• Can I change my text box proportionally? I want to keep it in the square when the scaling!

  I love the sensitive provision, with the exception, why the text boxes cannot restrict or keep its proportions when I resize the browser window?   I am currently working on a PDF form in Acrobat Pro for a small company, and they asked if there was a way to limit the amount of text that you can put in each text box to the actual size of the box. For example, when entering in your information, the text should be limited to the size of the text box and allows more to be written after that. I already disabled 'Scroll long text' properties tab, but for some reason any it always scrolls when you type beyond the limits of the area. Is there a way to fix this?

  You may need to limit the size of the text by making a right click on the text field, and then select Properties.

  The dialog box "Text field properties", go to the 'Options' tab and then enter the number of characters you want in the option "limit of characters.

  I have a text box that tasks in figures (do a validation prior to submitting the page). Now, I want to limit the magnitude of the number. Like, I want to store only 3 digits after the decimal point to the database.
  
  I can't give this column prsition and scale in some other grounds (Number (6.3)).
  
  Either way is acceptable: either allow the user to enter only 3 ditigits after the desimal point (may be it's hard) or submit the page check when scale and round the number to 3 digits after the decimal place and store to th db.
  
  How can I do?

  You can use submit after calculation for round the value.
  Or maybe that you add to the onchange event of the item and use javascript to round and return value.

• A Text box that is easy to use with no size limit!

  This is something that you should program into your site and not something that Dreamweaver automatically.

  The sounds of your text box, you need a script RTE (Rich Text Editor).  CKEditor is a perfect example of this for PHP Web based: http://ckeditor.com/ .

  For drag / drop, you can find a good example in the Widget browser ( http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/widgetbrowser/ ).  The only problem with that is that it requires it to be on a HTML5 document.  There is also a movable example in the JQuery UI ( http://jqueryui.com/demos/draggable/ ).

• Pages is not track changes inside the text boxes?

  I try to use Pages, industry changes, but it seems to be limited to body text. If I include images deleted, or if I change the text inside the text boxes, no changes are followed. What is a limit? (Version 5.6.1 of pages)

  Hello - I use the latest version of Adobe Illustrator CC on Windows 7. I need to make a text box with columns to 32.875 w x 20 h. I use the text tool, draw the box at that size and then open the "type area options" dialog box to specify the column number, gutter width etc. and it automatically resizes the text to 13.888 box w x 13,889 h without fault. I try to type the right width and height in the appropriate space and I hear the windows "error". When I click on 'Preview' show me the box of text resized to 13.888x13.999 so I don't see what I'm doing. It's infuriating, please, someone else had this problem?

  I checked the window of 'transformation' - and the 'blocking' to constrain the proportion of width and height is "unlocked."

  I has a limit to the width of the columns that you have found. For the size that you want, you will need to do it manually.

  The two has a different function, as InDesign adds the overflow without showing the text in the container but in Muse, the container would be extended with text.

  In case you want to limit which, there is workaround. Enter the text in the image and then saw in the browser, check the source and copy the ID of the text object.

  The properties of the page, in HTML you can set different attributes for the text which would show the same when the site is published.

  It seems silly that it is so easy to define the maximum number of characters in a text box (IE. Properties > Options > characters limit of X) but that there is no easy equaivalent to the minimum number of characters? At least not in Acrobat 9 in any case, don't know versions ever!

  That was a rhetorical question. So what you really want, it's if the field is not empty, it would take at least a minimum number of characters. What is the minimum number that you want to apply? You'd probably want to use a custom for this validation script, but what exactly do you want to happen if the user enters only three characters, but the minimum you want is four? Should be rejected three characters who were seized in total, or should focus just the back of the field value so that the user can enter, or something else?

  The simplistic way to do is to put the text object in an envelope of distortion. Then the text automatically dimensionnera to the size of the envelope. If you want to limit the resizing of the text vertically or horizontally, put the right way (no outline or background) inside the envelope, as well as the text. The path will require the distortion, depending on its length and wheather it is vertical or horizontal. The text can be assigned as a variable.

