MacBook pro startup failed

Hi, when I start my Macbook pro, it shows this (pictured) after the usual apple logo. I heard it's my hard drive which is a failure, the system is unable to find a valid bootable system.

How can I fix it? Maybe utility disk?

Greetings Andreas D.

I'm sorry to hear that you are having a problem with your Macbook Pro. Yes, you can use disk utility to fix the problem. Your Mac can not find a bootable hard drive, thus showing the circle with the slash through it. If your hard drive is really a failure, if you can, make a backup soon. By rebooting and holding down the option key will show you all hard drives potentially bootable.  You could boot from the recovery Partition by pressing the command and R

at startup. From there, you will have access to the OS X tools (Center of the screen), click disk utility. Disk utility may not, however, be able to fix everything that happens. In this case, your options would be to buy a program that could work (DiskWarrior), or make an appointment at your local Apple store and bring in aid. Hard drives can and do sometimes fail, usually without much warning.

in any case, good luck to you

Someone else has met a failure of this type in the same model of MBP?

This would be a general problem with the SSD components used in this edition of the MBP that is similar to the issue of MB Air?

  • Condensation has caused my HARD MacBook Pro disk fail?

I am the owner of my MacBook Pro 17 inch available mid-2010, which resulted in the failure of hard drive for the SECOND TIME IN 6 YEARS.  I replaced the hard drive and brought it to my local Apple store, where they performed an installation of OSX El captain.  I used the time-machine for about a year back.

I had a keyboard cover on what I didn't for years to end, nor I shook with her for awhile.  After retiring, I noticed there is a lot of Condensation (Moisture), at the top of the keyboard.  My hard drive went dead twice so far, both times that I did not remove my keyboard cover until two days ago.

The printed letter 'A' on the keyboard seems to have SCRUBS OFF a little, if I tap each letter oh-so-often.  The letter 'A' is just above my hard drive - Go Figure!

In conclusion, I will never use a keyboard cover again.

    1. So not a condensation result in my hard drive not?
    2. Is a rubbed off button a good thing to look for, to be WARY of condensation occurring?
    3. A reflection as to what else to use to propel my keyboard from dust to settle in?

Duration of the guarantee for new hard drives are usually three years. Your failure rate is not alarming. Hard drive mechanisms are very complex. Rupture may be caused by a wide variety of issues.

wear of the CAP key arrives. E, R, S and T are the most frequently used English letters, but has a scope on the side of your left pinky, so wear should be expected.

keyboards produced in the last decade use more key switches and no longer have an electrical contact inside. Keys are arranged along the son of line and column, and the changes subtle capacitance indicate what key has been pressed.

Your fear of disrupting the dirt key mechanisms is baseless, because there is no electricity to get grime more.

  • Photosmart B110a Wifi Macbook Pro Scan fails after the most recent firmware update: CHL1FN1146AR

    Hi all

I currently have a problem when scanning on wifi using a Macbook pro (Mac OS X 10.7.3).)

    Printer/scanner/copier is a: HP Photosmart B110a model: CN245B

    Service ID is: 20348

The driver version is: HP ink Jet 8 pilot 3.5.2

I used to scan directly into Evernote after completing the following steps:

    System Preferences - print & Scan - Scan - Scanner-open

At this point the printer stops responding (just the apple turning and turning circle)

The utility shows HP status: 'Idle '. The serialnumber Sevice ID and model are shown as well.

Reset the system of printing and reinstalling the driver unfortunately did not solve the problem.

Even the HP utility informs me that "an error has occurred."

I tried to press the button 'wifi' on the printer for several seconds to make my router was able to connect to the printer.

It seemed to work. I can print to the printer, once... grmmph... After successful printing I launched a scan...

    Too bad...

    The message:

    "The scanner reported an error.

The scan did not complete because the operation was canceled while the analysis was underway. »

    pop up.

Power - off at least 60 seconds does not resolve the issue.

This behavior has started to happen right around the time that I installed an update of the firmware on the device.

The current Firmware version is: CHL1FN1146AR

I can reach the printer using a Web browser, the printer is showing the status of 'connection '.

The webscan works like a charm and the self test page print works as well.

If the printer is in my humble OPINION.

Please let me know if this sounds familiar to anyone. Maybe a restore to the previous firmware could solve my problem?

    Hi Martin,

First of all, try to reboot the router?

    I always suspect the router.

Even further because it seems not to support Hello based on the above document, the manual of the router and the router configuration that I went through with no opportunity to locate any indication for its support.

Please try temporary without going through the router and check the differences:

  • My MacBook Pro early 2011 startup is extremely slow

My Macbook Pro has now become very slow in recent years to the point that it takes about 2-3 minutes at the start and another 3 minutes for the Finder to start and bar + apps become available and be able to use (otherwise fury beach ball!).

I always held up-to-date and think that the issue could have begun with a patch somewhere that might be too heavy on such a machine in (?) "old". I don't remember not to what update started... probably just after Snow Leopard or Lion.

I did everything advised on the web, disk check, PRAM reset, remove and free on the hard disk, the cache of the system of cleaning with Terminal... I then used EtreCheck and the result was "below average", emphasizing 17 errors on the disk. What does that mean?? Should I reinstall the OS or should I replace the HDD and redo the whole machine? If one of these, how do I go about it for this laptop, if that's possible?

    Thank you!!!

I have the 128 GB of Macbook Pro retina early 2015 model. I bought my macbook, the year last January 2015. I am just now having problem with my mac. When I'm trying to boot my laptop it shows the flashing question mark and it does not start after that. For a while it worked, but after the update the laptop is never again.

