Limits of browser on phone

Hi, I use Phonegap to build an Android application using html, css and js. Now, when I test the app on my desktop using PhoneGap Office, depending on the browser I use, I could see a difference in the behavior of the application according to the browser quirks for example IE 8 does not support IndexedDB so if I test the app in IE 8, the application will not work in the browser that the app relies on IndexedDB.

So, when I dress warmly the app to create an apk for installation, what browser should I use on the phone, that the application is installed?

I'm guessing (and hoping) that the app is not related to a browser as such and the group to the top of the app in an apk of any browser specific issues are treated?

So, what I demand, that is should I worry what browser and version of the end user uses on their phone or not?

See you soon

John

PhoneGap will use a native webview for the operating system they run on. As you have discovered with desktop browsers, the same question can exist in Android because versions of the wide range of people OS installed. But there are ways around this, specifically using the crosswalk. This bundle up the last webview using Google Chrome and provide you with a consistent experience between the different versions of Android.

    Many people,

Just got my new BB Bold 9900. When I try and close the web browser, it does not close completely.

I press the BB button (next to compose on the keyboard), scroll to the bottom and click Close. However when I hold in this BB button to view open applications, the icon of the browser is still there.

Is this normal? Must the browser application always run in the background?

    You're close it properly.

Closed browser is not drain the battery. A left pending in the context of an active Web site it will deplete quickly.

There are about 5 apps which always run in the background... browser, BBM, phone, home screen and Messages.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones phone slow - activity monitor - the file manager/Explorer

In fact, I have 3 questions that are more or less related I think.  (1) I installed a lot of apps since getting my 9530 Storm a few days ago, especially to try.  Since then, occasionally when I try to do something, I'll see just the icon of "transformation" (the circular icon with the one hand forward like a clock) for a very long time.  It is not always the same app or thing I try to do.  I suspect that * part * of the problem is that I was not closing apps - that moving from one to the other, and he left running in memory to the bottom of things (in particular, I suspect PocketDay and Internet browser for it).  Keep the battery solved the problem every time.  This leads to my next question: (2) is it a kind of application or activity monitor app which will let me know what programs are juice?  I saw a kind of app somewhere that is supposed to kind of manage the memory and do a "battery pull reboot" without physically pull the battery.  Maybe that's what I'm looking for.  (3) is there a kind of thing edge file manager/Explorer?  I know there must be an app for this, and I have no problem any display on my lap as mass storage.  I'm talking about something from the BB itself.  Recommendations for a good?   Thanks for any comment on this.  I will do this kind of things slowly, but thought it was a jet-out for some ideas.

    Hello!

    Lots of advice... start here...

There are three types of potential memory on a BB: 1) application memory, the device memory) 2 and 3) Media/SD memory card

Application memory - it is the most important; It is protected (not available to the user), dedicated and (fixed size) space as the destination for the installation of applications (more a few storage applications, overhead and other costs). You can't touch AppMemory. You cannot improve the maximum AppMemory that your BB has. It is what it is. Applications can install only here... There is no other choice.

The device memory - it is space on your BB you can touch these files, images, media, etc. In general, it is not very big, but it is available.

Memory card SD/Media - is what it says... your SD card to store files, media, photos, etc.. It can be as large as your BB OS can support... see this KB:
    http://www.BlackBerry.com/BTSC/KB05461

On some devices/OS levels, enforcement and the memory of the device are combined into "free file"... This is, IMO, a little more difficult to administer that you can't see really how AppMemory you have. Nevertheless, here are some tips to use:
    http://www.BlackBerry.com/BTSC/KB15345
    http://www.BlackBerry.com/BTSC/KB14320
    http://www.BlackBerry.com/BTSC/KB14213

Finally, it is always important to correctly close applications when you are finished with them. Using the back or on the red button won't do that - those leave the app to decide what to do... and some let themselves memory-resident, consumes resources on your BB, slowing down the overall performance. Rather, to close an application, press the BBKey and select 'Farm' or 'Quit'... that forces the application to be closed, freeing for your new use the resources it consumed. Some applications will always be running (in general - BBMessenger, browser, homescreen, phone and Messages)... but, you should always close them properly - especially the browser... If we leave on a web page, it will not consume only additional resources, but the power of the battery as well.

Now, to your question about memory management and a reboot Batt-Pull simulated... There is indeed an application for the part... of the latter it is called QuickPull and it is available via AppWorld or directly from Steelhorn. I have the pro version and it works fine - except that he can't perform the reset if the device is locked with a password. But I can work around that. I restart my storm every night and allows me to stay in good shape... full batt-tire is a rare thing now (zero not... just rare).

Regarding the management of files embedded... Indeed it is. Launch the Media application, but do not select any of the individual applications. Press the BBKey and select Explorer... you are now in the native file Explorer.

    See you soon!

    Good luck!

I have samsung laptop 64-bit of windows 8. The problem is that this laptop will not connect to the wifi hotspot, I create using another laptop of Dell in which windows 8.1 is installed. In fact my Samsung laptop connects to the wifi hotspot, but the status of the connection is limited. My cell phone and other portable computers connect with the same point of access without any problem. I use the Connectify software to create hotspot. The problem is only with the portable Windows 8 Samsung. Also, when I try to share data between the computer samsung laptop and another laptop using cable ethernet or shareit app, the connection remains limited which means that I can't share the data. But when I try to share the data using Ethernet cable or shareit app between my Dell laptop and a few other laptop computer, the connection is established without any problem and normally the data are transferred.

I don't know why this is happening with my Samsung laptop. The problem is specifically with the Samsung laptop. Can anyone help?

    Hello Mary,.

Thanks for posting your question on the Microsoft community.

We need more information about the issue so that we can help you better.

