  If your copy of Vista came pre-installed with your PC, you should contact the manufacturer of your PC for replacement disks. You will find no doubt that they will charge you for the replacement and they won't be cheap.

  If you purchased your copy of Vista in a store you will be normal should have the purchase receipt or proof of purchase (I guess a credit card statement would be sufficient, but I'm not sure).   And you need a DVD of Vista from Microsoft to do a repair installation upgrade according to the instructions, NOT the normal manufacturer's recovery disks.

  You will need to borrow a Microsoft Vista DVD from a friend or working knowledge.

  And if you have never received a recovery disk when you bought your computer, there should be a recovery Partition on the hard drive to reinstall Vista on how you purchased your computer.

  If Vista is preinstalled on your laptop, this product key is NOT for Windows 7.

  There is a free upgrade from Vista to Windows 7 years, but that offer expired for a long time.
