Hi all

I would like to know if there is the API for capture/listening in BB10 events, as if a call is made / received.

my application should listen and respond.

Thanks in advance.

Hello

Interacting with call or sms events is not currently supported on BB10;

  • Development of a PhoneGap Plugin for BB10 (QNX)

    Hi all

I'm playing a bit with phonegap 2.5 just to understand how it works with BB10... In addition to the basic steps, I still don't understand what I need to do in case I need to create a plugin custom..., according to the documentation, it seems that the reference language is Java, but as far as I know, the native extensions for BB10 must be developed in C++ and I strongly suspect that Java is for the old version of BB (torch etc.)

Even if I dig into the sample project located within the archive zip Phonegap, I can't understand how extensions can be made.

Can someone help me on this?

    Thank you very much

    -marco

    Hi Marco,.

Yes, you are right! Once we have aligned with cordova, you will still generate native code in the same way, but we allow you to package it as a plugin of cordova rather WebWorks extension.

  • custom for bb10 extensions

can be customized for bb10 extensions just with java?

    It's true.

Extensions are now written in C/C++.  Here's the documentation https://developer.blackberry.com/html5/documentation/creating_extensions_for_bb10_apps.html

  • C++ or waterfalls or HTML5 for BB10

    Hello world

I'm new to BB development and although I've done a few VB and some HTML work, I'm a little stuck on the direction to follow.  The application I want to develop is a management with a decent amount of logic application business going on in the background.   Given that I'm not developing a game that requires quick speed super treatment or a lot of custom screens, I thought using the system of Cascades.  Am I wrong? Or should I be developing in C++ (which I'm not currently).

I also saw somewhere that there is a plugin for BB10 VB?  It is a path suitable for follow - develop in VB that I already know?

    C++

    Cascades

    VB

Any thoughts on the pro and cons of each approach would be appreciated.

    Thank you

    Paul

paul2020, it seems that the approach of WebWorks can work best for you, at least to start with.  It allows you to manage the BB Phone with much the same code base.

If you structure the code itself, with a logic that is strictly separated from the interface user, then you can migrate to waterfalls with QML to the user interface and possibly with some of this intact preserved Javascript code.

For the size of the app, I'm not sure you need to do a lot on the C++ front initially, so you could defer this until a later date learning curve. Given how otherwise there is so much to learn here, maybe it's better.

  • Adobe AIR for BB10

Sorry for a fundamental question about AIR for BB10. I have several AIR apps on PlayBook and now reuse for BB10 phone.  Under AIR Developer documentation refers only to PlayBook.  Is the AIR process/tools for a phone BB10 even it was for PlayBook?  Is it simply a matter of target an existing AIR application to a different screen and then size by selecting a phone BB10 device in the App Store to get the published application?  What version of AIR is supported?

It's a different SDK for BB10.  On the micro-AIR site, there are links for BB10 and PlayBook SDK:

    https://developer.BlackBerry.com/air/download/

    And per page Configuration required:

    https://developer.BlackBerry.com/air/download/requirements_bb10

you want AIR 3.1 ('or more', but I recommend stick you with 3.1 until whenever)

    RIM upgraded AIR support)

  • List ways to make applications for BB10

    Hello friends.,.

things I must learn BB10 development?

first of all you need to know c ++ or HTML javascript, in order to make applications.

  • Porting native Apps for BB10 playbook

I have 2 games running for PlayBook (so 2.0), already published on appworld.now decided to their device BB10 port also. Like my apps are developed naively and using OpenGL 2.0 how many will of work required.

is there is no Playbook to BB10 port applications guide.

I need to download the binaries for playbook and BB10. So what is the name of the package, the two could be same? Or my application will have separate names for the two (Playbook and BB10).

I have an application Native + OpenGL for PlayBook and BB10. You will have no problem porting to BB10, you only take care of the different screen size.

And Peter is right. You must present the version for BB10 wearing the same package id and version should be different for BB10. To keep my versions "in tact" I simply add 100 for the last byte for BB10 package. For example - version 1.0.1.1 for PlayBook and version 1.0.1.101 for BB10.

  • Menu of the app (Swipe in the Menu drop-down) in Webworks for BB10.

