Lost all libraries in Windows Media Player

I had a very serious fight with a browser hijacker. I had great support from Microsoft to get results in the race, but in the process lost all my music from Windows Media Player libraries. I know that they are still in the computer, somewhere, because they went during the time of repair, but came back twice during the process of return to the somewhat operational. Is it possible to search for music files? I don't know if I should remove the player and download it somewhere (?) or go to another player or what. Some files have been compiled for many years and are not replaceable. I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, always keep up to date, have 4 GB of ram and 800 GB of free space on the HARD drive. I use MS Security Essentials with Malwarebytes and Advanced System Care Pro for maintenance. Is it possible to download a new copy of Media Player. I'm starting to ramble, so if anyone can point me in the right direction, I'd be deeply in your debt!

This seems to be a question of recovery then. No other player will improve the situation, unless the files are accessible. I could cite this entire thread of resettlement, but I think it would be better to mark this as replied and post a new question in the section 'repair and recovery' the Forum... something along the lines of 'Files lost after Browser Hijack' and then briefly detail what happened, what support you have received (and where) and I hope that someone recommends a plan of action to try to recover the lost files.
I'm sorry that a simpler solution is not an option!

Greetings - R

All of a sudden my pictures folders are now all show in Windows Media Player and I can't open each photo in full screen, but only in the video display mode.   When I go to my pictures and choose view as thumbnails, that's fine, but when I click on the individual photo, it shows on the screen no video not in mode full screen and I can't move the photo to the photo without closing the video screen.  How can I get my pictures on Windows Media Player?

This problem has now been resolved.  I went in my computer > tools > Folder Options > file Type, select the type of file and clicked on advanced then > change and changed back to Windows Picture and Fax Viewer in Windows Media Player.  I had the idea of a response posted on this forum about a different issue, but who pointed me in the right direction.

  • Content of albums and libraries in Windows Media Player is removed

Original title: WMP 11 Trashes my Playlists

How can I keep WMP 11 to screw up my playlists?

Several times I had to re-create all my playlist. After they are created, they work for a while.
Then all to blow/unexpectedly when I open WMP 11 (on w/SP3 XP Pro installed) some of my albums disappeared and registration of the library is ransacked everything (songs missing, missing data, mysterious created albums).

Is it one that once I re-created all my playlists that I can save the file somewhere so when WMP 11 trashes them later, I can just remove the information in WMP 11 and copy the file (s) back to basics to avoid re-creating all my playlists over and over?

    Thank you

    Hi Paul,.

    Welcome to the Microsoft community!

The album and lists the library in Windows Media Player are removed.

The problem may occur if the library database is corrupted.

You did changes to the computer before the show?

To overcome the problems which would pose if library database is corrupted, I suggest you follow the mentioned steps:

    Method 1:

    See the site:

You cannot view, add, or delete items in the library of Windows Media Player 11

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/925718

    Method 2:

    See the site:

Solve the problems of Windows Media Player video and other media or library

    http://support.Microsoft.com/mats/windows_media_player_diagnostic/

If you want to reuse the library list and the album, and then copy the contents of the %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Media Player in a different folder, and whenever you want to reuse, just copy in the original folder.

I hope this helps. If the problem persists, or if you have problems of Windows in the future, let us know and we would be happy to help you.

  • All programs open to Windows Media Player!

Tried to download recordings of the Zoom recorder via USB.  Songs downloaded from my music library, but now I can't open the file.  Repetitions of Windows Media Player "problem when downloading" message.  Windows Media Player icon is present on ALL programs.  I can't open any program as they are all "locked" in Windows Media Player.  Help!

    Hi Richard,

If you can access the internet somehow, if you are using Vista, go to http://www.mydigitallife.info/2008/06/22/reset-and-fix-broken-windows-vista-file-ext-and-type-associations-include-exe-com-sys-zip-lnk-folder-drive/ and scroll to the EXE and click or double-click it to run the program to restore EXE file associations. Once done, do the same for LNK entry. That should restore your programs. If you are using Windows 7, go to http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/19449-default-file-type-associations-restore.html . If you are using XP, go to http://www.dougknox.com/xp/file_assoc.htm.

If you are unable to access the internet, download files to a flash drive on a good PC, load the files on the bad PC desktop and run them.  Then restart.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

  • "Windows Media Player 12 - corrupted library.

original title: the woes of 'Windows Media Player 12.

    Good first day and all.

