Loose DC Jack in a Qosmio F25

Hi all, my Qosmio began to move back and forth between the battery and AC ankle a few nights ago. The next morning, he must have put in battery voltage, but I have not noticed and walked out my battery alone. Computer hibernated and I could not put in operation since.

Technicians the repair company to tell me "DC-in" connector must be soldered to the motherboard (connector was moving inside the boxes a lot lately) and I shouldn't open a laptop and try to do it myself. This is because, they say, the connector is so close to the track. I used to work on the courage of computers in office/towers, but I have to admit, I'm not a very good welder. With short questioning the same technicians have made only half a dozen of these type repairs themselves. If they fry the motherboard, no promises to replace.

Called Circuit City where I bought the computer 2 years ago, and their "fire dogs" (similar to the Geek Squad here in the United States) agree with the diagnosis, but insisted the repairs need to be done in the clean room.

"Fire dogs" offered recover my files from my hard drive to 100 U.S. dollars. I easily found the hard drive access panel, bought $10 adapter that transforms my laptop hard drive internal external one I plugged on the desk at work. Sprayed on that one. :)

Once I saw the hair o'dust and pet a lot in the hard drive Panel and memory. I have 3 dogs, 3 cats and a bird. I really didn't thing that a cleanroom will make much difference right now.

Agreed I wanted to look inside myself DC-in connector. I know how to do to justify myself. Having trouble getting to the guts.

There is a point of resistance. Does anyone know if it has a screw more under memory cards? (There was one under the hard drive.)

Technicians them can do welding for about $400 US with no guarantee that my motherboard will work when they are done. "Fire dogs" cannot repair the computer themselves. They must send to the Toshiba service center and they don't give me an estimate. Also scared that I'll never again see my precious Qosmio.

I would greatly appreciate advice, diagrams etc.  :)

Malinda, the prolific

Hello

Unfortunately I can't help you with patterns or something useful information how you can disassemble your machine correctly.

The only thing I would say is, if you have no guarantee so try to solder your ca.

I had the same prob. on my Satellite 2430 and it worked fine, nothing is broken except that DC - IN, so feel free to try.
What choice do you have?

Welcome them

Someone replace the motherboard of your laptop?
Sometime, a Toshiba system has had the system board replaced, it may become impossible to image the system using the recovery CD.

The DMI string contains the model number of the system. When you use a recovery CD to recreate the image on a system, the installation process examines the DMI string and compares this string to the image being restored to ensure that the right image is applied to the correct machine.

If the DMI string and the label on the image n t game, a bad machine or bad CD message will appear.

    Hello

Just a small comment on this: I'm not 100% sure, but AFAIK after Qosmioplayer installation you need to install the operating system. It is not possible to install Qosmioplayer later.

  • Qosmio F25 is burning with AC power

    Hello
I have a problem with my qosmio when I work with my laptop on the mode of power supply ac has a cpu temp on 70Celsius mode energy saving is norm
When I work with the battery mode, the cpu temperature is 50celsius in normal operation the adapter is hot it is normal

    Sorry for my bad English

Hi Sven (I wonder if you can play the guitar like jimi the real one ;))

OK now your question: Don t worry, everything is ok.

If the laptop is connected to the power adapter the saver of energy uses the normal power mode and all devices such as CPU, GPU run with maximum performance and do not save the power. (No energy saving = best = higher temperature performance)

Qosmio notebooks are really powerful. This unit is not true portable but a table desktop PC. You know, you can compare the performance of these laptops with desktop PC and its nothing unusual if these units produce more heat as for example a Satellite M40, which is much lower.

    Everything is ok

  • Qosmio F25 - lost BIOS PASSWORD

    Hello

Kid of this friend was messing around with the BIOS, and now he forgot the passwd of admin he setup for his mom's laptop. She is a very good friend of mine, and after doing some research on the Internet I discovered that there is a way to get a "response code", after that he entered, can I reset the password for it.

Some people (I guess than the ex-toshiba technicians) are trying to charge $85 or more to send a response code, but I think it's a scam, because it can happen to anyone and it should be a service that Toshiba should be willing to give to the rightful owners.

in any case, I entered this forum hoping to learn how to talk to a Toshiba technician who could have the "generation of the response program" and who is willing to help this family that does not have the money to pay for their misdeeds.

