  I have been using Firefox for years and have never experienced this problem. When I opened the browser today several posts on the bookmarks toolbar were missing, for example PayPal, Chase, etc. When I right click on the toolbar and select "Open all in tabs", he says, "you are about to open 17 tabs. This could slow down Firefox while pages load. Are you sure you want to continue? "Currently, there are only 4 remaining items that were there yesterday. He could have 17 items there previously (they filled up the entire toolbar).

  I discovered that in the toolbar editor, I could move all items except PayPal and eBay. All other items display their URL, but PayPal and eBay doesn't have, and I couldn't move on them like the others. And so I moved everything to the PayPal and eBay.

• How can I download OE 8? My Inbox in OE 6 disappeared with all of my saved emails.

  My Inbox & all folders (with my saved emails) yesterday disappear from OE 6.  They gave me yesterday of the instructions that I followed but with no luck because I have not all the files 'bak' in my trash - I remove periodically when I 'Compact' my files every month.  I was told I should install OE 8 but I doubt that will come back my missing documents.  It takes rather than I get these 'lost' items.  If you think I should RESTORE to an earlier date (this week), how should I do this?  For a long time I had to do & I don't remember the process.  Thank you very much.

  Ive recently had to do a restore to factory on my computer vista laptop because it wouldn't boot up - however he wouldn't let me come back all my files to the top and now lost 4 years worth of photos and work of college who took 2 months to research and set up!

  I upgraded my PC to window 10 and didn't have any other problems with it. I lost the documents and valuable images and must get back them. I bought a recovery program and it didn't work at all. I am on a limited budget and can't afford to spend my money on something that isn't a job. I'm hoping to return to window 7 I'll be able to recover these items, as well as some programs such as Word Processor window. I worked and worked on this PC for days trying to recover not only the lost files, but to restore Windows 7 without any result. Please help me as soon as possible. My lost items are very valuable, and I found that 7 window to be more user friendly.

  See Gerry Cornell answer and note that you can do this only if you did an upgrade, not a new install of Windows 10, and if this was done in the last 30 days.

  If you have lost your photos and documents, it seems that you did a clean install, not an upgrade, and you're out of luck.

  Another point: it looks like you do not backup media outside regular photos and documents. If this is the case, you've played with fire. You should definitely make a backup before taking a big step to a Windows Update, but do it regularly even if you do not have. "As it has often been said, it isn't a question of * if * you will lose all your data, but * when".

  When I updated Firefox to 27.0.1 I lost scrapbook, so I did a reset of firefox. Have I lost all my items to scrapbook? I think I scrapbook more 2 installed - I think! At this point, I'm totally frustrated. I have used Firefox for years, and this is the first time that I had these problems.

  Also, alt print screen and print screen does not work properly with Firefox now.  It works fine with Internet Explorer and Chrome, and believe me I went thru hell trying to find out what was wrong before I found out that the updated Firefox was the problem.   Hi Rob, thanks for sending me the document.

  I think that the 'partial screen' strange artifacts could indicate that Firefox is not totally compatible with the driver for your graphics card. The usual solution is to disable the use of Firefox hardware acceleration.

  the button Firefox orange (or the Tools menu) > Options > advanced

  In the mini ' General' tab, uncheck the box for "use hardware acceleration when available.

  Which will take effect after you quit and then restart Windows. Any difference?

  I notice that you turn off hardware acceleration for a different reason (https://support.mozilla.org/questions/948616) about 14 months ago, but after using Firefox reset function, which would default to 'on '.

• Startup items lost and won't start not

  I used El Capitan 10.11.1 and everything was ok. Before moving to 10.11.2, I had 4 apps like startup items on my account:

  -Dropbox

  -Clean my mac 3

  -Moom

  -Macs fan control

  After upgrading to 10.11.2, only of Dropbox is still to go. The behavior is baffling to me. I'll try to explain it.

