Locking a PDF file so that pro and standard users cannot edit and save

We have a standard user Adobe X and three Adobe X pro users and the rest of our personal user Reader X.  My problem is that when I create a form and lock it and then place it on our Linux Server standard and pro users can edit and save this form as if he is not at all safe.  Reader users cannot do anything except to fill in the form according to allowances for the security on the form.  Is it possible to ensure that all users are the same?  Standard and pro users are the worst to save their information in the forms.  I really want to be able to make sure they can't.  I sure not a pro by any stretch Adobe I learn something new every day so any help is gratefully accepted.

Thanks for answering my question.  The main reason we want no the staff to be able to save a form after that that it is been completed is that many of our forms are used by all staff and completed differently each time.  They would be more than welcome to save locally to their own files over, but what is happening is that the main form is often completed and recorded by the staff.  When the form is used by the next person it is filled with the latest information of users.  I want to lock forms to stop this problem from happening.  Of course, if the form requires an electronic signature, it will save, but who is saved locally and not on the server of the Agency.

What should I do toget back the changes that I made a PDF doc because Acrobat just stops?

    Hey Woisix,

The auto save feature prevents changes to PDF since be lost after an unexpected interruption.

Open the file to which you were changes. When you are prompted, click Yes to open the automatically saved files.

If auto-save is turned off, then restart of the Preferences dialog box.

Open Edit > Preferences > Documents and check "automatically save document changes to temporary file every XX minutes" and specify minutes for how often you want to save changes to the PDF files.

If this feature has been disabled, so it is not possible to recover lost in the PDF file changes.

    Use the Acrobat Pro preflight!

To incorporate the missing fonts in Acrobat Preflight profile will incorporate the missing fonts in your PDF file assuming that:

    (1) the fonts in question are installed on your system and

    (2) the police themselves is not protected against the incorporation (they can at least see and print incorporation.

-Extract all data from a single file can be done via the tools - forms - more form Options - export data...

-Extract some data from a single file will require a script to measure.

-Extract all the data from multiple fields in a single file can be done via the tools - forms - more form Options - merge data files into spreadsheet...

-Extraction of data from several files will require a script Custom Action, as I've written before.

  • Cannot create Excel to pdf files in Adobe Pro XI

I have lots to create pdf files in Adobe Pro XI every two weeks.  Two weeks ago, I was unable to do more.  It seems that Adobe cannot open Excel or something.  I go to file/create/batch create multiple files.  I add files and select the directory to put them.  I get "unexpected error has occurred.  PDFMaker was able to produce the PDF from Adobe. "I fixed Adobe Adobe and inside Control Panel, uninstalled then reinstalled Adobe, checked the items disabled in Excel and unchecked and rechecked Acrobat PDFMaker Office COM Addin in Excel.  I am still unable to create even a single pdf file from Adobe.  I'll have to open each file separately in Excel and convert them to PDF format it.  Any help is appreciated.

I found the answer.  I was able to create files in Word that made me believe that the problem was with Excel and not Adobe.  I did a repair of Excel, and all is well.

  • I have created a PDF file using Adobe DC and I need to share this amongst many pepole. They need to install adobe DC on their pc

I have created a PDF file using Adobe DC and I need to share this amongst many pepole. Do need to install adobe DC in their pc.

    It depends on.

    1. most people with reasonably new equipment can read PDF files in any case using things that are built in. This includes

    -Windows 8 and later versions

    -Mac OS (all users)

    -iOS (iPhone, iPad)

    -Android (phones and tablets)

    2. many people Windows have a web browser that can read PDF files anyway. This includes

    -Chrome

    -FireFox

    3. This means there are many different types of software that can read PDF files. If you do a simple PDF, you should be fine. If you make shapes or portfolios or media, your end users must install Acrobat Reader, even if they otherwise can read a PDF file.

  • I want to create a combined pdf file so I can print 4 items per page to save on printing. Do I need a plugin for that?

I want to create a combined pdf file so I can print 4 items per page to save on printing. It's something my printer guy did to save me from printing. However, I just bought a printer xp Epsom 200 advertised on the box that it was a feature. It turns out that it is a feature of adobe. I'm confused, why he has been announced. In any case, I have Adobe suite with PSCS5 hace. How can I do this?

In the dialog box print of Acrobat and the free reader, you can select Multiple option to print multiple pages on a single physical page.

If you have a file with these pages you will need to use Acrobat for that. You can use the Adobe PDF printer (on a Windows machine, at least) to generate a new PDF with several pages of the former on each page.

  • How can I associate between pdf files - so that the links work for all users.

I have created a digital book with pdf files for each chapter and index individual (the files are too large to combine them into 1 pdf). I'll create links between the chapter titles in the index to each chapter (pdf). It works on my system, but the links do not work if I provide to someone else. Obviously, the link is the search of my ' computer / my account / my file ', and that the files are open on another system it cannot find them. There got to be a simple solution... somebody put me out of my misery please!

    Thanks in advance.

You should only use this type of action for non-PDFs. For the links to the PDF format, use the type "go to a page view.

  • PDF files would simply open and disappeared

Our internet provider is Bell and their security system is now with McAfee. This morning I received a message from McAfee that a new update Adobe Reader must be installed. I did, but now I couldn't read any PDF file. PDF files would simply open and disappeared. I tried different configurations, but still not able to open PDF files. Help, please.

    Three things to try...

    1. Using Windows Explorer navigate to C:\Program Files (x 86) \Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader, and then double-click Eula.exe and accept the license agreement
    2. You can open Adobe Reader by itself?  If so, try to disable the Protected Mode [Edit |] Preferences | (Improved) security].
    3. It might even be a malware problem; See http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/reader-core-dll-error.html

I have autocad does not when I make a pdf file using autocad 2002 and adobe acrobat XI

We have adobe acrobat 8, on another system that seems to work correctly, what elsedo we do to get this trial version works properly.

We are able get all been put in place, size, etc, but when the process starts it says "autocad does not and he just turns and never does the real final pdf.»

Any help on this would be appreciated

It's probably a compatibility problem with libraries updated PDF vs you desperately old ACAD that cannot be resolved. In any case, I would consider it one of those things to try to attack the problem on the wrong end. All major CAD software have native PDF export these days and same ACAD had at least since v2006...

  • I have some PDf files on my computer and I want to add to my iPad

I have some PDf files on my computer and I want to add to my iPad, I add files to iTunes and they will only music and I cannot change them at the podcast or iTunes U format. I made some how manage to add to the iBooks on my phone app, but the print is so small and difficult to read. I try to add them to my iPad and can't do it. Any info is greatly appreciated.

Your Mac has the app iBooks on it (i.e. running Mavericks, Yosemite or El Capitan)? If it is then you add PDF files to iBooks (file > add to library) no iTunes - if you then connect the iPad to your Mac iTunes, they should then show on the tab 'books' selection and timing to the it

Try to uncheck the "documents open as tabs in the same window" under "Edit > preferences > General".

I have Adobe export in PDF format. Can I combine PDF files with that?

Unfortunately, no. ExportPDF is just to create Word (or Excel) documents of existing PDF files. To combine several PDF files into one, you must either Pack PDF or Acrobat DC.
