  • Failure to connect the HotSync Palm TX 4.2 and Office XP Pro

    I have a Palm TX with v. 4.2 OS and HotSync residing in a XP Pro PC.

    When you perform the HotSync operation, controlled by the cable button, either very often fails because unable to connect to the PC or the device is not recognized.

    After several attempts, HotSync works fine, using the same USB port.

    This problem isn't to blame on the desktop environment or is there something that can be fixed on the Palm software?

    The TX comes with Palm OS 5.4.9 installed - 4.2 is very probably the version of Palm Desktop, you are running.

    The problem could be easily the cable itself, or dirty contacts on the bottom of the unit.  Check the HotSync port gold on the TX sign of dirt, oil or corrosion.  Cleaning of this area with Contact Cleaner (available at electronics stores) or isopropyl alcohol and a cotton swab can solve the problem.

    If you have another available HotSync cable that you can borrow, I would suggest that-a break in one of the tiny wires inside could produce the symptoms you describe.

  • Tungsten E don't hotsync on Windows 7

    I run my Palm Tungsten E (bought in 2005) using the HotSync Manager 4 without problem.

    I just got a new HP laptop and tried to install the HotSync Manager, the drive did not have software to do the installation.

    I downloaded HotSync Manager 7.0.2 to try to resolve the problem. The result is the same - HotSync does not work and NO error no message to tell me what may be the problem!

    Did anyone had success turning a successful HotSync the Tungsten E Windows.

    I also have an old Tungsten E and now a new laptop with Windows 7 64 bit. I finally understood how to synchronize so here's my story.
    Already said that it works by infrared, so I bought an infrared adapter USB 7780 MOSCHIP (www.conrad.nl) and downloaded driver win7-64 www.moschip.com and installed the infrared adapter.
    I downloaded Palmdesktop 6.22 including hotsync 7.02. I also had to download and install additional conduct for Outlook2007 which I am running.
    Next: setting up hotsync to my Tungsten E account. First make a user account. It's a little tricky because this isn't the username under network parameter, but the name that appears in the upper right of the screen if you synchronize. I also had to cancel my password I got into serious trouble syncing asked a password, although I never had a password configuration in my Tungesten E. go to prefs - security - and cancel your password.
    Then in the hotsync Manager filling out what Sync (contacts, calendar, Outlook etc.). And then connection sto Infarred and network!
    Then set up the connection, placing my infrared USB adaptor near the mt Tungesten E IR. Then go to prefs, connection and I thought choose IR for PC/handheld, but the later which proved to be wrong, so I created my own custom "IR Paul" connection and the connection to the PC and via an infrared connection.
    Next to the prefs - network - service Untitled, username in my case "psalverd", "password" and connection to the IR Paul. Fact
    The Star then tab on the PDA but cancel immediatelt as Tungesten E then well that you put in place to connect with IR tries to connect to usnig a home/cable station. Yo see the Hotsync on your PDA saying menu "hotsync last date-time" with Paul IR. Its the Hotsync icon in the middle of the screen and hotsync tab will now run. On your PC, a window opens showing the progression of your timing, will soon launch a password (no) and then starts the synchronization really.

    Hope my story will help someone else. As I'm not a very literate PC users that perhaps not all correct, but it worked for me.

  • Don't Palm IIIc none liked HotSync under WinME

    Several years ago I was given a Palm IIIc (in his original box) which the owner no longer wanted. I installed Palm desktop on a WinME computer and had no real issues running Hotsync. I use the Palm almost exclusively to run a business application that I developed for internal use.

    Recently, I decided that I should update the application (especially just the data set used, in fact, not the code itself). But I was doing mixed "cannot connect" and "lost connection" messages and now all I get "cannot establish a connection.

