MacBook still slow after update memory

I just upgraded my ram from 4 GB to 16 GB memory. I'm in the editing of videos and photos for youtube beating drones 4 k. Until I upgraded my ram it was slow when I started to edit my videos. mainly drone videos 4 k. Once I upgraded ram 16 GB that I have not seen much difference is there anything else I need to do? I did something wrong by upgrading ram 16 GB memory when it was not if? I have a macbook mid 2012 Pro OS x el Capito 2.5 ghz i5 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 Intel HD Graphics 4000 1536 MB 500 GB of storage and 465 GB free! don't you think it's my graphics card? If so what should I get or which would be a lot for me to do it myself and to sell or to have someone to do it where it would be cheap. Please help id greatly appreciate any input anyone this question or knowledge. Thanks again!

Sorry 435 GB of storage is free. also what I mean by slow operation, is that when I downloaded my videos from my drone or everything that I could watch the video fine on no matter what glitching I guess you could say. but once I started editing my video in iMovie has added music and transitions all the good things that he has begun to slow and glitch.

  • MacBook Pro slow and stop, memory or HARD drive or motherboard?

These last few months my Macbook Pro medio 2012 begins to slow down. I was thinking of a resettlement but has not had the time yet.

Last month, he really slow started to freeze and stops instantly. It reboots and then I get a gray screen saying with the icon (a card with a questionmark in there) that it cannot find the boot disk drive. I close it again with the button and restart, then it starts normally. This would have me believe it has something to do with my HARD drive or the motherboard, but then again I'm not a tech guy so I guess just really. Then I got the idea to do a test of material, with this error as a result: 4MEM/62/40000000: 0x81d97590

After searching the Web, it would mean that my memory would be bad/broken. I read in another post to download an app called 'Remember' which tests your RAM. I tried yesterday and it worked fine, nothing was wrong. But today I did once again when my Macbook was slow functioning again and went to do some other stuff. When I came back my Macbook has a black screen, a Word to insert a boot disk. I just stopped and restarted again and started normally. It is a little slow to clear grey screen with the apple logo.

So my question is, does anyone know where the shoe pinches, RAM, HARD drive or the motherboard? Will also contribute to a reinstall? Can I check if my RAM is always placed properly or is maybe dirty? I use an application called memory monitor for clean working memory from time to time. I'm updating to El captain, wanted to do it instantly when I want to do a clean install on my mac, but I think I'll wait with that I know where the problem lies.

Really hope someone can help me!

    Kind regards

    Mike

an application called 'Remember' which tests your RAM. I tried yesterday and it worked fine, nothing was wrong.

This is not the right way to think about memory problems. When the test of the RAM ALL said that there is a problem, it's the truth. RAM problems are very difficult to isolate, and a diagnostic runs, but can't find the problem, if NOT "nothing was wrong" which is "he cannot find the problem immediately."

This isn't a mystery. DIMM RAM, not another thing is more likely to fail. Then you could try Rember running all night, you could try to remove one of your DIMMs and see if chess stops, you can try to get a new DIMM and see if they work better.

  • Dell XPS 15 SSD NVMe slow after updating the firmware July 2016 and papillonné CPU (Core i7)

Edit: 9/2: title change intended to reflect issues of CPU throttling and discussion (second half of the thread)

I noticed a huge performance drag after updating the firmware and drivers of my XPS 15 9550. The update took place August 4, 2016.

Performance of my usual applications (Chrome, development tools and IDE, etc.) is dramatically lower. In general, I would say that things take about 3 times as long to arrive. I checked the CPU (normal), but also memory consumption (as normal) to discover that the problem is with the SSD drive.

On this laptop: 500 GB NVMe thnsn5512gpu7 NV (toshiba). Attached are the results of a benchmark with AS SSD. All write speeds are appalling, to say the least... that explains a lot, but I have no idea how to solve this problem, and whether or not it really relates to the latest firmware + update drivers provided by Dell.

(Note: I checked the BIOS, it seems that the SSD is currently configured in RAID mode.) Never touched this option before.)

Any idea? Other affected users in a similar way. Thanks in advance.

I managed to get the performance back by going to the properties of the disc and turn off windows write cache flushing heat. The two boxes should be checked. Write speed then went to about 1400 MB/s.

You have software installed "anti-virus"? It is the most common cause for this.

  • Mac incredibly slow after update of El Capitan

    Hello world

    I own a Macbook that I bought in 2013.

