M9X68AV - HP ENVY 17 t-n100: My Mute button light Don't Come On... but Mute function work

I see other people are having this same problem.  Me you can point you in the right direction to solve this problem.

I had a problem with "display driver stopped responding and has recovered.  Display driver Intel HD Graphics Drivers for Windows 8 (R) stopped responding and has successfully recovered. "I contacted the HP Support and they ran a BIOS update and removed my NVIDIA driver and install the driver of Intel HD.  The next morning, the mute led will not come.

If you can help, I will HERE it.

Thank you

Hello

Driving down features are provided by the audio software.  Try to reinstall the Realtek HD Audio software at the following link.

http://ftp.HP.com/pub/SoftPaq/sp72001-72500/sp72117.exe

When reinstalling, restart the laptop.

  • Envy 17 t N100 CTO: HPservice.exe

    Hello

One wonders about this HPservice.exe file. Some sites claim the exe should not be there and it is a virus. I just got a new cell phone Envy 17 t n100 CTO with pre-installed Win 10. I just started loading software. System Mechanic it reported as dangerous and wants to remove it.

If it is a legitimate file HP should talk with SM and do it on a white list to stop the warnings.

    Any help will be appreciated.

    Thank you, John

    Hi John,.

I think that you will find the file is legitimate and related to the (HP 3D DriveGuard) HARD disk protection software, but you can check it as follows.

Right-click on an empty area of the taskbar, and select Task Manager.

If not already selected, click on more details in the lower left.

The process selected, tab click the 'Name' column header to reorder the processes in alphabetical order.

Right-click on the entry for HpService and select open file location.

This should open the System32 folder at the entrance of hpservice already highlighted.

This right click and select Properties.  Select the Details tab and you should see the name of the product listed as "Mobile Data Protection System" - there should also be a tab for Digital Signatures.  If this is the case, the process is owned by HP 3D DriveGuard and is a legitimate file.

  • Envy 17 t n100: help adding 2nd drive 256 GB SATA SSD (TLC) m2

    Hi all

I'm a noob advanced and need some advice and assistance, I just bought an n-100 Envy 17 t. Lack of resources, I don't have the 2nd drive 256Go M.2 SATA SSD (TLC) or pull the memory up to 16 GB max. Memory should be 1 stick of 8 Go DDR3L-1600 to max the16GB?

    Here are my specs.

    murrayotl

Put simply, assuming you want to migrate to Windows from the HARD drive of 1 TB to a 256 GB SSD, there is no simple way to do it.

The best way to do it, as I've done several times, is to use a third party called Macrium Reflect application.  It's free and will lets you clone (1) a drive - make an exact copy of a disc on another and (2) image/restore disks - a copy of a disc and then copy on a second disc.

If you can climb both drives at the same time, then (1) is the way to go.  Otherwise, to do (2), you must clone the drive to an external drive, plug the new external drive and then 'restore' from the hard drive to the new drive.

When the first doping, select the option "Backup--> Image disks selected" to clone the current drive to the new drive.

When you do the second, select "Create an image of the partition (s) required to backup and restore Windows" to write a full backup to an external drive or USB key

The PROBLEM you have is that a partition of 1 TB is wrong simply to fit on a disk of 250 GB - if you have work to do.  You should run Disk Manager to narrow down the OS partition to be used in total less than 250 GB of disk space.

You can run the Windows disk management by following the steps below:

    (1) Control Panel to type in the search box

    2) click on Control Panel

    3) click on Administrative Tools

    4) click on disk management

Once there, you will see the list of partitions.  Select the one which contains the OS (or great) and see how you can reduce it.  On the 1 TB drive, you will have to drop below 200 GB - to be sure.

The PC will then probably need to reboot to make the changes.

Once you have restarted in Win10, install Macrium Reflect - and follow the instructions I left above.

Once the migration is completed, stop your PC, replace the SSD HARD drive and reboot.

If all goes well, you should start in Win10 without any problem.

    Good luck

  • HP Envy 17 t-n100 (NOU68AV): adding a 2nd SSD to a HP Envy 17 t

I installed a second (PNY CS1311 960 GB) SSD in my HP Envy 17 t, which is not always recognized.  After the initial installation, I could see in disk management, create a new simple volume and mount it as a record.  Everything worked well.  After the first reboot, the volume was missing and I was unable to find it in disk management.  I removed the DDI and connected using a USB/SATA cable.  The volume is good, so I figured that the internal SATA cable was bad.  I ordered a new one and installed, but the drive has not yet been recognized.  I double checked the cable and it was installed correctly.  After a few reboots suddenly the drive has been recognized again.  I was able to use the volume until the next reboot, when he disappeared again.  Any idea what might cause this behavior?