I tried all the normal recovery process in the process of recovery of the internet, but still it does not work for me. When I select the disk utility in the dialog box, the drive does not appear here, so I can't erase and start to reinstall the operating system.

What should I do now? I was looking for OEM SSD, but it's very expensive. with this prize money of (here in INDIA RS - 50 k) I can get the Macbook Air.

If please guide me on how to start the mac or what do I do next?

    Thank you.

We have no way of knowing exactly what you have tried that doesn't work unless you tell us. A flashing question mark boot means that your Mac is unable to locate a startup disk to boot from.

If you haven't tried... start your Mac holding the key Option. That should launch the boot window manager have been, you can select the startup disk, and then click on restart.

If this does not help, you will need to take the Mac for the service.

  • MacBook Pro hangs at startup then auto shuts

    Hello

My old Macbook Pro (2009 ongoing Yosemite) behaves badly!

At startup and after Apple and progress bar appears it will automatically close down after about a third of the progress bar is reached.

I tried to reset PRAM and SMC.

I tried to start in safe mode, but it stops before he gets there!

Other things to try, or the old faithful servant a go to?

    Thank you very much.

Reinstall OS X without erasing the drive

Make sure that you have a current backup before continuing.

Boot to HD recovery: restart the computer after the ring, press on and hold the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen to appear.

Repair the hard drive and permissions: at startup, select in the main menu disk utility. Repair hard disk and permissions as follows.

When the recovery menu appears, select disk utility and press the continue button. Disk utility charges and select Macintosh HD entry indented from the list on the left.  Click the first aid tab, and then click the repair disk button. If disk utility reports any errors that have been corrected, then again run repair disc until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported, click repair permissions . Wait until the operation is complete, then quit disk utility and return to the main menu.

Reinstall OS X: Select reinstall OS X and click on the continue button.

Note : You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest to use Ethernet if possible because it's three times faster than Wi - Fi and more reliable.

  • Startup MacBook Pro-comment problems prevent health going to disk/check once again

My 13 inch Macbook Pro running OSX 10.9.5 (said mid-2012, but it was purchased in fall 2014) has had problems starting

A few weeks ago the computer is stuck on the loading screen (white, with the Apple and the buffering of spinning icon) without marketing properly. After you have manually turned off and left for a long time he worked well on the next test, so I took care of it has been saved and so didn't think much, and it works pretty well in recent weeks, sometimes being a little slow but that very occasionally and not debilitatingly so and it probably is not related to this problem.

This morning it was still once stuck on the loading screen, and try again in 5 or 6 times solves nothing. The VRAM reset did not help either. After an attempt to boot into safe mode (filled a little progress bar then disappeared and the computer continued to buffer without purpose), I once again reset the NVRAM and tried a different boot safe mode, with the same results. But this time I left it half an hour or so and on the next attempt (start normally) it miraculously worked a new and everything seems functional. After a new backup with a preparation period slightly extended backup (at least half an hour on the first abandoned attempt, then at least 15 minutes, until correct on the second trial has started), although it is common on my computer, I have enough fear turn the computer off and tempt fate again, if I want to see what can be done now.

What should I do to check the health of the disk, potentially fix it, find out why this is happening and avoid this problem again in the future?

I decided to watch from the disk utility and am confused by the Setup program. There is an 'APPLE HDD Media HTS541010A9E662' entry in the list, with a "MacIntoshHD" paragraph below, and both have different information displayed... I ran check disk on the higher level entry and it seems to be out very well ("the Volume Recovery HD seems to be OK"), but I haven't run one on the low level input as it says my computer may be "slow and unresponsive" while doing so, and I'm not entirely sure of what use there.

It cannot be storage associated with as I stil have 610 gb of free 1 terra (although a large part of what I have (130 GB) is in the other category for a reason any).

  • MacBook Pro 13 "(mid-2012) i7, 8 GB, 750 GB - VERY low LAG high-end GAMES OVERHEATING [Metal fail?]

First of all, Merry Christmas to you all and hope that you guys are doing well.

As the title says I am using the updated Macbook Pro Mid2012 Standard (Non-retine). In any case the introduction of the metal, shouldn't this smoothly? I see really no improvement in terms of game performance other than an increase in the value of 1024 MB to 1536 MB vRam. More it overheats a lot even in normal operating conditions (such as surfing the Web or watching streams etc..) Just to let you know that my Macbook Pro has a minimal dust inside the unibody shell.

Would be grateful if you help out me

    You have several distinct concerns:

For metal application support, hardware and software, please read this this Apple Support document: list of computers Macs that supported Metal - Apple Support

    and this message:

Re: el capitan and metal, test application?

Energy concerns please read that apps can affect Mac performance, battery LIFE, temperature and fan - Apple Support activity. Identify the process or processes causing excessive consumption of energy and to evaluate the performance of your Mac when these processes are used or not used.

Just to let you know that my Macbook Pro has a minimal dust inside the unibody shell.

Most dust internal preventing the proper heat dissipation accumulate in the fins near MBP fan extraction or amateurs (model 13 "has only one). Exhaust fans speed will increase as necessary to achieve their reduced capacity to dissipate heat. If that does not work, the next thing that happens is that your Mac will automatically reduce its processor demand so that it produces less heat which must be dissipated. If this still fails to keep temperatures limits, the Mac will just stopped on its own. Excessive dust should be removed, but it is better to have Apple or a FSAA do, due to the high probability of damage should you decide to do this yourself.

Please be advised that fan of higher speeds tend to exacerbate the dust because moving to a greater volume of air per unit of time only tends to draw in additional dust. It's one of the reasons for the third system hacks that bypass the cooling system of the Mac should never be used.
