Log on as administrator

There is one account on this computer, and it is of course, an administrator account. I tried to launch the interface teredo with the netsh int ipv6, teredo set and get like you customer need administrator privileges. I tried starting with cmd, to get the account... always the same name. So, how can I have administrator privileges if the admin account does not accept?

Thank you.

There is one account on this computer, and it is of course, an administrator account.

That's your first mistake.
Don't use NO Windows 7 with a single account. In Windows 7, the built-in Administrator account is disabled by default, and although it is possible to allow, this process may be beyond what you feel comfortable with.
WHEN, and not IF you have problems to access your user account, you will have considerable problems if you don't have a SINGLE account to use.

Create a new user with administrator privileges, account (let's call him Admin or similar) and give it a password. Keep this account for access to emergency and for elevation purposes.

You don't even have to run as an Admin on a daily basis in Windows 7 in all. Forget everything about XP (Windows 7 UAC which means that if you do a task in a Standard user account that requires administrator privileges, Windows 7 will ask the password admin. It's that easy) and after the creation of the new Admin account, change your current account to a Standard user account, you will be much safer and better protected than that.

I tried to launch the interface teredo with the netsh int ipv6, teredo set and get like you customer need administrator privileges. I tried from cmd,

Try right click on the cmd icon and selecting "run as Administrator".

  • Impossible to install fonts even if I am logged on as administrator

I tried to install a new font, but I can't do it through a program of the Organization of the fonts.  I tried to go through the Control Panel, but when I opened the folder of fonts, it does give me the option under 'File' to install fonts.

    I went to:
http://support.Microsoft.com/GP/Admin who checked my environment and told me to go to step 2 to verify that I am logged on as administrator.  I was able to open and change the time, which, according to this page, check that I am logged on as administrator.

Then he said: 'Click here to continue' - but the link javascript:pc_NavBack (1) is idle

If I am logged in as an administrator, I should be able to install fonts - but I can't.

  • Why do I get the access denied error message when you are logged in as administrator?

"Error" failed to create the file 'C:\Windows\Fonts\[font name]. " Access is denied. "

is received when I try to install a font by being logged on as administrator (I'm the only person who uses this)
computer with password protection guest no account)

or when I use WinZip the fonts folder is not available

The fonts folder is blocked with a "read-only" access  I can't find any way to change the permissions on the folder (there is no security tab), and any attempt to change the status of reading is has met an insufficient privileges error message.  I notice that the fonts have been added during the last few days several times but I have nothing personally for it - he did alone (how I don't know).  I admit be baffled by your inability to add fonts using your CD (even though I'm reasonably sure it's read-only permission which is at the origin of the problem). I use Vista Business SP2 32-bit and my comments were based on it.  I never really tried to install fonts on my system, so I don't know if I would have the same problem - I presume that I would give for the same reasons.  The article I posted http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Install-or-uninstall-fonts explains how to install individual fonts in formats of special fonts - it does not how to do when you use a CD with an install button.  Have you tried right-clicking on the button install to see if it brings up the run as Administrator option (it probably won't)?  Here is another article on how to install fonts: http://www.lytebyte.com/2007/07/03/how-to-install-new-fonts-in-windows-vista/.  If you link to the CD player will be able to see the individual fonts and "select all" or according to which you want to install - instead of using the installation with the CD button (if you can find the right folder (s)).  Here is an article from third on the installation of the http://www.windowsreference.com/windows-vista/how-to-install-fonts-in-vista/ fonts that suggests using the install button should work as should drag / drop it into the fonts folder - thought we seem to be having trouble with these procedures (and I think he did the permissions block which I can't imagine why he's here or why there is no security tab allows you to adjust).

Maybe someone with more knowledge (like Engineer Support or an MVP) see this thread and respond with a solution.  In the meantime, I'm puzzled.

  • you are not logged as an administrator...

When I go to MSCONFIG to change which starts, I keep says I'm not logged as an administrator and I need to sign out and then sign back in as an administrator to make the changes... thing is, there is only a single user account on this computer and it is configured as an administrator.

