Lightroom db seems lost photos in a disk failure but still having thumbnails is possible to export these?

Hello

I had one of my drives go belly up, which had about 1000 images top that had not yet been backed up on my other drives or online storage.  What I'm curious to know, is that I don't have a backup of the lightroom catalog that had these pictures in before the hard drive died.  When I opened this catalog I can see the thumbnails of the images.  Most are small an unusable but some especially those who was RAW files and which were imported in this descent of look catalogue, good enough for the web in any case.  But given that the scans are missing Lightroom dosen't seem to want to export what little data, there in the catalog of miniatures.

Is it possible to remove the tile friles is the .lrdata file?

I appreciate all help.

Thank you!

  • Lost my CD to install CS3, but still allowed. How can I install the new computer?

I have a license of Photoshop CS3 and serial No., but lost my CD.  Looks that I can download to http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs3-product-downloads.html, but I still get this error: HTTP ERROR: 404 support/downloads/dlm/main.jsp.  Does anyone know where I can get a copy of the media?

    Thanks for any help!

    -BK

HA!  This is a bad link from Adobe.  All other downloads seem to be going to http://trials2.adobe.com, but the CS3 downloads go to http://esd.adobe.com for a reason, and this does ' t exist.

Then I copied the link and he spent myself:

Bad link for Photoshop CS3 http://esd.adobe.com/Applications/Photoshop/CS3/Mac/ADBEPHSPCS3_WWE.dmg:

Good link for Photoshop CS4 http://trials2.adobe.com/dlm/Applications/Photoshop/CS4/Mac/ADBEPHSPCS4_LS1.dmg

Manually typed link for Photoshop CS3, which allows me to download the file ADBEPHSPCS3_WWE.dmg:
    http://trials2.Adobe.com/DLM/applications/Photoshop/Mac/ADBEPHSPCS3_WWE.dmg

    HERE'S THE CATCH.

You need to click on the first link first and get the download error.  From there on, you have to paste the link manually typed, otherwise you get the file not found or you do not have permissions.

Either way, this file seems to be the same file linked from:

    It worked for me!

  • Transfer of photos to an external hard drive, lost photos

I had a new hard drive LaCie today, connected and started a new folder on the drive to store my photos.  In Lightroom, I dragged my first record, one that contained about 2 000 images on the new folder on the external drive.  He began to transfer files, but stopped after 532 files and said that everything was transferred.  Photos of ~ 1500 remaining seem to have disappeared - they are not appearing on my laptop or external hard disk.  Could someone help me through this and understand what has happened to my photos?  I have transferred the wrong way?

You experience a rare but persistent and nasty bug that Adobe says they have searched and cannot find (see answer 27 here: Re: lost photos )

Missing 6 months worth of pictures of my kids, HELP!

    In the future, it would be wise not to move the photos in Lightroom. Instead, you can move the pictures in your operating system and then reconnect in Lightroom using Adobe Lightroom - find folders and files moved or missing;

For now, you must restore the photos of your backups.

Hey people Adobe, perhaps you should look into this new.

  • Lightroom can't see photos of source when you try to import

6 of Lightroom on Apple - updates all day.

In import dialogue Lightroom "see" the new photos of source, either on the hard drive, an external hard drive or camera card. Disks are ok and photos are visible in the folder outside of lightroom structure and are visible to other programs such as picasa, so doesn't seem to be a problem for apple. Problem appeared about 2 weeks ago. Have you tried updates etc but the problem persists. Please help, thanks, Pat Russell

  • I downloaded and used a test of Lightroom, several days ago.  I've used and have a library, but now, when I try to use it today, my pictures seem to be there in the library but when I try to start working on a new picture, I get a "file not found messages

I downloaded and used a test of Lightroom, several days ago.  I've used and have a library, but now, when I try to use it today, my pictures seem to be there in the library but when I try to start working on a new picture, I get a ' file not found message.»  How can I go back in my files?

There are a number of options available when you choose to import files to your catalog in Lightroom (library)

1 copy / copy as DNG, this option allows you to copy files of origin from their existing location, for example a folder on an existing, promenade, internal, external, a reader of card or a camera SD card connected to the computer via a USB port, to a location of your choice, in a folder of a HARD internal, external HARD disk drive or a network drive on your choice.

    2. move. This option allows you to move files of origin of their location, for example a folder on an existing drive, internal or external to a new location of your choice, in a folder of a drive HARD internal, external HARD disk or a network drive on your choice. (the Move option you cannot move files from a card or your camera.)

    3. ADD., this option allows you to add image files to the catalog of their location, for example a folder on an existing drive, internal, external or network drive and the original images remain in their current location.

The original image file will be located at the location of your choice.

There are no image files in your catalog (or library) file the original files are in the location you choose.

If you choose to add files to your catalog from an external drive, then unplug the player from your computer, then Lightroom which will show the 'file not found '.

  • The folder in Inbox disappered after "compact folders" applied (and installed Lightning). MSF file seems to stay at the disk again. How to restore the folder?

I have several folders in the Inbox.
The last time (for months) Thunderbird asked to compact files. Last week, I deleted unnecessary messages in folders and applied "compact" on the Inbox (root) folder.
Today, that I discovered that one of the folders inside the Inbox disappeared. However when I look at the e-mail on local disk storage I still see msf file with the name of the record lost in the Inbox.sbd folder.
I also have installed lightning and Thunderbird update week last next to compression of files.
Can I restore folder in the Inbox?

is there another file of the same name, other than the MSF?

