Locking computer to other users

How to lock my computer, so that can't see the content?

How to lock my computer, so that can't see the content?

Your question is a little vague.
I'll try to anwer better than I can.

1. If you don't want anyone to use your computer, all you need to do is set a password that will be required to enter before anyone can use the computer.
BUT I don't think that's what you hear.

2. If you want to say that you do not want other users to see the contents of your staff in the computer, here's what you need to do:

Create a user account for each user.
Each user will have a secret password which is login required for access to his account.
This way, if the user disconnects, no one can see what are user account because they do not have to enter A user account, the user password was.

If it is still not what you mean, please explain.

I don't think that the Parental controls in Vista can control access to the individual files of the system (programs, a lot of things on the internet, but not this one).

If you have Vista Business, Vista Enterprise and Vista Ultimate, you can use the encryption of files to block access to the files/folders that you don't want other users to be able to access (except for administrators who can override the settings, but you'll know).  Here's how: http://computershopper.com/software/howto/encrypting-files-in-windows-vista.

If you do not have these versions, try Lock Folder http://www.newsoftwares.net/folderlock/ (the free version should do the trick if the paid version has more options).  Still, it uses encryption to block access.

    I hope this helps.

  • When I turn on my computer, already set up profiles disappear and are replaced by 'Kiosk' and 'other users' options that require passwords. I can get into 'other users' and find my previous user accounts, but lose them again after the reboot.

I bought a laptop with Windows 7 installed a few days ago. I started to set up user accounts, administrator and a guest. So far, I had been able to shut down and restart with the accounts of users even reappear. I turned on my computer and two 'user accounts' had replaced my previous. Named "kiosk", which requires a user name and password which I do not have access, and one named 'other users' that requires a user name and password. I type in comments and no password and then I can access the guest account. When I disconnect my administrator profile is available next to my usual guest account. Restart the "kiosk" and "other accounts" reappear. If it's any help, as soon as I put on my computer, I had named MDX kiosk and administrator accounts. I deleted the account kiosk MDX. I don't know if this is related at all. It is not necessarily a problem, but a disadvantage however and I panicked when this popped up on my computer.

Yes, you can uninstall MDX (it is called the digital experience of Microsoft) and it will remove the kiosk account and no trace of it, and then restart your machine. All other accounts on the machine should stay, but I would like to make a backup first. This should solve your problem. Associated with the store, you bought from should have done that for you, why they failed, I have no idea (we are instructed to do before the release of the machine to customers). If you don't mind asking me, where did you buy the machine?

  • Cannot download Microsoft Works Suite because "there are other users logged on to this computer"

The following message appears: "there are other users logged on to this computer.
"If you install or remove a program or change the installation of a program so that another user is running, it, there can be problems with the installation.
"To properly install, change or remove a program, click Cancel, and then switch and disconnect each user." Rerun the Setup program. »
I had installed Windows 7 but I had no problem but I have used a password. However, I could not recover files from a backup. I ended up doing a clean and try installation again, but without success. This time I do not use a password, because there is only a single user. How can I solve this problem? Help, please.

Install the appropriate version of money for your location from the following:

Note that the American Money 98 users... Money 2003 may use an additional step, described in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/919524/en-us, of first installation of the US Money 2004 or 2005 in the first instance to perform a conversion of files before installing Money sunset.

If you open an existing Money data file secure with a Windows Live ID, disconnect from the internet and remove the Live ID. Next, install a password to protect the file.

  • The locked but user can access with other users

    Hi all

I blocked a user in oracle and trying to "Account is locked out" displaying messages of connection.

But I am able user from other users query tables. How do I block it?

    For example:

I had blocked a user User1. When I logged in a user named USER2 and when I call SELECT * FROM USER1. Table_name, displays the data.

I need to block this question from other USERS.

    Help, please

    Thanks in advance...

Account lockout does not prevent others to get access on user objects. The only change is that the user won't be able to connect more.

To block others access to objects of this scheme can be done by defining the privileges of law for other users, or with the vault of the database by creating a Kingdom

around this blocked scheme (DV requires an additional license).

  • How to keep my destop icons to be spread to other users on my computer?

When I install programs, and they create an icon on my desktop it gets created too much on other users of the machine.  How can I remove the icons from other users and keep it on my desktop? And, when I install a program how I can only place oon my office program icon?

    Thank you

One way would be to do not create the icon on the desktop during installation, then add it then. Most programs have a "create Desktop Icon" option when installing, which is normally selected by default. Once the program is installed, you can find the program in the start menu (or the folder program files), right click, select "send to" the "desktop (create shortcut)".
