Look at a backup NT

Hoping someone can advise please.

I downloaded on my computer (running vista) backup my XP computer - it shows like a BKF file, but I can't seem to open to view saved documents.

I downloaded the NT backup program to make it to the computer... but I really need to see people just know it's there.

Thanks in advance.

I don't know why you would think that your files will be in NTUSER. DAT, they will not be inside this file. What is inside this file is the settings for an individual user, e.g. wallpaper, screensaver etc. details (as much).

If you want to see where your data files are, for example Word documents, photos, music etc, then in the bkf file that they will (probably) be somewhere under the path of the folder

C:\Documents and Settings\\My Documents

For example, if I'm logged XP as "in the sticks", the path would be

C:\Documents and Settings\in Documents of the sticks\My

This is the default path to store information in XP. Under My Documents, you can see my pictures, my music and all of the subfolders that you created and logged on to XP. Some people store information on their desktop (which I wouldn't recommend) - If you don't have the path would be

C:\Documents and settings\\Desktop

If you need to look at the Favorites path would be

C:\Documents and settings\\Favorites

If you've stored the information in other places, you will need to explore the contents of the bkf file to see where that might be.

    General Photoshop discussion !

I use Windows, and we need to make visible hidden files and folders in order to see the App data access path.  OSX has a similar feature?  If you have spent the hidden files and folders things, remember what I said about the registration of CC2015 the path of the CC2014 file.  That one made me as well, but I worked it out by asking Photoshop to load new brushes and checked the place he was looking for.

  • Help!  I looked at my files "backup", and now ALL my pictures are more 'related' to Lightroom.

I thought I was missing some files, so I looked at my backup files.  I received a 'warning' that Lightroom would restart and display my backup files.  I have NOT received any warning, that there is NO GOING BACK!  I've tried everything.  I can't add a link to ONE of my pictures.  Well, I just did an and he told me all the other photos in the folder have been corrupted and Lightroom would not be able to edit (and no, it wasn't an exported .jpeg file).  Fortunately, I am not concerned about this issue, that's why I tested it.  I have moved all my pictures from my C drive on my D drive because for some reason strange on this computer, my D drive is 5 times bigger and I ran out of room.  When I did, I was able to recreate a link to all the photos.  Unfortunately, it didn't keep my records, he has them just relinked in chronological order.  I can deal with, even if he did find much more difficult shots, but I wasn't about to try to rename one of them and have to recreate a link to the new.

Now, I can't repeat an any of them because it appears in Lightroom that all photos are back on the C drive and as a result, the new pictures that I placed on the D drive aren't there, and nothing is re-issued, period, not even those who was originally on my C drive!

I have never been so aggravated in my life.  I you LOVE features of Lightroom.  I have version 2.3.  When I search on the help online, all I get is how the photos are in some place they have been saved, but they are linked, etc..  I already know that part.  I seriously wish that I had NEVER looked at my backup files.  I don't think I'll bother backing up stuff more because apparently looking at the backup mess up everything.

I fully expected that I would be able to go back, choose my folders on my D drive and have all my current pictures available.  Unfortunately, not.

My user name should be FREAKED OUT!

Great, now go open recent (in the folder) and open the catalog from the other and see if you get them all connected.

  • Problem of backup drive Seagate

I have an iMac that fails to perform backups time machine, constantly in error-36 on several files in the journal and then ending by mistake-11. I got around this by using Data Rescue IV to copy all the contents of the disc to 2 TB backup drive Seagate Plus. During this process, I got a warning of Data Rescue saying me that slow read access has been detected from the internal drive and it was a sign of a failing drive. The time estimates would go in all directions, ranging from a few hours, thousands of days! Finally, after about a day, the backup was complete. However, when I tried to use this disk to restore a backup, the program "restore from backup" in the recovery partition was told that no backup not found on the disk. I even tried to rename and add folders so that the path of the folder on the Seagate drive looked like this: /Backups.backupdb/Computer name of the name/2016-06-18-214653/Disk Partition. Remember that I did not use time machine to back this up, I arranged everything simply the folder saved in other folders so that the path can trick the computer into thinking it as a backup in time real-machine, but it did not work. Is there a way I can use this Rescue IV data backup to restore the computer by using the recovery (command-R on startup) partition?

There are several possible reasons for the mistakes of TM backup that you met. They could be resolved by trying a different port on your iMac, disabling potentially conflicting software (garbage "anti-virus" useless example), using disk utility to 'fix' the volume of the source, reinstall OS X (assuming that it has become corrupted for some reason, the common result of 'cleaning up' apps) and other possible, although perhaps temporary solutions. If you are motivated to explore these options you can still.