You will need to enable the built-in Administrator, connect to it and then run analyses of malware comprehensive here.

    http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Removing_Malware

All this requires a certain level of computer skills. You know better and that take the machine to a competent local computer tech (not a type of BigComputerStore/GeekSquad place) is the best solution for you.

If you have an installation of Vista DVD (not a recovery DVDs), you can start the system with it. Select the default language, then select "repair your computer". Then select "Command Prompt". At the command prompt, type:

NET user administrator / Active: Yes [press Enter]

Remove the DVD and start up in Windows. You will now see an icon for administrator on the Welcome screen. Open a session.

If you do not have a Vista installation DVD (only have a recovery disk), the computer mftr. may have given you the option to repair Vista (not a system recovery!) system in the diagnostic menu. This menu of diagnosis is the same one where you can choose Safe Mode. Get to this menu by repeatedly pressing the F8 key as the computer starts. If you do not have this option, you can make a bootable Vista file repair DVD in this link:

    http://NeoSmart.net/blog/2008/Windows-Vista-recovery-disc-download/

Note: All the Neosmart recovery disk downloads are torrent files. There is a good explanation of the torrent on the site Web of Neosmart files. You will need a torrent as muTorrent client to get the files. Torrent client will download the .iso file with which to create the bootable DVD. You will need to use third-party burning software such as Nero, Roxio or the free ImgBurn (http://www.imgburn.com ) to burn the image .iso image file, not in the form of data.

Once you have fixed things, log on to the additional administrative account you will be made by the suggestions below and disable the administrator account integrated yet for security reasons:

Start Orb > Search box > type: cmd
When cmd appears in the above results, right-click and choose "Run as Administrator" [OK]. Now, you will get the command prompt. At the command prompt, type:

NET user administrator / active: No. [Enter]

    Exit the command prompt.

General recommendations for creating users in Vista:

You absolutely don't want to have only one user account. As XP and all the other modern operating systems, Vista is a multi-user system with integrated system of accounts as default Administrator and comments. These accounts should be left alone because they are part of the structure of the operating system.

In particular, you do not want one account user with administrative privileges on Vista because the administrator account integrated (normally only used in emergencies) is disabled by default. If you use as an administrator for your daily work, and this account is corrupt, things will be difficult.  It is not impossible to activate the built-in administrator to rescue things, but there may be more that you want to do. Better not to put you in a bad situation at first.

The user account that is for your daily work must be a Standard user, with the extra administrative user (call it something like 'CompAdmin' or 'Tech' or similar) only it for elevation purposes. As a user Standard is recommended for security reasons and will help protect your computer against infections. After you have created "CompAdmin", connect to it and change your normal user account Standard. Then log on to your regular account.

If you want to go directly to the desktop and ignore the Welcome screen with the icons of the user accounts, you can do this:

Start Orb > Search box > type: netplwiz [Enter]
Click continue (or provide an administrator password) when you are prompted by UAC

Uncheck "users must enter a user name and password to use this computer". Select a user account to connect automatically by clicking on the account you want to highlight and press OK. Enter the password for this user account (when it exists) when you are prompted. Leave blank if there is no password (null).

  • "You must be logged in as an administrator to install this program" error when I AM logged on as administrator. possible problem with TrustedInstaller security

I am logged in as administrator on the single computer.  I try to install Net Nanny, which claims to be compatible Windows 7.
The first time I tried to install it I got the error, simply, 'access denied '.  After several attempts with the same error, I rebooted in Mode safe mode with network and then got the error that the Windows Installer Service is not accessible.  After some research, I discovered that Windows Installer is not available in safe mode.
So I booted in Normal mode.  Logged as administrator.  Tried to click with the right button on the installer downloaded for Net Nanny and ran as administrator, the connection of the administrator.  Now I get the error, "You must be logged in as administrator to install this program."  I am.
I closed all firewalls, anti-virus software AND turn off the UAC.  I checked the compatibility AND security for the download tab and it is configured to run as administrator and I tried to run in several modes of compatibility.  I still don't "You must be logged in as administrator to install this program."  No matter what I try, I still get this error.
I used the command prompt, type msiexec.exe / unregister, and then msiexec/regserver.  No new results.  Still the same error.

