Pavilion 500 lost disk space

I bought a pavilion of 500 about 2 months ago and have been using it without any major problems.  However, I've noticed something recently that I would like an answer: it has to do with an apparent loss of space disk (HARD drive).  More space on the disc's video files.  Here are the details:

Said Disk Manager drive is healthy, and the OS partition is GB 1842. (Size of HARD drive supposed to be 2 TB)

Properties says space Total is 1.79 G, space used is TB 1.68 and is 114 GB free space.

However, it is actually used space:

Recycle Bin = 70G

Program files and Windows = 4G

Users = 449G

Hidden files is negligible.

This means that my total actual use is 523 GB.

But then, where is the TB 1.15 claims of properties is used, but is not used?

I need an answer soon, as a space of 114G will be consumed quickly using more away from the video.  This system is only 2 months old, this looks like a major problem.  Is this a known issue?  What is the solution?

Hi S_Miller_1960,

HARD drive manufacturer calculate the capacity of the HARD disk as a TB = 1000GB. Windows uses 1024 GB. This does not account for the total disparity in your analysis. It has NTFS formatting overhead and the use of HP Recovery disc.

Here is a link to free tools that can be used to analyze hard disk space usage.

You may find your answer by using one of these free tools.

  • Lost disk space

    Hello

I have a Macbook pro retina mid-2012 (10.1) with 16 GB of ram.

I use mac OS X El Capitan 10.11.3

I'm trying to set up a bootcamp partition. The problem is that the said finder I have 133 GB available, but the bootcamp assistant and disk utility I have only 56 Gb of available. I tried to do the procedure Sos in disk utility in recovery mode, it says that everything is ok and I do not get my space. Disk utility says that all of the lost space is used for 'movies '. But I have all the movies. And the viewfinder says I Go 133 left. Onyx even says I only 56 GB left. What Miss me?

    Thanks for your help.

The problem, I suppose, is that Boot Camp requires contiguous space. Your drive is a little fragmented for Boot Camp could find only 56 GBs of contiguous space in your space. There is that a single fix for it - repartitioning the drive. Unfortunately, this operation also erases everything on the disc.

Paragon Technologies is a software called CampTuneX utility that allows to resize Boot Camp partitions without the need to erase the disc. It costs about $20. You could try to create the 56 GB partition that allows to Boot Camp, then buy CampTuneX and see if it will extend to you. The alternative is to back up everything, use disk utility to repartition the disk, then restore your backup. This will defragment the drive then the empty space are all contiguous. It costs nothing if you have a drive for backup, but it will take time.

It is true that I looked through the docs on your supplied terms site keys on what I was looking for.

I found the files init with the current settings, you're talking about.

In order to confirm that I could use the "alter" system to be updated on the fly, but I must also update the init file to make the changes permanent. But if I specify "SCOPE = both" it will be updated on the fly and update the init file?

    ALTER SYSTEM SET log_archive_dest_1 = 'X:\archive\inst1' SCOPE = BOTH

Seeing how I have several sites I could just run this command again to set the location 2, I guess I can?

I check to see if I'm on the right track and see if you flame me :)

    Thank you.

No flame. You did your search insead of whining. :-)

scope = two updates to the running instance and the spfile. Update the spfile makes persistent change, as it will be picked up on the next reboot.

I guess that by "several locations" you are referring to several locations of loc_archive_dest... Log_archive_dest_1, dest_2, des_3, etc. If so, Yes. Each is a separate init parm and they can all be updated by the same technique.

  • Pavilion 500 C60: Free disk space D

I have a new Pavilion 500 C60, and I am concerned about the D drive, which has a picture of "recovery."  The space used is 13.6 GB and free space is 1.94 GB. My 'hard drive' C has 8 GB.  Obviously, I'm not a computer prodigy, but I think that the D drive can fill up... and then what?  Please reassure me or tell me what I need to do.  Thank you!!

The recovery Partition is to house recovery files to restore the PC to "new factory" - the same as it was when he arrived.  The reader is "almost complete" because it's the plan.  D: drive should not be used for anything else.   It is not an error and does not affect the use of the c: drive.

It seems that the system C partition is full.
You can move files such as mp3, images or the docs to the D partition.
You can also run CCLeaner to clean and remove the time stored files.
Its possible that there are some files/data on the C drive that could be deleted using CCleaner

  • Utility disk and moving Qosmio X 500 record low space drice C

This can be a pretty long post because I try to explain my problem... Please forgive.

I got my X 500 over three months now.
It took a little while before only the awake folder migration utility I didn't know that it is there after I had done a limited copy of the records in front of my old Qosmio F20. After he woke up and I was able to transfer files/folders through it allows plenty of room for the "tiny" - I feel, 60 GB SSD C drive.

I get a message to come sometimes, when I boot, the file migration utility has a setting for me. If I open the utility it shows no file in the 'C' drive area and already transferred files [first use it] in the side right for him had ' drive. Text at the bottom of the utility said something like "If you have done some manual transfers, so it cannot do anything"... something in the lines - sorry for not being clear on this.

I recently installed other programs and tried every time to do an install custom files [x 86] on the D drive in the program folder. However, drive C is now showing a to 5.58 59.2 GB disk space.

Check copies of records? I thought that for the programs I have installed I find a lot of folders/files in these folders, so take plenty of program.

What is the best way to free up space on the drive "C" Please?

