M40X-175 of freezing on the way of stand-by

Hello

I had to replace the hard drive of my M40X-175. The new disc has Win XP Pro SP2 is installed and this system, after the PnP - ing and manually install the software Toshiba, works very well. The only problem seems to be that standby does not at all.

Here's what it looks like: I send the laptop to the stand-by mode, the XP says she is about to go on the stand-by, yet unsaved data are emptied on the hard disk, the screen turns off, and then the process stops. It's the mouse, HARD drive, keyboard, fan and probably something else stop. The power button is still blue, without blinking. The laptop does not respond to anything except a 5-sec power button push, which she died.

Any ideas on what might be the cause of this problem of sleep and how to fix it?

Thank you
Vlad

Hello

It seems that the problem started after installing the new software.
In my opinion, you can try to install the new Toshiba Power Saver Utility (V1.31.0.5C) and Power Saver Driver (V7.03.06C).

Good luck

Good bye

  • Satellite R830 random freeze with no way to take back control - full fan speed

    Hello
I've been Googling autour for a bit now, looking for a solution to what could be a hardware problem.

Randomly my Satellite R830 suddenly freezes and the speed of the fan running at full speed. It's actually a useful way to be immediately aware that my computer crashed. Everything is frozen, the only way out is to force via the power button.

I hit the same description on several Web site for different models of Toshiba, return of 2009. It seems that the problem is still there! I also read testimonials from this problem for Windows and Linux OS. I use a Debian Squeeze, which does not detect the newspaper when the accident occurred.

Sometimes it can be fine for a week, but recently, the computer freeze at least once a day, which is not acceptable for a new laptop.

I am really getting concerned if something will be done soon, or if I should ask for an Exchange and pray to be spared. I use my laptop on a daily basis for professional use, and so I would definitely prefer another solution. I have been waiting for 4 months now and just update my BIOS 3 days ago from Web site of Toshiba with no noticeable improvement. the computer crashed 4 times in the last 2 days.

If someone managed to overcome this problem, I would be very grateful for the tip!

  • Satellite M40X-175: widescreen driver

Nice press release on the widescreen technology

However, I have lived the next bad thing with a purchased M40X-175 on 08/04/2005

Out of the box the screen 1280 x 800 was only recognized and drives like a screen of 1024 x 768, leaving the bottom lines 32 with random data and half black right.

I have described this problem clearly enough for the helpdesk to the Netherlands, but they could not solve the problem in 2 sessions paid upport (0.5 Euro / minute) about 40 minutes total and about hours-3 man of my site. Support staff had never heard of this problem? !!!

After reinstalling the recovery cd is still not luck.

That I noticed that there is an upgrade of the bios of the 26/07/2005. However there is no rejection note on the bios (obviously to avoid lawsuits against toshiba) I decided to update the bios. To my surprise, every thing seems to be ok now! (This should have been answered in 5 minutes by support in my opinion because it is impossible that only my laptop is wrong...)

The biggest problem now is marketing strategy. Although all points are now led Windows XP is always grateful screen 1024 x 768 but the format of the screen is now extended to 1280 x 800 but I expect the real resolution of 1280 x 800. I think Toshiba must create a special monitor XP driver for the LCD for this resolution or someone has another solution?

    Hello Peter

As far as I know all the drivers, tools and utilities designed for any laptop model are tested until the unit turns to production. It also means that all the tested drivers are integrated into the recovery image.

Sometimes you can see a black border on the screen, but it can be solved by changing setting called BIOS display stretching. It will be interesting to know what resolution showed after the first start.

  • 6910p hang/freeze on the screen of the POST to the linux reboot.

Hello, I'm new here, with a 6910p and a very specific question that's bugging me.

Laptop was purchased refurbished a few days with Windows 7 and works very well.

Almost immediately, I have installed Linux, try OpenSUSE, Ubuntu and Debian so far, and if I issue a reboot it always freezes at the POSITION screen, the one with the HP logo next. Stop down and cold boot however still works perfectly.

Restart the work as expected to Win XP, Vista and 7, but not Linux. Tried three different internal hard drives, flashed the BIOS six or seven times of XP and Vista (e.17 and F.19 versions alternating), and what annoys me more, is that I can't find an option in the BIOS to disable the HP splash screen and more I can not turn it off, I'm sure he's hiding vital information that lead to my success. I'm bugged.

I would like to know if you have any idea about this problem, I think if maybe that linux is not giving enough time for a device to stop and restart, or something on this line, but the truth is that I am lost on the high seas, and I fear that it might be a symptom of a defective hardware. Also give up on linux would be a bad option, because I need the multi-user environment, multilingual and virtually every machine other that I'm running a linux distribution.