I cloned the original 1 TB 5400 RPM HARD drive on a new CS1311 of PNY 120 GB SSD.  I wanted to have the OS and applications on the 120 GB and add the PNY CS1311 960 GB SSD in the 2nd Bay for all my other files that I also have off-site backup.  Given that the laptop can see the 2nd occasionally by car, I cloned the original HDD to the 960 GB SSD.  The laptop works fine with just the 960 GB SSD in the first Bay.  This isn't the configuration I wanted, but it will work.

  • Envy 17 K205nl: Envy 17 k205nl driver (audio Beats + buttons) page

    Hello

I bought a brand new Envy 17 K205nl a few days ago and downgraded to windows 7 SP1 x 64 (cloned my old HDD, since I haven't the time to reinstall everything)

I managed to install all the drivers properly, but I now have 2 things missing:

-Audio work but no Beats Audio and speakers are very weak without it...

    HDAUDIO\FUNC_01 & VEN_10EC & DEV_0290 & SUBSYS_103C229D & REV_1000 and

    HDAUDIO\FUNC_01 & VEN_8086 & DEV_2808 & SUBSYS_80860101 & REV_1000 (why I have 2 sound cards, audio bt + Nvidia audio?)

-Function buttons (they do not work properly, but I have no GUI and my bright orange F6 Mute button lights when you press on)

Thanks in advance for any help!

p.s. This page: http://support.hp.com/it-it/drivers/selfservice/HP-ENVY-17-Notebook-PC-series/7527536/model/7633630#... shows no driver/software for my laptop, for the two windows 7 or 8.

    Thank you for the update!

For more information, the HP System Event (sp71156) utility works also under windows 7. My button mute is now illuminated pressed orange, but still no GUI with the exception of the FN + ESC which displays now system information correctly.

Installs the audio software (sp69618) and now I get the Panel audio beats up & running as well as the key FN + B.

    Extra:

Setup HP Coolsense gives an error during installation, may be missing some required software but I don't have any additional info.

    Perfect!

  • Mute function button works only on Satelite A660

    Hello

I couldn't do the button mute to work. The flight of the up/down button, the toshiba buletin Board, play/pause, wifi and eco button works. I couldn't find the software that controls the function keys. Does anyone know how to configure it? Previously on my old Satelite M50, there was a software toshiba utility that allows users to configure each button.

I found that the Toshiba software utilities help button, but not the Mute button. I found the TBSsoundMute file in the Progrm files/Toshiba/SCT/and clicking on the file makes the mute sound. How can I associate the button mute for the file? The only thing that happens when I press the button mute is the buttons all light which I think is related to the Dimmer.exe software.

I managed to work the button replace the Dimmer function with the software of mute, now mute button, but the dim buttons not now. I don't know if it is the default settings. Is there a way to mute and dim at the same time? So people will know it mutes and dims.

You can set the key Mute or Dim.
The two of them at the same time is not possible!

So I think the thread is answered.

  • Satellite A660: Comment and a question about button lighting / mute

    Note:

Hi, I'm the proud owner of a satellite A660-166 (3 days) and I installed everything from scratch on the win 7 pro because I got my laptop with a home (need pro for work) version... I met some problems, but this forum really answered my questions :) Never found such a useful for technical support forum. I wanted to express my gratitude and my support for everything you do for users :)

Problem: well, this isn't really a problem, more a curiosity... I had a few problems with the key eco, at this time there button lighting / mute was to mute... Thank you guys, I found out what needed to be done, I reinstalled the Flash card software and everything worked properly more the lighting button / mute has been for enlightenment now. I have nothing against that, I prefer it like this, but I wonder how to change that... I found some response on the use of toshiba wireless Assistant and the illumination tab... Because my laptop is fairly new, that I do not have a tab of enlightenment, I was wondering how to change the mute button if I want to?

Thanks, keep up the good work!

It's nice to hear that you found answers to your questions here. Many people here trying to help.

Back to your question: it is not easy to give a precise answer and I really put t know if you can change the settings of a single button. I think it has something to do with the registry entries, but how to change, that's another question.

If you use this button for lighting ON / OFF, you can use FN + ESC for the mute button so you have two options that can be used with a touch or quick key combination.
Can you please test and confirm that it works correctly?

