• Duration of layer - import a PSD comp

  I tried to understand this one for awhile now.

  Under previous versions of AE, we manually set a period of importation on a model of .psd.
  Now in CS5, it's even option not appear!

  AE remembers the length of the publication that you created. If you want a computer that's 30 seconds use Cmnd/Ctrl + N to open, start a new publication, and set the length of the model at 30 seconds. Now import your PSD as composition and the comp will be 30 seconds. If your layers of images are not the same length that the composition so be sure that you have properly defined preferences. Here is how I have mine put in place:

  

  The other thing to check is to make sure that you do not have Photoshop sequence verified. If you have files named ImageName1.psd and ImageName2.psd in the same folder the import dialog will automatically check Photoshop sequence and it will become your video film made up of only 2 images.

  You should also, at any time, be able to define the length of the composition and to expand the layers to the total length of the project. The maximum length of an AE composition is 323676 frames which is 3 hours on 29.97 FPS (NTSC standard). The maximum frame rate is 99 fps. I hope this clears up things.

  This happens usually when your source files are

  The music file is protected.  This is why you cannot import into MovieMaker.  The second proposed link Chris explains the files protected by DRM.

• Window Movie Maker will import my .mpg file, but will not play audio.

  I used Windows Movie Maker 2.6, Vista and Live for many years and I've always been able to convert my files to .wmv with ease. My old computer recently crashed and I reinstalled the program and codec I had on my new machine.

  A week ago, I was import and conversion of some files to .mpg without problem what-so-ever, but when I import my .mpg files now, I receive one of the following scenarios:
  (1) ".mpg is an empty file." (2.6)
  (2) the video works fine, but there is no audio data. Yet, if I play in Windows Media Player or any other program, I get the audio without problem. (Vista and Live)
  (3) I also run Magix Movie Edit Pro 15, but when it exports to .wmv, the video is distorted / restless (even with the anti-flicker filter on).

  I have uninstalled and reinstalled my codecs several times, went to the compatibility of the Menus and tried to post the video to see if the audio could have a defect in playback of the program, but without success.

  Yes, I went straight from my card. I always did it that way. Not until the upgrade did I start having issues. I ended up having to download hard disk, rename and then import it. Quite unfortunate that they changed this in the upgrade, it was nice not having to move in all directions and could go straight to LR. Thank you very much for the help!
