Tmp\install.exe reason C:\windows\system32\advpack.dll.  Adobe support then said it was a Microsoft OS compatibility issue.  Contacted DELL and they told to switch to Win 7.   It is the only option to get the problem resolved?   DELL has been less than helpful.

  Yes, LR4.2 works well on my x 64 so Win8. Also my v9 elements also work well.

  To open images in Lightroom, you need to start Lightroom and then use the import function. Double click an image not open in Lightroom. Camera raw is a plug-in for Photoshop, Photoshop Elements, and After Effects. It will not work with just the bridge. If you have installed the bridge you will also need to install Photoshop which is also part of the creative package. Then you can use Bridge to access your raw files, then open them in camera raw. The way you have to put things in place now with Lightroom and Bridge, you can open your raw files by starting Lightroom and using the import function. Lightroom is not affected by plug in Camera Raw.

  "Keep in Dock" and close the window of LR is 2 different actions.  "Keep in Dock" means that, even if LR is closed, the LR icon is always in the dock for the reopening.  If you want to keep open LR, do not close the window.  You can minimize LR as suggested above, or you can 'Hide LR LR in the menu.  Cmd + H keyboard shortcut

  If please install Lightroom 6 and follow the steps below:

  • Go to Lightroom > Preferences.
  • Also please go to preferences > Performance tab and uncheck the box "use graphics processor.
  • Restart Lightroom and see if it works.
