Live Windows registry missing

I changed my registry, files when I tried to hide the menu bar in the window and he seem to disable windows live and the system of options that let you choose stop and log off (I use vista)

can I restore it?

Why put up with it for 6 months?

Run the sfc/scannow command.

http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929833

Use the (SFC.exe) System File Checker tool to determine which file is causing the problem and then replace the file. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Open an elevated command prompt. To do this, click Start, click principally madeprograms,Accessories, right-clickguest, and then clickrun as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or clickallow.
  2. Type the following command and press ENTER:
    sfc/scannow

    The sfc/scannow command analyzes all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with appropriate Microsoft versions

If SFC detects the main problems it can't fix you may need to borrow a Microsoft dvd vista not an acer, HP etc. recovery disk and do a repair installation

read the below tutorial on how to perform a repair installation

  • Windows registry is linked to the .dll files? HELP several BSoD and browse... crashed during post! for the love of God

    Must be quick, title says it all
    Windows registry is responsible for the .dll files?
    SFC shows SEVERAL DLLs not missing, no installation CD.
    Not good recovery CD.
    I have the copy of the registry before changes but online before browser support multiple and many BSOD.
    Will post now as browser crashed early in post and the 5 th time in half an hour.

    Thanks for the reply Elizabeth23, but I finally found the part of the SFC.

    SFC showed 167 system missing files - if you continue to press Cancel > continue every time SFC tells you to put in your Windows installation CD eveeentually happen to you at the end of his race - and I ran 3 times and each time got 167.
    Now I had some of the 'missing' located in System32 .dll files, but some were also in i386 and the drivercache but I had not located a bit; but I knew that something is not right I had found some system 'missing' files and after that a few hunting came across a site that said to check the registry key
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\
    CurrentVersion\Setup

    and under SourcePath my entry is a file that does not exist 'Temp' so I changed the entry to C:\WINDOWS rebooted and ran SFC/scannow and it scanned without stopping.
    Weird as the registry key was in a file that is no Temp because I ran many SFC
    times in the last 2 months and it always scanned all the files in the operating system without a hitch...

    My computer is still BSoDing out, had two after SFC took place without a hitch.

    Hi all

    I found answers to my question on "Windows 7 Help Forums" http://www.sevenforums.com/> and a program to recreate and fix all the original Windows 7 hubs and symlink [attributes and security properties (full)], called 'Junction box' [site Web of Documentation: http://iwrconsultancy.co.uk/junctionbox>; and the download Web site: http://sourceforge.net/projects/junctionbox/?source=dlp>].

    I also found that there are more original than those listed above junctions.  My advice is to remove all the junctions, you could have recreated manually (or move them to your backup drive) before running "JunctionBox.exe" (using its configuration file "DefaultJunctions.ntj").  Then run it two or three times; because it is not recreate all the original joints the first time you run it.  It recreates the together the legacy of windows (see below), by default (C:\Users\Default), all users (C:\Users\All) and the current user (C:\Users\%UserName%), junctions on the first throw, but not the junctions of temp (C:\Users\Temp) and their targets. - you must re-create the junction target temp manually, yourself, if you want them to run.

    Here is MY updated 'Junction Box' 'DefaultJunctions_2.ntj' list of configuration files (list of all the original Windows 7 junctions):

    ; ===(Start of List) =.

    ; A list of the standard set of junctions in Vista and Windows 7, for the purpose of repair.
    ;
    ; The notation is as follows:
    ;  Section headers are userprofile-records unless otherwise noted by a full path.
    ;  Paths starting with a-specify a full path to the system root. (Usually C:\)
    ;  Starting paths by are relative to the container profile. (Usually C:\users)
    ;  Location paths and junction target are compared to [value] section header without qualifier.
    ; Default profile settings apply to all generic users when profiles are repaired.
    ; You can add sections for specific users, if it is not normally necessary.
    ; Wildcard characters or macros other that those listed above are not allowed.
    ; Junctions will be created using the target-full paths, regardless of the values relative or complete here.
    ; Note: Non-English speaking users will need to create their own file, sorry.

    [General]

    ; Displays warning if incompatible OS or system-language is found.
    OSVersions = WIN_VISTA, WIN_7, WIN_2008, WIN_2008R2, WIN_LONGHORN
    OSLanguages = 0409, 0809

    ; Force the creation of junctions in system or user files, or both.
    ; = 1 recreates (parts of)-structure of profile folders missing. Relatively safe to use.
    ; = 2 strength deletes any file, folder or the junction occupying the location target.
    ; -valuable when it comes to corrupt junctions, but use them carefully because may delete data.
    ; Default value is to leave alone the existing junctions and add only those missing, but set correct permissions on all.
    SystemForceCreation = 0
    UserForceCreation = 0

    ; The following sections refer to disk files and necessary for each, junctions as JunctionName = JunctionTarget.

    If SFC could not fix something, then run the new command to see if it can be able to next time. Sometimes, it can take by running the sfc/scannow command 3 times restart the PC after each time completely fix everything what he is capable of.