"Windows Media Player 12" (like the one provided with 'Windows 7') - I can't get it to work reliably.  No, this, scratching for 'reliable' read 'at all '...
We have a library of about 35 000 titles, coded as "Windows Media Audio (Lossless)" (so using the Microsoft CODECs).  My sync.s with a Microsoft Office "Windows Mobile 6.1" ' phone ("HTC" "Touch HD" to be precise).
Usage only I do 'Windows Media Player' is to synchronize playlists with my ' phone.  I tend not to listen to anything to help I have much better way to listen to music through a system of his PC and speakers crammed into an LCD monitor.  So "Windows Media Player" is just sitting there in the background.
And some days she who will be quite happy without problems.  However (average) about 3 - 4 times a week, it will crash just randomly - up comes a dialog box saying «Windows Media Player has stopped working...» » ; or upward will come a message on my workspace is corrupted - "Media Player" will apparently remove and recreate automatically for me the next time it starts.
The problem with that is it then everyone loses sync. settings, because it creates a new ID of the library for the new library, so I have to go and re - set my mobile, re-set-up device synchronization settings all the playlists I want to sync, etc etc etc etc and all this only after a wait of several hours for "Windows Media Player" to actually re-created the library first place.
Basically, it's the two 'Windows Media Player' himself and tries to synchronize the music with my mobile device actually completely unnecessary and impracticable.  I'm not fan of Apple products but with Microsoft software using the Microsoft CODECs and synchronization to a mobile operating system of Microsoft being so completely and totally unnecessary I can quite understand why people just go and buy iPod (or iPhone, or...)-at least Apple understand media, including Microsoft obviously doesn't...
So, after only 4 hangs 2 library reconstructions and only today (he is obviously having a particularly bad day today...) I thought that "enough is enough" and sought technical support options.
Now, I'm not about to pay stupid amounts to Microsoft to tell them that their software is broken, and for them, finally, to answer "Yes, and? ...".  So I thought I would look on the Microsoft support site to see what options are available.  Apparently none - despite 'Windows 7' having been out for a while now, all Microsoft support pages only refers to 'Windows Media Player' versions up to version 11.  Come on Microsoft, which is pretty poor, is it not?  I know only for about 2 years 'Windows 7' RTM (Release To Manufacturing), so maybe it's a little early to wait to talk about "Windows Media Player 12" on your sites... support?  (this is sarcasm, in case anyone was wondering...)
So I turn on the forums.  Does anyone else have a great experience (and I think that ~ 35 000 titles probably called 'wide') libraries with "Windows Media Player 12", and if so have you had any problems?  Someone has suggestions for additional diagnostics (for example, try to establish exactly what causes the library should be damaged or for 'Windows Media Player' suddenly to be considered "stopped working")
    ?
What's happening on my machine "Windows 7 Professional (x 64)" with 8 GB of RAM and a lot of free space on the disk, so resources should not be a problem. "  It also happens on all the various other machines that we have here (all running "Windows 7 Professional"; for most of the "x 64").  It never used to happen with all that the latest version of 'Windows Media Player' was to 'XP' (but who had his "own collection of the bad guys to use"ActiveStink"...) so there shouldn't be anything specific library - it certainly seems to be problems specifically with "Windows Media Player 12".
    Any suggestions gratefully received...

Method 1 fixed an issue, I've had where Media player would not start.    If I tried to play an mp3 file I get "Server error".  Bad shooting Diagnostics said my configuration was corrupted and my library was corrupt.  But it didn't fix it. Uninstall and reinstall using Windows features has not solved my problem.   With the FixIt solution, my problem has been resolved.

    Hello

See if you can run the Windows System Restore as follows.

Shut down the PC.  Tap away at f8 that you start the PC to enter the Windows Recovery Console.  Use the arrow keys to select Safe mode and press ENTER.  When it is loaded, click on the Menu start, open the all programs, open accessories, right-click on command prompt and select "run as Administrator".  Type in the following command and press ENTER.

    Rstrui.exe

I hope that this will launch the system restore.  Choose a restore point at least 24 hours before the file association problem and then restore.  When you are finished, Windows will restart normally.

  • Windows media player: how to remove quick double copies?

How can I remove double copies of all content on windows media player?

    Hello

If the problem is with double soundtracks in the Windows Media Player library, this problem occurs because the Windows Media Player library database is corrupted.

To resolve this problem, delete the Windows Media Player database. To do this, follow these steps:

    (a) output Windows Media Player.

    (b) click Start, click run, type %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Media Player, and then click OK.

(c), select all the files in the folder, and then click delete on the file menu.

Note You don't have to remove the folders that are in this folder.

    (d) restart Windows Media Player.

Note Windows Media Player automatically rebuilds the database.

If this does not resolve the problem, disable the Windows Media Player database cache files. To do this, follow these steps:

    (a) output Windows Media Player

    (b) click Start, click run, type % LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft, and then click OK.

    (c) select the Media Player folder, and then click delete on the file menu.

    (d) restart Windows Media Player.

Note Windows Media Player automatically rebuilds the database.
