Mac Pro 5.1 kicking circuit breaker

I recently bought a Mac Pro 5.1 12 core to replace my Mac Pro 4.1 8 cores. No one knows if these attract a lot more power than article 4.1? It seems my breaker this time every so often. Never had this problem with the 4.1.

I should add that it was very dirty inside when I got it. A lot of fluff as he had been on a treadmill. I took the processor board and blowing lint. Not him did not a throughout the cleaning again.

A 12 core will draw more power than a core 8 but only a little more, unless all the cores are loaded.

What is running when the circuit breaker trip?

What else is on the same circuit as the Mac?

  • Analog triggering on PCIe-6251 using BNC-2120 on Mac Pro?

    Hello all-

There, does anyone know how an analog trigger using a PCIe-6251 card connected to a box of BNC-2120 interface?  I am running LabVIEW 8.6 on a Mac Pro OS 10.5.6 and my VI of analog data acquisition seems to work but hangs up waiting for a trigger.  The trigger analog signal must be applied to the terminal APFI0 and the BNC-2120 contains no connector with this name.  On the M-series cards, APFI0 corresponds to pin 20 on the map itself, but I was not to locate any information that shows how the pins of the connector BNC-2120 connect internally to different spring on its façade and BNC connectors.  Sales people NOR recommended the BNC-2120 as the correct one to use with the PCIe-6251, interface box so I think that probably one of the many connectors on the front panel of the box is wired to pin 20.  Am I wrong?  I spent hours to connect signals to the box in the hope of getting a trigger, and nothing has worked yet.  To make matters worse, reviewing the VI to trigger a data acquisition using a TTL signal connected to all of the PFI 0... 9 connectors on the BNC-2120 just causes of VI to give undefined error message ' specific 89136 route cannot be met because the hardware does not support it.»  The specifications for the PCIe-6251 indicate that a digital trigger should be possible through the PFI connectors, so it's a puzzle.  I have an interface BNC-2110 box in the case which turns out be a solution, nothing about it is named APFI0 either.  Any suggestion would be of interest.  Thank you.

    Hi Ken,

Unfortunately, the BNC-2120 doesn't have a connection available on the APFI your M series line.  The BNC-2110 has this connection available.

A possible workaround is that you can trigger off channels of analog inputs as well.  Here is a screenshot of the M Series User Manual that shows the analog switch-off circuits:

There are a few caveats to trigger off AI channels (mentioned in Chapter 11 of the manual)

If you use a trigger to start, the analog channel that will be triggered off the coast of must be the first string in your scan list.

If you use an analog input as a reference or a relaxing break, it must be the only channel in the scan list.

    I hope this helps!

    Best regards

  • How can I place Sarfari if I have a desk top 2006 mac Pro?

I have a Mac Pro to 2006 bureau. It cannot be upgraded to higher then 10.7.5. I received many Web sites I visit to upgrade or my Safari or websites may not work properly. I really like the Safari and want to continue using it. Do I have to buy a new computer? Is this way Apple force me to do?

After an undetermined number of years Apple constantly updating software for older systems. Everyone does this, but at different times.  Thinking back on it with Apple, it was usually after a version of the system is about 6 years old and a whole lot of support recently made the break with the systems of pre - OSX 10.7.  If you want a browser supported for 10.6, you will have to look in other browsers that for now at least, still support 10.7.  I think that Firefox still doesn't work and I don't know if the branch of TenFourFox of Firefox will adopt now 10.6 users. They still make a version of Firefox for computers PPC owners.

I think I've seen others mention Opera.

  • PCI cards with USB 3.0 or eSATA for a Mac Pro 2006 (1,1)

    Hello, Apple people!

I got my hands on a Mac Pro 2006 earlier from a friend. I used it as a BESTIAL Server (seriously, this thing is not so much as breaking a sweat even when I throw it the more difficult task.) I love this machine) since I got it, and I think I want to do the updates. My plan so far is to get multiple mounting OWC to pick up the second drive Bay currently vacant DVD and install two 120 GB Samsung 850 EVO drives in RAID 0, while using the real HARD disk bays for a RAID 10 array (nested RAID: two RAID 1 arrays brought together in a RAID 0 array) of four 2 TB red WD drives and use two 250 GB hard drives currently in the machine in an external case in a matrix RAID 1 for backup. I'm pretty happy on this issue.

My question concerns what interface to use for external drives of 250 GB. I can use:

    • USB 2.0 currently on the machine
    • FireWire 800 currently on the machine
    • a PCIe USB 3.0 card
    • a PCIe card with eSATA

That we will get the faster speeds? I know that, theoretically, eSATA would get faster speeds (6 Gbps eSATA vs 5 Gbit/s USB 3.0 vs 800 Mbps, Firewire 800 vs 480 Mbps USB 2.0), however I know also (maybe?) that the Mac Pro I have only has grooves in v PCIe 1.1, with a (supposed) 250 MB/s maximum data transfer rate. would this bottleneck a PCIe USB 3.0 or eSATA card not worth?

Note: don't worry all "Mac compatibility" with PCIe cards (or the table RAID scheme I mentioned). I am running Ubuntu Server (64 bit) on the machine, and given that the Linux kernel supports much more conductive than Mac OS X, I probably don't need to look at all the other drivers. This issue is specific to the hardware capabilities of the Mac Pro.

Probably the most simple installation, you can do is to install the eSATA extender cable adapter.

