  Check the Device Manager.  Click Start and right-click computer.  -> Device Manager, click Properties.  Look under imaging devices.  Right-click the entry for your webcam and click on properties.  If it is disabled, you can activate it if there is no lack of material.  Also check to see if there is one? or! by the entrance.  If so, you need to download a new copy of the driver and reinstall.

• 3110 webcam and Skype - cannot start video rendering engine. Make sure you have a valid installation of DirectX.

  I had a new HP Pavillion Elite running Windows 7 and bought a HP Webcam HD 3110 which is supposed to have Skype compatibility (clearly indicated on the packaging).  The webcam came with a bunch of software (ArcSoft Magic - i Visual Effects2, ArcSoft Webcam companion 3, ArcSoft Connect and ArcSoft ShowBiz).

  When I turn on my webcam using the ArcSoft program it seems to work fine (I can see and record videos with sound). When I try to use Skype, the sound works fine (there is a microphone on the camera). In Skype, the video does not work and it gives me the message "cannot start video renderer. Make sure you have a valid installation of DirectX.

  I have the latest version of the driver for the webcam, I have the latest version of DirectX (version11) and the latest version of Skype (version 5.0.0.152). I tried to use "ManyCam" program that some people recommended, but it did not work. Anyone else have this same problem? Someone knows how to solve?

  I think HP has provided an update to the drivers of webcam which solves this problem... and Skype will include a fix soon.

  Whenever I try to use Skype all I get is a blue screen where my webcam should be. I checked to see if my webcam doesn't work at all, and all I get is the web cam iniliziation failed Please check device and restart.

  In front of me, I have Satellite P500 and I use it almost a year now. Since the first day I use it with Win7 preinstalled original and Skype.
  Up to now, I have strength to have one problem with cam or Skype. Everything works fine.

  I got a message that my webcam is locked by another application.
  This has happened because I started Skype and the Skype used the webcam while I try to start the webcam software.

  Solution is to disable the webcam software and Skype in msconfig.
  Then I restarted the laptop. Now, if I want to use webcam software I start the first webcam software. Then a webcam icon in the task bar and I can use the webcam without any error message.

  To activate the LTE only simply follow these instructions:

  -Open the Dialer

  -Enter * #* #* #* #7378423

  -Go into settings of Service

  -In network mode, select LTE only

  Note that calls do not work on LTE only unless you use VoLTE

  I have a laptop Compaq Presario V5120NR. My operating system has crashed and it was not recoverable. I ourchased a copy of Windows XP Home Edition and installed it. It is the same OS that came on the phone. I downloaded all the drivers available through HP support and installed them. Device Manager still shows that I have not installed driver for the SM bus. The laptop works, but has a few "quirks", such as the screen saver turns on, but then turns off for no apparent reason. No problem, just annoying little things like that. Any idea where I can get the driver for the SM bus would be greatly appreciated :-)

  This driver does not cover my graphics device (Raedon Express 200 series). However, the information you provided gave me the insight to solve my problem. Uninstall and reinstall my graphics driver solves the problem. And so far, no more "quirks". Thank you very much for the help.  :-)
