Hello
AVG might be a part of the problem because 8.x and 9.x together have been responsible for questions.
For everything you have ever had on the machine except the one you want to end up with the help of
be sure to use their removal tools as these can leave problems causing remains. Of course
never have more than one major antivirus on the computer.

Avast Removal Tool

===============================
Here's what I use and recommend:
Avast and Prevx proved extremely reliable and compatible with all I have
launched on them. Microsoft Security Essentials and Prevx have also proven to be very
reliable and compatible. Use MSE or Avast and Prevx, Prevx 3 but not all.
Avast Home free - stop any shields is not necessary except leaving Standard, Web, and
Operation of the network.
Prevx - Home - free
Windows Firewall
Windows Defender (is not necessary if you use MSE)
Protected IE - mode
IE 8 - SmartScreen filter WE (IE 7 phishing filter)
I also IE always start with asset if filter InPrivate IE 8.
(It may temporarily turn off with the little icon to the left of the + bottom
right of IE)
Two versions of Avast are available 5.x and 4.8 x
Avast - home - free - 5.x stop shields you do not use (except files, Web, network, &)
Shields of behavior) - double click on the icon in the Notification area - real time Orange - click on the
Shield that you want to stop - STOP. To stop the Orange icon to show an error indicator-
Click on the Orange icon - top right - settings - click on the status bar - uncheck shields you
disabled - click OK
http://www.avast.com/free-antivirus-download
Avast 4.8 x - home - free - stop shields, you don't need except leaving Standard, Web,.
and the network running. (Double-click the blue icon - look OK. - upper left - Shields details
Finish those you don't use).
http://www.avast.com/free-antivirus-download#TAB4
Or use Microsoft Security Essentials - free
http://www.Microsoft.com/Security_Essentials/
Prevx works well alongside MSE or Avast
Prevx - home - free small, fast, exceptional protection CLOUD, working with other security
programs. It is a single scanner, VERY EFFICIENT, if it finds something come back here
or use Google to see how to remove.
http://www.prevx.com/ <-->-->
http://info.prevx.com/downloadcsi.asp <-->-->
PCmag - Prevx - Editor's choice
http://www.PCMag.com/Article2/0, 2817,2346862,00.asp
Also get Malwarebytes - free - use as scanner only. If you ever think malware and that
would be unusual with Avast and occasional Prevx running with the exception of a low level cookie
(not much), to UPDATE and then run it as a scanner. I have a lot of scanners and they
never find anything of note that I started to use this configuration.
I hope this helps.

I have run several different scans and they all report I have NO viruses, spyware or malware, I basically a clean computer. However, my computer is running slowly, i.e. loads windows slowly, some pages don't open no and videos "buffer" so they did not normally in the past. I use a cable internet connection. Any input would be appreciated... Thank you.

My Vista machine is very slow to start
Original title: MY VISTA IS VERY SLOW
my computer perfomance is very slow.it takes more than 3 minutes to complete beginning up.how can I increase my performance?
On Saturday, December 25, 2010 06:16:13 + 0000, Mathew Alex wrote:> my computer perfomance is very slow.it takes more than 3 minutes to complete beginning up.how can I increase my performance? My personal opinion is that the attention of a lot of people pay to how long itis required to start is not justified. Assuming that the speed of the computer isotherwise satisfactory, it is generally not worry. Mostpeople start their computers once a day or even less frequently. Inthe general scheme of things, even a few minutes at the start is notvery important. Personally I turn on my computer when I get up themorning, then go get my coffee. When I come back, he did start. I havedon't know how long it took to start and I do not. However, if you don't want to solve it, it may be due to thisprograms start up automatically and you can stop some of themto start this way. On each program, you do not want to startautomatically, check its Options to see if he has the choice of not doingStart (make sure that you actually choose the option do not run, not)just one 'do not display the icon"option). Many can easily and better be arrestedin this way. If this does not work, run MSCONFIG from the start. Runline and on the Startup tab, uncheck the programs you wantstarts automatically. However, if I were you, I wouldn't do it just for the application ofthe minimum number of running programs. Despite what many people sayyou, you should be concerned, not with the way * a lot * of these programsyou run, but * that *. Some of them can degrade performance severely, butothers have no effect on performance.Don't stop all programs to run willy-nilly. What you need to dois to determine what each program is, what its value is up to you whichthe performance cost is its running all the time. You can getmore information on the latter with research on the internet and ask questions onSpecifications here.Once you have this information, you can make a smart informeddecision on what you want to keep and what you want to get rid of.Ken Blake (MS-MVP)

