  The password you should use would be your administrative password for your computer. It is not really the Player update asking for it, it's your system asking if the player is allowed to install the update.

  When you type information in a form in the DC or Pro Player I can enter text with fields of text etc and then save, close and return later to change the form. However once I use the function "Fill & Sign" to sign the document, and then save, it locks the file and all other fields become editable. Is there a way around this to remove this feature where it becomes locked and instead allows me to change the form after a signature is applied and saved. All the security properties of the form are on 'admitted', there is no restriction. Even though the document is locked all the properties remain still as 'authorized '.

  The signing is FINAL.  You cannot sign a PDF paper advance. Complete and save, do not sign.

  Well, the player option extend the file you have chosen is correct, but your form's dynamic XFA - Acrobat/Reader does not have the ability to add annotations on dynamic XFA-based PDF files, therefore, you do not see this option.

  If your usecase is to use annotations in the PDF file, then you can go with static (if possible) forms

  I am working on a form that contains several menu drop-down lists the fields wrapped individually in hidden subforms that become available (visible), once their assigned boxes are enabled. After testing the form, everything works fine. However, the question that I am running is actually come to that after I Extend features in Adobe Reader. The issue has to do with the items in the drop-down list, in which I use a loop for my list of items very much in the same way as the form 'command' that comes with Adobe LiveCycle. The problem is that, before you extend the functionality of Adobe Reader, the drop-down list shows all my items displayed in my planned just like loop, however, once I have extend the functionality of player, all list items appear twice i.e. item1, item2, item3, then item1, item2, item3 again as if she 'Shadows' everything.

  When I noticed the issued in my form, I thought I had done something wrong, but after checking the double I confirmed that issued occurred on the file extended and not on the original file. So, I decided to test it on the 'Order' by 'Extension functions in Adobe Reader' form and and the same thing happened to the elements "ID." You can check it out for yourself!

  If you look here, you will see that some events 'appear' to fire twice when the form is activated: event triggered twice

  I suspect that you have the script in an event like docReady or initialize.

  You can move the script to the preOpen the dropdown event. It just fires the user opens the drop-down list.

  Another possible solution would be to include the following line at the top of your script to stand for the drop-down list:

  this.clearItems();
  

  This would erase the list when the event triggers the second time in the active player form and then fill it up again once.

  You must make all editions of text on a form in Designer in the designer. It is therefore more a regular PDF, but rather an XML contained in the PDF structure. So you can change is no longer the text form in Acrobat.

  I have a table set in place where I add/remove lines to 3 points in the table, as I have 3 columns within the table.  It was created in Adobe LiveCycle Designer 8.2... I want the form on the next page that works very well, it is saved as XML dynamic.

  Now, I need the form to be completed by users using Adobe Reader 9 and to do this I open the form in Adobe Acrobat 9 and then save a copy after selecting "extend features in Adobe Reader... However now when I go and open this file, the lines that were not initially in the form appear under the buttons of the rank final Add/Remove... as if someone has press Add line 10 times.

  Any ideas what is causing the form to change?

• Flattening of PDF forms after the form has been saved with extended drive features

  I have a form that must be able to be used in the drive. I recorded it with 'extend the functionality of Adobe Reader' for my colleagues can use it. However, when I received a completed form, I can't flatten it. I tried two different methods to script and it did not work. I think its because its saved to the drive that I tried to flatten the shape before I saved to the drive and it totally works. When you save for the reader, the PDF Optimizer is inactive, so I can't use this method either. Is there a way to get around this?

  Have you tried simply to print to a new PDF file (using the Adobe PDF printer)?

• Extend the rights of the player causing the Initialize event of draw twice?

  I have a few boxes, populated by scripts on their respective initialization events. Everything worked very well through development - except when I took the form of a group, I noticed that the drop-down lists were filling twice. I didn't was not using a clearItems () - should not need, right?

  So, it was something that I couldn't reproduce in decorator. Once the extended rights had been removed, the form executed as provided in Acrobat and Reader, too. Put the extended rights, and drop-down lists are double to fill in again. Take off extended rights, no misconduct, everythings fine. Extended rights on, bad dog no biscuit!

  Now, obviously I can get past this by using clearItems(), or by moving the preOpen scripts. However, I would like to know what the heck is the cause? Is this a bug? a known issue? or is it something caused by something in the form? I always assumed forms behave the same with or without extended rights. But it looks a lot like the Initialize triggers event twice when opening with extended rights.

  Any ideas out there?

  Hello Stephen,

  I encountered this before and thought that I had an "appropriate" response, but I'm not. I think that when player allowing the rights are applied by Acrobat form performs a check as part of the logon process. There seems to be a bunch of events that triggered twice when the form is active player (in Acrobat - I can't test if the form is activated in LC RE ES2).

  Here is an example showing how, when and in what order, events fire.  The form is at the end of the post (at http://cookbooks.adobe.com/post_How_often_events_fire_and_their_sequence-16547.html). There are 13 items in the form, the events are followed.

  When the form is not activated start looks at this (some events fire once as expected):

  

  When I apply the reader by activating rights via Acrobat, triggering events double for:

  • commissioning;
  • form: ready;
  • layout: ready
  • IndexChange;
  • docReady.

  

  An indicator of potentially, what happens is that, in the RE version, the preSave event fires (but not postSave event).

  Not the complete answer - just an indication.

  The short answer is no.

  We cannot extend this functionality to the Fn keys.

  In order to get this kind of functionality, you would probably need to investigate the 3rd party software.

  We develop internal iOS and Android apps (both native and web) and recently we discovered DPS and we want to migrate some of the print jobs to DPS and integrate some of our current functioality with DPS applications. For example:

  The only way to extend the applications of DPS is using HTML5 and JavaScript, using the items HTML or web overlays. There is no way to wrap the DPS in a container application or call a native application of DPS.

  The iOS Viewer is not an AIR application. The Android player and the Content Viewer for desktop PCs are.
