Lost disk space * help

I have a Windows 2003 R2 cluster with SAN attached storage.

The drive in question is 300 GB, I use about 90GB but he reports 80GB free space went?

I use this partition for rmans and archivelogs, I have problems with the rmans for the moment so I keep running out of space and fight to keep the archivelogs will.

Its been formatted with oraCFS.

Oracle 9i.

Any help would be great.

Thank you.

OK, so a little update.

I install the new drive and formatted with ocfs.

I ran the ocfscollect.exe utility to verify that the disc is damaged I used the ocfsformat.exe of the configuration partition.

It is true that I looked through the docs on your supplied terms site keys on what I was looking for.

I found the files init with the current settings, you're talking about.

In order to confirm that I could use the "alter" system to be updated on the fly, but I must also update the init file to make the changes permanent. But if I specify "SCOPE = both" it will be updated on the fly and update the init file?

ALTER SYSTEM SET log_archive_dest_1 = 'X:\archive\inst1' SCOPE = BOTH

Seeing how I have several sites I could just run this command again to set the location 2, I guess I can?

I check to see if I'm on the right track and see if you flame me :)

Thank you.

No flame. You did your search insead of whining. :-)

scope = two updates to the running instance and the spfile. Update the spfile makes persistent change, as it will be picked up on the next reboot.

I guess that by "several locations" you are referring to several locations of loc_archive_dest... Log_archive_dest_1, dest_2, des_3, etc. If so, Yes. Each is a separate init parm and they can all be updated by the same technique.

  • Pavilion 500 lost disk space

I bought a pavilion of 500 about 2 months ago and have been using it without any major problems.  However, I've noticed something recently that I would like an answer: it has to do with an apparent loss of space disk (HARD drive).  More space on the disc's video files.  Here are the details:

Said Disk Manager drive is healthy, and the OS partition is GB 1842. (Size of HARD drive supposed to be 2 TB)

Properties says space Total is 1.79 G, space used is TB 1.68 and is 114 GB free space.

However, it is actually used space:

    Recycle Bin = 70G

Program files and Windows = 4G

    Users = 449G

    Hidden files is negligible.

This means that my total actual use is 523 GB.

But then, where is the TB 1.15 claims of properties is used, but is not used?

I need an answer soon, as a space of 114G will be consumed quickly using more away from the video.  This system is only 2 months old, this looks like a major problem.  Is this a known issue?  What is the solution?

    Hi S_Miller_1960,

HARD drive manufacturer calculate the capacity of the HARD disk as a TB = 1000GB. Windows uses 1024 GB. This does not account for the total disparity in your analysis. It has NTFS formatting overhead and the use of HP Recovery disc.

Here is a link to free tools that can be used to analyze hard disk space usage.

You may find your answer by using one of these free tools.

  • Odd results when trying to expand disk space - help please

When I created my Windows Vista VM with merger originally, I allocated 20 GB of disk space. Now, I want that expand to 30G. I followed the steps outlined in the instructions and Fusion of the reports that I have 30G of space dedicated to the virtual machine. However, when I'm inside Vista and check the size of the C drive, it continues to report 20 G. How can I get Vista using the extra 10 GB of space I allocated?

    Thank you

    Danny

You have extended the volume in the disk of Vista Manager?  (Click on the start menu, right click on "Computer", click on 'Manage', then click on "Disk management". Right-click on the volume, then click on 'Extend the Volume', etc.).

  • Lost disk space

    Hello

I have a Macbook pro retina mid-2012 (10.1) with 16 GB of ram.

I use mac OS X El Capitan 10.11.3

I'm trying to set up a bootcamp partition. The problem is that the said finder I have 133 GB available, but the bootcamp assistant and disk utility I have only 56 Gb of available. I tried to do the procedure Sos in disk utility in recovery mode, it says that everything is ok and I do not get my space. Disk utility says that all of the lost space is used for 'movies '. But I have all the movies. And the viewfinder says I Go 133 left. Onyx even says I only 56 GB left. What Miss me?

    Thanks for your help.