And if you know how to remove the HP logo at the position screen, I would be grateful, it is possible on my pavilion desktop computer, but I can't find the same option in the BIOS of the 6910p.

    Lots of love

    Michael

Edit 1: Disable the BIOS flash card reader solved the problem. Now on to understand what Windows and Linux is not to make it work without restart was. Guess I still need to post on this forum to group ideas

Edit 2: card reader Flash active and empty does not restart. Compatible with a card inside will be bork. It's so much easier when you know where to look. Namely etc etc...

This mark as resolved: reboot did wait a few seconds so that everything has shut down, and discovered that there is no way to disable the HP logo at another startup then by modding the BIOS.

  • Satellite A200 - STARTING problems, freezes on the connection of the power adapter

My 3 YO A200 (PSAF3A-08202D has developed a problem with starting.
I can start on battery power with WINDOWS VISTA BUSINESS (after 10 attempts, but freezes immediately when the power adapter is plugged in.)
Display sometimes boots wide-screen, but mostly freezes before windows welcome.

When running, the battery produces about 1 to 2 hours before a complete evacuation.
When executing a battery, computer freezes when I plug Charger AC/DC immediately and going with my A100 charger as an alternative.

Initial problem was a faulty hard drive and super hot air flow due to fluff the cooling block fan.
Tech replaced original 120G HDD with 500 G and reloaded at the factory. works well for 3 months, then started with the same problems so conclude original disk HARD was just a secondary issue.

So maybe fixed I overheated components on the motherboard. Reset of data cards initially fixed a problem starting but is gradually degraded.

Reading through the forums seems that there is a huge amount of these laptops with similar issues. Is this a design flaw, like my other Satellite A100 is solid as a rock. All forums, which suggests resetting the cpu is running slow or be disconnected seem to be temporary repairs. Boot in safe mode and reset the default settings have no effect.

A suggestion that a capacitor is at fault seems to be the fix is valid but which involves specialized tools is not available locally. Local agent of Harvey Norman for Toshiba are best part of unnecessary because they can send in Australia from Toshiba. Machine has been close to $2000 and is now worth Zip.

I am unable to do anything with this machine, as all the ways of upgrading or resetting calls for AC power available and running.

I'm about to do radical things and hope that this forum can enlighten us.

    Hi Mickaël

You might be right. It seems that the motherboard is affected.
Don't know why but higher temperature can still affect the internal parts.
The temperature may increase if cooling fans n t working correctly. For example dust or debris leads to a higher temperature because cooling air cannot circulate properly.

I have to clean my laptop's cooling grilles from time to time using a jet of compressed air. This allows to keep the temperature at the lower level.
Of course the internal temperature is not always a reason for portable computers hardware malfunction equipment can begin to malfunction as always in an other products too: TVs, cars, game consoles

I bought an extended warranty for my laptop, also for my LCD TV mercy always if a high-end product begin to malfunction and in the case of a warranty claim, the fault can be fixed free of charge.

  • Satellite P300-h-13: stops, restarts itself and then freezes in the BIOS

    Hello

    I have a laptop TOSHIBA SATELITE P300-h-13.
When I turn it on, it starts before blocking immediately down and then it restarts itself (twice).

Then it freezes in THOSHIBA default start screen.
I can't access BIOS (says it charges but nothing happens).

If I press the ESC key, I got a screen saying that the processor is detected and it gives me the ability to L2 cache, it says the RAM passed and then it indicates that the Bios system & video are overshadowed.

I tried without the battery, but it doesn't change anything.

Please help me solve this problem on.
    Thank you!

    Hello

I don't know why this is happening and it's really strange question that should not happen on the new laptop.
In such situations, you can simply try standard measures and see if it will work properly again.

By the way: how old is your laptop? Have you noticed this behavior from the first day?

In any case, try to enter in the BIOS somehow and set it to default settings. try to enter Advanced boot options using F8 at the start and check if the installation of operating system work (during the first backup of data, if possible).

If nothing helps I would recommend not to do anything, but contact the nearest authorized service provider. Let them check your laptop computer and, if necessary, repair. Warranty will cover all costs.

  • Freezes and the screen turns after stopping

    Hello

I'm having a lot of trouble with my iMac, Retina early 2015, and I can't understand what is wrong with it. The problem is that if I use the mac for a period of time, it can sometimes be almost a whole day, at other times, it may be an hour. It has all suddenly freezes them completely and the only way to get it to work is to make a difficult stop (hold the power button until it turns off).