My Acer One ZG 5 is apparently very slow a file called scvhost.exe (I think) eats memory. What can I do?
What is useful or even possible to upgrade to windows 7?Hello
Svchost.exe is a process on the computer that hosts, or contains, other individual services that Windows uses to perform various functions. For example, Windows Defender uses a service that is hosted by a svchost.exe process.
There may be multiple instances of svchost.exe running on your computer, each instance containing different services. One instance of svchost.exe can host a single service for a program, and another instance can host several services related to Windows. You can use Manager tasks to display services running under each instance of svchost.exe.
To view the services that are running under svchost.exe:
(a) open the Manager the tasks by right-clicking on the taskbar and then click Task Manager.
(b) click on process tab.
(c) If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
(d) Hovering mouse on one of the processes will show you a list of all the services. You mentioned that your computer is running slowly. Follow the troubleshooting method specified in the link here.

Recent problem with very slow internet browsing on all browsers Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit
Separated from this thread.
Hi all I'm having the same issues as Theresa in the thread above split. I have Vista Home Premium 32 bit service Pack 2 with all the installed updates (automatically done!). Within 3 months, this PC at home that was formerly an excellent navigation device became very slow when you browse using IE, Firefox or Chrome. It takes 30 to 50 seconds to load any web page (Yahoo, eBay, etc.). I followed all the instructions suggested to Theresa in SafeMode by Bill Smithers. Resulted in nothing other than a few cookies and Wetherbug I killed. I also run McAfee total protection and Spybot S & D every 3 days with nothing found.
I have reset my browsers to the specifications of the factory without change.
Comcast is my internet provider high speed and my speedtest returns 65 - 75 MB/s download and 11 Mbit/s upload very regularly. I connect directly to the bridge. I had Comcast out and they swapped unity Arris of a unit of Cisco beefier but that changes nothing. Other devices on my network domestic perform very well and do not have this problem.
When I browse a site the CPU spikes up to 88% use in 45 seconds and is stable at 50% usage 1.7 GB memory.
The only thing I can infer is at this time that something happened to the operating system during automatic updates or some other setting has been changed. I could use any help or suggestions you may have! Otherwise, I love this OS and have not had any problems. Thanks, Dhoffa

- Download the latest version of Firefox from mozilla.org office (or choose the download for your operating system and language on this page) and save the file to install it on your computer.
- Once the download is complete, close all Firefox Windows (or open the Firefox menu
Click the close button
).
- Remove the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
- Windows:
- C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
- C:\Program Files (x 86) \Mozilla Firefox
- Mac: Delete Firefox in the Applications folder.
- Linux: If you have installed Firefox with the distribution-based package manager, you must use the same way to uninstall: see Install Firefox on Linux. If you have downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder firefox in your home directory.
- Windows:
- Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
- Double-click on the downloaded Setup file and go through the steps in the installation wizard.
- Once the wizard is completed, click to open Firefox directly after clicking the Finish button.
More information on the resettlement of Firefox can be found here.
WARNING: Do not use an uninstaller to third parties as part of this process. This could permanently delete your Firefox profile data, including but not limited to, extensions, cache, cookies, bookmarks, personal settings and passwords saved. They can be retrieved easily unless they have been backed up on an external device! See back up and restore the information contained in the profiles of Firefox.
Please report to say if this helped you!

Internet very slow on Windows Vista (wireless) (originally said Windows 7)
Original title: very slow internet
I would like to know what windows 7 64-bit options to activate and to get the best wireless connection. Right now just getting from one page to the same or another place to place on a page can be a real pain. Thank you for your time
Proposed by Vista forum moderator as shown in the information system to the Vista computer file
Home Basic with SP2 installed upgrading.Mike
I apologize is not getting back to you earlier.
When you download and install games and other you don't normally need to keep what you have downloaded in the downloads folder. Some downloads are wide to remove could free up some disk space! You need to do on a regular basis to keep on top of the problem...
The content of your video in total 414 GB file. You might look at some of them again? If this is not the case, delete those that you no longer need.
You have a lot of icons on the desktop. Take a look at these and remove those that you never use.
When you did above select Start, all programs, accessories, System Tools, cleaning disk to emptying your trash, delete temporary Internet files and other selected options. I recommend also you click Other Options, System Restore and delete all but the last system restore point. Run Disk Defragmenter.

Hello
See if this helps you:
Search for malware, if necessary using the safe mode with networking.
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/how-to-start-Windows-in-safe-mode/#Vista
Windows Vista
Using the F8 method:
- Restart your computer.
- When the computer starts, you will see your computer hardware are listed. When you see this information begins to tap the F8 key repeatedly until you are presented with the Boot Options Advanced Windows Vista.
- Select the Safe Mode with networking with the arrow keys.
- Then press enter on your keyboard to start mode without failure of Vista.
- To start Windows, you'll be a typical logon screen. Connect to your computer and Vista goes into safe mode.
- Do whatever tasks you need and when you are done, reboot to return to normal mode.
Once in Safe Mode with network, download and run RKill.
RKill does NOT remove the malware; It stops the Malware process that gives you a chance to remove it with your security programs.

