Lightroom CC 2015.5 has no import - files ._filename unopenable 1KO "jpg".

Hi all

Last night I imported > 10 000 photos of my wife's iPhone (I know! crazy numbers, and I had to fight for it, because it uses daily, but has no space recently.)

The last import I made February 29 clearly did not work, because there are almost no iPhone photos in Lightroom: rather stupidly I did not check because there are warnings only on a photo and video not able to be imported.

I was faced with > 10 000 times so I left it churning away, and returned with what appeared to be a success. Glimpses of construction Lightroom crashed. I could see the files, but it gave me errors on loading of preview.

Lightroom 20015.5 - Mac OS - X El Capiran, completely up to date. Import via iPhone over USB. Catalog and the files on the external drive USB3 (NTFS) via Paragon Software driver. with quality cables and no issues with the hardware at all that I can see.

Now the horror!

Lightroom seems to have:

(1) on 29 February - duplicated thousands of my existing pictures with a file naming convention: "._filename" - see photo. The files are only 1 KB in size and cannot be opened, but the original is, fortunately, intact.

These photos are not pictures of the iPhone and were not part of this import, then why it does this don't know! (Are they sort of sidecar files?).

Duplicate files are DNG/jpg/ORF and any he found.

(2) yesterday, imported unreadable files. They exist, but cannot be read by LR or other viewers on Mac or PC.

The photos below show first 1) the odd files in Lightroom, which have used the names - they appear as images, but cannot be opened, 2) their sizes and 3) the search results with the string of file name showing that they coexist in the directory.

LightroomImport ImportSample.PNG

LightroomImport Rogue file size.PNG

LightroomImport Rogue file size-2.PNG

The following two are the new files. They are larger, seem to be copies successfully, but cannot be opened. The successful single file is the film, and it's the thumbnail, you can see. (My wife yoga classes).

LightroomImport ImportSample-2.PNG

LightroomImport residue.PNG

Now I know enough about computers to know that there are a lot of possible issues. However, I am puzzled and, after reading a lot of posts on iPhone problems, impossible to find those that seem to correspond to this problem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards

David.

David Rayden says:

Are you saying that the MAC is paste these files on my hard drive NTFS ._name? Your link was informative on the do not delete; Thank you.

Read also the ._name files are created by the Mac system, but are 'hidden' on the Mac system. On the Windows system that they are NOT hidden while they seem to appear from nowhere.

David Rayden says:

Lightroom is to see these ._name files. It would be nice if adobe gave us an import filter - I could use a wild card to exclude. (With the big red flag to import that filters are in use!)

Easy to do! At the bottom of the module to import, select sort > filename. All ._name files should now appear together at the top of the thumbnail list view. Simply select these files by clicking the first file ._name and SHIFT and click the last file ._name then "uncheck", one of the ._name files. They should all now be disabled and checked all others you want imported.

David Rayden says:

The point on the issue.

It seems the Synology iPhone upload works better. which is a shame for Adobe, I would say.

Thanks for your comments, it is much appreciated. All ideas stimulated by the latest info would be appreciated. Do I mark this as 'Response' and open another for download problems, or I can keep it all here?

Looks like you're talking about a question of LR Mobile with download of Smart Previews. Regardless, you talk if yes, please create a new post for that matter a separate issue from ._name files. If satisfied with the solution for ._name files please mark as answered to help others.

Since I've upgraded to version 2015.3, I can import is more photos.  I tried to import from SD card and a hard drive, but both show the same failure.

    I am running Windows 7.

First of all, when I start the import process, the display of the grid does not display previews of new photos.  If I double-click on a photo, he will show me the preview in full screen.  It shows previews of older photos I've already imported.  But in the grid, the new photos are all white.

Then, I select copyand allow to Rename the files as I always do.  When I click on the import button, I get the screen of importation, that says "import...". "The status bar in the top left says" copy and import photos ", and the progress bar starts about 2/3 full.  It remains there, but no matter how long wait.  Occasionally, I get a handful of imported photos, but most of the time, no pictures are imported.

When I give up and click on the X to cancel, a popup says, "no photos or videos not found to import.

  • Lightroom CC 2015.2.1 D800 import slow with attached USB cable

    Hello

When I join the MacBook Pro retina the D800 with a cable USB 3 (various) (end of 2012), not all images are displayed in the import dialog, and if all images are marked for import and import is started, nothing happens. When I do not start the import of images and wait a few minutes and reopen the import dialog, all the images are displayed correctly. When you import then all images, also nothing happens and the images are imported after waiting a few minutes. The time-out period is about 5-10 minutes until Lightroom starts to import images from the camera on the disk.

Import of images of D800 with a USB cable for Mac OS "Fotos" app works normal and without problems (or wait time). Now, my solution is to import images into Mac OS app "Fotos" and then import these files to image imported into Lightroom.

I hope that the new import dialog will change the old, that was quick, easy and reliable!

Thanks for help and best regards,

    Matthias

The latest updates of Lightroom (dating back to the former import dialogue) solved the problem. When attaching the camera to the port USB to import is as fast as it was before. I tested several times, and none of the problems described above appear (images appear instantly in the import dialog and import is then very fast).

I also always use the SD slot, but sometimes I only have pictures on CF card, so the SD card does not help then. To this end, the problem was really annoying!

  • Lightroom CC 2015.6 does not import (Mac)

Just recently, my version of Lightroom became unresponsive when I try to import pictures from my Nikon D500. It has the same when I try either pugging the camera in via USB or by using a card reader. It worked when I tried a son D7200 SD card, but the locks for the D500. I can copy files via the Finder on the local hard drive and import from there, so I don't think that the files are damaged, and the SD card appears on the desktop, just as it should. I had the camera since May and it didn't happen until recently. Creative cloud's all day, as is the operating system. I'm puzzled. Copy of the files, it's a work around, but not quick, nor how it should work. Any ideas?