    A couple of other facts:

    -It's been almost three years since I tried to Hotsync anything (the last time I have updated the soft, actually)

    -the WinME machine had problems with hard drive and I had to reinstall the operating system in its partition (the disk is divided into several partitions, and so several logical drives)

    Here's what I've tried so far:

    -Reinstall Palm Desktop original. Shows HotSync icon in the taskbar and the Task Manager indicates that it is running. After pressing the Hotsync button on the cradle, however, nothing happens on WinME. After a bit the Palm IIIc beeps and shows one of his two messages

    -Update Palm Desktop to version 4.14. Same (lack of) lead, even though I had to change the default of USB to serial connection before I could be certain

    -unplugged the power brick and leave the cradle not powered for awhile. When it is plugged in, same result (lack of)

    -install the original Palm Desktop on a second hard drive (the machine has two hard drives now, each with a copy of WinME in a logical drive.) So that only one drive is connected at a given time, however). Same result (lack of)

    -reset the Palm IIIc. Same result (lack of)

    -a pencil eraser new to clean the contacts of the Palm IIIc and the cradle. Gee, they are more clear now, but same result (lack of). Also, after that, I noticed that the bottom of the cradle around the Hotsync button was quite warm enough. Don't know if that was the case after any previous repair attempt.

    My thoughts at the moment are running in the sense that the COM port is somehow wrong, or the serial cable does not get a correct contact with the connector on the motherboard (but he did before, so why not now?). Software, I'm not at all clear on the 'property' thing or if Hotsync really cares yet about that (I can say the name that appears under "owner" on the Palm IIIc is my first name and the first letters of my last name - do not know why the last name isn't here)

    I'm not quite of ideas:

    -get a USB-serial converter and launch Palm Desktop 4.14 under WinME

    -get a USB-serial converter and run some version of Palm Desktop is the best for Windows XP (I have a laptop that is running Windows XP)

    -partition the hard drive of my computer (64-bit) of WinVista, install WinME in the new partition as a dual-boot option, run the original Palm Desktop using the serial port on the computer

    Any thoughts on which (or quite other things) may be more likely to succeed?

    It seems that I finally managed to transfer my update on my Palm 3 c application. It seems that do the same thing again and again wait something different to happen is not as crazy as some would have people think.

    I have clean the contacts on the Plam 3 c and the docking station with 70% isopropyl alcohol. I saw a few recommendations for 90 to 95%, but 70% is all I had on hand. Almost the same result (lack of).

    Because side PC Office wake up for a moment, even if it never got past the first step (no username never showed up, for example).

    Other support button hotsync got zilch.

    But I had seen this now a couple of times before. The common denominator in all cases, is that the Palm 3 c has been out of the cradle for several hours. When it is placed on the base, the first attempt to hotsync caused a reaction on the side office, but no attempt after makes.

    I don't know why this might be important. As far as I know is I put the two 3 c Palm and Hotsync Manager at 9600 baud (common slower speed), the Palm 3 c out of the docking station for hours six or more, put it at left back, pressed, press the hotsync button and watched the awakening PC side and start going through her routine - and this time without stopping.

    At least for a while. HotSync did not actually finish. My app has been downloaded first, but the log shows that, after that several apps integrated tried to synchronize (some did, some do not have), and after that the Palm 3 c tried to download copies of everything he had installed on the PC. He has managed to download several, but not all of them - "lost connection" again.

    I love really on it, partly because I already have copies of everything. I don't like that I finally had my app downloaded update. Because I don't really have a rational explanation, I guess now I have a superstition to follow when I want to download an app!

    I've just updated wo Windows 7 Pro 64 bit.  Because Palm does not support USB synchronization under a 64-bit system, it tells me that I need to create a virtual com port for my bluetooth device to synchronize.  I can't understand how to create this port under Windows 7.

    Hi Sonmox,

    Welcome to the Microsoft Answers site!

    In the Sub in view of the link you need to download the Palm Desktop and HotSync Manager. This software allows you to synchronize your device Palm with your computer, for your info is backed up and easily editable on your computer.

