Hello. My netbook and phone connect to wireless internet, no problem with my wifi network. And until recently my desktop computer connected ok too, using a usb adapter. However, I now have a problem. my pc connects to the wireless network, but only locally. Can anyone help please? There must be a setting that I or someone has changed?

    Hello

You did changes to the computer before the show?

Method 1: I suggest you temporarily disable the antivirus software or firewall and check if it helps:

    Disable the anti-virus software

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/disable-antivirus-software

    Enable or disable Windows Firewall

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/turn-Windows-Firewall-on-or-off

Warning: turn off Windows Firewall/antivirus can make your computer (and your network, if you have one) more vulnerable to damage caused by worms or hackers.

Method 2: reset the default router and check if this solves the problem:

Next to the electric power plug, there is a pinhole reset button. Remove all the cables from your router except the power cord. Press reset button with a PIN for 10 seconds. Wait 10 seconds then unplug the router. Router will be at default values, reinstall using the software that came with the router. You may need to reinstall the software of NIC as well. Then write your password on a piece of tape and stick it to your router.

Method 3: Try the steps in the link and see if it helps:

my mac pro is backup in the capsule of time even when I was at work, which means that the time capsule is consumed my data plan. Can anyone suggest a way I can have it the backup only when my mac pro and time capsule is in the same local wifi

If the Time Capsule and MacBook Pros are not on the same network, the MacBook is not backup in the time Capsule. You probably see what snapshots leaving MacBook on the local disk, until the two are reconnected. If you don't want that to happen, disable Time Machine on a different network.

    Hello

Just today, I noticed that my iPhone 6s was download continuously at the speed of the network via WiFi only when is plugged in the wall charger or the USB loader on the computer. As soon as I stop charging the phone, the download stops. I have no idea what download and I'm a little frustrated because my connection high speed/wireless home is capped.

Sync to iTunes on WiFi and iCloud backups are disabled. I had subscribed to 9.3.2 iOS beta on the registration by registering with my Apple ID last week, but I haven't added the certificate so that it can download OTA or via iTunes. I have no update available on my Apple store as well.

I noticed the slowdown on my cause of internet connection of desktop computers that my phone of summer download something on wifi while he is in charge and I also saw the use of the network by using "System Monitor" app on the App store.

Kindly help me to solve this problem.

    Thank you

I did a factory reset on by phone by "Erase all content and data" and chose to set up as a "new iPhone" after reset done. There are now only apple applications on the phone, I connected to wifi with the charger plugged and the problem persists. I wonder if it was to be an apple iOS update, I am on iOS 9.3.1 and 9.3.2 is still in beta, I'm not sure if there is an apple update going on in the background.

  • Pavilion 17-ab077nz: 5 GHz WiFi only?

New laptops (sold in Switzerland, insofar as this matter) speak 5 GHz WiFi only? I'm looking for a new laptop. Half a year ago I saw an ENVY 17-r187nz with 802.11a/b/g/n/ac, but now the specification of a 17-ab077nz Pavilion (which is otherwise almost identical) talking only about 802.11 ac.  Other new models also offer 802.11ac only. No more recent laptops provide is more possibilities Wifi 2.4 GHz? Having high speed at home is great, but I fear that, on a trip, 5 GHz networks will not be not always available.

802.11ac works that in the band 5 ghz but 802.11ac compatible radios will return to 802.11n and if 2.4 ghz 5 ghz is not available.

    http://www.Trustedreviews.com/opinions/802-11AC-vs-802-11n-what-s-the-difference

I've owned several 802.11ac laptops and never had a problem connecting at airports, Starbucks, etc. And they tend to be broadcast only on the band 2.4 ghz or 2.4 and 5 ghz.

  • L50-B-1NM satellite - wifi only works near the router

Hi just bought this laptop for my daughter Toshiba L50-B-1NM 15.6 inches processor Ci3 4 GB 1 TB and wifi only works if he was sitting next to the router.

It will connect to the internet if the ethernet cable is connected, BUT for wifi, the laptop has been sitting almost touch the router. The rest of the House works well.

Please could you help me before I take it back to the shop and eventually making a fool of myself.

I'm really not good with technology so if you do not answer could you explain to me like a baby please ;) lol

Thank you very much, totally disappointed at the moment because it cost me a lot of money for it :(

    Hi maria,

I think you should consider a fact: the L50-B-1NM Satellite was equipped with an Intel 802.11ac + card agn combo Wifi/BT.

802.11 AC is a new WLan standard that isn't taken care of by all old WLan routers.
But of course, the standard 802.11 A / G or N must be supported by older devices correctly.