    Hi Jamesmoehrke,

Could you please update to Lightroom to latest CC 2015.6.1 and let us know if this helps. You may need to close all Adobe applications followed by disconnecting and then signing Creative Cloud App.

See the Lightroom CC now available 2015.6.1 link for more details.

  • How to import files from RAW and jpg formats

If I shoot in RAW + JPG format images, there are two files for each image (a RAW and a JPG).  When I import into LightRoom, only the RAW files appear on the screen to import.  To import the JPG file, I need to download the jpgs from the card to the computer and then separately to import computer jpg files into LightRoom.

How can I get the RAW and JPG images formats appear in the import window?  I have an iMac, import images from the card via a card reader and use LR CC 2015.

In your Lightroom preferences, there is an option to treat JPEG files next to raw separate image files. If you check this option, then Lightroom will import JPEG images, but also raw images. Once you select this option you can synchronize files that have already been imported and JPEG images will be added to the catalog.

Thank you very much! That s it!

It took me a while to understand what you wanted to know, where and how to change the default setting. I do not change the preset intentionally before and I m quite sure 5.7 LR has not done. There is a slight suspicion that this was done by an OS X update. Perfectly awful!

    Sincerely grateful

  • Import dialogue crashes when it's attached disk external HARD - Lightroom CC 2015.6

    Hello

    You are looking for assistance.

Lightroom is suspended when you try to import photos via the import dialog.

I installed the latest version of Lightroom CC (2015.6) for Mac, and I understand that the previous versions had a bug of import but that this has already been resolved in 2015.6.

I was able to isolate the problem to my external HARD drive. I bought a WD disk Raid Duo lightning strike and loaded with photos.  When it is disconnected, there is no problem with the import. When connected, the importation is suspended.

If Lightroom is trying to read all the pictures on the external HARD disk and gets overloaded? How can I solve this?

The HARD disk is functional with the Finder and my other apps, just not Lightroom.

I don't think I've had this problem in the latest version of LR.

Lightroom does not recognize any of my file types [DNG / JPEG etc] and is unable to import? any ideas for a fix?

It's impossible. LR is a non-destructive editor and photo management. For her to not see images of the files would make it one of the worst of these programs tyupes.

So there is a parameter that you have screwed up in the import dialog window that prevents your DNG, TIFF, JPG, PSD, PNG, CMYK and film formats appear in the import window.

So show us a screenshot of your import window.

More than likely you have chosen a destination that has all the permissions read/write to your username.

Just a hunch.  "ig75icd64.dll" is the driver intel HD graphics.  That should narrow down your search.  You may need to reinstall/day (or if it has just updated - then push) that this driver.

  • After downgrading to Lightroom CC 2015.2 CC 2015.1 LR start error message "an error has occurred when attempting to change modules."

Had problems on OS X Yosemite 10.10.5 with Lightroom CC 2015.2 suspended several times so followed the advice on the forums:

After awhile the same day LR would always hang and now totally crash at startup with no error messages or anything like that. Tracking guides:

-Sign out, then back in CC

    -Uninstalled CC 2015.2

    -Reinstalled old CC 2015

Does not solve the problem. Lightroom said: "an error occurred when attempting to change modules." and the catalogue has not loaded. Then followed guides:

-Creation of a new user account and trying to open Lightroom it

Does not work, did not start there either, same error message. Decided to try to uninstall and reinstall the old CC 2015 once again, this time turn off the computer laptop inbetween:

    -Uninstalled old CC 2015

    -Restarted MacBook Pro

    -Connect to CC

  • I have some important files on my desktop and the fear that one of my employees has copied that data on its USB...?

I have some important files on my desktop and the fear that one of my employees has copied that data on its USB, is it possible to check if there was such a transfer, such as a history of copy, or something?

In my view, the above question sums up all, I'm not that computer savvy, so please give detail instructions, and if there is way to secure these files are copied or sent by electronic mail, please let me know, if I can avoid these problems in the future. Thank you.

  • Lightroom CC 2015.7 / Camera Raw 9.7 / macOS Sierra - could not find the Destination folder during import

    Hello world

Sorry if this question is stupid, but I always imported files easily on my hard drive. But recently, since I've updated my Lightroom, I can't find the menu destination folder when importing photos.

I go in the menu library, choose IMPORT, select the original folder, the photos I want to import and then, on the right side, I only see the option 'create an intelligent Preview' and the option of keywords/tags. Where is the part that I could choose the destination folder - and even create subfolders?

If I click on the triangle in the lower left corner to minimize the menu, I can see the menu "create a subfolder. However, the normal display mode brings no option like that, but by selecting the main folder by clicking on the icon in the corner right-towards the top.

What Miss me? It seems not very practical for me.

    Cheers in advance!

The destination tab may have accidentally become hidden, next to one of the other header in the sidebar right and you click right there get a pop up that will allow you to restore it. See the screen capture.

I use LR 6.5 on an iMAC. Files RAF Fuji originally, I imported from an SD card worked and exported in the form of PSD and then after saving the files on an external hard drive RAF erased from Lightroom. I now have to import some RAF of the HD files but LR shows them as dazed out and said that they have already been imported when I hover over the thumbnail. I have this problem when importing files in the same HD Canon CR2, and who have been treated exactly the same. Anyone got a clue as to why this is happening? Thanks, Phil

    Hi Phil,

If Lightroom then reads these as duplicate files, it shows that they are already present in your Lightroom Catalog.

You can search by file name and check if the image is present in your library.