  • Envy 15 BEATS 3040NR audio dial/button replacement

I got this laptop from a friend for free, it is out of warranty and I had the problem of button sticking audio BEATS feared the second time I tried to turn on the laptop. It seems quite common problem and I basically disconnected the button/wheel of the motherboard, but now does work ' t sound. So either I replace with a basic resistance or replace the button or live without the sound.    Everyone there is cavalier it with resistance so that sound works or has someone paid for a button in replacement of HP, if so, how much is?  I guess I can control the sound via the software so I could no less care on the dial. And I can't turn the sound enabled/disabled via the software as well. I'm not a gamer, so the only thing I really want to use the sound is for pandora, music, MP3s, etc...

    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/notebook-hardware/HP-envy-15-3012tx-beats-volume-dial-button-gets-stuck/m-p/1920881

OK, managed to fix the stuck button then I plugged the ribbon cable in my motherboard and it seems to be good. The dial still works to control the volume, but I dare not ever push this button again. I presume that it must toggle something related to audio. (I haven't watched what he does (another completely screw up the phone when he's stuck!).

I followed the instructions above to remove the three screws philip head and uses a very small allen key to force the switch to be stuck.  No amount of banging or dismiss or even the lubricant of bicycle chain should take off the top for me button.

I recently ordered this ssd sata m2 of amazon, but I'm not sure its compatible with my system - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00TGIW1XG?psc=1 & redirect = true & ref_ = oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00.

Its a Samsung 850 500 GB M.2 3.5 inch SSD Form Factor 80nm.  Can I use in a configuration to double for my laptop with the current 5400 RPM 1 TB HARD drive already in the system?  Or do I have to use one or the other?  Or can I select a smaller SSD storage for a double configuration?  I have to talk to a technician and he said my system does not support a 128 GB ssd and it did not indicate if it is a double or a single disk configuration.  In my view, it is difficult to imaging a new desire to 2015 with an i7 Quad Core skylake 6700HQ processor supports only a meagre 128 GB SSD.  Any ideas on what my system can support?

I can verify that it works very well. I had HP technology insist that I could use only one hard disk and a maximum capacity of 128 GB. The technicians don't know squat. I use now a configuration double with the operating system and my programs on my 850 m2 sata evo III 500 GB SSD and my data (videos, music and photos) files on the preinstalled 5400 RPM 1 TB HARD drive.

  • HP Envy 17 t-n100 CTO: my usable laptop Samsung 950 Series PCIe x 4 Pro (Gen 3), NVMe as boot drive?

Just bought HP Envy 17 ", 17 t-n100. Originally, it is equipped with a 512 GB SSD, the m2, the sata3. I want to update Samsung SSD 950 Pro Series, 256 GB, PCIe NVM, m2 and use it as a boot drive. Is it possible for this laptop?

    * In terms of hardware, this laptop computer motherboard does support SSD PCIe and NVMe (physically and electrically)?

    * How about this laptop Bios, support NVMe? I know that win10 supports NVMe, but what the BIOS?

Appreciate the answers to these questions

The BIOS is not the issue. It also has to do with the material. And do you seriously change the BIOS is a viable option? The BIOS is exceptionally hardened against hacking efforts. Very few succeeded. A lot of effort have been made to the number of white list of wifi and very, very little success by very serious coders, which most of us is not.

HP makes now several models that use NVME m2 disks but they are for most business models. I have one in my G3 from 15 Zbook I added and my 'world of the thinner' spectrum 13 was one of the factory. I tried upgrading my laptop SATA m2 (a Lenovo Carbon X 1) used prior and he is not, and this is the result which has been reported here with similar models of HP.

Hello, I upgrade my Ram and hard drive 16 GB of Ram and 1 TB ssd drive. I looked everywhere, but for the life of me I can't find any info on how to remove the back cover. There are utube videos that show older versions, but they are completely different. You can provide any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

    Hello

Did you know that it's a job for parts of authorized service provider ? If you wish, for the RAM, try it please:

    1. turn off the computer. If you don't know if the computer is off or in hibernation, turn on the computer and then stop it through the operating system.
    2. remove power from the computer by disconnecting the power cord from the computer.
    3. disconnect all external devices from the computer.
    4. remove the battery (see battery on page 27).
    5. remove the optical drive (see optical drive on page 28).
    6. remove the bottom cover (see low cover on page 31).

as mentioned on page #38 of the following record:

    http://h10032.www1.HP.com/CTG/manual/c04696907.PDF

    DIY will void the warranty.