I think first of all you must check if the wireless performance question isn't related to energy saving settings. I guess during wifi problems, the laptop uses battery power
In this case we would use different power plan settings.

Please check the settings that are in the advanced within the current energy saving Central WLan power settings.

Where this doesn t help you solve the problem of WiFi signal weak, you should contact the authorized Toshiba maintainer to check the connection to the WLan antenna.

It may be possible that the antenna isn't properly connected, which is originally a weak WiFi signal.

Because the laptop is under warranty, it should be fix toll-free number.

I ordered a refurbished iPad 3 wifi only and they sent me a wifi + 3g - mistakenly - without sim card.  This is my first experience with a tablet of any kind and so I have a few questions:

    1. is there a reason I can't return the wifi + 3 g iPad for iPad wifi only?

    2. What is the difference between an iPad only wifi and the other with wifi + 3 g without a sim card?

    3. it would be an advantage to get a SIM for iPad?

    4. what could I do with wifi + iPad 3 g WITHOUT sim card that I can't do with the wifi only?

    Thanks - TP

    1 honesty

2 WiFi + cell phone has GPS receiver and cellular material (obviously) to work with the cellular network.

    3. Yes, but you're dishonest.

    4. you can have internet access while you travel (for example: in your car, on the beach etc, where there is cellular signal coverage)

I understand it's not your fault, but you should always contact the seller and inform them of the error. If they tell you to keep, jump up and down with happiness.

  • can it work on wifi only

IM considering getting a Apple Watch, but I was just wondering if it would be able to use apps like Instagram without my phone nearby and wifi only (that my phone is connected to front)?

Also I don't know if wait for 2nd generation going, could anyone give advise?

    Thanks, Justin

    Hello

A Wi - Fi connection does not work as a substitute equivalent / like-for-like for the Bluetooth connection.

Apple Watch offers a number of features when the pair iPhone is not connected via Bluetooth:

-Play music from a playlist synchronized on Apple Watch.

-Use the watch for the time, as well as alarms, stopwatches and the clock.

-Keep track of your activity (Stand, Move, exercise) with the application of the activity.

-Follow the training with the application of the workout.

-View photos of the synced photo album.

    -Use Apple pay for shopping.

If your Apple Watch is within range of a wireless (2.4 GHz) network that your iPhone is connected to before, but your iPhone and watch are not currently connected via Bluetooth, the watch can connect to the network and you can also still:

-Send and receive messages using iMessage.

-Send and receive digital messages Touch.

    -Use Siri.

-Make and receive calls if you have calls enabled Wi - Fi (depending on your operator).

  • Local access only on wireless network

My laptop (Toshiba Satellite L350-203 with Vista SP1 HPE) has lost the ability to connect to the internet using my home network. I have McAfee Internet Security and charge of IE8, but both were present before the problem appeared. My home network is now displayed as 'unidentified public network' and the laptop has "local access only". He seems unable to keep the WEP key for the network as it asks everytime I try to connect. I confirmed that the WEP key is correct. There are 3 other computers in the House that connect without a problem, so I guess that the router is not the source of the anomaly. I tried accessing another network to another place (with any necessary safety information) but get the same result, so that other computers can connect successfully. I am able to access the internet via an account mobile broadband (using a "dongle"), but I added this account after the problem appeared, so once I don't suspect it as being the culprit. Diagnosis in the "network and sharing Center" routines are unable to solve the problem, so any help is most welcome.

    Roy Mac

    Hello Roy Mac,

Thank you for using the Microsoft Windows Vista Forums.

You receive an error or the error codes when you try to connect?  You're obviously network savy upward so if something seems repetitive please ignore, you tried to delete the location and replace?   Is there any software for the high account mobile broadband that could changed settings?  Are you able to connect to the router with an ethernet cable access to the internet without problem?

A wireless network uses authentication and encryption to help stay secure. Authentication controls access to the wireless network. Encryption helps to ensure that malicious users cannot determine the contents of wireless data frames.  Windows Vista includes a new wireless network configuration setting. The new setting indicates whether a wireless network is broadcast or not broadcast. You can also use the new configuration setting that a Windows Vista wireless client connects to a non-broadcast network.

I've added two links below one for Microsoft and one for the installation of networks and networks the Toshiba site.  Please let us know status.   Thank you!

The software that you used with Windows XP to connect to wireless networks is not compatible with Windows Vista. Alternatively, you can use Windows Vista to configure wireless networks.

