Limit of 2 TB ESXi 5.0? Help

I've updated my 5.0 virtual machine environment and ran into a problem that I wasn't expecting to 5.0.  I'm not able to add a 2.5 TB LUN to my host. Is there a still a limitation? I under ESXi 5.0 Standard.  Any advice will be useful.

No - ESXi 5 does support more than 2 TB of LUN - you can see page 115 of the http://pubs.vmware.com/vsphere-50/topic/com.vmware.ICbase/PDF/vsphere-esxi-vcenter-server-50-storage-guide.pdf for confirmation. What type of storage is - SAN or local disk? Was there any system/partitioning preexisitng disk file

If you use the button symbol then you don't really have control over the State of the button. Which is controlled by the button symbol itself, the top, the more States out of service are built. In order to get "Lock" buttons, you will need to use a movieClip instead of a button and then use Actionscript to change how the button looks like the user. There are two ways to achieve this. Here is a link to a few different ways to do this that I wrote a few years "there are: Flash buttons lock "

Sit behind your firewall router esxi, transfer 443 to esxi management IP and ensure that management network vmkernel has the internal IP address of router as its default gateway.

  • ESXI noob needing help

We had a dell r910 running windows server 2008 r2. We decided to take the used off r2 Vm converter on it and then unloaded this vmdk to a usb port.  Now, we have the dell r910 running esxi. Is there one way other than through the network, to mount as usb and add the vmdk so that I can get my r2 up and running virtually?

I understand. Just use new converter. Attach the USB device to a computer that has the installed converter. Point the source to the location of the converted Windows Server and then point the destination to the new ESXi host.

  • Creating a virtual file server on ESXi. Limit of 2 TB will be a problem?

    Hello

I'm planning to virtualize a couple of my servers, but some have

questions about the size limit of 2 TB for volumes on ESXi. I guess that let

me tell you what I want to do and you would be grateful if you can tell me

If it's possible or not, and if yes, what is the best way to implement.

I'm new to VM is so patient with me if I do not use terminology

    correctly.

I want to virtualize my file server. For now, it is a physical

Server that connects to an iSCSI SAN (Dell PowerVault MD3000i) network, and the

LUNS assigned to it is about 5 TBs. To be more precise, the server has a

F: drive, which is a volume of 5 TB on the SAN. This disc has an action

This is useful to our main file server.

I wonder if I create a computer virtual on ESXi server, can I attach this same

Volume 5 to for this virtual machine in the same way I have such that it is connected to the physical

box (if the virtual machine will have the same drive F:, which is actually the 5 TB

LUN on the SAN)? This new virtual machine would replace the old physical box, if

they would not both connected at the same time, in case that

questions. I know it of just the 2 TB limit, but is it just for

data warehouses? Which means, I have no need of virtual on files

This volume, they will be on local storage, I want just the virtual machine itself

have this volume mounted as a drive inside the BONE, so it acts as a

file server (I hope I explained this right). Is this possible, or

always do in the 2 TB limit in this case?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Convert Win2000 SP4-> ESXi (no link between P-> ESXi..)

    Hello!

I am not so experienced in the field of the virtual machine. In fact, I installed ESXi 5.0 today! But I've been running ESXi3.5 and workstation before too...

I searched my question but can't find someone the same question as me...

That's what I want to do:

Convert a physical machine (Windows 2000 SP4) to a VM machine to run in ESXi 5.0...

To do this, I downloaded VMware vCenter Converter Standalone 5.0...

The machine, I need to convert is a client and I have remote access and other machines too... But my problem is that I don't have access to the physical machine ESXi server and which seems to be a condition? Can someone help me answer this question?

I read somewhere that the converter can also use Acronis images?... Maybe I can (if above does not work) to create an acronis image and convert that one?

Should I the vCenter for this feature? Is it free? I am running vSphere Client on my atm machine.

    Additional question:

The ESXi 5.0 is limited to 32 GB of RAM for the server? He said something like that when I got my free license code... I'm under 48 GB of ram in my server...

Ideally you would have access to the ESXi host, Yes. You can use the Type of Destination of "VMware Workstation or another VMware virtual machine" in the converter and then copy these files to the location where the 5 ESXi host is and rerun the converter. You need not vCenter Server to P2V and conversions Acronis True Image Echo, 9.1, 9.5, and Acronis True Image Home 10 and 11 (.tib) formats are supported, you can also go this route. Whatever it is, you are looking at a two-stage process do not have access to the ESXi host on the source computer.

32 GB is the memory limit for the free ESXi.

    Good luck!

  • Not Actived frame "CHASSIS-LIMIT-EXCEEDED."

    Hi all,

We have an infrastructure with two fabrics of interconnection Cisco UCS 6120, the version installed is 1.2 (1 d), now that we have connected 12 chassis UCS 5108 with 1 link in 'Political discovery Chassis', so we have 12 port configured server and we have installed all the port licenses required on each interconnection fabric.

We have the 1.2 (1 d) version supports up to 12 chassis running, but we can not activate more than 10 chassis, in the UCS Manager appear this message "CHASSIS-LIMIT-a EXCEEDED."

    Can anyone help us.

