  My mac has restarted her own when I try to install window 8.1, after you download the files required by bootcamp, the error says that Mac has restarted.   In the five years I had my Macbook Pro, I solved my problem of disk space by upgrading the hard drive: 256 G - > 512 G - > 1 T.  Now I need to replace it, and 1 t SSD are a little expensive for my taste.  So, I'm in downsizing mode, in order to get up to about 400 G of free space (from my current 800).  Are there good tools available that will help me find a) large files and folders, file b) unused and records and c) duplicate files and folders?  I was directed to Gemini, which seems limited to c), and it runs in the background, even as I type.

  Get info on your iTunes folder and see how much space it occupies.  If this is the culprit, then you need to move the library to an external drive.  This isn't at all unusual because people want small computers with inadequate storage, but there's a glut of digital media.

• How can I get more disk space on MacBook Pro

  I have a MacBook Pro OS version 10.10.5 Yosemite.

  There seems to be a bug in the about this Mac Look storage tab > system report > storage. It's probably different.

  Omni DiskSweeper can show you the exact size and location of all your files. It will be the inventory of your disc from files that occupy more space. It can also give you a fairer read disk space than the Finder or storage tab of the about this Mac. If you want you can even delete files from OmniDisk Sweeper. But beware, some items may be important for your system.

  To answer your question, no, you can not delete the account if you are not admin. You try to delete the account to become the sole Director of the computer? If so, everything will always be linked to his Apple ID and will require a password to authenticate anything.   My iMac (27 inch, mid 2011) incorrectly displays available disk space or is corrupt.

  Most data show than others (I know it's music and video).  This could show in this way that others use the iMac as well?

  Or I create a mirror image of the OS and applications and hover over the data.

  My problem:

  When I turn on my OS 10.6.8 MacAir is about 8Gb available, but in a few minutes, that reduces to zero. Whenever I restart the same thing happen again..... after that 10 minutes maximum available space is zero!

  The cause?

  I strongly suspect a simple PDF bit that someone sent me two days; I did not notice that he weighed 6.2 Mb, instead of a few KB.  He came to me a business, I worked with years, so logically nothing intentional here. I opened it and worked as usual.

  Download the Internet OmniDiskSweeper and Grand Perspective (both free) and open them. They will show all your files and respective sizes. Transfer to an external HARD disk or remove files, that you no longer want on your MBP.

  Don't forget to empty the trash. Then only the space is allocated for the new data.

  If you can't always solve this problem, run OmniDiskSweeper as root.  See the instructions at the bottom of this link:

• Wizard Boot Camp disk space error

  So I bought a new macbook pro 15 "two days ago, I installed not anything on it so its own.

  My problem is that I am trying to install Windows 8.1 on it using boot camp assistant. But BCA keep jumping with the message that I don't have enough disk space when I have 500 GB of total disk space, and I also tried Windows partition half of the disk space. And its still saying I don't have enough disk space.

  Looks that you can't install Windows on your computer because boot camp keeps giving you this error message. I would like to first take a look at this info in the following article:

  Boot Camp: The problems of creation of partition

  If you have problems creating a Windows partition, check the following:

  • Before installing Windows, the disk on your Mac must be a single partition to Mac OS extended (journaled) format. If the disc has more than one partition, you need to repartition it.
  • The disc on your Mac must be an internal drive. You may not use the Boot Camp Assistant to install Windows on an external drive.
  • If you have a Mac Pro with more than one internal drive and want to install Boot Camp on a drive that is not in the first hard drive Bay remove readers in the bays of lower numbers. You can reinstall the drives after installing Boot Camp.

  If none of this applies to you or does not help you solve the problem I would then use disk utility to verify and repair the disk:

  If you try to add a large amount of data at once, and you receive an alert about the lack of space, then in the menu bar, select

   ▹ System Preferences... ▹ Time Machine

  If there is a padlock icon in the lower left corner of the preferences window, click on it to unlock the settings and to authenticate. Turn off the Machine time and then back on. Close the window.

  Restart the computer. Test.
