6910p hang/freeze on the screen of the POST to the linux reboot.

Hello, I'm new here, with a 6910p and a very specific question that's bugging me.

Laptop was purchased refurbished a few days with Windows 7 and works very well.

Almost immediately, I have installed Linux, try OpenSUSE, Ubuntu and Debian so far, and if I issue a reboot it always freezes at the POSITION screen, the one with the HP logo next. Stop down and cold boot however still works perfectly.

Restart the work as expected to Win XP, Vista and 7, but not Linux. Tried three different internal hard drives, flashed the BIOS six or seven times of XP and Vista (e.17 and F.19 versions alternating), and what annoys me more, is that I can't find an option in the BIOS to disable the HP splash screen and more I can not turn it off, I'm sure he's hiding vital information that lead to my success. I'm bugged.

I would like to know if you have any idea about this problem, I think if maybe that linux is not giving enough time for a device to stop and restart, or something on this line, but the truth is that I am lost on the high seas, and I fear that it might be a symptom of a defective hardware. Also give up on linux would be a bad option, because I need the multi-user environment, multilingual and virtually every machine other that I'm running a linux distribution.

And if you know how to remove the HP logo at the position screen, I would be grateful, it is possible on my pavilion desktop computer, but I can't find the same option in the BIOS of the 6910p.

Lots of love

Michael

Edit 1: Disable the BIOS flash card reader solved the problem. Now on to understand what Windows and Linux is not to make it work without restart was. Guess I still need to post on this forum to group ideas

Edit 2: card reader Flash active and empty does not restart. Compatible with a card inside will be bork. It's so much easier when you know where to look. Namely etc etc...

This mark as resolved: reboot did wait a few seconds so that everything has shut down, and discovered that there is no way to disable the HP logo at another startup then by modding the BIOS.

My laptop HP DV4-2167sb hangs at the HP logo screen.  I tried all the solutions listed on the site of HP (power reset, battery, cmos, memory, others work hard, Flash BIOS, etc.)  I tried the official DVD of the HP system recovery (Windows 7 Recovery for Windows 7 media products), but the system crashes and does not start the DVD.

Here's the strange part.  If I remove the hard drive I can get into the BIOS.

The laptop only starts from linux CD if there is a bootable USB device attached (i.e. the USB stick with linux, ipod, etc.)  Here are the scenarios and messages when errors occur.

Someone has an idea of what could be the problem.  I think it may be the hard disk controller, but I do not know how to test for a bad controller.

    -James

I finally understood the problem of the drive not being not well.  Bezel plastic of the SATA connector in the bottom Bay low.

The SATA connector in the hard drive Bay did not have contact with the pins on the hard drive.  It seems that the bottom bezel plastic of the SATA connector in the Bay was small and sagging.  That's why he provided enough support for the disk hard so that the connector pins make contact.

I cut a small piece of rigid plastic and inserted into the lower part of the plastic bezel.  It has provided support and the pins on the hard disk to make contact with the SATA connector pins.

My hard drive is now recogonized and works perfectly.

    Hello Kluggerjo,

Thank you for reaching out to the Community Support from Apple. I know how important it must be able to count on your devices work as expected, and I have a few steps that should help resolve the behaviors you see.

I would recommend to go by resetting your management system (SCM) controller. MSC helps control and regulate different material on your Mac, including Bluetooth systems.  This article will guide you in this process: reset the management system (SCM) controller on your Mac.

If you still experience the issue after the test, you can test the behavior to a test user. This will help us to determine if the problem is systemic or isolated to your user account. This article will guide you in this process: How to test a question in another account on your Mac user

If the behavior is duplicated to the test user, I'd recommend reinstalling El Capitan. This will not delete your data. To reinstall using the recovery mode, take a look at this article: How to reinstall OS X

My iPhone freeze with grey screen, then restart only. Subsequently the Wifi is not available, I have to finish manually restart to be able to use the Wifi. I have restart my internet and network settings, but the problem is still there.

    Hi there Turco911,

Looks like your screen goes gray and then shuts down its own, and you must manually restart to get the wifi to work again. I save your device in iTunes, then restore it like new and verify that it works.

How to clear your iOS device and then set up as a new device or restore from backups

If this is the case, restore your backup either check it still works and just reinstalled software or circumvent the problem in the backup file itself.

If when restored like new the problem persists, I would ask for your phone service:

OK, so I have the Toshiba Satellite L405D-11V, I had a breakdown, basically, the computer freezes at any time and the screen would go black, with the fan and lights still ongoing, this could be at the start, or a few hours using the laptop, so I decided to ring Toshiba technology support and they arranged for my laptop to collect and be expelled for repairs.

I was able to track repairs online via the tracking service and was able to see what they were doing to my laptop, he said that they have ordered a part, it was underway and the repairs are completed.

