The folder you selected in the import window Destination section do not write permissions. Replace the Destination folder by a you know has permissions to write to your username or change the permissions on the folder that you have chosen as their destination and test the import again.

  • Lightroom 2015 suddenly stopped importing Photos

    Hi all

I am in desparat need information.  I'm editing photos to a sporting event and when I tried to import photos from my SD card I get the following message:

    lightroom screenshot.jpg

"Could not copy a file at the location requested."

I restarted the application several times.  Change to the folder where the photos will be imported to. I even tried to import images that are not on the SD drive and still nothing works.  Can someone help me please? !!!

This error means that you don't have write permission in the folder that you want to copy the photo to.

Thus, determine what is this file, then go to your operating system and change the permissions to that SPECIFIC folder so that you have the WRITE permission.

  • Lightroom 4.2.  Cannot import. message files were not imported because they cannot be read

    Crisis of Lightroom:

suddenly, impossible to import images into lightroom - a window comes up that says '"suite of files not were not imported because they cannot be played'. I was trying to import images - 10 images were imported from the shoot, then import stopped.

I tested the card and card readers using cards of different cameras and using different card readers. I managed to import the images into a folder on my desktop, so know nothing is corrupted... Memory cards are good, my card readers are good. no settings not changed in my camera. Nothing has changed in my routine. Have been using lightroom for several years.

I import via a card reader, convert to DNG and save on an external hard drive. All very ordinary.

No, I contacted has had or knows someone who has had this problem.

Impossible to get in touch with anyone at Adobe.

Thanks for any help or direction to support tec

On a quick reading, it looks like the same question that me was dead in the water for 7 days. (LR 4.2)  I tried everything - my card readers are good, memory cards are not damaged, tried different cards of different cameras, etc. Working my way through all of my tech savvy friends and professional, I've been lucky to connect with a person of great sister tech at Adobe.  After all the possibilities of lightroom (3 hours on the phone) in case of problem, we checked my external hard drive where all the images are stored.  Though even the external hard drive had plenty of space and "told" that he was in good health and works well, Adobe got go in properties/tools of the external hard drive and do a 'error checking.  12 hours later after the program has the file to a disk at the same time, he finds errors, moved to a separate folder, and now everything works OK.  Hard drive not to was not crushed or if all images have been lost.  As can happen after a while there was a scratch or similar which prevents more images being write (or read) on the disk.  Even if everything works OK at the moment, I'll replace it my external hard drive (and it's backup external drive) .just cases are more 'bumps' on the external hard drive.

My technical knowledge is limited and I'm not intuitive that anything digital, so can't add more information then the experience I had.

  • Lightroom CC / 6: problem with importing JPEG files!

Just installed Lightroom CC (6) the trial created a catalog, added to an existing folder, and this is what I have observed.

    • Each photo shoot folder contains two folders: Original (DNG) and shared (JPEG format)
    • Original DNG all have exactly the same thing. But shared JPEG images are not get imported properly. Even the [Reset] button fails to resolve all the sliders to 0. And once I have manually set all sliders to 0, then the picture looks very good. Check this IMAGE.
    • When importing, I made sure that no default develop settings have been selected. 'None' was the option chosen for all the options that are available.

I guess the problem is, some develop parameters get automatically applied to image (JPEG) without meaning to, and this is why the [Reset] button fails to do what it is supposed to do!

Anyone else having this problem? OR I'm doing something wrong here?

You may need to disable the Auto apply toning in LR Prefs:

Otherwise, the parameters already can be incorporated into the files JPG to reimport cannot help.  Back to zero must change the values to what are your current default settings in LR.

  • Importing and organizing photo files lightroom 5 for the first time. Clean photo hard drive files

I have a trial version of lightroom 5 and would like one once and forall to restore order to my two drives hard and lightroom 5 collection. Some photos in lightroom 5 seem to have lost their way. Some are in folders of Windows 7 and others are 9 elements. I made backup copies of some records and would like to have a more systematic approach to save them in the future. I have a NAS (network access storage) device and an additional hard drive, I thought that it would be better to use my cell phone as main for my photo files working memory such that it would be faster to work with the NAS or external and then again everything down to the NAS and external. I consider that the main challenge group all files and as much as possible to preserve the sides I gave photos; I would like to eliminate duplicats. on both the hard drive and in lightroom. I watched one of the vidios of initial training on the 'library' of the adobe help section and the presenter talked about two ways to import photos. the first and I think that I will use in the future is to open lightroom and import from the SD directly rather than having the Windows 7 import, and then ask to lightroom to find them. If anyone Kow of an exhaustive enumeration of the instructions on how to clean up my hard drives that would be extremely useful? Peter

I doubt that it is a list of instructions to wipe a hard drive, because each starting situation is different and your 'own' is probably very different than my "clean".