    Data sheet:

    13 "medio 2012

Processor: 2.5 Ghz Intel core i5

    Memory: 4 GB 1600 Mhz DDR3

Four days ago, that I've updated my system to El Capitan v10.11.6. At first, he seemed to be well-developed, but after about 12 hours, it started to become really slow - and I don't speak incredibly slow. Almost all of the clicks or typing a letter takes forever.

I downloaded a free version of CleanMyMac, and it shows that I have to constantly only between 50 and 300 MB of RAM free. I also read that you should let Spotlight indexes all yout files, but it maintains at the end and starting over.

I have about 90 of my 499 GB hard drive on the left.

    Any ideas or solutions?

    Two suggestions:

Dump to clean my mac it's crapware.

Run EtreCheck and report results here - often your problems are caused by incompatible third-party software and someone here might be able to spot it.

Slow performance after an upgrade are often because of incompatible software. Make sure that all your applications are up to date.

  • Firefox is unbearably slow after update (/ questions/985969)

Firefox slows and raises my CPU at 100% after a few hours of use. This happened again and again after that I updated Firefox Versions 27, 28 and 29 now. If I restart my computer, Firefox works normally for a while before it slows down again. Same text by tapping on my e-mail slows down to a crawl.

The 3 modules I have are the following: -.
    (a) Edge Adblock 2.1.1
    (b) download videos from Youtube in MP4 1.7.18
    (c) McAfee SiteAdvisor 3.7.0

It is a serious problem and a game changer for Firefox. I hope that experts in Firefox will fix this bug soon. Meanwhile, if there is a solution to this problem, someone would share its solution in this thread please?

    Launch Firefox in Mode safe

While you are in safe mode; Firefox Options > advanced > General.

Find and stop using hardware acceleration.

Dig safe web sites and see if there is still a problem. Then restart.

It could be the work of one of your modules, or even add / bad-ware.
Look through your list of modules and make sure you know what each of them is
    and so. In addition,
check the programs that are on your computer
Windows > start > Control Panel > uninstall programs.
Go through the list and a web search to check that you have not
    know what they are.

  • Safari slow after update to the last El Capitan

    Hello!

After the last update El Capitan (April 16), Safari has been slow. For example, goes from one URL to another usually take one or two seconds and takes up to 15 seconds. First of all, I thought that my cable provider was the culprit but then I tried a different browser (Firefox) and it is never slow, even if Safari is still waiting to load a page.

I also noticed that nsurlstoraged in the activity monitor is consuming a lot of CPU when I'm under Safari, but not when I'm in Firefox.

I tried to disable all extensions in Safari as well as connection points disabling (where there is a conflict somewhere), but it does not solve the problem.

I really prefer Safari on Firefox, but for now I need to run Firefox just to get the work done.

Any thoughts on where to go from here?

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Armand

Troubleshoot the Safari plug-ins... (not the same as Extensions)

Go to Safari > Preferences. This time select the tab Security Deselect: plug-ins Allow. Quit and restart Safari to test.

If it makes a difference, the instructions of troubleshooting plugins here.

If it does not help the process of nsurlstoraged, try resetting the SMC as mentioned in a similar discussion here > CPU Load from NSURLSTORAGED

  • XP Pro SP3 still slow after a month of following threads

I built a computer for my wife and he played wonderfully up until a month ago when she told me that she thought she had a virus because his PC is really slow. She was correct and I found and cleaned several threats to his machine. Even created a Kaspersky bootable cd and did a cleanup of that. I managed to get rid of all viruses detected at this stage. I ran full scans with Kaspersky, AVG, Norton 360, Spybot, Adaware, Webroot and Hitman Pro. All the latter reported no threat. Machine has always been very slow, so I started following discussions here. I used msconfig to take everything on commissioning. I have optimized, defragmented, and managed to get rid of unused programs. I've been following son and make all the suggestions I found for over a month and still crawling along. I used a timer to Boot XP to see how long it has taken for the computer to boot, and he returned with 770 seconds, or nearly 13 minutes. Consumers two great time according to the timer to start XP is the services.exe and svchost.exe two of these samples for 5 minutes. Ideas that have already been posted here? Thank you.

One thing that is often overlooked when startups/performance troubleshooting HARD drive Transfer Mode setting.  This applies only to IDE (not the SATA drives) drives.  If transfer Modes slipped DMA in PIO, you'll have a system "lame".