    Visit the following is given link of Palm and configure your Bluetooth device.

    http://KB.Palm.com/wps/portal/KB/common/article/49229_en.html

    When you set up your Palm device to synchronize using Bluetooth technology, you create a 'Bluetooth partnership' between your devices your computer (also known as "pair" or "trusted device"). This allows you to synchronize your device wireless and your computer have to authenticate each other, every time that you synchronize.

  • cant TX new hotsync to transfer former TX Info

    Can anyone help? I'm desperate. I'd be happy to call you if you would be easier to guide me this way.

    I can't get my new (2nd hand) TX synchronize in order to transfer all the info from the old, but I have no former synchronization problem. (the reason why I bought the replacement, it is that the screen on old is down).

    I have Windows 7 and hotsync via WIFI.

    M

    After having unpacked the file manually open installation quick palm on your computer and then drag the file NVBackup in it. Do a hotsync. Even if you have a kindle and your system calls NVBackup a kindle file, it should work. Once it is installed on your old currency you can choose its icon. On the palm screen icon looks like a memory card with the word NVBackup the bottom of it.  If you can't type on it you can select with the keys. It will ask you to accept the terms of the software, and you are going to select Yes. You will choose the new backup. If successful, the backup will take several minutes and do a soft reset of the legacy. Once this is done, you place the old legacy memory card that you ran just NVBackup in the other Palm that you want to use. You open the memory card on your new palm and the program that nvbackup will be there. You run it and select restore and it should take a few minutes to run and do a soft reset on your new currency. At this point, the program is on your new palm and each setting and the program that was on the old currency should be there. It could not be something wrong with your new currency. If you cannot run NVBackup, establishing a first hotsync with wifi is delicate as you probably know.

    I'm guessing that you have a 64 bit system. Correct me if I'm wrong. Did you confirm that you are using windows 7. If none of the previous solutions work you might want to try the 64-bit by Aceeca driver. Last month an advertising motto named Aceeca published a Pocket driver 64-bit windows that works in conjunction with palm desktop and allows cable hotsync on 64-bit windows of manufacturing systems. I have a TX and a desktop windows 7 64 bit and can make a usb cable sync with this new driver. I'm a WyreNuts post with links link and install directions.

  • Z22 will be with Desktop but not Outlook hotsync? Why?

    No device

    Microsoft Outlook has added to my PC, so it would be ready for the possible purchase of the iphone - my first smartphone.  Was so excited that I was able to port over my calendar information and address book of my Palm Z22 to the new smartphone.

    uninstalled (using revouninstaller) Palm Desktop, given that I read that I must have Outlook installed clean install first and necessary to be able to change the method of hotsync from palm desktop to outlook

    Reinstalled 6.2 Palm Desktop and when I got to the screen with the choice between Palm Desktop and Outlook, I clicked on the option I wanted to sync using Outlook.

    First hotsync went to Palm Desktop and Outlook calendar left et al. empty.  ??? Why?

    Even second HotSync problem.  ??? Why?

    Impossible to find anywhere in my hotsync Manager in the office or on the Z22 where I can make changes to the hotsync...

    So now I have handy dandy new version of Palm Desktop which is (still) syncs perfectly with my z22, but doesn't help me prepare for the Iphone, because I will need my calendar/address book/notes data in Microsoft Outlook in order to transfer to the iphone (or any other smartphone also)...

    Just to remind, never had / have problems with the hotsync process, just try to change when the data is intended.

    Using Windows XP and HotSync Manager 7.0.2 and Palm Desktop 6.2 with Palm Z22

    Want to synchronize with Microsoft Outlook 2007 (a SP2 already installed)

    Help!

    I did some research on Google more and FINALLY found some instructions that actually worked!  What are eHow entry titled "How to move a calendar from a Palm Desktop for Outlook".  I did NOT find it directly from Google, but rather as something in another post that brought me kind of by chance for this post...