    Thank you, bye

    Marco Pagani

In 1.2 (1 d) UCS does support more than 10 chassis. In support of more, the UCS must be upgraded to 1.3 (1 c) or higher.

    Hope that helps.

  • Group on 3005 limit

Nobody knows what the limit for the number of groups on a concentrator 3005? I'm going to have to set up a large number to support the static by PC IP addressing, but worry that I can hit a real limit or practical. I scoured records with no luck to find a strict limit listed.

Go to the Help menu of this hub and on the left column, scroll down and click on where it says: "User Management: Overview". It will give you a link to table 8.1, which tells you that you have configured for the 3005 users and 100 groups. For example, if you have 40 groups on the hub, you can have 60 users on the local database.

    Hello

I assume that your customer has forgotten to update the vCenter server before it has updated the hosts.

You must have at least version 5.5 U3b on the vCenter to manage the hosts of these version.

  • Minimum hardware requirements for ESXi 5

    Hello

I am a newbie of virtualization and ESXi so please help me on these issues:

I intend to host 1 Windows 2008 Server and 1 Pfsense on the same host with ESXi. The two servers to serve a small number of users (less than 10). The Win2k8 runs just small .NET application and the just Pfsense will act as a router/gateway for web portal (without VPN, nothing complicated here).

I checked the minimum requirements for VMWare ESXi here (KB VMware: minimum system requirements for installing ESX/ESXi) but still uncertain before buying new equipment to run ESXi because the specifications said ESXi only works on 64-bit x 86 CPU.

    I'm looking at this PC:

    CPU: Processor Intel® Celeron® 1037U (2 MB Cache, 1.80 GHz)

    RAM: 8G RAM Support memory DDR3 2 G / 4G / 8G / 16G, DDR3 1333 / 1600 MHz

    Storage: 64G SSD

ESXi will install OK on this system?

    Thank you

    Hello

Intel http://ark.intel.com/products/71995/Intel-Celeron-Processor-1037U-2M-Cache-1_80-GHz CPU specs this should work in general, but can cause performance problems as this Celeron has only 2 hearts.

Another thing to consider is the RAM, ESXi 5.5 OS takes about 4 GB of RAM on the 8 GB leaving you 4 GB for VMs Windows 2008 with less than 4 GB wil be quite slow and sooner or later begin to swap to disk.

Also the motherboard used is something check with HCL as at the storage controller and connect it on Board should be compatible.

The road easier to go is to get the material at the level of the server that is listed in the HCL, you can find systems awarded new/used being fully compatible. It would be much more reliable than the construction of a whitebox on office equipment system.

  • HP DL380 G6 ESXi 5.5 capable of detecting devices of storage but unable to create data warehouses

I will say upfront I am newbie and in need of assistance.

I have a HP DL380 G6 for which I installed iso customized for ESXi with the help of a CD-Rom, installed everything great, no errors, health status shows all green.

    I have 3 hard drives in bays, 500GB, 500GB and 1 TB.

Sensors see the three connected but in ESXi under storage I cannot see one, could not create a data store.

My goal is to have a hard disk for each operating system that you are separate, I don't really care about RAID that I think that maybe part of the problem.

I have attached the photos if someone can help me here.

    Hello

first of all, I would like to check if the latest Proliant SPP (service pack) is installed, or at less the systems BIOS, firmware for the P410i, network cards and the HP ILO (if you have a) is up-to-date. Latest version of the firmware of the P410i is 3.30 (B) insofar as I see, you have 3.00.

Then go into the P410i RAID configuration and check if everything is configured correctly, it. It looks like at least the 1 TB drive and probably one of the 500 GB drives are not configured in the settings of the controller. This is why there is no volume showing in VMWare.

If you change the configuration in P410i referring to disk/RAID volumes you may need to reinstall VMWare.

  • Created in Esxi virtual MACHINE can't see the network

    Hello

I installed Esxi 5.5 and I have no problem to access and create a virtual machine.

However, the virtual machine, which is 2012 Windows, does not begin with a network adapter.

When I check the configuration of the VM, the network adapter is connected, turned on, E1000E but says directpath e/s is not supported. I don't have VMware tools installed in the virtual machine.

I don't understand where the problem lies. I connect to Esxi ok. I can run the virtual machine in Esxi client ok, but the images says that there is no network.

I created the VM Windows before 2012, outside of Esxi and the network built in card is detected ok.

STOP PRESS - in computer management Windows, peripheral, the Ethernet controller is not recognized. So, how can I get the virtual machine to recognize when it is running in ESXI?

    Help?

  • Definition of a strategy of age of password on ESXi 5.0 (esxcfg-auth now gone)?

Our customer security policy is to set an age limit on user accounts ESXi. On ESX 4.0 I used esxcfg-auth - passmaxdays = 40 , but this command is no longer available in ESXi 5.0. Can someone if there is a simple way to do this without bothering too much at a granular level? I am really struggling to find it.

I know about locking etc mode. It is a highly secure customer and they want precisely she defined rather than relying on Lockdown.

    Thank you

Yes currently password aging policy is not supported on eSXi 5 and no plans are currently able to support... You can request a feature http://www.vmware.com/in/support/policies/feature.html
