Lightroom will not start with the catalogue of external hard drive

Switching computers (Mac), I've updated Lightroom 6 4. He opened with an old catalog that won't only up until 2013, which is on an external drive. I tried to revive with my current catalog, and I get a message: Lightroom catalog cannot be used because the parent folder "/Volumes/ (name) / (name) of the hand catalog / (name) of the hand catalog" does not allow the files it contains. El Capitan has more patch file permissions in disk utility and, in addition, this catalog is on the same drive as the oldest catalogue is on. Any ideas?

Sharing and permissions of the older cases seems to be a problem with El Capitan.  I tried to copy a folder to an external drive. This file was created and copied using the Mavericks.  It would not copy. Said, I have no privileges, I think that the message. It was all in Finder NOT lightroom.

So, I clicked on the folder parent in question;  and then did you read the information.  In the result pane, I changed the permissions to "everyone".  It worked.  Then once it has been copied, I changed it back!  It takes a few minutes to update and warns that it can not be cancelled?  Don't know what it means until I am able to change permissions back.

In any case; Save then try this. I said back first?  Yes.  YMMV.

  • computer will not start with the disc

I use vista and my computer does not start because of a corrupted file.

I put my vista disk in such suggested, but the screen does not move any command of keys to press and just goes round in a loop. So I can't the computer to start and fix.

I changed the bios to boot from the cd as first choice but still no results.

    can anyone help?

Could it be that the disk driver does not work like the disk isn't loading? Or the disc will not load because the press any key order is not coming?

I am old enough and not very technically experienced but this computer has served me well and I have a lot of information that I need to go down there if I have to buy another.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you have correctly setting the boot order in the BIOS to CD/DVD first, and the computer does not start, your problem has nothing to do with the driver for the CD/DVD drive. Also running in safe mode or SFC can maybe help you.

The reason that pilots, safe mode and FCS can help you is the same for all three: boot (if from the hard drive or a CD or DVD) takes place before loading Windows. If it boots from a CD or a bootable DVD, the problem has nothing to do with Windows. It's a hardware problem. I don't know what the problem is, but it is possible that the CD/DVD drive is dead.

What is wrong can but fixable, but whether it is cost-effective to do so is another matter. It depends on what the problem is. If the CD/DVD player, they are inexpensive, so replacement should not be expensive. Fortunately, it's not like there is a problem with the hard drive, so even if you buy a new computer, you must be able to remove the hard drive from the old computer, put it in an external enclosure and to transfer the data to the new computer.

Let me add another point: you say "I have a lot of information that I need to get off it if I have to buy another." This suggests that you don't regularly back up your data on an external support. If this is the case, you've played with fire. It is always possible that a hard disk crash, the user error, close to love at first sight, virus attack, even stolen computer, can result in the loss of everything on your drive. As it has often been said, it is not a question of whether you will have a problem, but when.

  • Computer does not start if the 150 GB Toshiba HARD drive is connected

Hi, I bought an external hard drive of 150 GB PX1220E of pc world a few days ago. When I start my PC it sticks on the splash screen, and I have to unplug the usb cable and restart the pc, then connect the drive again to use it.

Is this an error with the drive?

    Hello

I googled a bit and it seems that it is really a Toshiba HDD.
However, for me, this is NOT a malfunction.
The external HARD disk is connected before starting. So I think that the computer is trying to boot from the external HARD drive and so it freezes.

You should check the boot order in the BIOS and connect the HARD drive after you start the procedure.

  • What is an I / Q error? This occurs with the backups using external hard drive SeaGate

We have two external hard drives; a 3Terabyte (don't know how it) Seagate and another whose name escapes me. On the Seagate, I get the message: backup did not complete due to I / Q error. What is I / Q error and how to fix this? If all goes well, not a complicated process.

Thanks for any help. Hope I selected the areas to fix this, below.

    Fred, SR.

    Win7 64 bit, Office 2010

    Hello

I assumed that by I / Q error you mean error e/s? Run chkdsk on the drive Seagate:

Start > Search bar > type cmd right click and select run as administrator

High CMD should now be open, type the following:

    CHKDSK x: /r

x involves the reader of your letter, so if your hard drive in question is the letter c, it would be:

    CHKDSK c: /r

Restart the system and allow to run chkdsk.

    Kind regards

  • Aspire S3 - will not start with the disc of recovery USB USB ports.

I try to use a USB drive to recovery W8 (made with the acer recovery management) in my S3-391.  The computer starts not with a USB key into one of the ports.  When turned on, the computer will display the "Acer" screen, then the screen goes black, then the "Acer" screen is displayed again, and then the screen goes black again.  It buckle like that until I hold down the power button for a hard cock.  Pressing F2 or delete only put the BIOS or something.  The computer starts well W8 and BIOS without anything connected to the USB ports.  I'm still under BIOS v. 2.07, but I don't know if that has anything to do with it, since I can't do the BIOS with USB in. I've never updated a BIOS but I'm decently computer and could probably google my way through it, if you think it will help.