The hierarchy of the Time Machine backup volume file is likely to be very different from that created by Seagate software, so I doubt it. The RP provides an option to restore from a Time Machine backup, and you will not be able to fool it by restoring a backup created by something else.

You are much more likely to succeed by copying the files manually backup volume, after having replaced the faulty internal drive with a new one. If Seagate program, all the files should be present, you just have to find them.

In the absence of other options, I would try to create a backup, redundant or "clone" of the source volume defective before doing something more. At the present time, you work with a reliable likely source of defective with no recognized backup of it.

You can't look "inside" a backup. Just use iTunes to sync with your iPhone, then you'll see a separate category for voice memos in the sidebar.

  • Verification of Microsoft Backup does not have

I have used the backup in the tools system for many years and have
never had any problems. But in my last two backups, both
Audit process have failed, and under the "backup status", he said
"FAILED". In the backup report, there were a couple of files that
could not be back with the error "it is either corrupt or not.
    existed"and has been omitted.

I looked at the backup file and it seems to have the total size of the
backup like I have in the past. And when I clicked it, the
Restore Backup Wizard came. Could someone please tell me what might
be problems. Corrupted files that show have been in my player
for a long time and have not changed at all. So I know that they have been
not corrupted and does not exist. And the backup file I have, it's a good
that or it could not be used to restore if my drive failed?

    Comments/suggestions are appreciated.

FYI, I'm using Windows XP SP3.

    Thank you.

It might be that backup just had problems of access to the file for some reason any.  Maybe a process has an exclusive open about it.  You can try to start safe mode (press F8 at startup) and make your backup in Safe Mode.  This prevents unnecessary processes that could interfere with the backup of the race.

  • Backup function does not?

Backup function does not. The program runs and ends with an error message, access is denied. (0x80070005). Looks like a backup has been completed. I tried another external hard drive as a destination and got the same result. Help!

    Hello

    · You are the administrator of the computer?

Step 1: Make sure that you are connected to the computer as an administrator. If you are not then you will need administrator to help you in the backup.

Step 2: Temporarily disable the antivirus and check if the problem persists. If no problem occurs, then you need to firewall settings in the security software.

Note: Check that you activate your anti-virus protection on the computer back after you complete these steps. It is not recommended to disable these settings on the computer. It's just to solve the problem.

  • Something the occupation of space on my backup drive

I have a Seagate 250 gig external backup drive.  Once a week I backup data files with the Windows backup of my hard drive on this disk.

When I look at the backup drive in the right Windows Explorer pane or in a utility graph in autonomous areas, only about 57 GB of that drive shows as being used.  (In Solution Explorer, the hidden files are set to display).

Yet when I look in properties, Camembert indicates that 207 concerts are used and only 43 concerts are free.  I had this situation for a short time after I started my backups.  It seems that something is eating about 150 GB of space on my hard drive and I can't.  I see that there are 14 GB to $RECYCLE. BIN but that is not enough to explain the missing 150 GB.  Any thoughts?

Yes, Vista will create a new folder $recycle.bin if you delete it. The Vista Forums tutorial gives more details. You may not even need to reboot, just refresh the desktop.

The Recycle folder was the trash in XP and earlier systems. So, have you used this car with the two systems? If you no longer use XP, I don't think that there will be no harm to remove it. I'll think about it and see if something happens.

  • Backup DR with vRanger connection devices

Having Dr. devices dealing with VM backups on-site, but one of the questions that arise is the time of the backup. It takes about 8 hours to backup the SQL files every night. Just to let you know its all upwards in a virtual machine environment.

Can incorporating vRanger of connection or AppAssure with DR unit affect backup performance?

Is there a whitepaper on this?

    Thank you!

    Hi Geeka,
Depending on how you are currently using the device DR with vRanger connection, your current solution could be improved.

If you are simply using the DR as a CIFS share there is another way.

vRanger connection also supports the Dell RDA technology, which can provide a level of deduplication side source.

Consider implementing vRanger connection Virtual appliances (one per host), or one per cluster, your choice, the virtual devices include technology of the GDR.

Configure the virtual machine backups to cross Virtual Appliances and target (GDR/RDS) container on the Dominican Republic.

The backup will be a snapshot of the virtual machine, but use hot add technology to fix the disks to the virtual appliance, data are then broadcast through the virtual appliance to the GDR DR container. At the point where the data leaves the appliance virtual it's pattern matched with data stored on the Dominican Republic. All blocks that match are not sent.

This reduces network traffic and allows backups to do more.

If you want to add the technology to the protection of SQL as an agent-based application, then take a look at NetVault Backup, it will be directly interfacing with SQL via VDI or VSS, providing full, incremental and differential backups. It's agents also include the GDR technology and can provide source de-duplication to a DR GDR container.

