Line breaks irregular in Indesign

The text in part of my document is irregular rupture. Some lines run completely on the margins, but other lines are in violation before reaching the right margin. I checked the hidden characters and I can't understand why he did this. The attached picture shows what happens in 2 places: first in the starting line «Copyright of the materials...» "and once again in the line '-black, Rebecca...". »

  • 6 InDesign cross-references cause mysterious line breaks

In a paragraph with several cross references (7), 6 InDesign, the scrolling text to the next line, apparently without reason, even if there is room for the text on the same line.

    Here is my example:

At the end of line 1): when I do a link to Unit 52, it makes the word 'article' drop down to the next line, even if there is room for it. (And also with 19, 22, when they are turned into links, they fall down.) If I remove the reference cross on "52" the word return upward on the same line.

    (1) animated and inanimate. This distinction affects how we use articles and verbs so we talk about in most of the units on the verbs and articles, but amongst the

    other places in the following units: 17, 19/B, 19/C, 21/B, 22/A, / 22B and 22 c /, / 23 c, 27 (used as an object), 52 (summary of articles).

So after I created the 7th cross references, like this line breaks:

    (1) animated and inanimate. This distinction affects how we use articles and verbs so we talk about in most of the units on the verbs and articles, but amongst the

    Articles).

It seems that 6 InDesign can't manage a number of cross-references in a single line.

Have you ever seen this happen? Do you know what to do about it?

Thanks for any input and help!

I've seen it happen. I also posted about it here, and introduced a bug report, but I have not tested to see if it is still present in the CC of InDesign post-CS6 versions. Cross-references can cause goofy cloth, implausible, in conditions that I can't identify. However, your text will probably compose as you expect if you pass the composer of normal paragraph to the paragraph universal composer.

  • Export EPUB from InDesign CC not including line breaks

I'm done with a book and it were formatted as I want. I'm exporting to EPUB with InDesign CC and image displayed in preview in iBooks and also through Kindle previewer. Everything is great except for one thing... where I created the page breaks, the exported file includes them.

I tried to export as HTML just to see what he's done and there's no line breaks. I know its owner markup (in kindle) but I still want to include them in some specific places (to mark the separation of the chapters).

In kindle, it's the tag they say to use: < mbp:pagebreak / >

In iBooks, I've yet to find how to create, I'll work on that today once I have set the kindle version.

Y at - it no way to force if it includes the breeze to the export line. Or otherwise, I could export to HTML but I can't find how to bring back in the EPUB format from there and also it did not include the fonts, so he had other issues to consider as I have a custom font that I used for the headers that looks really good and matches the font on the cover of the book as well... so I really want to keep that consistent if possible.

Are there tricks or things I can try here to improve my workflow and do a better job of separating the chapters?

You need to mark the paragraph style, you use for chapters in the paragraph Style Options/Export marking/Split (only EPUB) Document.

  • Automatically convert soft line breaks in the text box to hard breaks

I have the design of textbooks and convert to ePub recomposable, broke up. These ePub files get formatted then can be used interchangeably on the printed text. A book that I am currently in conversion is a literature book where there are lines of text with the overall line numbers so that teachers can quickly refer to a specific section of the text.

All the line breaks in the ID file are defined just by the edge of the text box. So the text box change sizes, all line breaks would also change. Isn't a problem until you need to keep these online breeze in recomposable text and add up the numbers in.

What I'm looking for is a way to insert automatically the line breaks in these LONG sections of text in the right places. Does anyone have any ideas on how to do that?

    Thank you!

  • Possible to turn off the legacy of line break in the table of contents?

    Hello

Say I got a long title stupidly, that I need to address (and subtitle is not an option in this case):

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, adipiscing elit computer. Integer nec odio.

Due to wide-ish the font size of the header in the document, I want to break this header in two lines.

However my OCD uses a smaller font size, and so he could sit happily on a single line.

The problem is that the inDesign TOC seems to be ineriting the soft breakdown and therefore the line break appears in the table of contents too.

Is it possible to disable / prevent this?

    Thank you!

Try to use nonbreaking spaces, or without breaks (spaces are less problematic) the part of the topic that you want to wrap instead of the line break is forced.

  • Broken line break

I don't know, but since a few versions, line break engine InDesign is completely broken and regularly produces situations like this:

    Error.jpg

    Balance the jagged lines and

Keep the options are turned off.

There is enough space there. All lines are set to stick with base lines. I need to drag the Green down text block until the next paragraph can jump in to get a single word.

    Any ideas?

Of course, does not resemble an option to keep. Check the paragraph to keep afterwards and the next to continue with the previous.

  • How to keep line breaks in CSV, TXT doc then merge the data in CC?

    Hey,.

There is a thread for this question, answered in 2009, then in 2014 (that wasn't there is still no ideal integrated solution):

    https://forums.Adobe.com/thread/415563?start=0 & tstart = 0

But I was wondering if Indesign CC2015 made no progress in this regard...?

    Thank you

    Vanessa

In simple, no words. With the exception of the variable QR codes, merge data has remained the same since that post.

    The current solution of:

    • put a delimiter in the source file, such as
or | to represent the newline; then
    • Merge into a new indesign file and use find/replace to replace the separator for a line break

Is always the simplest solution with the data merge.

Data merge isn't the only way to import variable data. XML is another way, but the learning curve is steep. The rewards are worthwhile, but prepare to invest some many hours in learning!

Otherwise, perhaps consider a third party plug-in which may be more appropriate than merge data.

Rest assured, you are not alone. All I can suggest is to go to the feature request/Bug Report Form and the application as a feature request.

