Linksys WAG160Nv2 for network home

To connect a switch Dell 5224 WAG160N do I need a crossover cable or a simple? I have to use the port 1 of WAG160N or any port?

Use a comprehensive straight type cable and run it from the ethernet ports of the gateway to the switch.

  • Suggestion for connecting NetGear switch for network home

    Hi all

Recently, I bought NetGear ProSafe 8 - Port Gigabit Ethernet Switch GS108E. I would like to ask your help/suggestions to connect to my home network. The other components I have is Motorala SurfBoard SB6121 Cabel Modem and Cisco Valet M10 Wireless router.

I have a Comcast Blast Plus service and if I check my internet speed by connecting my laptop directly to the cable modem, I get 50 Mbit/s Download and Upload of 11 Mbps. If I connect my laptop to the ethernet port of the router the speed I get is 25 Mbps download and still 11 Mbit/s upload. 50% reduction the internet download speed. So I decide to buy a NetGear Switch so that I can run all my connection cable of the switch and wait for the speed of download of 50 Mbps and 11 Mbps Upload.

I made the connection like cable Modem--> Switch NetGear--> wireless router. In this configuration no my devices are able to connect to internet and I get message unidentified network. I tried to troubleshoot using the Windows Connection Manager, but he just asks me to turn off and on again. I tried this several times, but was not able to solve the problem.

I want to return to the NetGear Switch mannual and made connections like shows in the quick installation guide. Cable modem-->--> Switch NetGear wireless router. In this configuration, all my devices are able to connect to internet but I get the speed of 25 Mbps download and 11 Mbps upload, identical to what I was getting into when running connection wireless router wired thorugh.

So, essentially, NetGear switch does nothing for me except give me a few more ports to run the wired connections.

It would be a great help if someone can guide me in the resolveing of my problem.

    Kind regards
    Shekhar

He had bought a new router in the first place. Your router is the problem. Check on their website for a solution.

  • Compaq Presario 5400US - need network drivers for XP Home Edition. Wired connection.

It woun't connect to internet using a good modem and cable (other PC connect successfully using this same equipment). When I type IPCONFIG, I get 2 results, one for Local Area Connection2 for LAC3. Two of them have 169.254.xxx.xxx IP addresses. Both Suffixes DNS blank and empty default gateways.

When I go into network connections, the LAC2 says "Limited or no connectivity", but it lists a Linksys LNE 100TX Fast Ethernet Adapter. Linksys? I don't have any Linksys product. LAC3 says 'Connected' with the help of a WAN network driver. However, in the Notification area network connections has the same yellow triangle as LAC2. When I right click the icon in the Notification area and select "Repair" I always get the following ".." following action cannot be completed: renewing your IP address.

If I right click LAC3 (the one that says 'Connected'), click Properties, click TCP. IP and select Properties, it is set to get an IP address and an address of DNS server automatically. It is also the same for LAC2.

Client DHCP, DNS Client and call the CPP are started.

I tried ipconfig/release, ipconfig/registerdns, ipconfig/flushdns, netsh winsock reset. When I run it ipconfig / renew I get messages (after he is sitting there for 2 minutes)
An error occurred during renewal of the Local 2 network connection interface: unable to contact your DHCP server. Request timed out...
An error occurred during renewal of the Local 2 network connection interface: unable to contact your DHCP server. Request timed out...

A run chkdsk /r have run the command netsh int ip reset reset.log.

So, I went 2 network cards, restarted in the device and removed Manager and let Windows reinstall. Windows creates a new connection to the Local network (LAC4, 2 and 3 are gone). It only reads limited connectivity or none and is using Linksys LNE 100TX Fast Ethernet Adapter, like the previous LAC2. The previous LAC3, who uses the network never got WAN driver reinstalled. I don't understand.

Since an adapter Linksys on a wired connection seemed odd I have tried to find what should be the correct network driver.