Since the implementation of the MS Answers forum does not prompt for the basic system information when a new question is asked (as the system brand and model), I can't tell if this applies to you or not if you can tell us that.  If you are not sure, we say the make and model and we can look it up.

AVG, Norton and Spybot are known hogs CPU and memory so if you have those installed and enabled that could be part of the problem, but if you have disabled the throughout the msconfig may be that it is not.  Installation of too many AV programs is not always a good thing.  It is possible to have too much protection on your system.

You use Bootlog XP to get these hours?  It is a good tool to find why your bootstrap system takes so long so that it starts.  A nice bar chart to show you that everything is being done and you focus on long horizontal lines in the table and work on these areas.

If he your system brand not specified and the model is using IDE drives, here's how to check your Transfer Mode settings:

If you are using IDE drives, use Device Manager to check the channel Transfer Mode IDE is set to something like DMA if available (depends on your hardware) and the slow PIO mode.

Don't forget: PIO is the slowest, DMA is faster.

It is easy to check and usually easy to fix and the mode would not have changed in itself, so if she changed to PIO, change it to DMA, and then understand why it changed and fix it.

To launch the Device Manager console, click Start, run and enter in the box:

    devmgmt.msc

    Click OK.

Expand the section controller IDE / ATA to see your IDE channels. Each of them right click and choose Properties for each channel that has a tab advanced settings, determine the Transfer Mode. There are usually 4 channels to check in a desktop computer, maybe less for laptops so just check all.

Faster selection will always be a kind of selection DMA (usually: DMA, DMA5, DMA if available, UDMA, etc.).  If it is PIO, change it to DMA.

If you are unsure of what you see after return of help and advice.

If you make settings, restart and check the settings again to ensure that all changes 'stick '.

What may have caused the change?

  • MOLASSES SLOW AFTER UPDATE OF ENCODING

I have a MBP / 16 GB / 2.3ghz Intel quad core i7. I am trying to simply export an interview of 29 minutes of 1080 p to 360 p. Shot with a 5 d Mark III. I have a camera and two audio tracks. This is the basic game. I did some exposure settings in After Effects, but it's as fancy as it gets. Yet, it takes about 3-4 minutes for 1% on the status bar "Synchronized Sequence encoding" to "Pass 1 of 2". This NEVER happened before until what I've updated to the new Premiere Pro update in 2016. I've updated since the last release in 2015. Here is my screenshot below settings.

Something has reset in my performance parameters after the update? I had a schedule much more complex to export much more quickly. Help, please.

When you choose the YouTube preset it automatically switches on an export VBR 2 pass. You can always change that manually if you wish. If you have not a lot of movement or a lot of complex between the images changes, then you probably won't get that pass first, because what is really happening, is that the first pass is an analysis of your video, and then the second pass is the actual coding.

Is there a reason you are color correction in After Effects? If not, then there is no advantage to dynamic linking; in fact, you will only slow you down. You may be color correction in first with modern tools, accelerated by GPU, that could speed things up monumentally. There are a few more technical reasons that you through Ae dynamic linking would slow down. If there is a reason to be, using After Effects, then you can always export directly to EI at least a format such as ProRes and DNxHD processor intensive. It's easier to export and to flatten all of your changes in a file bigger, intermediate, which then would be much faster to transcode to h.264. In this same vein, it is still generally a good idea to export a master ProRes, DNxHD, or another high-quality format to then transcode again after. It may seem counterintuitive, but it can definitely speed up your workflow for ProRes export and then convert them to H.264 format rather than going directly to the H.264 format.

So in short, I'd keep all editing and correction of work inside the creation of colors. This will save you a lot of time.

  • MacBook Pro crashed after update to macOS Sierra

After I tried to update my MacBook Pro for macOS Sierra, this screen came:

In case you can't read it, it says "apple.com/support-1007F'.

After restart my MacBook Pro, he asked for my Wi - Fi connection information, so I typed in it and it showed a loading bar. Then came to this screen:

I didn't know which option to choose, what is called Apple Care to help make a choice. They said to choose 'Reinstall OS X' so I did. Then my screen says something like "click and drag to the browser that you want to download in" but nothing has popped up.

I don't know what is happening with my computer. Hard drive failure? This update was not the largest update so I don't know why all this is happening.

If you have any ideas or solutions, please respond! That would be incredible!

    Thank you guys!

It seems that your Mac can not find the system disk. It seems that the drive has failed and your Mac is now in recovery mode.