  • $ GREP is now finding forced line break. How to disable.

Somehow, my location indicator GREP $, which has always found just the end of a paragraph (Enter), is now suddenly find the end of a line ending with a forced line break (SHIFT + ENTER).

So, if in GREP I seek

    Tiger$

... it is now to find all occurrences of the word Tiger that appear at the end of a paragraph and also who appear just before a forced line break.

How to turn off this behavior?

Could this be something to do with the 8.1 update?

    Thank you

  • GREP: How to replace a paragraph with a manual line break break?

    Hello.

I want to replace a few paragraph breaks (Enter) with manual line breaks (SHIFT + ENTER).

    How do I do that?

    Any help would be appreciated.

GREP codes for all functions and special characters can be found in the help: help InDesign | Find/replace

In this case, you do not want to change

    \r

    TO

    \n

Be aware that this will stick together, paragraphs with all the consequences for its paragraph styles. I rarely do this (and then only unformatted text!) that I don't know yet if it will apply the above the following paragraph paragraph style, or vice versa.

  • Adding breaks of the hyper link with line break

I am trying to add a hyperlink to my document. The text I'm tying is long and crosses a line break. I select the text and then add the hyperlink, which seems to work very well, but then when I export to PDF and then click on the link, the link is broken at the break.

Does anyone knows how to fix this?

Yes. It is not InDesign, that determines what the hyperlink is right there, but rather the 'smart' function Acrobat who sees an address "www" and reads the text to the right on the PDF file. Pass this function disabled in Acrobat , and it should work.

You can confirm that you have actually exported your document with active hyperlinks (it's a toggle in the export to PDF dialog box).

  • Help with automated line breaks

I import a file large tagged text created using XML and .xsl style sheets in CS4. The file is data directory of company that are transmitted as a paragraph in columns. We usually use Ventura to create this document and Ventura could process phone, fax, e-mail, and URL in one word and it breaks not between the lines. InDesign is to break these fields on new lines automatically as it strikes characters '-', ' @ 'and'. '.

Is it possible in InDesign or my stylesheet .xsl to allow only line breaks on spaces and not others?

    For example, I get:

    ABC Company

    1234 main St, downtown, É.-u.

    01234, 555-555-5555, fax: 111.

    111-1111, info@abccompany.

    com, www.abccompany.com

    I want to:

    ABC Company

    1234 main St, downtown, USA

    01234, 555-555-5555, fax:

    111- 111-1111,

    info@abccompany. com,

    www.ABCCOMPANY.com

I don't want to automatically add a line break before each element as the length would differ for each list and take too much space with forced line break.

Thank you very much for your help!

Ah. Try this GREP style, once again with No Break:

    [^ ]+

This allows to keep whatever it is separated by spaces only together.

  • The line breaks in the alert window?

Is this possible? InDesign seems to make the default line breaks, if long text is OK, but I can make the manual line breaks too?

For example, if I want to do after the alert text:

    Alert ("Ovid, escia dermopurifiantes rati delique cuptionest volupturio quis TR volorunt're comnisit apelicae doluptatis volorem volor sunt. Corit Endionse laborup tatiusam, omnihit incipis, to prorrum sum nit od eatur ad which blandel ipitis and accum sell pa di aut quamus aut velestr untiis comnima ximent atur quam. ») ;

    flowing like tihis:

    Ovid's, escia dermopurifiantes rati delique

    cuptionest than volupturio quis TR

    volorunt that are comnisit apelicae

    doluptatis volor sunt volorem am.

    (double line break)

    Endionse laborup tatiusam, omnihit

incipis corit, nit sum to prorrum od

eatur ad which blandel ipitis and accum

sell pa di aut quamus aut quam

    velestr untiis comnima ximent atur

Yes you can. You just put in "\r" or "\n" to each line break.

The problem is that the second line is much less fat.

  • In v31.0, I can view is more 'raw' XML files with line breaks and ' &lt; ' and ' / &gt; ' characters. Is there a setting that will give me this option?

Until a few days ago when I opened a file XML with Firefox, I see the content of the file appears with line breaks and ' < ' and ' / > ' and elements. Like this:

    fixed image in < typeOfResource > < / typeOfResource >

     <genre authority="marcgt">picture</genre>
     <genre authority="nmc">Print, Photographic</genre>

       <dateIssued encoding="marc">1884</dateIssued>
       <issuance>monographic</issuance>
     </originInfo>
     <language>

Now, it will display like this:

still image picture Print, Photographic 1884 1884 monographic eng electronic

No tags or line breaks. I need to see the entire XML file. How can I configure FireFox to display this for me? One of my colleagues uses v31.0 and XML views with tags and the line breaks for him.

For example, I was looking at files sitemap.xml (search Google for inurl:sitemap.xml). For those who have not declared a style sheet, you should always see the classic "source highlight: presentation

    Example: http://www.website.com/sitemap.xml

Are the files that don't appear as similar planned by not declaring a style sheet?

  • Easy way to remove excess line breaks in txt, html, and epub files?

Transfer to my e-reader to read web pages. I have to convert everything in epub, because the PDF files and djvus are designed for larger screens, and txt and html are not displayed correctly.

In any case, some pages have a lot of extra newlines that are arranged for larger screens.

I have to remove the line breaks to make it readable. I know that DevonTech wordservice works in txt, which I can convert it to Epub. Is there something that works in Epub itself? Is there something else that works in txt?

    Thank you.

INTHE html, these line breaks appear to be either < br / > or < br / > where the paragraph breaks are < p >. So, it seems easier to edit files ePub in the editor, as the iWrite series Epub or the caliber, that the modification of the txts.
