  Sorry, but you're out of luck.  At this point, NO virtualization software is able to firewire devices to their guests.

  The Superdrive Apple USB attracts more than the maximum power allowed. It can be awkward on some MacBook Pro. But the question probably for your configuration is Windows has reserved the player himself, and the side Mac cannot use until Windows releases, or you do a restart.

  It is not so much the Macbook Pro model as what operating system your help, for example, if you're running Lion and trying to download Itunes for El Captian.     I'm trying to restore a disk from MacBook Pro from a backup, but my PowerMac Pro does not seem to recognize the MacBook Pro in target disk mode.  I have a FireWire 800 cable and adapter to the thunderbolt FireWire 800 port.  Is there something more I should do to get the Mac Pro power to recognize the MacBook Pro in disc mode target like an external hard drive?

    There is no "Power Mac Pro;" are you referring to a Power Mac (which would be less than 11 years), or a Mac Pro? You try to migrate data from the MacBook Pro to another Mac, or vice versa?

  • 2007 MacBook Pro 3.1 internal superdrive does not

    I have a 2007 MacBook Pro 3.1 which is super slow.  I've recently updated the RAM 6 GB (the maximum allowed), swapped the HD internal SSD and also replaced the internal superdrive, which had ceased to function.  I did a clean install of El Capitan, after all has been toggled.  Everything seems to work fine except for the internal superdrive.  When I put a CD in, it started to turn a little but then he just fell silent, and I can't even eject the disc.  I tried the F12 key and the manual button on the top right of the keyboard.  I thought that perhaps I do not connect the cable correctly, but the fact he took the disc and began to turn, indicates the connection is good.  Whenever I restart the computer or wake from sleep, I hear the disc turns, but it stops after about a minute.  I don't see any picture of a CD mounted on the desktop.  Also, I don't see the icon of CD & DVD under system preferences.  I wonder if Miss me a driver or an extension for a CD/DVD drive.  I have a defective superdrive drive or is it a software problem?

    My MacBook Pro was on the way "sleep" for a week. I opened the cover to awake, but did not work, then it plugged into the power supply and switched on, but just hearing the sound of the chimes and nothing happene, the screen was completely black and nothing. Just the light caps lock could be on, the fan and the LED sleep was ON when the lid is closed.

    AT first tried to start in safe mode by turning on and after its carillon, pushing immediately and hold the SHIFT key, but again nothing.

    Then tried to reset the NVRAM, start-up and after the sound of the chime immediately press on and hold down the 'command-option-P-R', but even once, nothing happened.

    Then tried to reset the SMC, by left keys "SHIFT-control-option" and light at the same time, but unfortunately still just sound chime and nothing happened.

    Unfortunately, my last backup to time machine came back 2 months ago and I entered a large number of data during this period.

    Can someone help me solve the problem and start my Mac.

    Connect to a monitor.  If there is an image, your MBP screen or the connection therewith may be defective.

    IPhoto to my Macbook Pro (old version) won't let me play the video clips more (it was). They are mostly of clips to iPhone. When I try to open them I get a dark white page with an error message:

    "Error OSStatus-54".

    Someone has seen this and someone has suggestions on how to fix it?

    It's so frustrating because with most of these clips, that is the only place where I stored them - some clips I get from family members as well... (In iPhoto, I see a picture of the first frame of the clip, but the clip does not play). Even when the new version of iPhoto appeared on my computer, my old version slept and I continued to use the old because I liked it is better (more familiar).  The videos were still on the old version when I got the new version, but they stopped play several months ago. Help! Please? Thank you!

  • MacBook pro doesn't start

    When I was watching a movie on my Macbook pro, it has frozen all of a sudden and closed.

    The Macbook pro has tried to restart but it still fails in the middle of the loading screen.

    The loading screen disappears and it becomes totally blank.

    I tried the secure boot but it did not work.

    All solutions?

    Start of recovery by pressing command + R at the start of the carillon.  Use disk utility to verify that the boot disk (first aid on El Capitan) then reinstall OS X.

  • MacBook Pro doesn't start after recent iTunes update

    I use the latest model of MacBook Pro with the Retina display, bought in August in an Apple Store. After download and install latest iTunes update that App Store the computer asked me to restart to complete the procedure. After it restarted the Apple logo appeared and also the br of progress indicating the time remaining. When it finished now it is stuck on the apple logo screen and will not continue.

    Can someone provide me a procedure step by step to solve the problem? I do not have backup storage so the method with less risk of losing information will be highly appreciated. Thank you

    I tried to start the safe mode, recovery mode, but they no longer work. Is there another way to enter recovery mode except by pressing command + r?

    In the last two days, my Macbook Pro connects to Facebook.  I thought it could have been a thing of Safari, so I downloaded Chrome and had the same problem.  All other sites are OK on both browsers.

    I just upgraded to OSX, but I still get the same message: "Safari cannot open page https://www.facebook.com because the server where the page is not responding."

    Any clues gratefully received.

    Dear community,

    I have a problem with my laptop as expensive. All started a few months ago. Guard just by chance my business, when all of a sudden my screen blink, turning blue, split in two. Hmmm weird, never had this before. Was not any substance is heavy on the machine in time.

    For troubleshooting begins: Reboot, = > boots ok. Yes it works! After 10-15 minutes, the same question. Woohoo!

    Reboot again, this time without success. It gets stuck at the loading screen grey and begins fanning upward. After becoming as hot as Mordor, it stops. Tried a few reboots, but all with the same result.

    Occasionally, it starts successfully and I can work perfect for about 10 to 30 minutes. (After restarting 5ish, at this point I did a backup on an external).

    My first assumption is therefore a bit my HARD drive stopped working. (Had the same problem a few years ago, swap HARD drive fixed)

    So I start with basic stuff. Check if everything is always in place. Swap the RAM, see if everything is still ok.

    Restart the macbook, without success. Same screen.

    Cannot access disk utility, startup does not work either. Memory NVRAM and SMC reset does not work.

    Single user mode is the only thing that seems to work all the time. (Note: I was looking for similar problems a little on the net.)

    I came across a forum a clever solution:

    /sbin/fsck -fy


    /sbin/mount -uw /

    rm /var/db/.AppleSetupDone

    reset

    TADAA! I can create a new account. Everything seems fine! First thing we do is to check my HARD drive. No problems found. But after 30 minutes ish it crashes again

    Only the same deal in single user mode but this time without success.

    So no start working at this point.

    For some reason any (after 1000000 tries), I went into disk util. So clean it up the installation of the operating system. Installation is made but same problem starting.

    With a friend we swap HDD and my HARD drive (SSD) starts fine on his machine. His HARD drive (windows OS) starts immediately on my macbook.

    But the fun doesn't last long, after 30 minutes of use ish, the macbook crashes again and the startup problem starts again.

    At this point im guessing a hardware problem somewhere. Maybe someone has or has had the same problem or can help with this problem.

    Sorry for the long reading and occasional grammar mistakes.

    Any suggestion or help is gladly appreciated!

    PS: The only thing that had changed was that I bought a new magsafe power adapter but it loads fine.
