LR4.4 - blackened boxes when importing images of PSE10 catalog upgrade [was: Lightroom 4]

I've been using photoshop elements for more 10 a year and decided it was time to move to Lightroom to my photo workflow that I do more paid photography.  I purchased and received my box of the full version of Lightroom 4 of B & H photovideo Friday.  I installed then went online and made to date with the lightroom Download 4.4.  Then I opened lightroom 4.4 for the first time and went to files and selected upgrade my loose photoshoped to lightroom catalog.  Which has been finished I then tried to import images into lightroom 4 to work with them and all I get are blackened or shaded boxes in my band slip at the bottom of the window of the Office in import mode. When I point to each box, it shows a file name but does not display the image.  I spent all kinds of time to read and watch the tutorials on the opening of the images, importing images and catalogs and I'm FRUSTRATED...  I'd really like to talk to someone to get this figured out.  Never, I thought it would be this difficult to use this program... HELP please...

You may have a corrupted profile monitor on your system. For a quick test, switch to the default sRGB profile, and then check if the images now appear as expected.

If this is the cause, recalibrate you're your monitor should solve the problem.

If not, what operating system and version are working you with?

Which is exactly the type of camera you use?

RAW or JPG?

  • How to change the date format in Lightroom, when importing images?

When you import into Lightroom, you get the following structure in Lightroom for Macintosh HD.

    Year-> Date.

I want some level 3 like this structure.   Year-> month-> Date

    How to do this?

    Hi lennartr,

When you import images, you can change the Date Format in "Copy as DNG, copy or move", but not in the Add box.

On the right panel, you expand the Destination folder and change the Date Format.

Let me know if it helps.

    Few things to try:

    1. unplug the card and plug it in again. Then try to copy the pictures.

    2. If you tried to transfer images using import to Windows, try to transfer normally and vice versa.

  • When you import images into the latest version of Lightroom CC why all my images become black so there's nothing to see?

I tried to import by different methods.  I created an external file on my hard drive and put the RAW images in there and asked Lightroom to import from there.  I also simply asked Lightroom to import directly from the card to the camera.

In both cases, I see the images on my screen but then one by one, they are converted to an image blackened with nothing at all.

I tried to put pictures in development but that makes no difference, even using the adjustment sliders.

I tried to export images from Lightroom in Photoshop CC.  There, I have a very dark version of the image.  While I suppose I could change it, I have no idea what the image before hand that I simply export a black image.

This happened only since I've upgraded to the new version of Lightroom on CC.  Before that, I had no problem and went through the laborious effort of crating a new catalogue over 25,000 images... maybe it's a very small number of images in actual value, but for me it's a great thing.

  • Error when importing Images .bmp

    Hi all

I get an error when you try to import a bitmap (*.bmp) image file into Flash Professional CS6. I tried the two 'Import to library' and 'import of course' and they both raise the same error...

This is the error I get when trying to import:

"One or more files were imported not because he had problems reading them."

After searching around online I found a few examples of people for similar problems when importing stuff, but none of those who were for .bmp impoting images.

No idea why I can't do this?

Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

    EDIT:

I just tried downloaing a .bmp on the internet and was able to import successfully, but still cannot import the one I want actuallty. The image I want to import is one I created using Gimp 2.8 and had to 'export' in the Gimp xcf format .bmp format...

    Thanks in advance,

    Matt

Usually, you can just re - save the same file again and it will work. Try to open it, save-as/export it crushes the same BMP and then try again. BMP is lossless, so you won't lose any quality re - record. If there is no real reason that you use BMP, you need to use a PNG image which is lossless and much smaller in the size of the file as long as largely taken in charge.

  • ERROR CODE 604, will not import images after the recent upgrade from trial version free of subscription.

HI, I'm getting an error code 604 when I try to import images, it comes up with the following message, some import operations were not made, the following files were not imported because they could be read... items 1-100 etc.

I import the raw files from my card, it's no different than when I imported on the free trial version, but now I've updated it wont let me import, everything else seems to work very well with the catalogue, export etc.  Please help me as soon as possible, if someone had this problem?

Hi thank you 99jon, you're perfectly right, it's to do with permissions and thanks for putting me on the right track to fix, the destination had for some strange reason changed during the upgrade, so raw files went to a file on the hard drive which has permissions rather than the images where he used to go (until the upgrade).  If anyone has this error code 604, please look to see where the images are current, is not always easy to say right away, I saw he entered the hard drive and initially assumed that it would go into pictures where it is before the upgrade, it would be useful that adobe has this error code with an explanation of what this means on their list of troubleshooting , but could not find any information anywhere.  It caused me a lot of delays with hundreds of images that I work on different maturities, but thank God its fixed, very happy

  • When importing images and adding timeline he zoomed in

I'm going by the guidelines for the number of pixels an image can be then import to the premier pro CC but when I import happens ok on the window preview, but when I add it to the timeline/sequence that it zoomed in how if I can see the whole image. I create the image on Photoshop.