  • Taking advantage of the faster wifi on Mac Pro 1.1

Replaced my aging Airport Extreme Base station 1st generation. Didn't break, but I don't get the most with my iPhone 6s more and iPad Mini 3. In addition, other in the home using Windows laptops and 1 years older iPhones.

Surprised he changed it a long time without crashing. Well worth the money I paid initially 8 years ago.

in any case, I found a router TPLink on Amazon in my price range. The most recent airport is too expensive and hear Leo Laporte disappointment with the latter airport. I get 8 Mac Pro 1.1 impressive performance on all my other devices except for my confidence. I think it has to do with double bands and my old Mac Pro can't do the switch like any modern computer?

I think the purchase of WiFi or USB card to enjoy. Any suggestion is appreciated.

PS I would prefer wired, but at this point, I can connect through ethernet wifi only.

    Thank you

Every Mac since the turn of the Millennium can do dual-band Wi - Fi, alias "Airport Extreme". Do not buy new hardware without investigating what might happen first.

What you get on your Mac Pro when you hold down Option and click the Wi - Fi icon in the menu bar, something like this:

What do you get for Mode PHY and channel?

What do you get for RSSI/power?

What you get for the emission rates?

very important and how many other networks do you see?

  • Sonnet Tempo SSD Pro - does not fit into my Mac Pro.

I just bought a Sonnet Tempo SSD Pro Plus (the same, physically, like the Sonnet Tempo SSD Pro)

I can't even came close it enter my Mac Pro end 2012. On the back of the bumps in the fan card, even with the fan cover pulled back.   This isn't a case to remove the lower lip, which obviously I do, I can't do it AT all, not even at an angle.

I called Sonnet, but incredibly the tech said that it must adapt.

It seems that I have only 2 choices: unscrew the fan and moving it more far forward of the mac (somehow) to cut about 1/2 "on the back of the Sonnet card.  The latter would obviously kill my warranty, and I don't even know if the bloody thing still works.

To my amazement, I find nothing about it online.  It's like the Twilight Zone.

Any ideas?  Someone knows has a video that shows a successful installation?

  • More high graphics card Possible for early 2009 Mac Pro

As the title suggests, I have an early 2009 Mac Pro with 12 GB of RAM.

I want to update my graphics card to something better and I have no idea of what I put in the card. Ideally, I would like to put the last possible graphics card that is compatible for this.

I don't know what I would look for PCI or PCI - e and what diet I would look for that would support such a computer "arcane".

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

    Best wishes

    Sergio

the 2009 mac 4.1 pro can be upgraded to a number of current spare cards from Nvidia and AMD, but in many cases the cards require custom flashing of the Distributor and custom drivers. You need to buy a card with a distributor of mac because versions "Windows" of these cards will not work out of the box and OS X will not support without 3rd party drivers. This procedure is not recommended by apple that would rather you buy a new mac pro and again I want to say something for $5K, which offers the latest GPU is already 3 years old.

research on the Web "Mac Pro 4.1 GPU" for more details.

'Later' a few days ago is 10.12 Sierra and that Mac is not supported under Sierra.

10.11 El Capitan is always available for download (but deliberately difficult to download 'accidentally'). Any downloadable Mac OS requires you to have 10.6.8 in place first, because this is the version with a stable Mac App Store.

In an emergency, ask the dealer if they have a "Full Retail" 10.6.8 Snow Leopard DVD they could give you, or buy it for $ 20 on the Apple store online. Gray discs only work for the exact model, they are made for, so a gray disk for an iMac will not start and will not be installed.

"What graphics card" is motivated by what you plan to do with it. Mac-specific firmware a graphics card is necessary for a photo before the login screen. GT120 Mac firmware card is very affordable, but it's not bad a card if you plan on editing video and other.

To run El Capitan, there must be a minimum of 4 GB of RAM, and more is better. Your Mac uses DIMM modules in pairs in adjacent locations, and if you fill out accidentally all the slots, memory in double width for an increase in the speed of 17 percent.

  • Using SDS Macbook Pro under Mac Pro

I recently installed a new OS (Yosemite) and several audio programs / music I use in my studio on a new SSD in my laptop - Macbook Pro - I'm not sure I'll keep.

I have a Mac Pro 2012 Tower.  Can use the SSD of the Macbook Pro (or a clone of it) in the Mac Pro saves a lot of installation time and download of updates for all my audio programs?

I searched a few days if an SSD (or clone) of a Macbook can be used in a Mac Pro Tower.

Thanks in advance for your kind answers.

Yes, it will work in the Mac Pro Tower-silver. To use it you need to an adoptive parent or a sled like this

  • No sound optical input on Mac Pro

I'm working on some problems with my optical sound system, and I have a recorder DAT Sony outlet in my Mac Pro, Late 2010 5.1 Sierra running. I bring the signal of the DAT, via an optical cable in the Mac - I get a visual cue on the sound preferences - but not his actual computer, any output, I try: internal spkrs, Line out, Digital out, bar his monitor, or Bluetooth headset. That is what it is? I trashed preferences sound and zap the PRAM. No change.

Hmm... It is of course odd. If you hold down the option key and click on the speaker at the top of the screen icon, you should see a list of all the available audio inputs and outputs, you can also find it under system preferences > sound

other this, try to pull the Audio high noon and see what she has set, sometimes, strangely enough, IT Gets the value to something weird like 96 khz or line output, or some of these.  except that, depending on the application you are using, you may need to edit the record source and to ensure that play through is committed. your device should appear if all goes well. I think it must be configured as 44 kHz or 48 khz
