Lost coast to stars.

I loaded several series of images in Lightroom in recent weeks, star appreciation and treated high the page files in JPEG format for the download of my SmugMug account... who for years.  Just noticed that several rounds of last week lost their side to star... No change to the process.  The games this week and three weeks ago are fine.  What to do?

(1) how the coast to stars to disappear?

A possibility, in grid mode, enter a 0 (zero) will remove any number of stars of an image of the selection, and if several or all the images have been selected when the 0 value has been entered, stars would be removed from all selected images.

(2) possible solution?

Depending on how often you back up the catalog, you can be able to go back to a time before the stars disappeared by opening a catalog earlier about your backups.

No certainty, but a good guess.

I saved the metadata in the file, and I "xmp writing to the file" checked. I'm dealing with RAW and JPEG, LR OSX 10.7.5 4.2 what is the solution?

The simplest solution is to use a single catalog for all your photos. Then there is no problem now or in the future, to ensure that the two catalogs have the same significance of the notes (and many other benefits as well).

But if you must have multiple catalogs, you can transfer the sides to start like this: select the photos you want in a catalog, then the file-> export of catalog, then go to the catalog and the files 2nd-> import from catalog. This ensures that the meaning of the notes correspond to the time where you do. Evolution of the coast to stars would you repeat the process as often as necessary, because you can't keep these two catalogues in synchronization otherwise. Where the suggestion in paragraph 1

  • Anyone know where the option 'Show duplicates' disappeared? I can't find it in iTunes 12.4 :(

    Just like the topic...

I have a large music library, but unfortunately contains many duplicates that I move slowly deleting. 12.4 installed and the option has disappeared from the view tab.

No idea where it is, or has it been removed?

It has been moved to the file > library menu.

iTunes can create duplicates if the same content is added several times from outside the media folder when it is about to make copies of everything that is added to the library, or is added from an external drive that hosts the press kit that was disconnected during the launch of iTunes.

Official notice of Apple on the duplicates is here: find and remove duplicates in your iTunes library. This is a manual process and article fails to explain some of the potential pitfalls such as the lost coast and membership of playlist, or sometimes the same file can be represented by multiple entries in the library as well as a removal and recycling the file will break all the others.

Use display > show duplicate items (pre iTunes 12.4) or file > library > show duplicate items (post 12.4) then click on Same Album to display exact duplicates because it is normally a selection more useful. You must manually select all but one of each group to remove. Sort the list by Date added can make easier select appropriate tracks, but it works better when executed immediately after the dupes were created.  If you have several entries in iTunes connected to a same file on the disk hard then don't not send to trash.

Use my DeDuper script (Windows only) If you are not sure, do not want to do it by hand, or want to maintain ratings, play counts and playlist membership. See this background thread , this post for detailed instructions and Please take note of the warning to back up your library before deduping.

  • How to select multiple duplicates to remove

I show multiple copies of the same songs in my itunes. It is probably because I have a few external drives with backups attached to my main PC. I want to store the Itunes library, and I know how to remove the duplicates, but can do for simple songs. I want to be able to select all duplicates and remove it at once. How to store the original and to remove some duplicate songs in iTunes on a PC Win7, which took place after iTunes to scan for music during a re - install?

I recently had to format my hard drive and reinstall iTunes 12.3.2.35 on my Win7 PC. As part of the re - install iTunes, I clicked on the button scan for music.  This has created duplicates several of my songs.  I deleted then the duplicate songs from iTunes, but when I went to play a few songs a pop-up said "the song would not be because the original could not be found.  You want to locate? "When I tried to locate the song it is not found, but when I pulled the songs out of the trash they could be found.

How can I keep the original and remove any duplicate songs in iTunes on PC Win7 which took place after iTunes to scan for music during a re - install?

  • Why are there so many duplicates in my music folder?

I went in my iTunes Media/Music folder to find a song corrupt and noticed that most of my music has been duplicated once or several times.  There is the original song and the other with a '1' or '2' some time after the title.  That's happened?  I guess that I should not worry but I have only approximately 3,500 songs in iTunes, but there are now more than 10,000 files in this folder and duplicates are taking up more than 50 GB.  What can I do about it without screwing up iTunes and how do I keep it doesn't happen?  Thank you.

One possible approach is to use the file > add folder to library to add the iTunes Media folder, and then everything that is currently in the press kit and is not already connected to the library will be added to it. You can then deduplication.

iTunes can create duplicates if the same content is added several times from outside the media folder when it is about to make copies of everything that is added to the library, or is added from an external drive that hosts the press kit that was disconnected during the launch of iTunes.

If I import something in iTunes 12.3 from an external HARD drive, as soon as I turn off the computer, or remove the external hard drive, he'll never find the files again, even if the drive designation is the same. Why? How can I prevent this?

This can last indefinitely (e.g. 20 identical files with the explanation marks and the other without if I imported the record 21 times). Of course, only the last import is transferred to the device.

It's not quite like that. If iTunes starts up and has reason to notice that a drive where other titles are supposed to be stored is offline, then it flags those followed with the exclamation point. If subsequently put you at the disposal of the player and import the same tracks it will make fresh entries in the library for them. If you close iTunes and then reopen it, you should find that the two entries of work. The perfect way to work with iTunes is for her to have a content library internal computer discs auto if there is room, or on an external drive connected normally. and in both cases keep a backup on a separate disk. As stated in your feed to repress 'fake' lost files transfer when iTunes is unable to do what he is asked he often fails silently. The answer is to keep your library organized correctly there is no broken links and not duplicates.

When iTunes has multiple entries for the same file there is only one of them on the device. Broken entries are not copied over. It seems that you manually manage the device that takes the most effort than syncing playlists selected from a well-trained library.

Duplicates in iTunes are usually the result of re-import content located outside the media folder where your settings allow for the songs imported to copy in the media folder. iTunes is not keep a record of the external paths, so if you add the same record twice, you get two copies. If you start iTunes with the media on an external drive disconnected, then plug in the hard drive and then add files to iTunes iTunes can contain multiple references to the same files. If the reader has several times different drive letters, or you manually move media autour, then this can lead to broken links.