AppAssure also has an agent and can protect the content of the full virtual machine, including the SQL instance, but it will require its own server and storage and does not directly allow the DR unit to store the initial backup data. It can create Archives of data sets that can be moved from AppAssure on the good DR database server, but it's more for long-term storage.

    I hope this helps.

    See you soon,.
    Adrian.

  • Backup Dell or backup Windows 7

Just got my new Studio 15. Looks like two backup systems included: Dell local backup and Windows 7 backup and restore.  It looks like both will create images for backup and recovery of data files.  Which should I use? And why are there at - it a Dell program to do this if Windows already has the capability?

Thanks for any help that anyone can provide.

You need both. The local backup of Dell to create recovery discs. Then use Windows backup to back up your files on EXTERNAL media. Do not use the D partition on the boot drive. You need a USB key or external hard drive for backups. Windows you will use the recovery partition D but don't use it for anything. Windows is not that the D drive is not a player at all. Read the instructions to create discs here.

Issue of OP - backup and restore

    Hello Forum,

Today, I was looking for the backup image, it seems there is no picture, as you can see on the screenshot attached No.1 he says there are no backups saved to this location, so I clicked on "select another backup...". "but nothing has been found as you can see on the screenshot No. 2, but it is still there on this disc 'G' as selected on the screen n ° 3.

  • Search in the win7 backup files

I see that Win7 Backup allows the search for file and folder names, but says nothing about the search in the saved files.

    Is this possible?

It is a crucial issue for users of MS Win7 Backup. Please provide a response.

I used Agent Ransack with great success (except in the trash) to find the files affected by the search for key words. AR leans folder, file name and the text inside.

I'm afraid I won't be able to successfully locate a missing file/file containing the info I'm looking, in the backup files.

    -Nino

Go to the backup program, tell it to restore a file, and then you get a search function.

You can not search the actual compressed backup files with another utility like Ransack.  Files are grouped, compressed and indexed for efficient backup storage.  If you want to search, use search integrated in the backup program.

  • Backup and restore do not respond

    Hello

I have Windows 7 Professional installed on a Dell laptop computer Vostro (work computer).  We use windows backup backup each laptop, and she recorded this info on our Windows Server 2008.  I had him daily backup, and it had worked well for a long time.  Two months ago it suddenly stopped working.  I went to start the backup manually - through the restore backup dialog &.  I would like to click on the button to say "save now" and the circular icon timer would indicate it was working/thinking for a second, then nothing would happen.  More information - I do not have and have never had Acronis True Image, which is the common cause of this problem based on my research.  I can set up the parameters of the backup-there just never starts the program.  In addition, all the world backups in my office work very well.

So I troubleshoot-made it for a while, and that's what I've done so far:

I checked services - they are on

I looked at the logs for Windows backup - the last entry says he had run February 19, no error and nothing since then.

I have reset the backup & restore via a registry change - problem persists

I tried to do a system restore, but I did not restore from February points (the question started February 19th)

I uninstalled all the programs installed around this date (just google reader & Skype, but I thought at least I could exclude)

    I've done countless restarts

I tried to do a repair of the boot in the boot menu (F8) - once again, nothing.

I don't know what else to try at this point.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you

    Erica

After putting together the newspaper of errors, I looked at Windows backup box in the Task Scheduler, and somehow, he had set up for Windows Vista & Windows Server 2008 instead of Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008.  I changed it to be configured for Windows 7, etc, right click on the name to run now, and it worked!  So I think I am well now.  Thanks :)

  • I/o device error when you run the backup

I'm trying to run a backup of a Dell Inspiron with Windows 7 on a Toshiba 500 G hard drive.  When I start the backup everything looks good, the backup is running.  He has worked for several hours and then he said: the backup could not be completed.  When I check on 'additional information' it says there is a "device i/o error." there only are data downloaded to disk, but I do not have what has been saved.  The drive is new and I checked all the connections.  Any thoughts?

We have to run a disk check to solve this problem, to do a disc check follow the steps below:

    1. Click Start, type cmd in the start search box, right-click cmd.exe in the list programs and then click Run as administrator.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click on continue.

    2. at a command prompt, type the following command and press ENTER:

    CHKDSK X: /R

Note: In this command, x is a placeholder that represents the drive letter of the volume you want to check.

    3. press y when you are prompted to check the drive the next time the system restarts.

    4. close all applications and restart the computer.

Note: When you restart, Windows checks the drive for errors, and then Windows starts.

    5. after the computer restarts, repeat steps 1 through 4 for the other volume and try the backup operation again.
