Recent problem with very slow internet browsing on all browsers Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit
Separated from this thread.
Hi all I'm having the same issues as Theresa in the thread above split. I have Vista Home Premium 32 bit service Pack 2 with all the installed updates (automatically done!). Within 3 months, this PC at home that was formerly an excellent navigation device became very slow when you browse using IE, Firefox or Chrome. It takes 30 to 50 seconds to load any web page (Yahoo, eBay, etc.). I followed all the instructions suggested to Theresa in SafeMode by Bill Smithers. Resulted in nothing other than a few cookies and Wetherbug I killed. I also run McAfee total protection and Spybot S & D every 3 days with nothing found.
I have reset my browsers to the specifications of the factory without change.
Comcast is my internet provider high speed and my speedtest returns 65 - 75 MB/s download and 11 Mbit/s upload very regularly. I connect directly to the bridge. I had Comcast out and they swapped unity Arris of a unit of Cisco beefier but that changes nothing. Other devices on my network domestic perform very well and do not have this problem.
When I browse a site the CPU spikes up to 88% use in 45 seconds and is stable at 50% usage 1.7 GB memory.
The only thing I can infer is at this time that something happened to the operating system during automatic updates or some other setting has been changed. I could use any help or suggestions you may have! Otherwise, I love this OS and have not had any problems. Thanks, Dhoffa

Internet very slow on Windows Vista (wireless) (originally said Windows 7)
Original title: very slow internet
I would like to know what windows 7 64-bit options to activate and to get the best wireless connection. Right now just getting from one page to the same or another place to place on a page can be a real pain. Thank you for your time
Proposed by Vista forum moderator as shown in the information system to the Vista computer file
Home Basic with SP2 installed upgrading.Mike
I apologize is not getting back to you earlier.
When you download and install games and other you don't normally need to keep what you have downloaded in the downloads folder. Some downloads are wide to remove could free up some disk space! You need to do on a regular basis to keep on top of the problem...
The content of your video in total 414 GB file. You might look at some of them again? If this is not the case, delete those that you no longer need.
You have a lot of icons on the desktop. Take a look at these and remove those that you never use.
When you did above select Start, all programs, accessories, System Tools, cleaning disk to emptying your trash, delete temporary Internet files and other selected options. I recommend also you click Other Options, System Restore and delete all but the last system restore point. Run Disk Defragmenter.

Hello
See if this helps you:
Search for malware, if necessary using the safe mode with networking.
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/how-to-start-Windows-in-safe-mode/#Vista
Windows Vista
Using the F8 method:
- Restart your computer.
- When the computer starts, you will see your computer hardware are listed. When you see this information begins to tap the F8 key repeatedly until you are presented with the Boot Options Advanced Windows Vista.
- Select the Safe Mode with networking with the arrow keys.
- Then press enter on your keyboard to start mode without failure of Vista.
- To start Windows, you'll be a typical logon screen. Connect to your computer and Vista goes into safe mode.
- Do whatever tasks you need and when you are done, reboot to return to normal mode.
Once in Safe Mode with network, download and run RKill.
RKill does NOT remove the malware; It stops the Malware process that gives you a chance to remove it with your security programs.

Then, download, install, update and scan your system with the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware in Mode safe mode with networking:

It would be a good idea to run the System File Checker tool to see if you have corrupted files
"How to use the System File Checker tool to fix the files on system missing or corrupted on Windows Vista or Windows 7"
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929833
Use the (SFC.exe) System File Checker tool to determine which file is causing the problem and then replace the file. To do this, follow these steps:
- Open an elevated command prompt. To do this, click Start, click principally made programs, Accessories, right-click guest, and then click run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click allow.
- Type the following command and press ENTER:sfc/scannow
The sfc/scannow command analyzes all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with appropriate Microsoft versions.
If SFC detects serious flaws, you may need to perform a repair upgrade Installation or relocation complete if you don't have a Vista DVD from Microsoft.
If you can borrow a DVD of Vista from Microsoft you save doing a reinstall full:

Portege R400: Very slow Performance with Vista Ultimate
Hi all
Portege R400 is delivered with Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit Edition and Vista is really - honestly - incredibly slow! (especially with R400, due to the configuration of the laptop)
So I decided to install Windows XP Tablet PC... But I discovered that there is no driver available for R400 XP.I'm not directly complaining on the Portege models/series...
It's a great design and I bought it, knowing the configuration. But I didn't know how Vista was eager for system resources...I complain on Toshiba policy or what-so-ever ONLY to the Vista and not XP drivers.
Microsoft is desperately trying to sell Vista because they know, they really don't have this time and I heard stories about how they block their own market XP... .and I think that Microsoft and Toshiba can have an agreement on "selling only computers laptop Vista..." (just a guess but it seems so... correct me if I'm wrong)
It is a torture to use Vista on Portege R400 and other equivalent configurations. (even when all the Visual effects system, disabled etc.)
On the other hand, I can't use my XP on R400 tablet... so...So, trust me when I say I'm going to throw it away!
But before doing this, if anyone of you knows a solution to my problem. Please let me know,
because I paid a lot of money for this turtle.concerning
PS: I hope that this is a democratic platform and my post not be erased or changed.
Hello
First of all, you don't have to suspect Microsoft or Toshiba has an agreement with Vista. Toshiba isn't the only primary selling units with just a VIsta operating system, almost every laptop to the manufacturer it.
And you're right, Vista is a slow operating system, because it has a new UI with lots of graphic effects here and there and many features like the sidebar, you have really not at all.Since I bought my first one Vista laptop at the beginning of the year, I thought, as I don't want to not be installed and want my XP back and so on and there was no available to manufacturers of XP drivers download page either. I have a Toshiba laptop no and had the same frustration as you.
Now, I had two options, check every important feature on my own via google or using tools such as engineering pilot or pimp my Vista driver installation.
Firstly I did an installation of XP, all drivers to research, I need, who did not take my as much as I thought it would be. But after a while, I wanted to give the new Microsoft OS a chance.Used disk recovery and first wiped all the software I didn't need, so goodbye almost every tool installed on my machine, which was not unique to microsoft.
Disabled many features, that I didn't want and I can say, speed increased a lot! This brought my buy an original version of Vista, made a new installation, installed all the drivers necessary, and hey, I'm happy with it.Thus, ended with my story, you have two options now. Search XP drivers on your own, using the tools and google or tweak your Vista. There are many guides on the internet that can help you.
And do not be angry with Toshiba, as it's the same problem with other manufacturers too, as you can see in my case.