  • How to recover lost photos?

    Hello

Recently, I got my iphone 5 after it said connect to itunes after having tried to write in my access code. I could not access my phone with password so I decided to put it in recovery mode. But I forgot to save pictures and other content in both itunes and icloud. What should I do to recover the lost photos?

If they were not saved or synchronized on the cloud, they are gone. You can't find them at this stage.

  • If I remove iCloud library in my iPhone (but not on my Mac) I lost photos?

I have iCloud library enabled on my iPhone and Mac.

Everything works perfectly, great synchronization, all photos back available for me to see 10 years.

Now I have run out of space on my iPhone, and my photos (despite the optimization of storage on iCloud photo library) are the main reason for this.

If I disable iCloud photo library on my iPhone, but keep it on my Mac, what will happen?

Do I lose all the photos?

Once I did, if I delete the pictures of my phone are they so just deleted from my phone, but not my iCloud?

    Appreciate the help, thanks

If you disable iCloud photo library on your iPhone, you will see more pictures on this device. iCloud photo library on your Mac will still have pictures. You should not lose all the photos from your Mac, but make a copy of your library beforehand should put your mind at rest until you can verify that he has lost. Delete the pictures taken on your iPhone will not affect your Mac or iCloud, but neither future pictures taken on your iPhone will go into iCloud photo library.

Most laptops have the product key on a sticker on the bottom of the machine. If yours is not readable, you should contact Compaq support: http://www.compaq.com/cpq-country/cpq_support.html

  • Recovery of lost photos crushed

I cut and pasted pictures of my Nikon DSLR to a picture file using windows exporer.  These are called in numerical order.  (DSC_121, etc.)  The next day, I cut and pasted a new batch of photos to this folder and for some reason, the camera numbered these photos with some of the same figures, so that my original DSC_121 file has been replaced by a new DSC_121 file.  So I lost a group of images.  I don't have a screen asking permission to replace.  Is that what I can do to recover lost photos?  I run Windows 7.

    Hello

Do not run this program without checking with the authors and others in their forums, because it
perhaps other methods to use that can help recover more if it is at all possible. Do not forget to
Ask for advice how to proceed and if other programs are offered. Another good source would be
is the Nikon Support. The problem as you say it, it's that the photos were crushed with the same
name of file that adds more complexity to the mix.

  • Lost photos and workflow issues

I have a question which is perhaps a bit lengthy...

I have CC on two computers, my laptop that I was using CC on since a year now and my work computer that I use CC on since a few months. I went to grab the raw version of a few images from my work computer to find that they had never actually been saved. They had been available in LR before, but then I went from catalogs, and when I went back to the original, I had the "!" error on all my photos. What I did not know before, but now I know, it's that LR only saves a virtual copy of the image. However, I didn't do anything differently when downloading pictures to my work computer, and I've never had this problem on my home computer. In fact, I can go to my computer and see that all the images in RAW saved in my files.

So I guess my question is, how can I change my workflow when it comes to images so that this doesn't happen? Also, why the images are saved on my drive of your personal computer? Is it because I saved before lightroom?

    I am very confused.

The problem with the icon exclamation point on your photos has nothing to do with 'save' photos, or save changes to the metadata. Your changes and metadata are automatically saved in the catalog file (in fact, you can not disable this option). So your changes and metadata are always saved, there is no change in the required workflow.

Exclamation point icon indicates that the file of the photo itself is not found in the location Lightroom think that the photo is in. This could be because you have renamed, moved or deleted the actual photo file (or the folder that contains it) outside of Lightroom. Under Windows, it can also indicate that the player now has a different drive letter. To resolve this issue, please follow these instructions: Adobe Lightroom - find folders and files moved or missing

What I did not know before, but now I know, it's that LR only saves a virtual copy of the image.

Technically, not true. Lightroom saves the editing command sequence you have done, and whenever he needs to show you the photo in the develop Module, it makes the image of these change orders. In the library Module, Lightroom is based on previews it creates to show you the image (which are not a "virtual copy" of the image).

  • Lightroom [how to manage photos with LR on the road]

I have Lightroom CC and I edit on my desk. But is it possible when I (and about or travel) to shoot through and delete the photos I did on a shoot? This way I can work in the workplace. If I present also in LR might I also edit photos using these presets on my Ipad on the road?

IOS and Android devices can only use the Mobile app LR which have a function of editing but don't like the desktop version of LR. Of course, you can load your pictures on 1 of these devices and shoot through them, delete what you want.

As I don't use all LR mobile I'm not sure its feature set or if you can use the presets of same as you have on the desktop version.

I am a user of Picasa for a long time conversion to Lightroom. I share photos with dropbox on a MAC, a Windows computers, storing images and the catalog in dropbox. I'm able to share the LR catalog, but on the second system images can be found as a prefix system DB files have different user names. Any ideas?

At the point of Lightroom to another location for photos, follow these instructions:

    http://www.computer-darkroom.com/lr2_find_folder/find-folder.htm

Note: If the catalog is constantly being synchronized to DropBox, you will most likely follow these instructions whenever you open the catalog on another computer.