    If this isn't the case, then run Dism/online/Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth to repair any corruption component store, restart the PC later and try the sfc/scannow command.

    If still no, then try using ONE OPTION above to run the command sfc/scannow at the start

    If still no, then you could do a Refresh of Windows 8, or run a System Restore using a restore point dated before the wrong file occurred to fix. You may need to repeat doing a restore of the system until you find a restore point that is older that may work.

    If not yet, then you can use the steps in the TIP box in the section THREE OPTION to manually replace the files SFC could not fix.

    You cannot use the Windows registry to disable the elements in Firefox. This link shows how to lock the proxy settings of Firefox, change the values as needed:

  • . Misfortunes of ICO in the Windows registry for my LabVIEW Application

    Wow, adding that last bit of spit-and-shine in a LabVIEW program can turn into any process.

    I defined a type of file with a .tpml (XML file of the temperature profile).  When my user double clicks on a file of this type, it launches my LabVIEW application.  All this is worked and works well.  I even setup for my program add entries to Windows registry key so that the .tpml file type is associated with my program executable.  This is related to my previous post here.

    The problem I have is that I did a fantasy for my LabVIEW program icon and these well DOCUMENTED files.  The problem is that the key of Windows registry entry that associates this file in my program, causing the ATTESTED to the 16 icon file icon x 16 my program executable.  If I remove the association in the register, it goes back to the .ico file I made.

    I don't know if I can add my ATTESTED to my .exe file icon so that an association between the two causes the correct icon to be displayed in Windows, or if there is some other entry registry key that I need to do to replace Windows and requires to use my DOCUMENTED file. ICO for the icon.  Anyone know?

    These are the registry keys that makes my Installer:

    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\

    .tpml = "tpmlfile".

    . tpml\DefaultIcon = [INSTALLDIR] data\TPMLFile.ico

    tpmlfile = temperature profile XML file

    tpmlfile\shell\open\command = [INSTALLDIR] Profile Editor.exe '%1 '.

    I have all of the isthmus and the brightness I want in this program with the exception of this problem with the icons (less a few problems the keyboard TAB).  As I said, if I remove the entry "tpml\shell\open\command" in the registry, the DefaultIcon works OK.  With this registry in place entry, it uses by default the icon 16 x 16 for "Profile Editor.exe".

    Any ideas?

    Thank you very much for your time and input!

    -Nic

    The solution was that I needed the DefaultIcon key as a child of tpmlfile entry NOT .tpml.  Here is my final registry keys that work like a champ!

    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\

    .tpml = "tpmlfile".

    tpmlfile = temperature profile XML file

    tpmlfile\DefaultIcon = [INSTALLDIR] data\TPMLFile.ico

    tpmlfile\shell\open\command = [INSTALLDIR] Profile Editor.exe '%1 '.

  • LVRT 8.5 in the Windows registry: where is it?

    Hello

    I am not satisfied by the System Installer OR. So, I moved to thing as NSIS (http://nsis.sourceforge.net/Main_Page) that is spectacular so far and gives really a total control over all aspects of the installation/uninstallation process.

    So I made my request with LV 8.5.

    The idea is that during installation, the NSIS installer will check if the TERM Labview 8.5 is installed in the system, if so, it will continue the installation, otherwise it will start the installation of the LVRT 8.5 first.

    Then, in the Windows registry, where I can find information on the presence of the LVRT 8.5?

    In other words: when I correctly install the LVRT 8.5 in a computer running Windows XP, the strings and Dwords it will write in my registry? and in the paths of the registry?

    Thank you

    PS: Windows Vista? There a registry?

    Hello Pierre,.

    You are right.

    The registry keys written by the development environment or just the execution time are the same.

    So, just as you said, you will find them under HKLM\Software\National Instruments\LabVIEW Time\8.5 run.

    Kind regards

  • After installing Avast AV my computer cannot load Vista. HE continues to go to the Startup Repair, and it gives me an error of windows registry.

    ORIGINAL TITLE: Vista problems

    Hi I was wondering if I can get a few hekp with this question. After installing Avast AV my computer cannot load Vista. HE continues to go to the Startup Repair, and it gives me an error of windows registry. I idid a debbug and had no errors on the disc. Safe mode does not work. I tried restore to earlier date and nothing, went to the command prompt and type chkdsk /F. c: here's what I got the chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another process. CHKDSK may run if this volume is dismounted first. ALL OPEN GERE to this VOLUME WOULD then BE INVALID. And then he asks me if I want to force a disassembly. Press o and had. Windows check the file system and found no problem. The last line says failure to transfer the messages saved in the log of the events with the 50 State. It's all I have.

    Hello

    What is the exact error message related to the windows registry?

    I suggest you follow the steps mentioned below:

    Method 1:

    Remove all external factors with the exception of the keyboard and mouse.and restart the computer and check if the problem occurs.

    Method 2:
