Lost backup utility from One Care to Windows Live Essentials?

I recently transferred to Windows Live Essentials after my subscription to One Care became unavailable, the transition was easy and I found that Essentials is a great alternative, how ever when I realized that he was not back up installation included in the package, I returned to the accessories of Windows to back up my computer to my external hard drive.

Only to find that the backup facility had been removed when I removed One Care? I searched my machine and looked at restoring to an earlier installation of date back to the utility originally stae, but have had no joy.

Because all my back up to external hard disk refer to One Care (which is now removed) my machine does not recognize the back ups, and because One Care isn't here, too, there is no possibility to restore from the hard drive.

One has the same problem and is there a solution to restore Windows backup utility with doing a full reinstall and lose all my programs, files, data, ect? help urgently needed please!

I had the same problem after removing a care. Found the original disks supplied with the Microsoft XP Home Edition computer, browsed the disk and found the backup utility program it and reinstalled.

However, I think that the problem should not have occurredit the first place. I hope this helps.

  • Security for the family - windows live essentials vs windows 8 (Central reports seems to be lost)

I used Family Safety as a component of Windows Live Essentials on PCs of my sons of Windows 7 and the central of the report and the blocking of Web sites has worked well, however it would never connect any other activity such as playing games or use software in general. Since I've upgraded to Windows 8, I realize that parental control is now integrated into the operating system itself and works very well in a sense that it reports properly time spent on a computer in general and it is then broken down by applications. In addition, it also has the ability not only to restrict web browsing, but also to limit the time spent on a PC. However, the reports that I keep getting seem to be empty, and I can check only parental control so I log on the local computer and then run reports. I would also like to stress that my children and I have same connection to our Windows 8 PCs using our Hotmail accounts however 'the link' with central reporting seems to be lost. We are talking 2 different and separate, versions or what I need to configure something?

    Hello

Family Safety isn't a standard lag time, but the information must be in sync soon once Family Safety detects activity on the computer.

As for your second question, you can use it as a main administrator account. You can remove the old local account, but you have backup your files, and the new master account must have full administrator privileges.

  • Download the digital video from a camcorder using Windows Live Movie Maker

Tried to upload digital videos from a camcorder using Windows Live Movie Maker. To plug my camcorder, a dialog box "import video" appears. However when I name the video, and then click then I get an error message "there is no tape in your digital video device. To continue, insert a tape with recorded video you want to import. I tried eject Strip and re-integration, restart the camcorder and PC without success.

OK, I found my problem. I was getting the same error "There is no cassette" who you were. Here's what fixed it:

    1. Right click on my computer
    2. Properties
    3. Device Manager on the left
    4. Find the firewire card in the list (mine was the only thing listed under IEEE 1394 Bus host controllers)
    5. Make a right click, properties
    6. Driver tab
    7. Update driver
    8. Browse my computer for driver software
    9. Let me pick from a list of device on my computer drivers
    10. Choose one that has '(legacy)' at the end
    11. Click Next until it is done.

After that the error has disappeared and I was able to capture video with success.

    Hope this helps,

    -Brett.

  • Import e-mail messages from Outlook Express in Windows Live Mail?

I have recently moved to a new PC with Win7 and have been using Live Mail - more often with success, I thought with the exception of one or two faults, but I'll probably post a question on those.
On the audit of my old PC today, when I open Oulook Express have been downloaded more than 100 emails that have not appeared in Live Mail - dating back to the time I went.
I tried to export these messages of OE, put it on a USB key and then import in LM LM do not seem to recognize them - these are the dbx files. Suggestions anyone please?
    Thank you in advance.
    Jeff.

If both computers use the same e-mail address, you must do this to get the messages on both.

On both machines: tools | Accounts | Mail | Properties | Advanced - Check: leave a copy of messages on the server.

On a single computer only, make sure to delete messages after X days to satisfy your allocated space that you get from your server.

Note: If you use a CD or a DVD instead of a flash drive, after placing on the new machine you must remove the read-only attribute in the properties before you import.

Try to transfer mail from outlook express to windows live but my display windows live doesn't have a tab "file" on the banner.  Where is he?  I even downloaded the latest version of Windows Live Essentials and didn't get any results in obtaining the 'file' tab is displayed when you click in the upper left corner or in the Live window.  It appars I may be trying to work with a version under Windows Live but can't seem to get the "good".

There is no bar in WLMail 2011 and 2012. What version do you use? The last version to work under XP (this forum) is WLMail 2009 and having a Menu bar with file on it.

If you transfer to a more recent machine...

In Outlook Express, compact you files first.

Click Outlook Express at the top of the the folder tree so no folders are open. Then: File | Work offline (or double-click on work online in the status bar). File | Folder | Compact all folders. Don't touch anything until the compacting is completed.
