  • I'm travelling. How can I use the portable Photoshop & Lightroom in a new computer?

I have Photshop & Lightroom installed in my home PC which is very powerful.
Now, I go to another country and I pay a monthly payment for the use of Photoshop and Lightroom.

I travel with a laptop and I would like to use Photoshop.
No idea how to do it. Is this possible?

    Thank you in advance!

Yes as long as the new book is the second computer you install LR and PS on.

Just go to the Adobe site and download the creative application Cloud then install the LR and PS one. Connect by using the Adobe ID associated with your subscription.

    Hi colh.

With a staff of creative cloud you will not be able to install Lightroom 6/CC on this computer, because it is not compatible on 32-bit systems. See the system requirements for Photoshop Lightroom for Mac OS and Windows

However, you can install Lightroom Creative Cloud Desktop App.Refer 5 How to find and install previous Version of Adobe Apps in CC-2015 | Adobe Customer Care Team

We recommend that you search for other laptops of 64-bit.

  • Lightroom travel 4

I have lightroom 4 is installed on a computer and you want to install it on another.  How do I do that?

You are allowed to have the software installed and enabled on both machines.  The only restriction is that you do not use this on both machines at the same time.

If you don't have the disks, you can download the trial and activate it using your serial number of the original purchase.

  • Best workflow between Photos and Lightroom

I visited the issue of the digital workflow many times over the years and opening was probably the best answer, alas. Now that we're stuck with much smaller pictures, I have to balance the desire to snap on my iPhone and take serious pictures, usually on my travels. So I designed a workflow to integrate the two activities and use my iPhone/iPad as my tools 'display '. The problem is that it is rather bulky. So I share below in the hope that others will comment and perhaps offer a best... Here we go:

    1. Import maps memory on computer, rename the shoot/import in Lightroom 6
    2. Do a quick reform of the iPhone photos (say for a given trip), then import them into Photos then export to the desktop, then import them into Lightroom 6
    3. Do all the editing and key-wording in Lightroom
    4. Select 'gatekeepers', mark them for export. Select photos from the iPhone that have not been edited (i.e. just renamed/key-wording) and preparing to export separately in the originals because that Lightroom creates much larger than the original jpg
    5. Export files jpg on computer to the majority or the photos + original iPhone photos (they will have names new, metadata, etc.).
    6. Delete the originals of Photos
    7. Import all of the Photos
    8. Run facial recognition
    9. Normally synch to iPhone/iPad

Any idea on how simplify/improve on it?

    Thank you!

Yes! It's my life too. And what a life! Thanks for viewing, and to verbalize the problem/process. Apparently not understood by Apple/Adobe. Missing something?

  • [Can I edit images in Lightroom on a Mac while I'm] on the road?

I am looking to buy a new macbook pro when it comes out this fall and use it in my Camper while I travel in North America. There will be a lot of times, when I have no internet service, and I want to be able to work on my images on my mobile photo studio of treatment and have not been able to get answers as to whether if I will be able to work in lightroom on my lap top when I'm not connected.

    Yes.

Lightroom installs locally on your Mac and your LR catalog must be local to Lightroom, which is the internal drive or external hard drive. Your images can either be stored on your hard drive, internal or external.

If your main images are offline for a while, you can always modify intelligent previews.

See the light travel with Lightroom Smart Previews | Lightroom training Laura shoe, tutorials and tips

So it won't be much, if any, of the difference between the home edition, in the studio or on the road.

As far as Lightroom is concerned, the only part of cloud on the Cloud version is the periodic checking of licences which can be up to 99 days between checks.

  • How to better manage two sets of original files in Lightroom?

    All,

I currently use Lightroom CC to manage my archives of the original images. As I shared my time between the Australia and Europe - and archive is several terabytes (to ~ 8) size - I keep a copy of archive on disk in two places and synchronize a pair of portable drives of 4TB that I carry with me when I travel. Both drives of 4 to allow me to keep a backup of what I've been shooting, and when I get to my home places, I use rsync to replicate files on the local disks of great. The result is two disks with identical structures of folders and files (if all goes well), giving me access as well as local off site backup file.

My problem is that, with the current configuration of Lightroom, I have to choose one of these readers 'local' as the source of my original images. When I'm in the location of 'the other', of course Lightroom cannot find the files. It seems that I must either remap all these files in the catalog for the reader of 'other' (which takes a lot of time) whenever I travel, or maintain two catalogues (which means duplicate my changes that I can tell).

