• CD/dvd drive is not listed in Device Manager

  my laptop is a hp pavillion entertainment pc dv6605us, running windows vista. the cd/dvd drive is not read / write any CD and it is not listed in Device Manager. I tried to fix this problem by using the microsoft fixit tool, but I'm still having the same problem. I checked the system registry and found no upperfilters and lowerfilters.
  Please, how can I solve this problem?

  Step 1: Please do all the same underneath if you did some before as it is often the total process
  which solves the problem.

  Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double-click on the device - driver tab - click
  Update the drivers (this will probably do nothing) - then RIGHT click the drive - UNINSTALL - REBOOT
  This will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue below.
  
  Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a loose cable or
  slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

  Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both
  ends. Remove and replace, do not just tight. For laptops, you can often clean power and
  contacts data with a pencil eraser.

  Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and
  manufacturer of device to see if there is a firmware or drivers for your drive if necessary.

  I just rebuilt my XP SP3 desktop from scratch, so it's a pretty lean, clean machine right now (have all relocated apps yet). Updates are ongoing as of early this am.

  I installed FF v9.0.1 and free Zonealarm 10.1.079.000, who I thought were supposed to be compatible. However, when I try to add FF to the list of Application control settings, weirdness follows. I can add it, I can configure it... and then when I get back a few moments later, Firefox is no longer in the list of applications. Repeatedly, he disappears. I try to be pretty serious about security, and gives me a Benin urticaria cases.

  This is not expected behavior based on experience several years of using these two programs. But I must admit, these two versions are new to me, if anyone has any clues what / why / that's why?

• Tecra 9100: sound card is not listed in Device Manager

  I have a toshiba laptop 9100 that does not show me the sound card in Device Manager.

  I recently changed the laptop bobdy and uses a disk hard work that work very well with my old laptop which also has the same model and the sound used to work properly with this one. but since I changed my laptop, the sound just does not.

  I also tried to install all the latest drivers that I am running windows xp sp2, and there are drivers available who have a difficulty for this os. But when I try and install the drivers it always ends with a message warning "drivers are not installed.

  I tried to see if there is another way in which I can configure my sound, but it simply doesn't.

  Help, please!

  If the sound card is not listed in Device Manager, the explanation is very simple. The card its doesn't exist for the operating system. Either card defective or not connected properly.

  Contact the Service partner and let check the device. Sorry, but in this case I put t see another solution.

• Computer laptop loss during berthing and departure color management settings

  I am running Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 64 bit on a Dell Latitude E6540 with a docking station.  I have calibrated color screen on the laptop as well as an external monitor attached to the docking station.  Whenever I'm disconnecting the computer, the system resets the color management settings and I lose the color calibration on the screen of the laptop.  I have then go manually through Control Panel and re - apply the calibration profile to make things normal.

  I have everything set up so that the calibrated profile is the default profile for the system and I checked this is the case if the machine is docked, but he always loses calibration settings each time.  All drivers of video system are also updated and current.

  Any thoughts or ideas on how to solve this problem?

• Power host in vCenter management settings

  I'm looking for a way through PowerCLI say if the 'Properties' link for power management settings is grey.  Recommendations from VMware and HP, we do power management settings in the BIOS influence in case the link of 'Properties' to be greyed out.  I need a way to quickly check compliance on all our guests that it is grayed out.

  Because somehow, vCenter knows if show it grayed out or not, there must be a way to get this information from PowerCLI, I guess, just have not been able to find.

  I have attached the images to a properly configured host (link grayed out) and a host that is not configured correctly (link not in gray).

  Thanks LucD!  I actually thought a way to do this that uses the data extension that you provided, but the AvailablePolicy option within ability shows only 1 option if the link properties is disabled and 4 if it isn't then I just took a count of this property to indicate if it is disabled.

• How can I set up mail for my domain... it is not listed in the Site settings?

  Once deleted, you cannot recover the data. The list is stored in a file called downloads.sqlite in the profile folder.