But let's clear up a few things first. From your writings, it seems that you think that you have stored pictures in post-secondary education and photos stored in LR. This is not correct. None of these programs to store your photos. All your pictures are on your hard drive, in folders, somewhere.

Regarding the missing photos in Lightroom, when you move or rename your photos and folders outside of the Lightroom, Lightroom doesn't know where they are and bring back them as being absent. To fix it, see: http://www.computer-darkroom.com/lr2_find_folder/find-folder.htm related to that, you don't want to 'clean up' things in Windows and also "clean things" upward in Lightroom. Instead, once you import photos into Lightroom, you must do all the managing photos in Lightroom, not Windows, otherwise you'll just create several missing files.

Regarding duplicates, Lightroom has some tools to detect duplicates. He will try to prevent duplicates during the import, and if you are unable to import duplicates, you can use the "auto stack by Capture time" to try to find additional duplicates. But if those who do not work, then're it pretty much on your own.

With regard to put photos on your laptop to work on them rather than on your external hard drive, I think you will find that this gives a fraction of a second speed improvement that you may even not notice, which will be offset by the time you spend moving somewhere else photos when finished. So just put the photos in their final destination on your external HD or a NAS file and don't bother moving them to the internal HD.

Which leads to another point. Once you have done this 'cleaning', your workflow should be to put the photos in a place and then do not transfer! (Exception: not enough space on the disk or moving to another drive/computer) Make your life easier as possible.

One last point: seriously consider using keywords and other metadata for the Organization, rather than move photos/files from here to there, to reach the organization. These tools in Lightroom will give you the possibility of organizing in a much more powerful and flexible organization and what you can do by moving the photos/files from here to there. (Note: If you want all the photos in a sort of centralized location because it meets your storage needs, can do that because it meets your storage needs.) In this collection of photos in a centralized location, using keywords and other metadata to achieve organization and research)

  • Lightroom suddenly stopped importing photos

I can't Lightroom to import all my pictures more. I am importing 200 pictures my memory card and all, but the last 10 pictures imported. I tried to import again, but got an error message indicating that no photos not found. I was able to import successfully on my computer without using Lightroom, but when I tried to import them into Lightroom from the files in my computer, Lightroom gave me the same error message no pictures not found.

I thought that maybe my memory card has been altered (mostly because my camera recognize, often, not that there is a card in there when in fact it is), so I bought a new. I tried to import new photos in Lightroom and it didn't import photos how the progress bar froze to Midway through the half. I left for hours and was able to cancel it. Other attempts to import gave me the same results.

    Here is additional information:

    Canon 60 d (multiple lenses)

    5.7 Lightroom

    Windows 10

    And I tried to reboot.

I could not find information through my research and would appreciate any suggestions and advice. Thank you!

  • Creating folder Cloud is not in Lightroom CC 2015 projection

Since the upgrade to 2015 CC Lightroom, I could not see my creative cloud folder in Lightroom.  I tried to import the file, but lightroom says all the photos are already imported and each photo is gray out.  I added pictures of my tablet to see if a new picture would allow the folder to appear, but import would not add a catalog.  I disconnected (e) Creative Cloud application of office and signed, but no luck.

I have lightroom 5.7.1 installed on my 32-bit laptop and it works fine there and watch the photos recently added tablet.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Hi GregDiodati,

Could you please check the files in the catalog that says that they are already imported, searching with the name of the file in the catalog.

Also could you please copy the pictures of the tablet in a folder and then see if you are able to import images into Lightroom.

  • How to set up Lightroom to monitor folders, automatically import

    Hello

I'm just getting started with Lightroom, so please forgive the newbie question.

All my photos are on an external hard drive, in the J:/Pictures folder.

What should I do in Lightroom to make new pictures added in this folder are added automatically ("any") to the Lightroom/database library? that is Lightroom 'monitors' records in the background for all the new images?

    Thank you very much.

    Stefan

Hi and thanks again for the really useful answers and ideas! I would like to just get back to that, after thinking the question a bit more. My question re. "track records" may have been somewhat misleading to begin with. Yes, I asked on the "follow-up of files for changes", but what I really should have asked is how Lightroom would "know" changes in the photo files themselves, where these changes are made 'outside' Lightroom. For me, it is a sine qua non. I am very happy to adjust my workflow to ensure that this requirement can be satisfied.