But when I try to turn the screen does not light. And I still have to make a hard, sometimes stop, it takes about 5 - 6 times before the screen lights up. And if the problem occurred once and I try to use the Mac immediately after, it freezes in the first 10 minutes, and the whole procedure must be repeated for another 10 minutes of use. The only way for it to not freeze is if I use it for like a day, but it gives me only about 3-4 hours before the problem occurs.

I sent it to a repair shop for repair, I thought that maybe it's the hard drive. They ran a few test Apple and was told that it is not the hardware, but the software causing the problem. Then they plant restores and gives back to me. But it does not solve the problem.

Any thoughts on what could be the cause of this?

Vista and Windows 7 updated drivers love then here's how update the most important.

This is my generic how updates of appropriate driver:

This utility, it is easy see which versions are loaded:

-Free - DriverView utility displays the list of all device drivers currently loaded on your system.
For each driver in the list, additional useful information is displayed: load address of the driver,
Description, version, product name, company that created the driver and more.
    http://www.NirSoft.NET/utils/DriverView.html

For drivers, visit manufacturer of emergency system and of the manufacturer of the device that are the most common.
Control Panel - device - Graphics Manager - note the brand and complete model
your video card - double - tab of the driver - write version information. Now, click on update
Driver (this can do nothing as MS is far behind the certification of drivers) - then right-click.
Uninstall - REBOOT it will refresh the driver stack.

Repeat this for network - card (NIC), Wifi network, sound, mouse, and keyboard if 3rd party
with their own software and drivers and all other main drivers that you have.

Now in the system manufacturer (Dell, HP, Toshiba as examples) site (in a restaurant), peripheral
Site of the manufacturer (Realtek, Intel, Nvidia, ATI, for example) and get their latest versions. (Look for
BIOS, Chipset and software updates on the site of the manufacturer of the system here.)

Download - SAVE - go to where you put them - right click - RUN AD ADMIN - REBOOT after
    each installation.

Always check in the Device Manager - drivers tab to be sure the version you actually install
presents itself. This is because some restore drivers before the most recent is installed (sound card drivers
in particular that) so to install a driver - reboot - check that it is installed and repeat as
    necessary.

Repeat to the manufacturers - BTW in the DO NOT RUN THEIR SCANNER device - check
    manually by model.

Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.

My 64 GB coming 8 Pro has been updated to the latest version of Windows 10 build 10856 version 1511. When I try to start it, the safe freezes to the lockscreen, screen you get before the connection. Plus, the lockscreen is in Portrait mode, even if the Tablet is placed in the landscape.

I can't connect to the Tablet, and as it is, it is only good as a paperweight. Any ideas on how can this be repaired?

I love the Tablet and use it all the time. Help, please.

    DanielNTX,

I thought about your response and realizing that I have the team spirit on the Tablet, I decided to try to connect remotely with the tablet. I was able to connect, and a simple mouse click got me to the login page. Apparently, the 5830 Chipset Driver_67YC3_WIN32_603.9600.2067.27988.A00. Somehow, EXE has stopped working properly. Fortunately, I had saved a copy of this driver and reinstalled, and now the Tablet works fine.

While this was not the way you suggested, I think that using the OTG cable and a usb hub, I perhaps was able to connect a mouse and a keyboard for the Tablet and have solved this way.

Thanks for your suggestion. Problem solved.

  • My Blackberry Smartphones BlackBerry keeps freezing on the loading page!

Hi, I had my blackberry for a few months and only recently has he is not able to go beyond the black screen with "blackberry" and the loading on it bar!

I tried to delete a contact from my bbm status thing and it just cut off! The gray loading bar constantly freezes three-quarters of the way along and does not move further.

I tried many things, but none have worked, I was wondering if anyone knows how to move and stop it to halfway along the bar of freezing?

    Thank you very much.

Hi and welcome to the Forums!

Since you did not specify on what you have tried, we risk redundant advice. So, the first thing is... at all times a random strange behavior or slow creeps, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the hood back and remove the battery. Wait a minute, then replace the battery and cover. Power on and wait patiently through the long reboot - about 5 minutes. See if things return to functioning. Like all computing devices, BB suffers from memory leaks and others... with a hard reboot is the best remedy.

If it does not, then do it again, but leave the battery for at least 10 minutes. Makes no sense, I know... but sometimes it helps.

If who does not work, then please clarify exactly what you were doing... "remove someone from my bbm status thing and just cut" is not terribly useful for diagnosis... Please be as precise and detailed as you can be.

    Best!