I google "Compaq Presario 5400US" "driver ethernet" OR "network driver" and was taken to a page of drivers HP, which I think makes sense since HP now owns Compaq
    http://h10025.www1.HP.com/ewfrf/wc/s...UCT=93284#n430
This page has nothing listed for network or chipset cards.  This, of course, has no meaning for me.

    Can anyone help?

Select this version from the drop-down list on the link that I posted above.

Depending on the size of file, it does not resemble an auto install file. Accept the agreement and unzip the file into a folder.

So, download it to a folder and go to Device Manager.

Click the network card in need of drivers, and then select manual search for drivers. Navigate to the folder where you extracted the drivers and the driver should install.

  • Inned to discover or to change the key of network security for my home network.

I forgot my security key for my home network.  It seems that each new wireless device needs this password to work!

Simple solution: reset your router to its default settings.  The method is described in the manual of the router.  The default password after reset is documented in this same manual. Brian Tillman [MVP-Outlook]

    Setting up a shared printer

"The most common way to make a printer available to a home network is traditionally to connect to one of the computers and then tell Windows to share it. This is called a shared printer.

The advantage of sharing a printer is that it works with any USB printer. Side tilted? The host computer must always be fed up, otherwise the rest of the network will not be able to access the shared printer. »

  • Don't go DVD player on desktop Pc windows 7 network home for computer laptop windows 8

Desktop PC to Windows 7 with DVD player, I want to share on my network home wifi with my new windows laptop 8 who doesn't have a DVD player. I went to control panel to set the sharing but sharing was gray.

    Hi Susan,.

The sharing option is grayed out, it is because it is not possible to share a DVD player on your system through a wireless network.

You can buy an external DVD drive that connects via a USB port to use on the laptop Windows 8.

  • vista ultimate for xp home network

I have Office operational dual boot with vista ultimate/xp home and a laptop and a desktop running xp home.  I'm trying to network all computers with an ethernet switch.  I just bought a new switch, which, according to the manufacturer, is compatible with vista.  Have installed link layer topology on the laptop, all computers are in the Working Group "mshome".  XP on dual boot system, all computers communicate and share my internet connection through my aircard wireless of sierra on dual-boot computer.  When I am running vista, I see the laptop with LLT but when I try to open it I get "error code: 0 x 80070035 the network path was not found."  I think that if I can just get them all to communicate, they should be able to share the internet connection through the aircard card.  Any suggestions?

  • Error with eStation Zeen - no scan for networks

I have problems with the Zeen on our station.  We stopped using for a few weeks while moving around our headquarters, and now the Zeen gives the error message "Unable to scan for networks" as soon as I try to turn on the wireless Zeen.

We also have a new router, so I don't know if they are related.

I tried a full reset to factory specifications, but as soon as it comes to the installation of the network I get the message "unable to scan for networks."

My PC is a laptop HP with Windows 7 Home Premium x 64

    Printer is a C510a

I am trying to connect wireless.  The printer works when it is connected via a usb cable.

    Firmware version is ZEP1CN1130AR (2.2) (113110)

The blue light on the printer wireless flashes.  However, as soon as I get to the installation of zineb and try to turn on the wireless zineb, I get the same error message.

I found another thread with this exact error message, with no responses.  I found a bit on connectivity issues of zineb/printer, which I had at some point, but this isn't really the issue here.

No chance, it's hardware related?  More troubleshooting ideas?

    Thank you!

  • Recommended settings for network locations

Having a problem with setting up of parameters with my computer running on the same network, please help! Margaret Egan

It's a very difficult question without a LOT more information.  I will try to provide you with some useful items and then some general comments on the process. Then, if necessary, you may answer specific questions and information needed to review and make suggestions on them (reinforced by a better overall knowledge networking and get a better idea of what I need to know to be able to address these issues).

Here are the procedures for Vista with Windows7 networking (if this is part of the situation) who can help:http://www.windowsnetworking.com/articles_tutorials/Windows-7-Understanding-Network-Administration-Configuration.html.

Here is another article on home networks (with several links to related articles which must all be considered - as well as others, you will find in the related articles) to help you better understand the home networks: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Setting-up-a-home-network.  If it's for Vista, much of it applies to Windows7 (although there may be some differences that should be addressed in the previous article).