What is the number of full model of your Samsung laptop?

Thank you for details on the issue.

This problem can occur because the parameters or corrupt network drivers. This can also occur due to some problems with the connection of network as the incorrect connection settings.

I would suggest trying the following methods and check if it helps.

    Method 1:

Run troubleshooting network adapter and check. Please follow these steps:

    a. press Windows + C keys and click on Search.
    b. type Troubleshooting in the search box and click on it in the search results.
    c. click on "display all" and then click on 'network card'.
    d. click on 'Next' and follow the on-screen instructions.

Please also run Troubleshooting Internet connections. You can follow the steps above. Click on 'Internet connection' instead of 'network card'.

If this does not help, use method 2.

    Method 2:
Please use the steps outlined in this article and the Coachman.

  • Tablet | Phone phone version numbers disappear

Greetings Muse-ers. My great Muse site has great Tablet/phone functionality, but telephone numbers listed on the contact page of the desktop version disappear as shown while on the contact pages for versions of the Tablet and phone. I am betting that there something cope with touch capabilities in these versions. How can I force those phone numbers view properly on versions of the Tablet and phone?

Loading the site compressed in a desktop browser displays phone numbers, but on devices iOS as the iPad, phone numbers listed on the contact page are not displayed.  They ARE tactile, and if you press on close by, you will get the phone call.  Any thoughts?

Oddly enough, the phone number in the header above the two poster AND dials the number on iOS.

    I thank all in advance.

    http://ACPC.BusinessCatalyst.com/Tablet/contact-us.html

Answered the question.  It seems that the mobile OS versions of the site Muse unilaterally change the phone numbers to the white color on the device. then, I placed a filled rectangle of color behind the phone numbers, and now they can be viewed. So there you have it.

  • BlackBerry smartphones can not download applications

Hello, I recently brought the new 9320. I have the card memory base San Disk that come with the Blackberry. Also, as soon as I put the phone I downloaded Blackberry Desktop Support software. The desktop software and storage on the phone at the same time options I have a 14.4 MB remaining on the phone storage and 1.4 GB left on my memory card. When I try to download apps on the phone via my WiFi it is said that there is not enough remaining space. I guess that the phone will only attempt to download the application in the device memory. Is it possible that I can get the phone to automatically download the application directly on my memory card? Or is there another problem that prevents me download apps?

    Thank you.

Hello and welcome to the community!

There are three types of potential memory on a BB: 1) application memory, the device memory) 2 and 3) Media/SD Card Memory.

Application memory - it is the most important; It is protected (not available to the user), dedicated and (fixed size) space as the destination for the installation of applications (the BONE itself more certain applications storage, overhead and such). You can't touch AppMemory. You cannot improve the maximum AppMemory that your BB has. It is what it is. Applications can install only here... There is no other choice.

The device memory - it is space on your BB you can touch these files, images, media, etc. In general, it is not very big, but it is available.

Memory card SD/Media- is what it says... your SD card to store files, media, photos, etc.. It can be as large as your BB OS can support... see this KB:

    • KB05461 Sizes of card MicroSD taken in charge by the BlackBerry device software

On some devices/OS levels, you can see 'Free file' (Options > status), I think this is equivalent to AppMemory. You can see on other devices, all the memory usage levels three (Options > memory). Here are some tips to use:

    • KB02843 What is the function of low memory manager on the BlackBerry smartphone
    • KB14320 How to maximize space and power battery life on the BlackBerry smartphone
    • KB14213 Call logs, SMS text and email messages are deleted from the BlackBerry smartphone

Finally, it is always important to correctly close applications when you are finished with them. Using the back or on the red button won't do that - those leave the app to decide what to do... and some let themselves memory-resident, consumes resources on your BB, slowing down the overall performance. On the contrary, to close an application, tap on and select 'Close' or 'Quit'... which force the application to be closed, freeing resources for your new use it consumed. Some applications will always be running (in general - BBMessenger, browser, homescreen, phone and Messages)... but, you should always close them properly - especially the browser... If we leave on a web page, it will not consume only additional resources, but the power of the battery as well.

In addition, each time a random strange behavior or slow creeps, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the hood back and remove the battery. Wait a minute, then replace the battery and cover. Power on and wait patiently through the long reboot - about 5 minutes. See if things return to functioning. Like all computing devices, BB suffers from memory leaks and others... with a hard reboot is the best remedy. Some have taken to do this on a regular basis as a preventive measure... some as often as once a day. Others got the app QuickPull to automate a simulated Batt Pull.

Thus, issues of the app, it is a question of AppMemory... Please see the information above in order to maximize the amount of free AppMemory on your BB. If your particular model of BB has a limited amount of total AppMemory, then you must understand the mixture of 'must have' for you and then give priority to your "optional elements" in order to charge as much as you can, sacrifice these things of lower priority.

    Good luck!

Age of your device is not relevant. If your usage patterns consume a lot of resources, it's the situation. But I have no way of knowing what your habits are, so I can't guide you. Basically, however, you will need to find out what is 'normal' for your usage patterns and then only worry when things diverge significantly from that. If it means charge 3 times a day due to a very intense use, that's what it means.

    Hello!

The quick answer to your question is 'no' - the amount of AppMemory is fixed and no another type of memory can be used to increase the amount of AppMemory. This is a physical limitation that cannot be overcome. There are tips and Add-ons that will swap apps in and out of AppMemory if necessary, but the application can be run within the AppMemory.

As a result, the long answer...

There are several things that happen at the start of the computer before windows even starts.  If your computer does not have a message\OEM BIOS splash screen then you have a hardware problem and not a software problem.  It is likely that the PC would have did the same at the next reboot.  You should contact your OEM for help to get the PC to boot from the BIOS and see all the material.