    Anyway, everyone should carry out this manoeuvre, here are the instructions:

    Go to the start menu and select programs.

    Move the slider to the Palm folder in the menu programs

    Click on the choice "enable the palm outlook conduits".

    Bingo!  He corrects the outlook conduits, and then you are set.

    DON'T FORGET, IF YOU ARE NEW IN OUTLOOK AND YOU WANT TO TRANSFER INFORMATION FROM YOUR PALM, YOU MUST GO INTO MANAGER HOTSYNC IN APPLICATIONS AND ALL SET TO GO THE OFFICE RATHER THAN SYNCHRONIZE POCKET.  synchronize is the default value.  This gives you all this emptiness, that is losing your data... not a good idea.

    Beware that the first synchronization of your handheld to an empty outlook may take time LOOOOONg, if your calendar years ago your Palm like mine don't...

    Now, I have everything in Outlook.

    Case solved!

  • HotSync: Palm Desktop by ACCESS must be closed when running HotSync?

    I just got this Centro by Verizon two days ago.  I realized that Centro or Palm Desktop is updated if the Plam desktop is open or running.  If I close the Desktop and HotSync application, then the Centro and the office are updated.

    Is this a bug?  Or I have to change some set up or something?  The previous version of the Office Plam and Tungsten T obtain upated if the application is running or not.   I wish that the operation of the previous version.  Information, ideas, or comments on this would be appreciated.

    Older versions of palm desktop saved data after you he entered the office. Palm Desktop 6.2 does not have this feature, whenever you put data in palm desktop 6.2 it does not save data until you click on save and then get out of the Office of palm. This is the reason why you can not sync with palm desktop, open any data that has not been registered would theoretically not sync, so to keep him from causing any problems or missing data, it is designed to be closed when HotSync.

    If you need this functionality, you will need to go back to an older version of palm desktop.

  • M505 and Windows Vista synchronization problems

    Hello

    I'm setting up my beloved M505 on my work computer (Vista 32 bit). I downloaded and installed Palm Desktop v6.2.2 and I'm trying to hotsync via docking station. The hotsync process is going through (gives me "hotsync completed successfully" message) but no data gets transferred to the desktop (at least I don't see it in Palm Desktop). I have the exact game even upward at home and everything works well (even if I might have an old version of Palm Desktop at home as I installed maybe last year).

    Please notify.

    Thank you

    Michael.

    End by running the utility when both Palm Desktop and HotSync manager have been closed and it worked. Thank you!

  • Vista & Desktop 6.2 & 7.0 Hotsync problem

    I just bought a new Vista machine and I've tried to install the versions of Vista (6.2) Desktop and Hotsync (7.0), but when I get to the point where the installation is asking me to press the Sync button on my cable, Vista seems unable to locate the driver. Does anyone have a solution for this?

    I am in the same situation as you.  What I found is the there is not a USB driver for the Palm for Vista 64-bit platform.  Without this box, you will be unable to synchronize via USB.

    What I've found, is that Bluetooth is supported.  I have a USB Bluetooth adapter (~ $ 20) and used on my computer and set up my Palm to make a Bluetooth Hotsync.  It worked fine under Vista 64-bit.

  • Palm Z22 vs Windows XP and Windows Vista

    Hello world

    I wonder if someone could help me with a problem I have.

    14 months ago I bought a Z22 and installed on my PC (Windows XP) and added SplashShopper and PowerOne. Everything works great and I was very happy. I used Outlook 2000 to hotsync.

    A few weeks ago Windows XP is slower and slower and he gave me one several times with a 'blue screen '. My expert PC told me that it would be better to get a new PC with Windows Vista Home Premium. I followed his advice. I used Outlook 2000 for my emails and the Palm. Since I knew that I would have problems with Outlook 2000 on Windows Vista, I have changed on the XP for Palm Desktop machine. Again, which works perfectly.