If you mean you want to use another program to edit photos and CRUSH the original, don't do that. Do you no end of trouble in Lightroom. Use instead the Lightroom Edit in... such as mentioned above command that will create a copy to change that Lightroom won't.

The starting point then of data management is that the data, itself, should be the 'truth' and no external knowledge is required, for example in the form of an application (like Lightroom) who keeps a separate record "data about data" (metadata), for example the location, date taken, tags, etc. people.

OK, stop there. If this is what you want, you must NOT use Lightroom. In fact, according to all of your questions, it seems of course as Lightroom is the wrong tool for you. I suggest you need to change your entire thinking and requirements process, or NOT use Lightroom.

I'm not going to address other questions, as there seems to be no need for me to do. You're headed on a path very problematic and unsatisfactory, you will not like Lightroom, you won't benefit from it, it does not meet your needs. Period.

You have other software "organize" which seems to exactly meet your stated needs. I recommend you use your operating system to organize your pictures.

This message indicates that you have not permission in writing to the destination directory.

    So:

  • Lightroom CC 2015.5 has no import - files ._filename unopenable 1KO "jpg".

    Hi all

Last night I imported > 10 000 photos of my wife's iPhone (I know! crazy numbers, and I had to fight for it, because it uses daily, but has no space recently.)

The last import I made February 29 clearly did not work, because there are almost no iPhone photos in Lightroom: rather stupidly I did not check because there are warnings only on a photo and video not able to be imported.

I was faced with > 10 000 times so I left it churning away, and returned with what appeared to be a success. Glimpses of construction Lightroom crashed. I could see the files, but it gave me errors on loading of preview.

Lightroom 20015.5 - Mac OS - X El Capiran, completely up to date. Import via iPhone over USB. Catalog and the files on the external drive USB3 (NTFS) via Paragon Software driver. with quality cables and no issues with the hardware at all that I can see.

    Now the horror!

    Lightroom seems to have:

    (1) on 29 February - duplicated thousands of my existing pictures with a file naming convention: "._filename" - see photo. The files are only 1 KB in size and cannot be opened, but the original is, fortunately, intact.

These photos are not pictures of the iPhone and were not part of this import, then why it does this don't know! (Are they sort of sidecar files?).

Duplicate files are DNG/jpg/ORF and any he found.

    (2) yesterday, imported unreadable files. They exist, but cannot be read by LR or other viewers on Mac or PC.

The photos below show first 1) the odd files in Lightroom, which have used the names - they appear as images, but cannot be opened, 2) their sizes and 3) the search results with the string of file name showing that they coexist in the directory.

    LightroomImport ImportSample.PNG

    LightroomImport Rogue file size.PNG

    LightroomImport Rogue file size-2.PNG

The following two are the new files. They are larger, seem to be copies successfully, but cannot be opened. The successful single file is the film, and it's the thumbnail, you can see. (My wife yoga classes).

    LightroomImport ImportSample-2.PNG

    LightroomImport residue.PNG

Now I know enough about computers to know that there are a lot of possible issues. However, I am puzzled and, after reading a lot of posts on iPhone problems, impossible to find those that seem to correspond to this problem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Kind regards

    David.

Message was edited by: David Barber - title adjusted that she was confusing - the '. '. _"is the prefix for all the problem files.

    David Rayden says:

Are you saying that the MAC is paste these files on my hard drive NTFS ._name? Your link was informative on the do not delete; Thank you.

Read also the ._name files are created by the Mac system, but are 'hidden' on the Mac system. On the Windows system that they are NOT hidden while they seem to appear from nowhere.

    David Rayden says:

Lightroom is to see these ._name files. It would be nice if adobe gave us an import filter - I could use a wild card to exclude. (With the big red flag to import that filters are in use!)

Easy to do! At the bottom of the module to import, select sort > filename. All ._name files should now appear together at the top of the thumbnail list view. Simply select these files by clicking the first file ._name and SHIFT and click the last file ._name then "uncheck", one of the ._name files. They should all now be disabled and checked all others you want imported.

    David Rayden says:

    The point on the issue.

It seems the Synology iPhone upload works better. which is a shame for Adobe, I would say.

Thanks for your comments, it is much appreciated. All ideas stimulated by the latest info would be appreciated. Do I mark this as 'Response' and open another for download problems, or I can keep it all here?

Looks like you're talking about a question of LR Mobile with download of Smart Previews. Regardless, you talk if yes, please create a new post for that matter a separate issue from ._name files. If satisfied with the solution for ._name files please mark as answered to help others.
