Lighthouse of 3.6 and Nikon D3200 raw images

I have headlight 3.6.  What should I do to read/edit the D3200 Nikon camera raw image?

My mistake.  Sorry!  Support for your camera has not added up to version 7.1.  It is still a release candidate, and you must download it from the Adobe Labs site.  The DNG Converter is packed with ACR in the documentation for release candidate, and you will not be able to use ACR 7.1 with your older version of Photoshop.  But the DNG Converter will work.

  • Opening Nikon NEF Raw images in photoshop CS2

I installed the raw camera and when I try to open a raw file, it tells me that it cannot open the document because it is not the right kind of document. What should I do?

As I pointed out in my first post, the latest version of ACR to work with CS2 was 3.x.

If you don't want to upgrade Photoshop, use the DNG Converter (as I said too).

  • Change how ACR interprets color space for raw images

When you browse the raw (CR2) photos with the OS X finder, I love the way color is represented, it corresponds very closely to the camera in preview. However, Bridge/ACR/Lr all interpret the color space of files differently good raw, and I wonder if there is a way to put these programs according how OS X finder restores raw images.

Color space isn't the issue.  I think what you see with OS X finder is the embedded jpg file has been generated by the camera and saved in the RAW file for viewing, and it should look identical to the jpg of the camera.  The adobes in Camera RAW and Lightroom RAW converter uses the Adobe Standard profile of the camera as the default profile to the camera to generate an RGB from the RAW data image and you can save the image as a jpg, tif, etc. with any colorspace you select (sRGB, ProPhoto RGB, etc.).

Adobe has generated camera profiles for Canon, Nikon and a few other cameras that are a good match for the profiles used by the camera to generate an RGB image.  You will find them on the camera Calibration tab (as suggested in the post above) and they have names like camera XXXXX, XXXXX is the same name as that used in the camera.  Select one with the same name XXXXX that you selected in the camera and you should get a much better game.  You can also change the default profile to the camera at one of them, as suggested in the post above, and then the RAW image will open the first time using this profile instead of the Adobe Standard profile.  If you always use the same profile in the camera, this will solve your problem.  If you use different profiles of the camera in the camera photo then you will need to manually change in Camera RAW and Lightroom to one corresponding used in the camera because the RAW converter does not read what profile you selected in the camera.

  • RAW images are "locked" when they are imported into LR

I just got a new camera (Sony alpha 6000) and all my RAW images that I am trying to import into LR 4.4 are "locked" and therefore cannot be imported.

When I click on the photo in my HD file and look at the 'Get Info' of the photo is not "locked."

Cannot find any setting on my camera that shows the photo as "locked."  Anyone know if it is a problem of LR or Sony?

I have a Nikon D40, which has no problem downloading RAW images on my LR 4.4.

    Thanks for any help!

Sony Alpha 6000 raw files require at least 5.4 of Lightroom.

You need to upgrade, Lightroom, or use the free Adobe DNG Converter 8.6 version to convert your RAW to DNG and then import them into Lightroom.

  • Cannot open raw files from my Nikon D3200 in 11 elements

After I found I couldn't open the raw files from my new Nikon D3200 to 10 items and made a few hours in search of the web site, I upgraded to 11 items. 11 items also open the raw files of the D3200

I found the solution in a forum of the ambient light.  The problem was that I was using an older version of View NX2 to transfer files. I uninstalled this version and install the version provided with the D3200. The files load now in 11 items with no problem. Apparently, the old version affects the content of the NEF files, as elements was not able to recognize them, gave an error message that the files came from a camera unsupported.

Thanks for looking into that, Don Rieser

  • RAW downloads [cannot open files Raw of Nikon D3200 in PSE8]

Shop elements 8 photo will not open photos taken in RAW. How can I change, if possible.

Devices supported by Adobe Camera Raw

Camera Raw plugin and Adobe application compatibility

The D3200 was first supported by camera 7.1 Raw which is only compatible with 11 elements and later. So you will never be able to open files of the D3200 Raw 8-cell.