In case you can help us, I left the laptop turned on with the following questions of challenge to the screen, maybe you guys can send me the response Code. We will appreciate it very much!

    SERIAL NUMBER: 65094000HBN
    CHALLENGE CODE: C0QAJ-N4B33-8A1M3-VA7P1-T8RCY
    Response code:?

    Thank you.

    Hello

Unfortunately, all this doesn t work on your way of thinking, and nobody here can help you with that.
It doesn t work with a response-generating program. Only the Toshiba authorized service provider can send the request for this response code.
The response code will be given from the Toshiba service headquarters. It is a procedure of special type.

Toshiba must protect customers, assets and the data saved to disk, so you can't wait for someone to help you with this kind of things in a public forum.

Sorry but only registered buddy can help you with this.

  • Helps the headphone jack!

    Welcome.

So about 4-5 months ago, I bought a brand new HP Pavilion PC g6.
A few months later (2-3) I started to have problems with the sound. Whenever I plugged the headphones, the sound would not come to her. First of all, I thought it was the helmet that I was using. It turns out that it wasn't. Then I thought it was something with audio players or anything else. (Control Panel-> hardware and sound-> manage audio devices). It turns out that it wasn't.

The problem started as my helmet is sound but cut wide in some places. I have to play with the headphone jack and move it a bit to get the sound. At that time, portable headphone plug was already loose. Then, for about 5-10 minutes, something really strange happened. His was no more. I couldn't not all the sounds if it was for my headphones or speakers of my laptop.

After about 10 minutes, the sound is back after a reboot. However, the sound was weird and glitch. I mean, is that whenever I plug in the headphones, 55% of the sound would come through them, but the other 45% would come out of my laptop speakerks.
Yet once again, I thought it was the helmet, but no. Even with multiple changes of helmet and try them on different computers, the headphones were great. I started thinking that it was the helmet being loose which caused all these problems. I started to look for solutions. I came across a post of aid for the same issue: being loose headphone jack.
Most of them said that if the helmet was not directly related to the motherboard, that the issue would be fixed easly.

    My question is:
    (1) how will I know if the headset is connected to the motherboard directly?
    (2) how can I fix the problem if;
    (a) it is directly connected.

    (b) if it is not connected to it directly.
    (3) the headphone plug is loose have EVERYTHING link to my sound works does not correctly.

Thank you and more information will be provided on request.

Additional information: I know that HP laptop computers have a 1 year warranty, however, how do I check for mine?

    Hi kamel.

    1. with the hardware problems, it is best to contact support for your options before going inside the laptop.

    2. If you notice that you are not covered by your phones warranty, if you provide me with your laptop model number, I'll see if there is a maintenance and service guide. (another workaround of the guarantee is to get a USB headset connected)

< How can I find my laptop model number >: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00033108

    3. Yes, he seems to have everything to do with the question.

  • How can I view and connect my PS2 (play station) on Qosmio LCD?

    Hello

I bought a Qosmio F25 and I tried to connect my PS2 to view it on the LCD screen. I connected the PS2 for the Composite video cable and I tried all channels on television but did not display channel?

I did the right thing, or miss me something?

(P.S. I tried to treat the PS as a box and tried to use the media center to configure and analyze for the channel but apparently sandbox model must be inserted and that's where I stopped)

    Appreciate your quick support

    Thank you!

You have installed on your machine Qosmioplayer?
Have you tried to scan all channels on Qosmioplayer?

The TV or VCR signal is the same as on PS2. Admittedly somehow.

  • MS A30 - battery charging when I plug in the power cable

    Hello

I'm having some problems with (I think) on my A30 power management utility. When I am running on battery power and I plug in the power cable, the battery continues to discharge even if the laptop 'knows' that it runs on the power grid (ie the utility says "current generator: alternating current.") "Online, discharges: 82%. Strangely, if I put the laptop in mode 'sleep', then resume, she goes back to normal (i.e. working on current alternative, the battery charges).

It is true, I think that this began after I installed "PC Pitstop optimize Scan" www.pcpitstop.com (please, not conferences - I used a couple of their public services before and they were very good, so I thought it would be too much), so I guess it's some sort of configuration problem, but I have no idea where to go from here. I went through all the options on the power management utility, but they all look sensitive. Any ideas (other than do not install software stupid, doubtful)?