Here is an article on the networking of the various versions of Windows (I'm not sure about your situation):http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/Networking-home-computers-running-different-versions-of-Windows.

I hope this helps. If necessary, start from scratch using these procedures and see if that helps.  The "recommended" settings depend very much on the configuration of your network, the types of devices, operating systems concerned (you can have different versions of Windows and even Linux or Mac included), how internet access is integrated, how everything is connected and a number of other factors.  This varies a lot - I have seen many, many different configurations (of which some were good and some who needed a few adjustments to improve or fix them).  To know the best for you (or offer a specific recommendation), I would need to know a LOT more about all of the things mentioned above and the points mentioned in the articles and what you want to achieve and allowed in terms of sharing and access between the computers and the network is how big and what type of network is (workgroup or domain) and how the internet is obtained and integrated (shared PC modem with a router and what type) router,...) and how much the desired security (on the computers and the network - especially if it is wireless) and a lot of other things (possibly including manuals or detailed information about the devices and computers that you use).  I recommend read you or at least see these articles (and those below if they apply) and see if they answer your questions. If not and if you have specific questions, provide me with the information required to be able to try to answer these questions (something you know a lot better after reviewing the articles and maybe try some configuration options to see how they work).  What you ask is something that is extremely difficult to do by the messages of the forum - I really need to see the configuration and talk a little bit about your needs and desires.  I'll do what I can, but perhaps we should consider hiring a network specialist (a true specialist, NOT a person from the Geek Squad or any place like that) to visit your site and do it in person.  And then, after reading these articles and try things yourself and asking specific questions based on what you feel with these efforts, we are well able to accomplish it without hiring anyone. We will consider a step at a time.  Start by reviewing the articles and then a little experiement with your configuration (maybe to start from scratch now that you know so much more, and see what you can accomplish).

    Good luck!

    P. S.

If you use a wireless network, the settings can be a little different.  While some of which is referred to above, here are a few articles specifically on wireless networks that can help if this is how you setup (or wireless is involved or you want him involved):

Here is a tutorial on how to set up a home network (including a wireless)-click on additional links for more information that may be helpful:http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Setting-up-a-home-network.  This article could actually be above as well as here as it covers both - so, even if you do not use wireless, you can consult this article in any case.

Here is an article on troubleshooting network connections wireless (with links):http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Troubleshoot-network-connection-problems.

Here's a long guide on wireless internet connections in Vista:http://www.techwarelabs.com/guides/misc_mod/vistaconnection/.

  • Security software for network Pinter

Just installed a printer HP 7525e for my home network.  McAfee said this morning that my printer is not protected and wanted to know if I wanted an additional license.  Is it necessary, and if so, how can I do?

Okay, if you are able to print and scan, I wouldn't worry McAfee support. Sometimes it will give you a warning for 3rd party software that has been installed on your PC.

I wouldn't worry until you are having problems with printing and the analysis function.

  • Why is it not available for Vista Home Premium Management Console?

Microsoft took a lot of control of the administrator.   My system has just done a right to shutdown "Unexpected" in the middle of a large file I have tried to download.   Now I have to start all over again.    I think that things like 'computer management' could at least install.

Microsoft offers anything like this as a snap for the home premium version?

Here is an article on some managers free download for Internet Explorer (although you check again each as I just scanned the article and you must also ensure that they are compatible with Vista - I don't check them practically found at least one that says it was.)  Research your final choice very carefully to ensure its compatibility with your version of Vista, the configuration of your system and your version of Internet Explorer.  Maybe one of them can prevent restart of downloads from scratch if you lose your connection or for any other reason.  Some say even be able to pause the download.  As these are all 3rd party applications, you install and use them at your own risk - Microsoft assumes no responsibility for what he would do to your system or your programs (including Internet Explorer and Vista itself).  The decision and the risk is entirely yours. http://www.techsupportalert.com/best-free-download-manager.htm#gigaget.

    I hope this helps.