  I opened the apps that have been lost as startup items. I put them to run at startup of mac under applications settings. When I restart the Mac OS X, restart the application, but the startup option in the Mac OS X startup is lost (if I go to the settings that the box is unchecked, if I look on the startup items, that the application is not). Of course, if I don't put it once again, the applications will start during the next reboot. So, this means that, after adding an application as startup item, only starts at the next restart, then is lost.

  The same thing happens if I add the apps manually as startup items instead of through the settings of applications.

  There may be other issues, but you should start by getting rid of "CleanMyMac."

  'CleanMyMac' is a scam and a frequent cause of instability and poor performance. Depending on which version you have, the developer's instructions may not completely uninstall. Please follow these instructions, then do as below.

  Please, back up all data before proceeding.

  Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select this option:

  Right-click or Ctrl-click on the highlighted line and select

  Services ▹ reveal in Finder (or just to reveal)

  Two reasons the most common for what you describe is disruption of the compacting process, (never touch anything until it's finished), or bloated folders. More about that below.

  Recovery tools:

  If you use XP/SP2 or SP3, and are fully patched, then you should have a backup of your dbx files in the Recycle Bin (or possibly the message store), copied as bak files.

  To restore a folder bak on the message store folder, first find the location of the message store.

  Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

  In Windows XP, the .dbx files are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in the Solution Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder options | View.

  Close OE and in Windows Explorer, click on the dbx to the file missing or empty file, then drag it to the desktop. It can be deleted later once you have successfully restored the bak file. Minimize the message store.

  Open OE and, if the folder is missing, create a folder with the * exact * same name as the bak file you want to restore but without the .bak. For example: If the file is Saved.bak, the new folder should be named saved. Open the new folder, and then close OE. If the folder is there, but just empty, continue to the next step.

  First of all, check if there is a bak file already in the message. If there is, and you have removed the dbx file, go ahead and rename it in dbx.

  If it is not already in the message, open the trash and do a right-click on the file bak for the folder in question and click on restore. Open the message store up and replace the .bak by .dbx file extension. Close the message store and open OE. Messages must be in the folder.

  If messages are restored successfully, you can go ahead and delete the old dbx file that you moved to the desktop.
   
  If you have not then bak copies of your dbx files in the Recycle Bin:

  A general warning to help avoid this in the future:

  Do not archive mail in default OE folders. They finally are damaged. Create your own folders defined by the user for mail storage and move your mail to them. Empty the deleted items folder regularly. Keep user created folders under 300 MB, and also empty as is possible to default folders.

  Disable analysis in your e-mail anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer of protection that devours the CPUs, slows down sending and receiving and causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs, account setting changes and has even been responsible for the loss of messages. • Lost and replaced by a non-operational generic icon task bar items

  We just bought a new, fresh and clean, computer HP desktop with Windows 7. We have installed MS Office and some other tools that we use. We then implemented the taskbar with the tools that we use more. Some of them disappear and are replaced by a generic folder icon. When attempting to launch what it was, we are told that the item is missing and we want to remove the item from the task bar. This only happens with some icons, MS Office - ALL of them, and a few others we installed. This machine is new and has been used for anything except certain configuration and a bit of web browsing. I wasn't expecting to face something so important so early - as the first day! Anyone know what is happening? I saw the other, similar questions (but none where the program behind the icon is lost) and we can't do a system restore - definitely not yet!

  You can try rebuild icon cache. To do this, please follow these steps:

  1. Click Start, then computer.

  2. on the toolbar, click on organize, and select folder and search options.

  3. click on the tab display and mark to select the option of hidden files and folders, and then click ok.

  4. Enter the following directory:

  %UserProfile%\AppData\Local

  5. find the IconCache.db file and rename it to IconCache.db.old.

  6. close the window and restart the computer.

  If this does not work then you can do a Scan SFC.

  To run the System File Checker tool, follow these steps:

  1. click on start toreduce this includes this image and then type cmd in the box start the search .

  2 right-click cmd in the programs list and then click run as administrator. Collapse this includes this imageIf you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click continue

  3. in the command calls, the following line and press ENTER: sfc/scannow