    Kenny

    Hi Kenny,

I experienced this behavior on my A30 where the system says it works on current alternative, but still drains the battery and stops eventually.

In my case the problem has proved to be a loose DC Jack that sometimes cuts off contact with the socket on the back of the laptop. This momentary loss of power DC seems to provoke the power management utility switch to battery power, even though the DC power is restored. The only way out of this situation is to Hibernate / restarting the laptop.

I think that it is a problem with the power supply subsystem in the laptop that does not react properly when it encounters a momentary loss of DC. Then the Toshiba power management utility is no longer responds correctly and switches to the battery power.

My only solution to this was to anchor the DC cable to the back of my A30 so that there is now no chance of the plug DC moving in its socket. This has proved to be very effective for my A30 and I've had no recurrence of the problem.

  • G10 - internal speakers do not disconnect

When I use the headphone jack on my Qosmio G10 with an S/PDIF optical (Toslink) cable, the internal speakers are not disabled, although the manual (page 2-4) indicates they should.
They are disabled when headphones are used.
Is my laptop at fault or the user guide?

    Hello Jimac

You are absolutely right. S manual said that the internal speakers will be disabled automatically and this information is just. Audio contains a small switch that turn off the internal speakers if the audio input is in use.

I guess this little switch is defective. Unfortunately it can be fixed on your own. Just service partner can check correctly. I'm sure that the warranty is still valid. Call them and explain the problem.

    Good bye

  • Loose on Satellite P100-240 DC-In Jack

I just noticed that my new Toshiba P100-240 laptoop has quite a 'loose' DC in socket - is not to lose in making decision, but the actual shooting itself.

While she viewed etc and I don't miss the power or anything, I was wondering if this is normal, or if the plug must be rigid without movement.

P100-240 users can let me know if their is the same?

    Post edited by: 2002standardmat

    Hello

I put t know if this appears on another unit P100, but something similar happens on my laptop's brother.
The power jack on the laptop was lost.
It was a new laptop so I was recommended to contact the service.
The technician said that the screw is just a little loose and therefore the vacillee DC Jack.

Possibly it of identical on your laptop, but I think that it s not terrible.

  • A few questions on Qosmio G30-175

I am very satisfied of this laptop who purchased at a reduced price when upgraded all hard drives (2 x 80 GB is plenty for me).

    A few questions.

    1. the antenna (not the SCART) seems to be a little loose at the back. I had not noticed this before, has it become loose or is it some slack to allow easy access?

2 with the system restore. Something I used to do often on my old satellite. It's easy with the G30 i.e ghosts in quite complete set?

    3. what tips are there for this particular model on Vista? Ive read on the problems of raid and so on for other people, I was wondering if someone had done and shares their experience

Sorry for the many questions, but I have lurked long enough! ;)

    AHS

    (1) has not noticed any loose on the antenna to the computer plug phone back.
But in my opinion if it has no negative influence on the quality of TV or picture then you can life with that. If this is not the case, make a call to the technician. He should take a look at this Jack.

    (2) the Windows XP System Restore tool is a useful application if you want to restore the starting point of you OS. I use it several times

    (3) Please check this forum category. You will find a few discussions on Vista and RAID on the Qosmio laptop

  • Portege R100 - defective headphone jack

Headphone 3.5 mm on my R100 hole seems to be defective (I tried it with another helmet and with them the sound is distorted unless I managed to get the plug in the right position).

I will provide Toshiba on this subject shortly, but I was just wondering if anyone could tell me if this component replacement is a simple procedure?

    Thank you very much.

    Hi Dan,.

The headphone jack is a pretty basic device that can usually be bought quite cheaply from most electrical spare outlets. The real problem is to find a repairman that will repair to the component level. Nowadays, the trend is to replace a whole PCB rather than simply weld on a new component.

According your description of the problem as it sounds as if we spring metal tags is either loose or bent and therefore does not sufficiently wityh contact the helmet when it is inserted.

If your laptop is still under warranty, then it should be replaced at no charge.

If your warranty has expired, it may be useful to check for repairers of local PC that quote ' component-level) repair services.

    Good luck