Everyone knows that or something like that?

    Thank you.

Well, I'm happy that we're sorted with the recovery disk!

  • Pavilion p6 - 2120t: Windows will not start with the new graphics card

Installed a Zotac GT 740 profile down in my desktop PC graphics card HP Pavilion p6 - 2120t and now the PC does not start.

HP Pavilion p6 - 2120t CTO desktop PC

    Configuration:
    Intel Pentium CPU [email protected]
    4.0 GB RAM
Intel HD Graphics Driver version Family: 8.15.10.2291 dated 27/01/2011
Motherboard: IPISB-CU (Carmel2) (1 open PCI Express 16 expansion slot pins)

    BIOS to Version 7.18

    Running:
    Windows 7 Home premium 64-bit w/service pack 1
Two monitors (VGA, 1 digital port 1)

Before installing the new graphics card, I replaced the power supply original 300w with a 400w power supply.

For starters, I disabled the onboard graphics in Device Manager. Then, I opened the case and installed the GT-740 in the open PCI Express slot. I made sure that the card was fully engaged in the slot.

I plugged both monitors to their connections voted on the new map.

When I tried to boot the PC, the digital monitor displays the screen HP (the one that indicates which key support to achieve the start menu) and then frozen. No other entries of key or mouse have been accepted.

The PC then sounds 4 short beeps (about 10 seconds between each beep) and then a long beep before turning off the signal to the screen.

Then, I removed the new graphics card on the PC that starts then. I have reactivated the original graphics drivers and the PC then worked normally.

Tried the above process two more times with the same results.

I then went into the start menu to look at the BIOS. The menu of the BIOS shows two options:

    > Sources of boot UEFI

    Windows Boot Manager

    > Sources of boot legacy

    ATAP I CD/DVD player

    SATA2

    Hard drive

    SATA0

Network controller (Realtek PXE B06 D00)

PC using UEFI Boot Manager Windows boots normally

I have not tried Legacy Boot Sources because I don't know which one to choose.

I went to the HP site and looked for an update to the newest BIOS, but updating them is a rev version 7.16 while my PC shows my BIOS to version 7.18

I know that others have had a similar problem but I have not seen a solution that works for my PC.

    Any advice would be welcome.
    Thanks for your time.

    Hello

Your PC isn't spec'd to run Windows 7 using the Windows Boot Manager.  I expect to a UEFI-based graphics card likely to work on an HP PC that does not have a BIOS version 8.

The below listed OEM HP, graphics cards should work in your PC using a normal non - UEFI W7 and W8 installation.

  • 1800 514 does not start with the new dvd/CD-RW drive

My old dvd - rom on my toshiba s1800-514 drive was broken, so I had to replace it. I used an old teac as a temporary replacement cd-rom drive. but now, I bought a new dvd/CD-RW-drive combo (toshiba sd-r2612). but the laptop does not seem to post, I get the "toshiba" screen (when it says press f12 to select boot device). but it stops there and does nothing. I can open the player, it seems to be connected ok.

Why won't it work? (only the bios setting which applies is one that I can't change...). the drive is nine ar so small chance it's already broken.

    What should do?

  • Laptop will not start without the battery attached

    Hello

I have a Hp pavilion dv6700 series (dv6840el) and just, it will not start without the battery attached.

If I plug in the AC adapter, I get some computer activity (fan, noise of the dvd player and HD drive spins) for about 5 seconds, then shuts down.

Once I plug the battery (which is dying, who need a replacement), the laptop starts fine.

So my question is: what is a motherboard or a problem with the AC adapter?

The AC adapter looks ok, however. But if I am considering buying a spare battery, I assure you that I have a new adapter as well.

My dell optiplex 740 will not start.  The screen is black, once it displays the Dell logo.  It does not say that the computer is in mode 'sleep'.

    1. Did you the latest changes on the computer?
    2. When was the last time it was working fine?
    3. You receive an error message?

    Method 1

See the articles below and check if it helps.

Computer stops responding with a black screen when you start Windows XP

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/314503

After the Windows Logo appears or after you log in to Windows, a Windows XP computer cannot display the wallpaper, a black screen or a blue screen

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/318027

    Method 2

I suggest that you start the computer in the last good known Configuration mode and safe mode, post back with the result.

A description of the options to start in Windows XP Mode

How to fix a computer that does not start

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-XP/help/Setup/how-to-fix-computer-that-will-not-start

    Method 3

If the computer can boot in any mode, then I suggest that you perform the clean boot procedure and check if it helps.

It is possible that some third-party programs installed on the computer is causing the problem.

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows XP by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

See section to learn more about how to clean boot.