    Then...

Is there a way I can deceive Lightroom into thinking that the 'local' two discs are the same drive for the catalogue will automatically resume my files? The folder structure is identical in each, (the only differences would be copies edited externally and stored in the original folder - which I have using rsync).

    Or...

Is there any hope that Lightroom will support several locations for original files in a catalog? The files are identical, and Lightroom already recognizes files modified by other applications - so I see no technical reason why this would be not possible.

    Or...

Is it possible to maintain two catalogs, but keep my changes synchronized between the two?

    Or...

Other suggestions - have I totally missed something?

    Thank you, David.

If readers in institutions have the same exact names (MAC) or the same drive letter (Windows), then Lightroom will recognize them as soon as you open the program, and you will not need to re - connect the photos inside LR. (Incidentally, this is not something you do to 'fool' Lightroom, it's a designed feature)

    Or...

Is it possible to maintain two catalogs, but keep my changes synchronized between the two?

I would abandon the idea of two catalogs that must somehow sync to be identical. This isn't a feature of Lightroom.

Do you want to say after it takes very long time after you re - map files (which, obviously, should take a long time for the computer), or do you mean that the task of you (the human user of Lightroom) making remapping takes a lot of time? This should not take more than 15 seconds a human user to reconnect everything if the disks are the same, as you claim.

  • Transfer a catalog in lightroom between 2 PCs

This can be answered somewhere already, but I've watched so far, I can't find a solution that works for me, but I feel like it should be simple enough.

This summer, I was traveling around Europe and take lots of pictures. I brought my laptop with me so that I can import and edit images while on the trip. Now I'm back at home and I want to transfer all my photos with lightroom edits / data to my new computer. (Of course, it's easy just copy the pictures, but I can't get the data to pass properly).

I'm on Windows 10 with lightroom 6 on both machines.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I also have an external hardrive to use to transfer everything.

    Thank you!

If you want to move all of the laptop to another computer, then you can simply export the catalog and images on a hard drive, external, and then on the other computer connects the external hard drive. Open Lightroom on this computer, and then choose Import from a catalog and choose the catalog on the external hard drive. That will allow you to add your vacation pictures to your catalog on the "main" computer Then you will have your holiday pictures to computers.

  • Lightroom [how to manage photos with LR on the road]

I have Lightroom CC and I edit on my desk. But is it possible when I (and about or travel) to shoot through and delete the photos I did on a shoot? This way I can work in the workplace. If I present also in LR might I also edit photos using these presets on my Ipad on the road?

IOS and Android devices can only use the Mobile app LR which have a function of editing but don't like the desktop version of LR. Of course, you can load your pictures on 1 of these devices and shoot through them, delete what you want.

As I don't use all LR mobile I'm not sure its feature set or if you can use the presets of same as you have on the desktop version.

  • Owners of a Lightroom 6 and Lightroom CC

Is - redundant to buy Lightroom CC and 6 Lightroom? When I travel I often have difficulties to access the Internet. I understand that I can work offline for 30 days without access to the internet, so that Adobe can check to see if my account is up to date. In addition, given that I bought both and downloaded accordingly, I expected to be able to see the two CC with Lightroom and Lightroom 6 in my applications list and use both, but whenever I try to access 6 Lightroom, I Lightroom CC. in my account of the documents that I have bought and downloaded 6 Lightroom, all I can find is CC with Lightroom. I have a MacBook Pro with OX S Yosemite.

Region 6 LR and LR CC exactly the same program. Files same get installed on your drive no matter what/who version you are installing.

Here's how the 2 versions are separated.

The difference comes in how you connect to LR.

If you use an Adobe ID which is, or has already been, associated membership of photographers (even if the subscription is completed), it then becomes the CC version.

If you sign with a id Adobe that is NOT and never has been, associated with a subscription plan then the program becomes the version 6

If you need to have 2 separate Adobe ID to have the CC and version 6 active. You can do that on a single computer at the same time.

But if you have 2 separate Adobe ID you can sign Out with one and sign in with the other. Who would turn LR of CC to 6 or 6 CC depending on which one you used to sign out of and sign back with, subscription ID or no subscription ID.