To connect to a wireless network in Windows Vista, follow these steps:

    1. click on Start

    Collapse this includes this image

, then click on connection to.

    2. click on the wireless network you want to connect, and then click connect.

Note During the connection process, you may be prompted for a key WEP Wired Equivalent Privacy (). If you do not have this key, contact the network administrator to help wireless.

  • Windows Vista - unidentified network Local Access only tried everything please help

    Hello

I have an Acer Aspire M1610 running Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack 2 and 2 days ago when I turned it on the internet was not working and it says unidentified network Local access only. I use a wired Ethernet connection. I don't know how it happened as before I had used the computer as usual and the Internet worked very well. I did a lot of research and read a few forum posts about this problem and tried a few solutions but non of them worked. I tried the following:
    (1) disable my firewall and anti-virus who didn't work, I turned their back on immediately.

    2) press Ctrl-Shift-Enter keyboard shortcut to run a command as administrator prompt.  Allow the elevation.

Type route delete 0.0.0.0 press ENTER.

    Type ipconfig/flushdns press enter

    Restart your computer.

    (3) the internet protocol version 6 clear, disable and enable the thing

    (4) if same Norton software removal tool I had uninstalled the when I got the computer I read that uninstall it by using uninstall windows is not entirely remove it.

    (5) another thing in the command prompt I don't remember exactly what it was, and I can't find the site Web is because I looked so much of.

    (6) I even reset my computer to factory settings and then uninstalled all unnecessary software and trials that come with and used the software again Norton removal tool.

Does anyone know how to fix this? Any response will be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

  • Broken WRT54GL? (Local access only)

I had this WRT54G for about 6 or 7 years at this point and have never had a problem with it.

Yesterday all THE devices on the network boot is more access to the internet, I have 1 physical connection and the rest of the devices are wireless, none of them can access the internet. I have the automatic DHCP configuration so I do not understand why there should be problems on this small network. My cable modem is fine and gets the signal from my carrier and when I connect on the web interface on the router I can actually ping and tracert very well on screen diagnosis for the router itself has clearly internet access, but none of the devices on the local network only.

I have confirmed that they have all valid IP addresses, assigned by the DHCP service, all can ping the router very well. I emptied the caches dns, release / renewed addresses, reset the cable modem and the router on 6 times each, still nothing. I also updated the firmware today (4.30.11-> 4.30.17), the update was successful, but it has not fixed the problem.

And just to show there were no changes to the network or anything, just out of the Blue yesterday nothing on the network could access the internet. That's what makes me think of the router itself is broken and needs to be replaced. Willing to listen to the advice of troubleshooting, but I already have a lot of it.

Hi dankmemer. You said to make an update of the firmware, did you do a hard reset just after that? You reinstall the settings from scratch? The reset will ensure that the new firmware will synchronize with the new settings. To make the correct reset, please press the reset button on the router for 30 seconds while the unit is turned on. Release the button and unplug the unit.  Given that the unit will return to the default settings, re - install the settings from scratch.

If the same thing happens, then it may be best to check our latest range of routers. Six years of service should be good enough for the present.

  • local access only: unable to connect to the internet

Recently, my laptop has trouble to connect to my home network. It's a laptop Dell and Windows Vista. This laptop used to connect wirelessly to the network without any problem, but lately, whenever it connects, it is said that "local access" and does not allow me to use the internet. " This problem occurred at the same time I replaced my old router with a new. Another laptop and other devices can still connect to the internet with this new router with no problems, but my laptop stops the message "local access only".

After some research, I discovered that in typing "Cmd" in the search bar after clicking the start menu, run this program as an administrator, type "netsh int ip reset" in the command prompt, then by restarting my computer would fix my problem and my laptop would work very well and connect to the network and to the internet with no problems. However, as soon as my laptop is entered 'sleep' mode or has been disabled, when it was turned on again the problem persists and I have to follow the process of using the command prompt and restart the computer every time I turned on my laptop.

As you can imagine, this process can be quite annoying and I would like to find a more permanent solution to my problem, especially since the past several times, I tried this workaround, it failed, so my laptop is once more without internet access. If anyone has any suggestions, it would be appreciated I am completely puzzled. Thanks for any help.

    Method 2
In addition, you can disable IPv6 to see if that nor does not affect the wireless adapter.

    To disable IPv6:
    (a) go to start, right click on the network, and then click Properties.
    (b) network and sharing window will appear, then click on manage network connections.
    (c) network connections window will appear. Here you can right click on the network adapter that you want to disable IPv6, then click Properties.
    (d) in the local area network connection properties window, clear the Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) check box, and then click OK.