The problem, I suppose, is that Boot Camp requires contiguous space. Your drive is a little fragmented for Boot Camp could find only 56 GBs of contiguous space in your space. There is that a single fix for it - repartitioning the drive. Unfortunately, this operation also erases everything on the disc.

Paragon Technologies is a software called CampTuneX utility that allows to resize Boot Camp partitions without the need to erase the disc. It costs about $20. You could try to create the 56 GB partition that allows to Boot Camp, then buy CampTuneX and see if it will extend to you. The alternative is to back up everything, use disk utility to repartition the disk, then restore your backup. This will defragment the drive then the empty space are all contiguous. It costs nothing if you have a drive for backup, but it will take time.

This forum does not the letter nor did pay extra for punctuation.  Please try to write in complete sentences.

Simply connect your external drive to your computer will redirect the import of files from the CD.  You don't always have enough space on your internal drive - at least that's what seems to be the case of the incomplete information provided.

Full error messages are needed to accurately diagnose problems.

There are a number of things you can do to- temporarily - free up disk space.  The only real solution, however, is to get a bigger internal hard drive.   You can move the data to your external drive, but if it's the data that you use frequently, slower access times may annoy you.  Therefore, I do not recommend that you move your My Documents folder in its entirety on the external drive, but you can certainly do this by following the related instructions. You can also move your iTunes folder there (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1364)

    • You can run Disk Cleanup (start > run > cleanmgr > OK)
    • You can reduce the size allocated for the restoration of the system to about 1 GB (right click on desktop > properties > system restore > settings)
    • You can disable hibernation (if you don't use it) (right click on an empty spot on the desktop > properties > screen saver > power > Hibernate)
    • You can disable the indexing of the drive, which will also speed up your computer a bit (http://lifehacker.com/031440/turn-off-indexing-and-speed-up-windows-xp)
    • You can reduce the size of your Internet browser cache (depending on the browser that you use)
    • You can remove most of the $NTUninstallKBxxxxxx files $ following the directions here: http://windowsxp.mvps.org/Hotfix_backup.htm (read the warnings in the gray box first)

But none of these answers you will earn really large amounts of space for very long.  The term solution time is a bigger hard drive.

In the meantime, download and run JDiskReport, that will show you graphically what files take up more space and seem to so indicate what files you must move it to your external drive.  If you want to move an application, you will need to uninstall and then reinstall it specifying your external drive as the installation location.  You can not simply move the files.

I've been running chkdsk on my hd
and it is recovering data... suddenly this message appeared: not enough disk space to recover lost data
I tried to delete some data... but can not access my hd!

    HELP ME PLEASE!
    Thankss

    Hey Polo,

    1. What exactly you're talking about when you say "my hd are not accessible? What exactly you get the error message?
    2. It is an external hard drive?

You need to do something to free space on your drive, aiming for 20 percent of capacity.

Move or delete some files to free disk spaceand then try again the Chkdsk utility.

Important: Running chkdsk on the drive if bad sectors are found on the disk hard when chkdsk attempts to repair this area if all available on which data can be lost.

Please post back with the State of the question.

  • Error (disk space low volume C) can anyone HELP?

Hello world! Earlier when I had a problem with virus/malware, I chose to reinstall the operating system from the original installation disc. I use the version of windows 7 Home premium 64-bit with 4 GB of internal memory with a SATA 320 hard drive, with I think, 3 volumes partitioned space. When I was prompted to install the disk volume. I chose a different location from the location of the original of the operating systems (for fear of more write the original location of Windows OS.) Now I get a (disk space low on volume C erorr).      I now have two copies of the WINDOWS operating system on my startup directory, but I need one! So far, I tried disk cleanup and created a new partion Volume "A".            RESULTS > nothing changed, still in train (error-Low disk space Volume 'C').  Can someone help, please?

Thank you for your valuable time into consideration my request:

    Hello!

The tools that I have recommended to you are very small size (up to 1 MB set).

You can safely remove the C:\WINDOWS\Prefetch content to free up a few megabytes.

The prefetch folder contains details of caching of frequently used programs and startup applications.

With this .pf files, Windows can improve the performance of applications.

The .pf files are re-created when the applications were revived.