    You have two options:

    1. Upgrade to 14 elements (current version), or
    2. Download the free Adobe DNG converter, convert files in batches of the D3200 DNG format raw files, then change the DNG files in Elements 8. A step further for you, but not extra extra cost.

  • 4.4 Lightroom; Camera Raw 7.4 and Photoshop CS6 13.0.6. Not compatible with Nikon D810 raw files

I work with Lightroom 4.4; Camera Raw 7.4 and Photoshop CS6 13.0.6. Last month I bought a new camera Nikon D810, when trying to open files with this software I'm told that the files are not compatible with this version. I have updated their until I could, but still I can not work with my new file format. What is the solution?

You must update your version of Lightroom to 5.6 or newer to support the native file of the NAVE of the Nikon D810. Take a look at this page for more information on when a particular camera support has been added to Lightroom and Adobe Camera Raw: supported by Adobe Camera Raw devices

    Hi XDCAMAN,

Photoshop requires at least version 8.4 of camera raw to be able to directly open these Nikon NEF D4S files which is available in Photoshop CS6 and above versions (not in CS5)

Reference article: supported by Adobe Camera Raw devices

You can upgrade to a higher version of Photoshop or download Adobe DNG converter to convert raw files to DNG and access these DNG files in Photoshop CS5.

    Kind regards

This means that you don't have WRITE permission in the destination folder.

    You should:

    1. In Lightroom, determine the exact destination folder (it is on the right side of the import dialog box under Destination)
    2. Change the permissions in your operating system on this specific file WRITE permission; OR Change the destination folder in a place where you don't have WRITE permission
  • I just switched to a Nikon D80 with a Nikon D90 and I use Photoshop 4 and bridge. I can't open the NEF (raw) images off bridge. How can I get the camera raw dialog screen which came to my D-80?

I just switched to a Nikon D80 with a Nikon D90 and I use Photoshop 4 and bridge. I can't open the NEF (raw) images off bridge. How can I get the camera raw dialog screen which came to my D-80?

Devices supported by Adobe Camera Raw

First of all, the D90 was supported in Camera Raw 5.1.

Open Photoshop and click on Photoshop (Mac) or help (Win) > Plug-ins > Camera Raw to see what version you use.

Photoshop CS4 comes with Camera Raw 5.0.

Try to update Camera Raw in Photoshop to 5.7 via help > updates.

If this does not work, try to manually edit Camera Raw

Camera Raw plugin | Compatible cameras taken D7100 supported in 4.4 LR and ACR 7.4. CS5 cannot use ACR 7.4 last ACR for CS5 is ACR 6.7.  You will need download 8.6 ACR with the DNG Converter and create your NEF files in the DNG file.

  • CAB and Nikon Raw D800e files

This discussion is actually a follow-up on an older version, one where I thought that the problem has been resolved. I'm using CS5 extended 64-bit WIN 7 64 bit with ACR version 6.7. I checked the version of ACR updates and was informed that I am up to date. According to the ADOBE ACR v 6.7 site help is available to open Nikon D800e raw files. However when I try and open these raw files there is a message that the camera model is not supported. Any help on why raw files cannot be opened with cab 6.7 is appreciated.

Thanks Noel - after several hours of experimentation, I found the problem. I use a stand alone software, Nikon Transfer, to download images on the computer. The software allows me to preview/select, rename, and make simultaneous copies for backup. This software worked without problems, but when downloading pictures on the Nikon D800e it's something for raw files, making them incompatible with the software ADOBE ACR and even Nikon ViewNX 2. Now, here's the real curosity. When Nikon Transfer is initiated from a loner in the Nikon View2 software and not as a stand, he works, and ADOBE ACR 6.7 can read raw files. Once again thanks for the help.

I just tried ACR 6.3 RC and the problem persists. is this a known issue?
