  • Lightroom files have? brand and are not found

When I need to change a root folder either by renaming or moving on the main hard drive, lightroom loses connectivity. This is not a problem in itself, but how can I remove the reference to the lightroom folder and download the new location of the file or the name?

You like LIghtroom to reconnect to the record by (in Lightroom) right click on the folder with the? icon and selecting then find the file missing and then showing the real location and the name of the folder.

You might consider renaming the folder in Lightroom, or better yet, develop a "workflow" that requires no change of name of folders.

  • Nikon D7100, I can't download my RAW to Lightroom files. I have read all the post, update of 3.6 to 4.4 and 5.7 with Lightroom 2015; Nothing helps!

Nikon D7100, I cannot download my RAW to Lightroom files! I have read all the post and started with Lightroom 3.6 4.4, Lightroom 2015 then Lightroom 5.7 update. Nothing helps!

The Nikon D7100 is supported from 4.4 LR on-site. So I have no idea why you have problems to import files NAVE of this camera or the card memory used in this device.

You use the Nikon software first to get images of camera or card to your hard drive? I read somewhere that the Nikon software does something for the NAVE of the files making them unreadable by LR.

  • not sure, instruments, file types and export for lightroom

    Hello:

I am a new user of LR and new to the process of dam. I'm confused about something that is without doubt essential and fundamental in this process. My computer configuration is two internal drives (car and a working archive photo), as well as the external backup and burn to dvd. Using LR for image adjustment and catalog management (do not use Photoshop).  I will be the conversion to DNG on ingestion for raw. I add metadata loose on ingestion and then align the images in LR to rate images and making adjustments to the base image. These images are then archived that original.

Now, if I do work extra on these archived images (addl. setting of the image or metadata) these images would consider instruments?  If so, I would then go to export in LR to add (for example, masterfile, master.dng or .tif) file name before you send, for example, a derviative work file before sending it to the archive?

Also, if I send you these archival footage, but do not send email or web, do I need to change the DNG to another type of file (for example, tif)?

Finally, I have a few old jpegs on cards with media that I want to put in this process. Is there something special I need to do in the treatment of these images against dealing with the raw?

I read the dam book as well as reading through various resources online, but this process is quite confusing for a beginner.

    Please answer at any time.

    Thank you

    Joe.

Lightroom is a non-destructive Editor. This may be different from what you have used in the past.

With publishers not destructive, there is no concept of original and derivative (except if you choose to use a 2nd program like Photoshop, it seems that you do not intend to do). With an editor not destructive, you make your changes in the Editor (Development Module), and these instructions are stored in Lightroom as a 'recipe' and not as a separate file on your hard drive. These instructions on your changes are applied whenever you use Lightroom to display your image (or whenever you choose to print from Lightroom do a LR slidesehow or make a web page of LR). The original is completely unchanged and there is no export derived retouched or registration. Therefore, there is no need to separate the original and edited photo, because there is no retouched saved. Additional changes in Lightroom are managed the same, original remains unchanged, your changes are saved and there is no picture derived or recorded.

The only time wherever you can save a copy of the picture is that if you wanted a copy for one end non-Lightroom, in which case you use file-> export... in a 'temporary' folder to a file on disk, then you use the file created for any purpose non-Lightroom you have and once completed, you can delete the file in the temporary folder knowing that LR can recreate exactly if you need it again. If you want to print from LR, LR email, or create a webpage of LR or create a slideshow of LR, you need not create a photo exported.

Jpg and RAW, and DNG is that all treated the same to you, the user. Yes, there are internal differences that are not important to your workflow.

  • Help!  I looked at my files "backup", and now ALL my pictures are more 'related' to Lightroom.

I thought I was missing some files, so I looked at my backup files.  I received a 'warning' that Lightroom would restart and display my backup files.  I have NOT received any warning, that there is NO GOING BACK!  I've tried everything.  I can't add a link to ONE of my pictures.  Well, I just did an and he told me all the other photos in the folder have been corrupted and Lightroom would not be able to edit (and no, it wasn't an exported .jpeg file).  Fortunately, I am not concerned about this issue, that's why I tested it.  I have moved all my pictures from my C drive on my D drive because for some reason strange on this computer, my D drive is 5 times bigger and I ran out of room.  When I did, I was able to recreate a link to all the photos.  Unfortunately, it didn't keep my records, he has them just relinked in chronological order.  I can deal with, even if he did find much more difficult shots, but I wasn't about to try to rename one of them and have to recreate a link to the new.

Now, I can't repeat an any of them because it appears in Lightroom that all photos are back on the C drive and as a result, the new pictures that I placed on the D drive aren't there, and nothing is re-issued, period, not even those who was originally on my C drive!