I called Net Nanny press SEVERAL times and they will know that this is a Windows problem, because this is the first time that they already got this error.  They had me to download another file on a mirror site.  Not always the same error.  People what I'm doing wrong?  I was able to successfully install other software.  Thanks for any help!

UPDATE * I am researching always this.  This would be a TrustedInstaller security problem?  If this is the case, is it possible to fix the TrustedInstaller or turn it off?  The big question, is that I want to turn it off?  My first thought is 'no '.  However, this software is listed on the Microsoft site as being compatible with Windows 7.  Therefore, an application that is 3rd party that is accepted by Microsoft.  Wow, I'm confused.  Don't know what to do here.

    Hello carpetfresh,

A test, I temporarily disable user account control and then see if you can install Net Nanny. If so, we know that UAC is what is causing the problem with the installation.

    1. access control panel user to the Start Menu-> Control Panel-> user accounts and of security for the family-> user account

    2. click on the settings of the user account controll link.

    3. move the slider to never notify

    4. click OK for the changes to take effect

    5 reset.

Once you have correctly installed the Net Nanny, then back to the control panel and reactivate the UAC.

Answer please come back and let us know.

  • Is it possible to add the Win7 Home Premium 'Administrator' user account so that it can be selected during normal connection? I want to be able to log-in as Administrator without going the route of the F8, as in XP.

I need to be able to log in as 'Administrator' to the normal screen log-in, ranging from the road to F8 vice. I can find no option for this, not even NET USER to the CMD window. If it is possible, perhaps via a registry change, I sure would appreciate the info. Thank you

I've been running XP with no one else that me as administrator, with no named users, I received a message that I wanted to change him compelled me to be logged in as an administrator to try to see how I was really connected, I added a new user and assigned State of the user as an administrator when I rebooted the computer only about half of the icons on the desktop that presented themselves and many of those did not work correctly.  When I tried to delete the new user to go back to my home state that the computer says I can't because that would leave no user as administrator HOW CANI GET BACK to HAVING ONLY myself AS ADMINISTRATOR WHERE the COMPUTER OPERATED NORMALLY any help will be greatly appreciated as I have tried everything I can think of without success

It is not named "C:\documents and settings\old_administrator".

Assuming you have two users who are on the homescreen named BOB and JOE, when you look at C:\Documents and Settings\ you should see folders (directories) following:

    Administrator
    All users
    BOB
    JOE

If you followed this step in the Article-

    • In Windows Explorer, click on Tools, Folder Options, click the view tab, click show the hidden files and folders, clear the Hide protected operating system files check box and then click OK.

Then you will also see the following folders (normally hidden):

    Default user
    LocalService
    NetworkService

Do not make any changes to these 3 files normally hidden.

In my previous post, I assumed that (a) you had used the account named Administrator and (b) that you are now going to use the account named BOB.  Therefore, you want to copy the files and folders of

    "C:\Documents and Settings\Administrateur" {account you used}

    TO

    "C:\Documents and Settings\Bob" {the account that you will use from now on}

As the KB article notes, copy all files and folders with the exception
    Ntuser.dat
    Ntuser.dat.log
    and
    Ntuser.ini

The reason that you need to create the "computer administrator" account of JOE, it's that you cannot copy files to or from the account that you are logged.  Once the copy has been successfully accomplished, you no longer need JOE and can remove it (using the control panel > user accounts).

  • Can't log in as administrator! Impossible to change anything!

Okey, so I changed my standard account... it had been initially on administrator. I did this because whenever I did something he asked permission first... very annoying. But now, because my other user is admin, I can't do anything! My other user is asp.net of the computer account. I tried the obvious, going in managing accounts and change the type of account that I have, but all what I change while I'm logged into my now standard account does not work! I never signed up for the asp.net account and really don't know how... it does give me not an option. I would really like to help, I'm organizing the files on my external hard drive and it won't let me, it is not even ask for a password for the asp.net account.

Yes, I tried this and only my user came, asp.net never appeared.