  • After Run DEFRAG in VISTA has lost 37 GB of disk space

I ran disk cleanup after my loss of hard drive space that remove all restore points except last option and I do not recover FROM my concert 37 loss of hard drive space.  What does Windows Vista DEFRAG! ???  He dé-compresser some old compressed files?  In addition, during the execution of the "System Tools" folder defragmentation, there no option to see you an analisys "REPORT" of the hard drive before or after the execution of the actual DEFRAGMENTATION.  In addition, for a disk hard 320 GB with ANY other running application (3 GB of memory on an AMD Turion TL-60 2.00 GHz HP Laptop) it took more than 24 hours for the defragmentation to finish.  Help!  I want my rear disc space!

    Hello Halima,

It was an excellent and informative answer...  If you read my other two messages about this problem, I explained that I am very aware of the technical aspects of DEFRAG as system support for environments IBM Mainframe using IBM DEFAG back in the early 1980s.  My main concern was what happened to my DISK space.  Your reply explained what actually happened.  A little more complete history: it is a new DRIVE that I had just put into service (used CMS of TRANSFER of DATA to copy the entire volume, including the OS) upgrade to 160 GB to 320 GB.  He had worked flawlessly for two weeks.  I decided that I wanted a copy of my hard drive again and that he wanted to 'clean & not fragmented' volume before I copied it to a NEW 320 GB volume spare.  It was when I Defraged this week two used the volume I had my 'problem '.  I could get my space by manually deleting some files work and execution 'OWN DISC' system with deletes everything except the last system restore file.  Thanks for your time in my question ansewring.

    JF

    Hello, Jackie.

Click computer in the start menu

You should see the C drive, D drive, and DVD drive (usually E)

Under the C drive, you should see a message like

    200 GB 300 GB free

It will list how much free space on your hard drive?

Click on start and type system restore

Restore your computer system to a time before that happens.

Once your system restarts after system restore ends, attempt to open a document.  And, if you receive a message any during an attempt to do so, please note verbatim and after return.

I tried to remove some previous backups and it and it seemed to work OK and then all of a sudden decides to do the same thing. You already have disk cleanup?

    Please use this tutorial:
    http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/76073-disk-cleanup.html

The Atlantic tutorial has 2 parts:
Step 1 to 11 is for the classic disk cleanup which will give you back some disc FEPs.
Step 12 until the end (more), is to delete all except the most recent restore points. This will give bring you a ton of disk space.
ATTENTION: Make sure that your computer works OK because you delete restore points.
You have no past point to fall up to restore more new restore points are created.

  • Need help on the release of disk space

Hello world... I've recently refreshed my computer dell laptop and after this process has completed. I see that my c drive is nearly full, as about 20 GB is left out of 150 GB.

The problem is I'm sure that there must be more space on the c drive and when I check the size of all the files its not even 13 GB... so I wonder what's happened on this drive and what's showing I have only 20 GB left... can anyone please help out me with this one

    Original title: disk space

    I beg of you.

I recommend you get the Windows 8.1 update. It contains all fixes for known problems that have been discovered since 8.0 was released two years before--that's a lot of updates.  It is also necessary to use some functions or applications, more there improvements such as the return of the Start button and other updates to usability for those of us who use our computers with one keyboard and mouse.

    • Before you get the free 8.1 update in the app Store, go to the Panel Office and make sure you have first all updates.  Right click your Start button, choose Control Panel, then go to system and security and click on ' Check for updates ' in the Windows Update section. After they are all installed, restart and check once more there is no rest, then go ahead and start the 8.1 update.

Regarding the cleaning program. There is no 'damage' in run periodically, just keep in mind that it can empty your trash, so be careful if you think you will need to retrieve an item removed recently.  Also consider that some of the elements that it cleans are actually useful to you.  The temporary Internet files for example, are there to speed up your Internet usage.  If you disable the files, all files must be downloaded again, that slows down the speed of your Internet.

    • In general, I recommend not to execute the cleaning manually program and allow for automatic maintenance of Windows to take care of it for you. The default automatic maintenance works at 03:00 once a week, but you can change that in the center of the Action.
