  The problem is most likely an attempt to update a system malfunction prior it is probably a problem with your computer, not the El Capitan.

  Start by:

  Reset the PRAM and NVRAM on your Mac.

  MacIntel: Reset of the controller (SMC) system management

  Start in Safe Mode , and then re - start normally. It's slower that a normal start, so be patient.

  If you are unable to start;

  Reinstall El Capitan without erasing the drive

  Please make sure that you back up.

  1. Restart the computer. Immediately after that the chime hold down the command and R until the Utility Menu appears.
  2. Select disk utility, then click on the continue button.
  3. Select the withdrawal (usually Macintosh HD) entry of the volume in the list aside.
  4. Click first aid icon in the toolbar. Wait until the button is active, then click it.
  5. Quit disk utility and re-enter the Utility Menu.
  6. Select Reinstall OS X and click on the continue button.

  If this doesn't get you;

  Install Yosemite or El Capitan, from scratch

  Backup if possible before proceeding.

  Restart the computer. Immediately after the chime hold down the command and R buttons until the Apple logo appears. When the Utility Menu appears:

  Select utility disc in the Menu Utility, then click the continue button.

  When loading disk utility, select the volume (entered into withdrawal, usually Macintosh HD) from the list of devices.

  Click Delete in the main window of disk utility. A panel will fall.

  Define the type of Format Mac OS extended (journaled).

  Click on the apply button, then wait for the done button to activate and click on it.

  Quit disk utility and re-enter the Utility Menu.

  Select reinstall OS X and click on the continue button.

  A 2010 MBP has SATA2 3Gbps connectivity.  However all readers will be retro-compatible.  Try OWC:

  Capacity is not a problem.  Now they come up to 2 TB.

• Calendars has disappeared from the MacBook Pro

  I clicked to open the calendar on the doc icon and all of my calendars are GONE. There is now only a single base calendar with holidays and some limited entries that I had put in the calendar on my iPhone (6).  But all entries made on multiple calendars on my MacBook Pro (circa 2009, 13 inches) and the calendars themselves have disappeared.  The left in the schedule column now lists only the 'other' with boxes checked for 'Found in Mail' and ' WE holiday.»  There is a box unchecked "birthdays".  I also checked my iPhone calendars (6): in the column "MY MAC", several of my missing calendars are noted as "null".  In the column 'GMAIL', my e-mail address, birthdays and holidays are checked.  I restarted the computer from the drop-down menu, only to rebuild or repair itself, as opposed to an automatic restart.  I do not backup to the cloud, only on a hard drive.  I'm under El Capitan 10.11.4.  Help!

What is going on? When I looked in the Applications folder I could not see anything huge in there either...

  I think that the screen has caused anxiety most people than any other part of the El Capitan. This view is often inaccurate.

  Open the Finder, Ctrl-click (or right-click) your drive hard drive icon and select 'get information '. How much space does say is available?

• Premiere Pro causing of the Macbook Pro down?

  Hi, this is starting to happen frequently when you use body CC 2015.  The system crashes and then restarts a few moments later.  This only happens in Premiere Pro.  Often, before the crash, the screen becomes a bit pixelated (see photo).

• External monitor retina has no power for MacBook Pro

  My external monitor retina stopped providing power to my MacBook pro (OS 10.10.2) and so will not come.  I tried to reset the SMC, but it did not help.  I plugged the MacBook to external Retina to another (same model) and it works fine.  I unplugged everything, plugged the screen on a multiple power outlets different without success.  I plugged the screen on a different MacBook and encounter the same problem - no power.  The problem seems to be in the monitor, no not the computer.    Is there a reset of the monitor or something else, that I can do?

  I'm sorry to hear that you are having a problem with your Macbook Pro. Yes, you can use disk utility to fix the problem. Your Mac can not find a bootable hard drive, thus showing the circle with the slash through it. If your hard drive is really a failure, if you can, make a backup soon. By rebooting and holding down the option key will show you all hard drives potentially bootable.  You could boot from the recovery Partition by pressing the command and R

  at startup. From there, you will have access to the OS X tools (Center of the screen), click disk utility. Disk utility may not, however, be able to fix everything that happens. In this case, your options would be to buy a program that could work (DiskWarrior), or make an appointment at your local Apple store and bring in aid. Hard drives can and do sometimes fail, usually without much warning.

  I currently have a problem when scanning on wifi using a Macbook pro (Mac OS X 10.7.3).)

  Printer/scanner/copier is a: HP Photosmart B110a model: CN245B

  Service ID is: 20348

  The driver version is: HP ink Jet 8 pilot 3.5.2

  I used to scan directly into Evernote after completing the following steps:

  System Preferences - print & Scan - Scan - Scanner-open

  At this point the printer stops responding (just the apple turning and turning circle)

  The utility shows HP status: 'Idle '. The serialnumber Sevice ID and model are shown as well.

  Reset the system of printing and reinstalling the driver unfortunately did not solve the problem.

  Even the HP utility informs me that "an error has occurred."

  I tried to press the button 'wifi' on the printer for several seconds to make my router was able to connect to the printer.

  It seemed to work. I can print to the printer, once... grmmph... After successful printing I launched a scan...

  Too bad...

  I always suspect the router.

  Even further because it seems not to support Hello based on the above document, the manual of the router and the router configuration that I went through with no opportunity to locate any indication for its support.

  The picture above is the drive. The indented bottom image is the Volume. You should always create a volume to use a player. In your case, you probably want to reformat. That will erase the entire disk and create a new volume.

  I'm afraid that by pouring water into the computer then take it apart and fixing it you have cancelled the guarantee and any other Apple support. They will not fix the video problem for you. You are free to ask your local store of Apple or a service center if they will fix it for you and what will be the cost. The first sentence is the warranty policy.