    Hello

I tried to build an app menu (the menu that appears at the top when you drag down on the screen BB10) for my applications Webworks.

However, I wasn't able to find anything that satisfied my need here https://github.com/blackberry/bbUI.js/wiki

In samples for BB10, I found this message under Swipe Menu here https://github.com/blackberry/BB10-WebWorks-Samples/tree/master/swipemenu

'This example is not really applicable for BB10. The menu blow follows different guidelines that this and most of the applications must use the context menu instead. »

However, the interface instructions user of BB said that for generic application-level functionality, you must place in the menu of the Application. (Here https://developer.blackberry.com/devzone/files/design/bb10/UI_Guidelines_BlackBerry_10.pdfof Page 47)

So now I'm a bit confused. Is there a Webworks method to create a Menu of Application for BB10? (I found documentation of older versions). Is there something I'm missing?

    Thanks in advance.

    Prashanth

Gotcha - I see where the confusion is so

menu screen in bbUI.js = menu of the application.

It's a swipedown menu where you can place the lesser measures. It has a slightly different feature on Playbook and a completely different feature BBOS but from your point of view, it will do what you owe for BB10

It is set on a base by screen at this moment (discussed changes that, but nothing has yet been decided) but follows the BB10 UI/UX guidelines for the application menu. He now has the ability to the elements of the upper left and right so that you can get your help and settings menus to the appropriate locations.

Let me know if you need other help for this.

  • From an application at startup of the device for BB10

    Hello

    I was creating a demand for BB10.

The application should start at the start of the device and (preferably) stay in the background.

I found this http://developer.blackberry.com/html5/documentation/rim_background_element_1265316_11.html , but it doesn't seem to be something similar to this for BB10. Is there such a feature which is flush on BB10? or does perform a work around that.

    Thanks in advance,

    Prashanth

This is true even if they said in Amsterdam that they are seeking to add this service in the future

Unfortunately at the moment you're out of luck

  • What is the best platform to develop applications for BlackBerry 10?

    Hi all

I have developed applications for BlackBerry 6 and 7 for the last 3 years, but I am very new to BlackBerry 10. I know that most of the developer would like BB 10 is something new. I have about five years of experience in the JAVA platform, but unfortunately BB 10 is not supported it unless you develop applications for Android and the port at 10 BB.

When I checked the list of programs that are supported by BB 10, I saw C/Cpp, Cascades, HTML5 and action script among them. But which one to choose? There is where I am confused. I don't have any experience in the above mentioned technologies. If I select, I need to learn from the beginning. When I went through a few posts, I got to know many people prefer to develop in HTML5, as it is a cross-platform technology. But many have said that it may have problems of performance and the native technologies like C/Cpp, waterfalls will be the best options in terms of performance.

Can anyone suggest me the best technology to start with BB10?

Cascades is based on Qt, which is a cross-platform C++ library. It encapsulates many low level BB Native API - s for easier use, but you still have direct access to these APIs if necessary. C++ syntax is similar to Java, so it shouldn't be too difficult to pass. I suggest choosing stunts.

To avoid this error, you must add 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft Platform SDK\Include\mfc\' to your INCLUDE path. Libraries can be found in "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Platform SDK\lib\"

  • Example of payment for BB10 Cascades

    Hello

I'm looking for an example of implementation of payment for BB10 Cascades service.

I don't know about the docs, but a working example would be more appropriate.

    One such example is there?

I'm not a user of stunts, but I found this:

Seems good.  Let us know how it works.

  • License model for BB10 apps in AppWorld

On the BB dev site, I found the following:

Applications running on the BlackBerry 10 operating system is the use of a static licensing model, regardless of the choice made in the licensing model in the supplier portal.

This means that we don't need to bother about the licensing model for BB10 apps and let the App World which must manage the licesning Blackberry world mechanism?

Fix. In BB 10 it is not possible for a user to save the app package and copy it to another device. Therefore, there is no chance of your app executable escaped a user and then on any other side loading on their device. It is protected in this way and the dynamics of license is not really necessary...

But if you want extra protection, you can always do it within your application, but you have to manage your own licensing model in this case.
