  I'm sorry to know that you are facing problems with activation. I wish to inform you that, whenever there is a significant change in material to the computer, such as upgrading the hard disk and memory at the same time, you may be required to activate Windows again.   You don't mention if your computer comes with Win 8 is installed.  If it was the case the product key is integrated into the BIOS.  There is no way to recover it without third party software.

  Hello

  The product key of Windows 8 (I guess it was the operating system that came with your laptop) is integrated into the chip of your system BIOS. Even if the hard drive is replaced, the product key remains intact in the motherboard BIOS chip.

  So, when you put the new hard drive & try to recover the Windows 8 operating system in your new drive, the OS will automatically activate of the product key in the BIOS chip. You don't have to do it manually.

  But, in case you got a message to activate Windows 8, you will need to contact HP or Microsoft technical support in your region.

  This problem can also occur if the Windows activation file is corrupted. I suggest you phone activation.

  1. press Windows + X key then click Run, and then type: slui.exe 4
  2. then press the ENTER"" key.
  3. Select your "country" in the list.
  4. choose the option "activate phone":

  5. stay on the phone (do not select/press all options) and wait for a person to help you with the activation.

  NOTE:  if your system came with Windows preinstalled 8 then you need to install Windows 8 of disc/partition recovery and then upgrade to Windows 8.1.

  If you have installed Windows 8.1 OEM (bought separately) then the Windows 8 key delivered with the device will not work and you need to contact Microsoft to get an or activate.