    Here's how:

    1. Select the image in the scenario.
    2. Go to your effect control panel.
    3. Turn down the triangle next to "movement".
    4. Drag the box where it says '100' to the left until you see the whole picture.

If you do not plan to animate the scale, position or rotation of the image there is an easier method. Select the image, then right-click (Windows) or Ctrl-click (Mac OS) and > scale to the size of the image

  • Images not showing Up when importing from another photographer catalog

I am an editor for a wedding photographer and I had this problem happens often, and I don't know what is the cause. I can see all the information behind the image, the ranking and if there is no previous editing on it, but the image itself is not displayed. The photographer sends on the catalogue, forecasting and intelligent preview. There are moments that all transfer perfectly and other times the images are not there.

We tried to delete everything on both ends and start making sure that everything is done correctly, but it still happens. I tried to discuss with the support, but they have not been able to help. Whenever this happens, I lose money because I can't be their editor. We have both the most recent LR so it's not the question.

How we are currently transferring Weddings:

She takes is export as catalog with preview and intelligent preview. Once it's she will post the three files (catalogue, smart overview and overview) on Dropbox and sends them on. When I get it, I download the catalog of smart zip preview and preview of the zip. Once downloaded, I extract the prediction and intelligent preview. Can I go to file > import from another catalog... I click on the catalog file and select choose.  Sometimes it works and other times it does not.

    What we're doing wrong?

OK, so after talking with Adobe on two different days, then post it here, I called Adobe and they set about 5 minutes. Here's what he once let him access my computer...

    (1) closed LR

    (2) he checked my monitor has been fixed by default sRGB as shown above.

    (3) then it went to the folder and change the smart preview to a different name by putting .old to the end

    (4) then instead of extracting the zip file it opens the zip file and copied the file and pasted with other files

    (5) opened LR and images where it!

  • Changes to the Raw files disappear when importing Images from external drive

I use three external drives to copy my files from a work of transformation. Then I delete the original work on my hard drive portable. When I need to access these files again, I usually then re - import files in lightroom and remove the external hard drive. I used this system for years without problem. Recently, I found that when I go to import files from the external hard drive, my changes are gone. .Xmp files are there and I checked to make sure that the box is checked to write the changes to the .xmp file. I narrowed down it to two possible problems. It can be a problem with the disk hard as it seems to have started when I bought two new drives (see below). I also noticed that it seems to happen to Canon. Raw CR2 files and not Nikon. Raw NEF files. If someone has had this problem or have any suggestions?

  • Video cut out of the box when importing to chronology :( What should do?

    Hello!

My first video on my calendar and everything's fine so I.

However when I try to import another video with the same framework, it seems that he zoomed because it cut a large part of the frame that I see even more my face . I even tried the consultation in the preview area on the top left (which seems well) until I have drag in the timeline.

Photo 1: This is the original video

    Screen Shot 2015-01-10 at 10.44.46 AM.png

Photo 2: This is the additional clip that I add that cuts out of the frame

Something I need to specify so is, I recorded audio & video separately and them merged with the Merge option he that Premiere Pro, but that should not be a problem because I did the same thing with my first video to synchronize audio and it did not cut out of the frame.

I'm still new to first pro and when I search for tutorials, nobody seems to have this problem. Any help?

    Thank you

  • LR6 freezes when importing images / NO answers by ADOBE :-(((

    Hey dear community,

seems ADOBE really has a problem with the topic (see also the discussion: LR6 crashes when you import photos)

Up to now only support by others having same problem, but ADOBE keeps quiet.

Hope they realize and will soon come back with a solution.

For me, the situation remained unchanged: EVERY THIRD or FOURTH LR IMPORT FREEZES AND CAN ONLY BE woken UP to the TOP BY CTRL-ESC-CMD.

The good thing so far is only, that program works then ok and I also have not detected a failure to follow the directions of archives. (fingers crossed)

So my request: ADOBE - hurry up!

I thank you for the update Frankonia, let me know if everything goes well.

  • Modified when importing image

I just started to work on a mac, and it's never happened to me on a pc.

I am incorporating a flash on my site navigation. I imported the background image in flash and it has changed the appearance of the image (brightness, contrast, color). Is there a setting I need to change or a different file format I should use (it is currently a .jpg file)?

You can see the problem here.

    any help would be great!

    I have it!

I was working on with normal settings (RGB, out of high quality in flash, etc.). How I always did stuff. That's why I couldn't understand it, cause it has never done this to me before.

so I re-exported the .jpg of photoshop with "icc profile" checked and "optimize" ticked. and that did the trick. I don't know why, but there must be something with the profile icc who does not read right in flash on a Mac... or something. I don't know... I'm just glad that it's fixed now.

  • What happened to the ability to import images duplicate in new window of Lightroom?

In the import window that allows us to be able to uncheck "do not import suspected duplicates" is this option go? If Yes, what is the work around, as an instuctor I build around an image I have had in previous cases but would now choose to have in the same folder to teach with lesson plans. I can't find a solution to the new import window. Someone at - it a?

He went. He isn't here. The workaround is to use virtual Copies, rather than import a picture more than once.