    I thought that I could now just install the Palm (from the CDRom) software on the (new) PC running Vista, add SplashShopper and PowerOne and hotsync with the Z22. But it simply doesn't. The manual does not seem to help me either.

    Could you help me?

    When you have removed the software did you uninstall clean, meaning did you just use the uninstall utility or you ip off thr reg key also. Here are the instructions on how to do it if you feel
    you're not sure of yourself, see if you have a friend who can help you or a
    PC technician that you can pay to help you.

    You should first make a copy of your data to have just in case something
    is happening. You can find your data files by going to C:\Program Files\Palm or
    A Palm. Highlight your Palm Desktop user name and right click and copy.
    Then, go to the desktop of your PC, right-click on a blank spot block and select.

    Now you want to uninstall Palm Desktop and remove anything that has to do
    with Palm Desktop on your computer. As the folder above, remove the Palm folder. Once done,
    You must delete some registry keysfrom your PC operating system registry.

    Word of warning, go here and removing the wrong thing can cause your PC
    No start, crashing and deleting programs and data. If you feel
    you're not sure of yourself, see if you have a friend who can help you or a
    PC technician that you can pay to help you. This will show them all
    Should be deleted. To keep your current registry settings, we have a backup of the registry.

    On the PC, go to start and run Type "regedit" without the quotes

    Select WORKSTATION, browse to the file--> export. Should appear with a save as
    box. Current place of residence is very well should be in My Documents, or you can change in a location that you will remember.
    In the file name box, type "Regbackup [todaysdate]" i.e. Regbackup07072008. Then, the most difficult part.

    The best way to ensure that your work with the right key, select the key that is quick to the palm,
    and press DELETE on your keyboard. You will be asked, you of course. Say Yes. Do the same for all the keys below.

    If you make a mistake, stop what you are doing. And call a PC technician.
    BUT do not turn off your computer.

    The reg keys are as follows (Note: some of the theses reg keys won't be here)
    But if they remove them)

    * Installation quick HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\U.S. Robotics\Palm
    * Transfer of files Robotics\PalmOne HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\U.S.
    * Robotics\Pilot Office of HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\U.S.
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Palm
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Palm, Inc.
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\PalmDesktopAutorun
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\palmOne
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\PalmSource
    * HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\PalmSource or anything else that says palm

    Then restart your computer

    Then, reinstall your Palm desktop from the CD and do a hotsync. If she asks
    for a user name and you synchronized your device before you put "test" If you "
    no sync before creating a hotsync name.

    hope this helps, good luck

  • TX don't hotsync with XP Pro

    Having problems with a TX that I bought for my wife the year last for Christmas.  Unit of will not hotsync... and hasn't for months.  Have tried all the items listed in article id: 2630 nothing helps.  You have uninstalled thus not palm desktop and reinstalled.  My Tx is detected and listed in the hardware Manager when you plug it in (I use a usb cable in a well known port) and disappears when unplug you the unit.  The tone which lets you know that the usb device is detected as well.  By pressing the hotsync button is not showing the hotsync window... I only hear the tone of my handheld and see "UserID" displayed on the handheld during the hotsync process and "the connection between your device and the desktop could not be established. Error if please check your configuration and try again. ». Local - cable/dock is selected in the Pocket and hotsync manager.  All this happened when the discs that I got my data is dead and I couldn't synchronize.  So I have, at some point, the TX actually timing out of my network... which worked well.  But now it's back to not sync at all.  I spent more time on synchronization of this device that the construction of my last computer!  Whereas hard reset but don't want to lose more data.  Thanks for any help!

    OK... finally able to hotsync over network and via USB cable.  Had to set the port speed to 9600 by article ID #1409 com... He took off and was able to synchronize without any problem... network synchronize now also works too.  Will this affect my sync speed?  I was wondering why he would not automatically negotiate and choose the right speed on its own!