I have both. Don't ask my why because ultimately I don't really know why I bought the upgrade to version 6. I have a subscription.

  • Workflow for laptop travel

I'm new to Lightroom / Photoshop CC. Aperture library just imported to the masters of Lightroom on my WD My Cloud EX2 NAS drive.  My catalog is on my iMac. My question is about the import and editing of the files when you travel.  I travel with my camera and a MacBook Pro.  Assuming that I can access my NAS on the road and import the images of travel to the NAS?  Can I create a catalog on my laptop that points to NAS folders?  Then when I get home I have to change my existing catalog to make additional changes or to make a slideshow?

    Thank you

    Bob

When you return home, you open the laptop, launch Lightroom, optionally select the photos you want and then select file-> export as catalog. Uncheck include negatives. This creates a catalog, you can copy on your iMac. In Lightroom on the iMac select file-> import from another catalog, then point to the catalog that you just transferred to the laptop. This assumes that the name of the NAS drive is identical on both computers, it should work fine.

  • I have problems with the standalone version of Lightroom 6.

I have a problem with Lightroom 6 - so much trouble that I'm currently impossible to use.

(1.), I bought the standalone version of Lightroom 6 - CC No. I bought the disc, not a download.

    (2) I installed and used for months without any problem.

    (3) when I clicked on the icon on the desktop to open it - about three weeks ago, I got a message that I could buy (1) or (2) try it for 30 days. Of course, I couldn't choose one of these options because two of them would require me to pay for the program, either immediately, or within 30 days, if I wanted to continue to use it. If I deleted this message, Lightroom would not open. So, I was locked out Lightroom even though I had already paid for it.

    (4) given that I got the disc, I decided to reinstall Lightroom. This allowed me to use Lightroom again. I've been using this new facility without problem for several weeks; However, when I clicked on the icon of the office tonight to open Lightroom, I got the same message again: buy it or agree to a 30 day trial. So, I'm locked again.

    (5) I decided to install again. I managed to install the program on the disk; However, when I tried to open Lightroom, I received the message (not the exact wording): "you have installed Lightroom on computers too ' or maybe it was ' you used this serial number for facilities too - something along those lines." (I can't raise the message again, or I'll give you the exact wording). So now I'm completely locked.

    (6) before these challenges, I got Lightroom installed on my main desktop and on a laptop that I used when I travel. That's two facilities, and I installed twice on my desktop computer to try to circumvent the problems described above. However, I carefully watched my installed programs and there seems to have only a single installation of Lightroom 6 - no step three.

(8.) I would like any suggestions to fix this mess.

    Thank you.

    Roger

    Hi Roger,

My apologies for the trouble you've had to go through.

I've updated your records and you should be able to use your license now.

When you receive the message about the trial or a 30 day program, you should be able to choose the "Software license" option and activate using your key in order to to use without getting to re-setup.

  • I have 2 databases I use Lightroom how to identify objects in one and not the other, I changed

I use my cell phone as my computer on travel. When I come home, I transfer my data to my main catalog on my desktop. Sometimes, the files remain on my laptop and I made changes to some of my files.

I was trying to identify objects through finder that I've changed since I added changed files from my laptop to my desktop. My intention was to identify the XMP files that have changed since I added the files from my laptop to my desktop.

By analyzing what I see in the finder, I find that Lightroom data seem unwise. For example, is as follows the first line in the finder

    File: _MG_1180.xmp

    Date added: 05/05/16

    Creation date: 16/04/16

    Update: 16/04/16

    1. I've been constantly adding to my catalog when I import my SD card in my laptop. I'm waiting for my date added date should be the same as the date of the creation Date. Why date is later than the date of creation?

    2. to play back my 2 libraries, can I just move my files from one to the other xmp?

Do not do this through xmp. Some elements are never written to .xmp.

To do this through the sequence of command as follows:

    • On the laptop, in Lightroom, select the photos you want, then use the menu file-> export as catalog command. If the pictures are not on the desktop, check the box that says "negative."
    • Copy all the files created on the desktop
    • On the desktop, use the command file-> import from another catalog and point Lightroom in the laptop just transferred catalog file.

Which leaves the question of how to identify the photos changed recently. Create a collection of smart with the criterion that the modification Date is greater than YYYY-MM-DD, where of course which is the date of interest.
