• Implementation of Lightroom on the second computer

  I have just returned from a long assignment and finally took an iMac.  I've been running Lightroom 2.7 on my MacBook Pro, keeping all the image on a separate external hard drive files.

  How can I import my image hierarchy (about 8500 images, so not huge) in my second version of Lightroom on the new computer?  I want to assure you that all metadata and keywords categories image are imported as well.  I will continue to work on the external hard drive.

  It's pretty easy:

  Just install LR on the second computer and copy the .lrcat file from the old computer to the new and then open it using LR on the new computer. Make sure the external hard drive is attached.

  He has a record that lives in the same folder as your catalog file, named .lrdata. This package contains all the previews of your images that are displayed when you are in the generated Lightroom library Module. If you do not copy it to the new machine, LR it will rebuild, but it will take more time than would the copy operation, so you should copy this folder across, too.

  Under Settings/preferences/editing presets, there is a button that will tell you your presets folder. If you have created a preset of your choice, you can find them here and copy them to the equivalent location on the new computer.

  It is probably easier to re - specify your preferences, but you can look in the FAQ for this forum and find where they are being held on a Mac and move the preferences file, if you prefer.

  Yes that's correct.  It's two active computers.  However, if you disable on the other computer, you don't have to remove it, but Adobe considers that it is disabled.

  So, indeed, you can install on several computers, but you can have only 2 active at the same time and only use one at a time.

  This morning, I bought Lightroom 6.  It was very difficult to find the standalone version.  Everything indicates that joining CC but I can't for various reasons.  I bought a new Sony camera and LR did not accept my RAW images that's why upgrade.  I figured out and got the upgrade on my iMac, but I can't find out how to install it on my laptop.  Before I could just go to my account and download a second copy.  I can't do it.  Adobe makes everything so difficult if you do join cc.  Can anyone help please?

  No, this does not work John.  This is all very confusing.  I finally thought to it (I don't know how) but found a place to download the update, but then to accept my RAW images I also had the Application Download Manager and update that too.  Everything is very confused.  If I had not had a copy of Lightroom ever since first, he went out and had an account with Adobe, I would have probably given upward.  They do everything they can to hide the fact that you can buy stand alone and just keep harping on the cc.  If all goes well with my Nikon and Sony equipment I'm going to upgrade in the near future.  Thanks for your idea if.

  According to the EULA, you can install CC on 2 computers, but you can use them at the same time.

  You should have received a serial number when you first buy Lightroom. You have stored somewhere, not you? You just go to where you saved it, and that's all.

  If you have not saved a copy and that you have saved the Adobe software, you can simply open a session on your Adobe account and retrieve your serial number.

  Lightroom supplied key is usually cross-platform key it should work on both windows and mac at the same time.

  I suggest you please check the version of lightroom that you downloaded because currently you will only find lightroom 5 www.adobe.com and not the version 4.0 of Lightroom