• Drop-down list complicated, making several text boxes

  Hello everyone. I searched high and low for something to talk about exactly how to do what I want - but I'm not finding anything that is quite right. Anyway, I want a drop down (with potentially hundreds of choice - I'd like to limit the number, but there is really no way...) where someone can choose their selection, then, after this election, several other text fields are filled with the corresponding information. I would like to have a file of database with the drop-down list of choices, then define somehow this on the ground and then what information goes into the next text box. This way you can get something from the menu drop down and the other boxes get filled correctly. Is this possible?

  Hi Joel, I think, if the information does not change much then your best bet is to stay in shape, as independent as possible, is to have the information contained in the form.  There are a number of connectivity problems that your users could suffer with an external data source.  I do not expect performance to be a problem, I developed forms with thousands of selections in a drop down, you can find the example I did a drop-down list of useful research in the Adobe Cookbook section, http://cookbooks.adobe.com/post_Drop_Down_List_Control_with_auto_complete__Searcha-18402.h tml, if your data contains a hierarchy then there are a number of examples around dependent dropdown lists to try , like this one http://thelivecycle.blogspot.com.au/2011/01/multi-level-dropdown-list.html. • Gray out or disable the text box

  I have a drop-down list called CN_Entry_Initials with options of a "C" or a "N". I also called Part_Number to enter a part number in a text box. I want the text box part number be grayed out or disabled until a "C" or an "N" was chosen out of the CN_Entry_Initials of the menu drop down. I have this operation, except that I can't add it to almost anything. I think it's something to do with the way in which I have if statement for this disabled text box, or do I have to change the touch of a button "submit it". Does anyone know how to fix this? Below is the javascript and the drop down menu code menu and the text of the box as well as to add it or submit button. There are additional stuff in Javascript I have on the page, but I don't need to worry about those things because they do not work properly. I have the code text box disabled in the upper part of the javascript in the verify() function code. Thank you.

  Seems that the braces "{" Javascript function are incorrect, the audit function performs only the feature of toggling the Part_Number text box which is the reason why the alert function worked when you added it in here.

  What you can do is to create a separate function which just active / disable the Part_Number text box and add it to the onchange event of the area of selection.

  If you use a component to scroll, you can eventually use the ScrollPane for movieclips instead.

  The Adobe AS2 components reference:

  " The ScrollPane component to view video clips, the JPEGs and SWFs in a scrollable area. Using a scroll pane, you can limit the amount of space occupied by these types of media screen. The scroll pane can display the content loaded from a local drive or on the Internet. You can set this content during programming and execution with ActionScript. "page 1093 "

  This way you could integrate the area of dynamic text (for your text) both the movieclip (which has the text for your image inside box) that you can then scale them both in an another movieclip (parent), you use the ScrollPane component on.

  This way your text in dynamic text field dimensionnera not, the image can be scaleed to the size of what ever you like (dynamically) and if the two are sitting in a parent movieclip, this parent movieclip may have a ScrollPane component on it.

  How does that sound?

  I'm pretty new in InDesign. I was wondering if there's some way to do master text box changes reflect through the whole document used this master page after you move the text boxes on the documents. Is this possible?

  So. Let's say that there is the block of text with the text on the master page. I decided to use this master page on a given document, but I needed to move the block of text with the text in this document. I won't be able to change the master page text?

  Right. Once ignore you it and move on the live page, change the text on the master does not affect the text on the live page.

  If you have the same frame with the same variable text appear in the same place on multiple pages, put that image on a master page is a good way to make your life easier. But if you need the same frame with the same variable text appears upwards in * different * places on many pages, there are more effective ways.

  You don't mention a version. CS3 and CS4 allow variables (Type > text Variables). You can create a custom text variable and insert this variable in your document. Change the definition of the variable and this will change all at once. I think that a custom text variable cannot be more than one line long, but the only limit to the length of the line is the length of the block of text that is.

  For more than one line, you can make your block of text in a separate document, export it to PDF and then place the PDF anywhere in your document. Edit the new document, PDF export and it will change all at once. In CS3 or CS4, you can also directly put your separate Indesign document into your working document. No necessary PDF.
