Logon Windows 8.1 pin

When the "PIN" connection is activated on Windows 8.1 (on a touchscreen Dell device come 8 Pro):

The numeric keypad to enter the PIN code is a normal block of 10 digits, with the button in the corner at the bottom right is a return back/clear key.

My question is, what does the button in the bottom left?  Usually, it looks like a small square radiant, but when you press on, it becomes just a little square.  It does not seem to affect the numeric keypad.

It allows you to 'hide' buttons that you press.  When not 'hidden', the button you press on appears above your finger so you can check that you enter the letters you want to type.  When the letters are 'hidden', there is no visual feedback the letters you type.  In this way, if someone is looking over your shoulder, it is more difficult for them to watch what you type your password.

  • I pinned tabs but they don't open when I open a new window? Permenantly pinned tabs that open when you open the browser is something that is so simple and usefu

It should not necessarily be a "pin", but I wonder how to keep one eye permanently there everytime I open a new browser, as they appear.

Pinned tabs are related to a specific window and you can have a different game in each window.
You have to re-create the tabs pinned, if you want in a new window, possibly by the bookmarks in a folder (to bookmark all tabs) or set them as many home pages (a new window opens with the home pages).
Maybe there is an extension that allows to open newly opened tabs pinned in windows, so you can search the Addons site.

  • I use windows 7. Pinned tabs disappear after a reboot. Privacy for firefox setting will be set to remember history. What could be wrong?

I rebooted my tabs pin several times. They disappear just to restart. Any help would be appreciated.

In case you use "clear history of Firefox closing:

    • do not erase browsing history

Note that compensation "Preferences of Site" clears all exceptions for cookies, images, windows pop up, installation of software and passwords.

(PIN) App tabs and groups of tabs (Panorama) are stored in session data in the sessionstore.js file in the Firefox profile folder.

If you use a software like CCleaner cleaning then check the settings in the Firefox application.

  • How to get Windows Explorer to pin to the taskbar

    Problem:

When I right click on Windows Explorer to get pinned and there is no element entrance does forr it pin to the taskbar OR the StartMenu , like most of the other applications in the my system.

I was able to do on my system to my office, so I know that this is possible.  I got it made the pinned the system now have the problem, that is up to the Microsoft has eliminated the last fixes on Saturday 21 September 12 game that wacked my entire task bar, bar side and scrogged many other aspects of my system!

I really hope that they actually only has finally fixed the leak of security IE forever with this patch as they promised and not just Fubar-ing of many systems to give the appearance of shutter makes the run with more than one finger! (but that too can depend on which finger gets referenced as I can think that a my system seems to have understood).

That being said, let's start by skipping the usual diatribe of suggestions of neophytes who Parrot just what is on both boards, blogs and other forums with what I remember, try to address my situation:

    • I tried to drag links "Windows Explorer" and shortened to Windows Explorer to get the fallen on the toolbar.  No go!
    • I tried all the suggestions of registry to Windows Explorer PIN to the taskbar. No go!
    • I searched the registry for any key with PIN or NOPIN on their behalf and found Nothing. Although the PIN search revealed several keys and values with pin drowned in (e.g.ping stri"," myPINing "", Snapine","OfficeVBAHelpinetlHiddenIntl_1033", nausea etc. to height of 3114 hits ad).

But know the FUBAR occurred, does anyone have the best ideas on how to fix the problem with Windows Explorer so that I can once again pin it to my task bar and maybe my StartMenu too?

Use search programs and files "windows explorer". When you right click on the link that there it will give you options to pin the taskbar icon or the start menu.

  • Icons of Windows 7 move, pinned programs are not pinned

About 2 weeks ago I started noticing that one of my icons in the top right of my screen began to move out of place on the next line. It was strange, but intermittent and relatively easy to put back in place. I don't think really much. Since then, the problem has worsened exponentially.

I have my icons arranged in three columns on my desk to sort between the programs and files for my company, photos and programs on a daily basis, and then the handful of games I have on this machine. Now, every time I start windows, or shut down a program, icons are scattered (literally scattered) around the screen. They all seem to go to the same place every time, but it's not as if it is locked to grid or something like that: they have all moved to weird stains on the screen with random amounts of space between them.

I unchecked and disabled all the theme or the definition who that would alter. I saved my layout a dozen times, but Windows will not be reset only when I restore it, rather to paste everything in the upper left, very similar to Windows 2000 used (which makes me wonder if the feature 'save default layout' still works). I did a post here that led me to two parts of 3rd party software, nor around who did not something beyond trying to install bloatware on my system.

Today, the real kicker appeared that all my pinned programs have been released. Now, when I have something to pin to the taskbar (or), he went after a reboot. I scanned with the tool of Microsoft Malware, Malwarebytes, SuperAnti-Spyware and Avast, which none can find nothing.

This would coincide with an update of windows, and I hear people talking about this as a problem intermittent, but not as severe as mine. I'd appreciate any help on this one. Thanks in advance!

    Hi Maklarr,

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

I can understand the inconvenience you encounter and would certainly help you in the right direction to solve the problem. However, I would like you to answer the following questions in order to limit the question and provide you with better assistance.

    1. You did it of any significant changes to the system before this problem?
    2. Did you put your desktop in order to 'Icons snap to grid' before this problem?

To diagnose the problem, I suggest you to set the icons to arrange in a grid and check if the number is reproduced. If the problem persists, check for any service of third-party software that might be the cause of the problem. See the following to:

    Method 1:

    (a) right click in the empty space on the desktop.

    (b) select display.

    (c) click on the icons to align it on the grid.

    (d) restart the system and check with the question.

If the problem persists, clean booting the system as shown below.

    Method 2:

Put your system to the clean boot state helps determine if third-party applications or startup items are causing the problem. You must follow the steps in the article mentioned below to perform a clean boot.
How to perform a clean boot in Windows

Note: See "how to reset the computer to start normally after a boot minimum troubleshooting" to prepare the computer to start as usual after a repair.

Hope this information is useful. Let us know if you need more help, we will be happy to help you.

  • Windows 7 > deliver pinning of Excel 2007 files

    Hello

I recently had problems with MS Excel 2007 (business) so I uninstalled manually using these instructions http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928218 it wouldn't work through Panel control etc.

I managed to reinstall and the old problems have stopped working bar one of them; I have Excel pinned to the task (is it called that?) bar and then I usued to have all my important excel files pinned to one... now they aren't there AND it does not show the recent docs either!

What happens wrong here please... it's very frustrating especially since I spent 2 hours to uninstall manually and had problems before!

    Your help would be appreciated.

    Mischa

We can probably get this resolved by resetting jump lists.  This will reset all to be empty, but afterwards, you should be able to pin probably once again.  Here's how:

1 - Copy this entire following line:

    %AppData%\Microsoft\Windows\Recent\AutomaticDestinations

2 - Click Start, and then paste it into the search box and press ENTER.

    3. delete all files in this folder.  As a practice, just send in your bin so that you can restore if you need to.

    4. try pinning on a new element.