However, I got the laptop back today, I turn it on, all right, I start using the cell phone that everything is fine, so I decide to watch a video on youtube, and it freezes again, so I turned off now pressed the power button, hoping he wasn't that a large, I turn back to and load the video once again it freezes and the screen goes black again, after that whenever I am watching a video or a game, it causes the computer to crash and freeze as before the repairs. So there is always a mistake, but I'm not sure what to do

Its still under warranty, I bought the laptop from the Comet, but I really don't want to send the laptop for repairs again and find it comes back with the same fault, is it interesting sending distributed, maybe see if the comet will replace the laptop as its still less than a year to buy the laptop, or it'll just be useful to save all the hassle and buy a new laptop? If this fault happened to someone else, I could use you some help, and if someone could shed some light regarding what could be bad?

    Hey Buddy,

You changed something on the configuration after you got your notebook back from repair? You update a driver, or something else?
What operating system you use on your L405D satellite?

To be honest it is really hard to say why it happens because technicians test to check if your laptop is running correctly.

In my opinion you should try to update the display driver. Maybe it's the origin of the problem of s
If this isn't the case, I recommend installing Windows from Toshiba Recovery disk to restore to factory settings. These parameters are pre-tested by Toshiba and should work.

If you still have the problem, you must contact the technicians again. I mean you could track the online repair and according to your assignment, everything worked well during repair, so in my opinion he should t be a problem to contact guys exactly.

  • Satellite L750 - Win7 freeze on the frequently start screen

Hi, my L750 was having this gel on the problem starting frequently in the past few days (almost 2 / 3 times), he just stopped just before the logo windows would load. at first he would continue to run after, I moved the mouse or press a key, but today would not work these tricks.

I have to press the power button to force the reboot and it show a window repair option, I've chosen, then the freeze after the disappearance of process bar (so don't empty screen and nothing, no disc hard processor or light), strength to restart again and it starts okay this time.

No idea what could be the problem here?

We don t know what you are doing with your laptop and what is the configuration of the OS, is not easy to say what can be the problem.

If this problem occurs only a few days, try to start the operating system in safe mode and roll back the BONES of a few days using System Restore tool.

  • Satellite Pro 6000 freezes and the screen is weird random pattern

    Hello

I recently bought a SP6000 second-hand advertised as having "graphics problems". After 10 minutes or use the laptop freezes and the screen has a strange random pattern all acorss it. The speakers are also a strange hum. I have to stop the laptop and restart.

I've updated the bios and drivers for card video from the toshiba site, but he always does. Can anyone help?

    Hello

It's not easy to say why this problem occurs. You have purchased a second hand unit. It is possible that your device has a hardware malfunction, but I can't give you an answer why it is happening. I suppose that temperature increases after 10 min of use.
Maybe this could be a problem. It could also be a fault of the motherboard. But these are just suggestions. In my opinion, you should ask the service for detailed information.

  • Freezes and the screen turns after stopping

    Hello

I'm having a lot of trouble with my iMac, Retina early 2015, and I can't understand what is wrong with it. The problem is that if I use the mac for a period of time, it can sometimes be almost a whole day, at other times, it may be an hour. It has all suddenly freezes them completely and the only way to get it to work is to make a difficult stop (hold the power button until it turns off).

But when I try to turn the screen does not light. And I still have to make a hard, sometimes stop, it takes about 5 - 6 times before the screen lights up. And if the problem occurred once and I try to use the Mac immediately after, it freezes in the first 10 minutes, and the whole procedure must be repeated for another 10 minutes of use. The only way for it to not freeze is if I use it for like a day, but it gives me only about 3-4 hours before the problem occurs.

I sent it to a repair shop for repair, I thought that maybe it's the hard drive. They ran a few test Apple and was told that it is not the hardware, but the software causing the problem. Then they plant restores and gives back to me. But it does not solve the problem.

Any thoughts on what could be the cause of this?

  • Computer hangs on a white screen on startup with the keyboard is plugged.

Original title: I have a problem starting

I have a problem when I start my pc with my internet stick plugged and it hangs on a white screen. I have to get the key out and close my pc and reboot to get to the screen to login manually.

This also happens randomly - some days it just starts with the key and the other days he dislikes the key and goes to blank screen.

Why is this randomly - this is my question? If the settings are the same so why did happen randomly instead of blocking me or just start every time? Why is it random?

    Equipped with Vista

    Hi donga65,

    • To go through the other advice?

Try Method 1 to downstairs, go to the method 2 If this does not resolve the issue.

Method 1: You can update the drivers for the computer to check the issue. Log on to the manufacturer's Web site and install all the device driver updates including the chipset. See if it helps.

Method 2: Make sure that the BIOS (Basic Input\Output System) is not altered. Check the boot sequence and make sure that the hard drive is the first boot device. Check with the manufacturer for more details.

Important: Change (CMOS) BIOS/complementary metal oxide semiconductor settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Changes to settings are at your own risk.

    I hope this helps.