My TB version 31.1.0 and 31.1.2 drop-down menu commands and commands "right button" very slow... All other menu programs bars will work perfectly. Tried disabling McAfee, no diff. TB collects e-mails, wrote e-mails to a normal speed without problem. Control S, V, P, etc work but slow... what to do?
To diagnose problems with Thunderbird, try one of the following:
- Restart Thunderbird with disabled modules (Thunderbird Safe Mode). On the Help menu, click "restart with disabled modules. If Thunderbird works as usual, there is an add-on or theme interfere with normal operations. You will need to reactivate the modules one at a time until you locate the offender.
- Restart the operating system in safe mode with network. This loads only the basics needed to start your computer while allowing Internet access. Click on your operating system for instructions on how to start in safe mode: Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP, OSX
- If the safe mode for the operating system to resolve the problem, there are other software on your computer that is causing problems. The possibilities include but not limited to: AV scanning, virus/malware, background downloads such as updates of the program.

Firefox is very slow. Common solutions have not worked
Hello
I really hope someone can help!I have a 5920 AcerAspire on Window Vista
Thunderbird has become very slow - up to 10 seconds to load a page (especially since this Monday).
So far, I have:
Used 3 pieces different malware (my normal F Secure, SuperAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes) and got rid of 3 Trojans (all Tracur).SpeedyFox installed - no effect
Updated Plug-ins
Experienced by disabling all plug-ins to see if speeding up things - there is no
Checked with my ISP connection speed. It is very well
Now for some strange reason, since I have updated my Firefox Plugins, I can't open Thunderbird at all - I just get the whirring circle for a few seconds then nothing.
Someone at - it a solution? Please, I beg you!
Well, then let's do it.
Please read how to create a new profile (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Managing-profiles) and just create a vacuum, one for testing, if it starts fine with tat, then we know that it is just a matter of a corrupted profile and we can transfer all of your information in the new profile.

Satellite A300D PSAKCC very slow for no reason
System: Toshiba A300D (PSAKCC - 01300Y)
OS: Vista 64-bit, SP2
(Everything is factory)Hi, I got home Wednesday night from work and my computer was VERY slow. It also blocks no foreseeable reason since and I also noticed IO errors when you try to back up some audio files on my external.
* Example: * "error 0x8007045D: the request could not be performed because of an i/o device error." (when you try to move a specific .wav file)In addition, a new symptom that recently and currently makes himself aware for me is: when typing this thread the guest moves randomly at unpredictable times, usually with the result of finishing or from a word in an unwanted random location in the message. Hard to explain, really, but I thought I would include, because it is extremely annoying and seems so virus-ey. Sounds to me like a program, it's stealing priority; my friend think it is Windows Update.
About 8 hours before this activity slow/hanging (before I leave for work), it was working fine, but I noticed
localized only in Google maps as suspended similar activity.* What I've done so far: *.
-back up important files on my external
-run process Explorer and verified using CPU, RAM and i/o to find nothing extraordinary (low cpu, use of the normal RAM, low use of e/s)
-made a virus using Microsoft Security Essentials scanI'm at a loss as to what I can do at this point; It is unbearably slow... I can't use internet at least that I'm in the safe
mode, that is, I can't use my video or audio devices... =)
Funny is the 3 year warranty I got away it just expired, so if it's a failing hard drive, Future Shop has done a good job of prediction of the obsolescence... jerks.Hi mate
It of difficult to say what might cause this exactly.
I searched on similar questions on Microsoft Knowledge base page and found this interesting doc:
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/952272
It has exactly the same symptom described: the request could not be performed because of an i/o device error (0x8007045D)It s required to run the command Chkdsk X: /R
In this command, x is a placeholder that represents the drive letter of the volume you want to check. So if you want to check the partition or HARD drive then replace X by the letter of the partition or HARD drive.I also recommend to check the HARD drive using 3rd party tool called: Drive Fitness Test.
You can download for free.Run and check the might of HARD drive, it must be replaced.

New Satellite Pro U400-12y is very slow
Just bought Satellite Pro U400-12y with Vista Business pre-installed (1 GB preinstalled memory).
However, the startup is very slow and actually the computer seems to work in a time warp.Any ideas? Is there a fundamental problem?
Yes, I have an idea.
I think that the high amount of background processes affect the performance of laptops.
He should know that the U400 supports many different features and these features are controlled by different applications. If you want you can start the msconfig and disable some unnecessary and unimportant process. Take a look in the Startup tab.
In addition, I recommend to disable and remove the preinstalled software called Tempro.
I did it on my system, and now it runs much faster