Then, download, install, update and scan your system with the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware in Mode safe mode with networking:

It would be a good idea to run the System File Checker tool to see if you have corrupted files
"How to use the System File Checker tool to fix the files on system missing or corrupted on Windows Vista or Windows 7"
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929833
Use the (SFC.exe) System File Checker tool to determine which file is causing the problem and then replace the file. To do this, follow these steps:
- Open an elevated command prompt. To do this, click Start, click principally made programs, Accessories, right-click guest, and then click run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click allow.
- Type the following command and press ENTER:sfc/scannow
The sfc/scannow command analyzes all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with appropriate Microsoft versions.
If SFC detects serious flaws, you may need to perform a repair upgrade Installation or relocation complete if you don't have a Vista DVD from Microsoft.
If you can borrow a DVD of Vista from Microsoft you save doing a reinstall full:

Vuze download is very slow... He pointed out that I have a nat problem... Help please.?
Hello
· What browser do you use to access the internet?
· What is the full error message that you receive?
· Is it only when you download on Vuze?
I suggest that temporarily disable you antivirus software and firewall installed on your computer and check to see if it helps:
Disable the anti-virus software
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/disable-antivirus-software
Enable or disable Windows Firewall
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/turn-Windows-Firewall-on-or-offNote: disabling anti-virus or Windows Firewall can make your computer (and your network, if you have one) more vulnerable to damage caused by worms or hackers.
You can also post your query on Vuze forum to get help:

Since we moved and got a fiber optic connection, my computer is very slow. We have laptops in the House on windows xp and wireless connections that are not having problems with speed. My computer is directly connected to the modem.

Try without commitment TCP/IPv6:
If you still have internet connection probs, one thing to try is the separation of the TCP/IPv6 (which is done by going to network connection > right click > properties > it uncheck > OK.)

Need to update Wireless DSL internet connection very slow in Vista driver.
I have a dsl connection, the wireless is very slow. I have windows vista and bought an ethernet cable and I can not connect via cable. My technician suggested I need to download a driver for a cable modem but can not find such a download via windows vista
* original title - I need to install a driver for the ethernet cable, I bought for my dsl connection but cannot find a windows vista driver *.
You do not receive a download for an Ethernet cable.
Make sure you have the right cable
And go to the site of the Modem Manufactutrer'e and are looking for the latest version of the Firmware/software for the modem.
Or if it's the drivers for your network adapter you are referring to:
Go to the website of the manufacturer of your computer/laptop > drivers and downloads Section > key in your model number > look for the latest Vista drivers > download/install them.
The computer you are using now if you have an Internet connection with the other > download / save drivers > copy them into Flash Drive > transfer / install on another computer/laptop.
If you have additional problems, I suggest that you ask that technician who advise you on this issue download driver problem.
See you soon.

Very slow SSD OCZ Vertex 3 Pavilion MSI MS-7184 problem
Hi guys, hat
I ve becomes a gift from a friend in the form of a Pavilion Desktop PC.
The first problem is that I don't really know the type of flag of it.
What is certain, is that it is equipped with a
- Card mother MSI MS-7184
- 2 GB OF RAM
- Radeon HD 6570 chart and it has the
- BIOS version 3.48
- HP P/N: 5188-3246
This is my second (big) problem with it:
I have buyed an OCZ Vertex 3 SSD, hoping I am going to upgrade and increase my speed to WIN 7 Ultimate. Not my day... it's so slooooow. I tried bothways, that is, copy of the system partition on the new SSD and new installation WIN7 Ultimate on the SSD drive.
I searched on the net on SSD include slow questions and the only things I found were that I have to activate the option to access HDD AHCI in the BIOS, option that I have not in my BIOS.
All help aprecciated!
Thank you.
Hello
Please report the number of HP for the PC product.
Do you know what level of firmware your Vertex 3 is running? Firmware version 2.22 is the last. If your firmware is down 2.06, then you need to upgrade gradually. I would not be to update the firmware if you decide to return the SSD drive. See my information below.
I think that the card mother MSI has only SATA I, which is very slow for a VERTEX 3 allowing to operate at full capacity. Frankly, I'm surprised that the VERTEX 3 works even on a SATA what should I wear as much SATA III SSD will not work on a SATA I port. Review this OCZ VERTEX 3 document.
You can see if you can return and exchange for another SSD that is backward compatible with SATA I. Maybe the Vertex 2 or the agility-2 would be better for your needs.