I have never been so aggravated in my life.  I you LOVE features of Lightroom.  I have version 2.3.  When I search on the help online, all I get is how the photos are in some place they have been saved, but they are linked, etc..  I already know that part.  I seriously wish that I had NEVER looked at my backup files.  I don't think I'll bother backing up stuff more because apparently looking at the backup mess up everything.

I fully expected that I would be able to go back, choose my folders on my D drive and have all my current pictures available.  Unfortunately, not.

My user name should be FREAKED OUT!

Great, now go open recent (in the folder) and open the catalog from the other and see if you get them all connected.

  • I use Lightroom on iMac and laptop - where to store my master files?

I'm a convert to the wire to use Lightroom to edit and manage all of my photos (previously using iPhoto, then Photos). Currently I have my pictures stored on my iMac and would like to be able to access and manage/modify them to my laptop as well. However, I don't have enough space on my laptop for all those pictures and I don't want to use an external plug in and out of my iMac and laptop hard drive whenever I want to edit my photos.

Is there a way to have my pictures stored in one place (currently my iMac) and then access it from my laptop to organize and modify them without having to take up on my laptop? I'll have to spend some time going back to 10 years to make the folders and subfolders, and you want to be able to do some of this work for my laptop and have it synchronize on the iMac. Creative cloud that done for me?

    Thank you

    Hi boarderangie,

With the help of creative cloud, the catalog will not be synchronized through creative cloud.

However, you can use an external drive to work with images on 2 different computers.

    Kind regards

  • Why the PSD files and png pixelated in Illustrator?

Help! I am very new to Illustrator, but moderately to well known with Photoshop. PSD and png created in Photoshop look pixelated and serrated in Illustrator, but excellent in other programs. Why is this?

Thanks in advance for any advice/help!

That's about all. Most of the things in Illustrator are well on the printed page. Function of the printer, you get crappy results, since some desktop printers print on the screen.

When you want to see like in Photoshop, you'll have to zoom in to 300andsomething %.

  • Lightroom files deleted (permanently) everything by moving

Today move some files and by organizing on a regular basis, I noticed one of the files that I had moved just stood as a missing file.  I had looked and worked with these photos before, so I know they were there.  I had not deleted since Lightroom or my hard drive.   The files have been moved to Lightroom, and then disappeared.

I have searched all over my computer and external hard drive, and they aren't there!  Silly me, it was a recent shoot and I had not yet made a backup.

So, I called Adobe customer service. NEEDLESS. Had no constructive options for troubleshooting.  Basically, anyone with basic computer knowledge could have done what they were trying to do and done better.  I had already searched computer, trash, drive hard etc, the files do not exist.  I need options to recover the files.

All the support guy might say, and this is a supervisor at that time, was that «the Lightroom deletes pictures»  Have you read the forums?  How "BOLD" to say it could never happen, or is it never happened!  How about trying to solve the problem.  In my own research I found a way to extract my glimpses, however only about 20% of them are recoverable. The support guy could have asked me if I had seen 1:1 and then he suggested that I extract these since they would be a viable file.  He didn't even know that was an option.  Her exact words were "Tell me where your files are, and I'll show you how to get back them."  If I knew where they were I wouldn't be looking for them!  The customer support was completely useless. The WORST customer service experience, I never treated.

In regards to Adobe... it's a crime.  You do pay a LOT of money for your products and do not offer support for these products. If you people answering phones that really understand the product and spoke English, your customers would have a chance to reconcile their questions.

I searched my computer and the hard drive for the missing files. I tried to extract previews recoverable with some success.  I get files from my hard drive in the hope that they can appear here. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Frustrated customer.

Unfortunately, this bug has been reported several times, that doesn't happen a lot, but it's a very serious bug. In fact, the only time where I know that Adobe have sought the bug, they claimed that it could not be reproduced. As far as I know, your photos have disappeared.

Documentation of the bug is here:

Transfer of photos to an external hard drive, lost photos

    Another case is here:

  • How can I delete mobile device via Lightroom file? NG

I use Lightroom Mobile to take photos in Raw on my mobile device. This allows to save a. DNG file on my device. However, several times after going through the photos I want to delete these photos permanently. However, I notice when I tap a photo and click on 'remove picture' on the device, it does appear in the Lightroom application and is not physically delete this photo on my camera?

Can I delete these photos my camera through the application without having to go to the folder on the device?

    Thank you.

After talking with tech support, it turns out there is no option to remove the original device file, as you can do on the desktop version.

    Swati Garg:

I'm afraid to tell Brandon but we do not have an option to remove photos from the mobile site of origin both through Lr. »

It is regrettable and very difficult to manage to go through file and remove as much as my phone does not display manually. DNG natively. I have to delete or remove the photo from Lightroom Mobile indicating the file name then outside of Lightroom Mobile I have to navigate to the location of the original file on my device find this file name and remove it from the device.