I have to manually copy the data contained in the files [not only a 'name'... IE; [AVID... folder but perhaps also in drive C program files (x 86) folder] to the same name of folders on drive D?

If I did, the programs would work properly or there are problems in the program being located?

When the utility first activated [se] I thought ' great... transfer of all data from my old X 500 will be easy ', but it doesn't seem to be the case. I expect that any new program installed would be are automatically copied into drive D. I'm a bit paranoid about insufficient space on the C drive.

    Help would be appreciated.

To be honest I don t understand why you use any file migration utility only to copy the data from one HARD drive to another.

In my opinion, you simply copy the data to another partition. If you need different folders, then you can create it manually.

So, I recommend always using the C partition for system only! The D partition can be used for other data like pictures, movies, MP3s, PDFs etc.

    > What is the best way to free up space on the drive "C" Please?
Well, transfer the data from C to D, but note; You cannot move installed programs.
This means that if you install an application on C and if you move this to D then this software is not works.
In this case, you need to install once again on D.

and it is recovering data... suddenly this message appeared: not enough disk space to recover lost data
I tried to delete some data... but can not access my hd!

    HELP ME PLEASE!
    Thankss

    Hey Polo,

    1. What exactly you're talking about when you say "my hd are not accessible? What exactly you get the error message?
    2. It is an external hard drive?

You need to do something to free space on your drive, aiming for 20 percent of capacity.

Move or delete some files to free disk spaceand then try again the Chkdsk utility.

Important: Running chkdsk on the drive if bad sectors are found on the disk hard when chkdsk attempts to repair this area if all available on which data can be lost.

Please post back with the State of the question.

I tried to call support, but they wanted $$ just to troubleshoot the problem.

  • Pavilion 500 - C60: new office reads, "ERROR: no boot disk was detected or the disc has failed" at startup.

Just bought Pavilion 500 - C60, running Windows 8.1 64-bit and am doing everything on old HP running Windows Vista Home Premium SP 2. Has not gone smoothly from one thing to another, but I think everything comes together. A couple of days, began to receive the error message at startup or, if I COULD do so that it starts would go for awhile and then would get an ERROR message, requiring restart. Usually after obtaining the error message several times, the computer would then initialize. Tonight, I couldn't override the error message for anything! When you press power button / stop, I hear (HD) running for a few seconds, everything is silent, and then the error message appears on the gray screen dark in white letters, BACK very and sinister looking! Any suggestions? Had the computer about two months and it has not been easy.

Not good!  Check all the connectors and the hard drive to make sure that they are correctly wired in place. Make sure that your cable is not reversed.

Contact the seller if still under warranty for repair.  This could be the hard drive or motherboard and the problem lies the only diagnosis from a repair facility.

  • HP Pavilion dv6-3150us Notebk: space low disk after upgrade to version 1607 Windows10

In the month of August I have improved my laptop Windows 7 Home Premium Windows 10.  Everything worked fine for a month now until Windows 10 1607 version has been highly recommended by people of Windows 10.

After having updated with all updates faithfully, but as soon as I tried (four times) to install Windows 10 1607 version, then the step of time again to return to the previous version of Windows.  Then I hit a brick wall.  I always get the error message: "low disk space".  And Windows is continuously remind upgrade me to 1607. As in the famous movie, it's a catch-22 situation.

I read part of the help Forum and led to a link suggested by a member of the staff of HP as the only resolution available.  The link for this low disk space error problem is http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03736755.

I translated the link Windows 7 instructions in organization style Windows of problem resolutions 10 and is in the section "Files and folders" and then followed the steps in Windows 7.  But I always hit a brick wall.  In the view of files hidden on my recovery disk (drive D I checked I didn't backup any personal files to occupy space unnecessarily.)  I also emptied the previous system restore and just did a new restoration of the system.  But still the same problem.  It seems I need to extend my recovery disk for Windows 10 version 1607.  But by following the steps in the evolution of my partitions, the option to extend the recovery disc has been shaded and so available.

Is it possible to enlarge my recovery disk? This laptop is great and has a lot of life left.  I don't want to have to buy a new one just to work on this problem of low disk space error.

Desperately need help because it is the only computer for our family.

Sorry do not provide the follow-up to resolution as soon as possible.  Here's how my problem was resolved:

I asked my son to help IT specialist.  He re-partitioned my computer using a free software tool (AOMEI Partition Wizard Standard Edition).    I choose to add 50 GB of my unit (recovery drive) which then totaled 68 GB for this drive. because I wanted to ensure this problem wouldn't come back and I had space to work with.

I have worked with this resolution now for about a month and have a zero problem.  What I noticed, was that after a few weeks 10 Windows should have automatically cleared out my previous updates because Windows Explorer now shows that this drive has a file size a total space of 68 and 51 GB that is not used which brings my use of the reader to 17 GB.

I am guessing that before Windows 10 empty automatically previous updates that he needed somewhere between 20-25 Go make the final version of 1607 upgrade and retain earlier versions (for me to return to the previous editions).   Then the end of the period of time to return 10 Windows must have automatically deleted my previous editions and just kept upgrading version of 1607.  In hindsight I would have added 50 GB on my drive - on another 10-12 GB would have been more than enough for this transition period to work.

Finally I am EXTREMELY well pleased I did the update of Windows 10 and then added the update of the birthday Version (1607).   I like the added security features and a large number of features and benefits.

    Hope this helps others.
