macOS Sierra: Finder does not

Hey,.

I'm running a 2011 end MacBook Pro with macOS Sierra (10.12) running. It is a new installation of the system. Its an i7, 8 GB ram, and a 512 SSD running.

The system works really well, but now and then the Finder completely freezes upward with many applications refusing to start. When I try to force quit them, everything except the Finder can be quit. In an attempt to relaunch the Finder, it just crashes and goes into a loop does not.

Another strange thing, I've seen, it's Photos.app said now "Closed library" or something to that effect. Not able to reproduce every time, but it happens now and then.

My doubts are on my oneDrive synchronizes running may at this time? -J' have two account personal and business running on them at the moment. Aside, the only other cloud service is iCloud (with iCloud Drive work with the new feature of office and Documents).

At this point, I had to reset hard at the computer to make it work again.

I have the same problem with the Finder on my iMac late 2009 after upgrading to Mac OS Sierra. When I double click on any folder or the Finder, I get the 'beachball', Finder becomes "inadmissible", and when I try to restart the Finder, nothing happens. I can't get Finder operational return. The only solution is to reboot. And frankly, I'm tired of reboot five times a day. I think that this happens generally when I'm under Safari. Not sure if it's one of the reasons why Finder crashes. I already tried to reinstall Sierra with no luck.

  • Sierra: Finder does not display the modified files

I just upgraded all my Macs and minis to Sierra 10.12 and have run on something that looks like buggy.

My usual use of a Mini special is transcoding many video files, and I have a collection of (painfully tedious) shell scripts that manipulate file names, do the transcoding and moves the files to one directory to another to make this work. In * most * folders that I see in the Finder when a file is moved to the directory it shows in the Finder correspondent discovered, but in * some * of them, the Finder does not update when a new file is moved to the underlying directory, is renamed or deleted entirely.  For example, I see there are 28 video files to be converted into a directory named FLOOR TRANSCODE using ls - ls in the terminal, but only 6 looking at the same folder in the Finder.

These scripts have been working for several years on this material under El Capitan and Yosemite.

Records I've noticed so far are all in the root of the drive HD server, not under no/Users. Finder appears to display all files when displaying the files moved to USB external drives for storage after transcoding. Another element that might be relevant, is that my normal view of the mac is via RDP (Remote Desktop "headless", no physical monitor in use).

    Have you noticed something similar?

This Mac Mini is late 2012, MacOS Sierra 10.10

I'm not much of what you have written (for example, I don't know what "RDP").

In any case, based on the title of your post, I will answer how to find files "changed" in the Sierra of MacOS.

I just use the search box and type "Date: today".

  • Mac Mini - Finder does not open

I have a Mac Mini with os x 10.10 2014.  The boot disk was almost full and the finder does not open.  I open the iPhoto and deleted the pictures and then empty the trash in iPhoto.  By logging in as a different user, I see I have ~ 1 GB of space, but when I log on my main account and admin the finder does not always open.

I read that it was a known issue:

    http://forums.MacRumors.com/threads/Finder-doesn.

It is said to remove the .plist files, but I can't get to Terminal to do.

    Please advise, thank you!

    Edmund

If you were able to connect as another user, the issue is not lack of storage - this is the same computer.

Yes, your .plist file may be corrupt, or you could have an extension conflict that affects only your user account.

Try the start mode by holding down the SHIFT key at startup. Secure boot is quite slow because the operating system does a lot of cleanup and verification tasks, so give it time. Once you're completely connected, restart normally.

  • Can't stop Mac like Finder does not close

I tried to cancel a copy of file on an external hard drive by clicking on the 'x '. I get the message 'stop' to cancel it, but it happened for 24 hours now.

Finder does not close because there is always this cancellation in operation.

How can we get finder be forced to close or cancel it on my copy of file be forced to cancel properly?

  • Finder does not show folders

    Hello

I have a macbook Air 13 "bought in 2011, it has OS X 10.9 Mavericks installed and since yesterday the Finder does not work. When I open it it does not show a folder or a document, and it shows strange reasons (reminds me when my old Windows crashed).

Here you will find some screenshots.

Important to note is that if I use a projector I can find the files, then open them. Also when I upload an image on the internet and I have to select from the computer via the Finder (regarding the screenshots attached), it works well. In addition, as you can see from the screenshots, on top of the viewfinder, I can see the files and I can open them somehow. If I change the view of the researcher, song to a list, so I can't see anything and can not open files.

I tried to restart the computer, turn it off and turn it on all by pressing the SHIFT key, but it does not work. Interestingly, when I force to quit the Finder application and I re-launch, for the first 10 seconds, it works, then it stops working.

Do you have an idea what could be the problem?

    Alex

Unfortunately I have a hardware problem with RAM or graphics chip.

If your MacBook Air has been purchased after July 20, 2011, he probably has a material test integrated.  You can find starting with'd ' key.

If it isn't you will need the installer original discs/flash drive that comes with it.    If missing, call AppleCare.

You may also be able to get a disc to test material created with this link:

    https://github.com/upekkha/AppleHardwareTest

If Apple Hardware Test reveals no problems, it is more likely that the RAM is an issue than any other thing: *

  • Reveal in finder does not

Hi and thanks for reading. This isn't a big problem but I couldn't find any information on this anywhere. I noticed in 5.5 when I click on a clip and try to get it to show up in the Finder, nothing happens... I think that it worked when I installed it all first, but I can't be sure at this stage. However reveal it in Bridge works and find the file. I thought that things will get better when I did a clean install of Cougar and then installed CS6 but the problem is still there. I think it's more convienent to see in Finder and then fill especially waiting bridge open. Does anyone have any ideas why reveal in Finder does not work for me? If this serious, I did a reorganization of Adobe applications... I have the rest of the Production... I moved them all from the Applications folder to a sub folder in the Apps folder Adobe. I don't know why Adobe them away stuff like that. Thanks for any help on this.

There is a major bug in OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.2 that prevents "Reveal in Finder" (open in the Finder) to work in a variety of applications. Workaround: when he gets to run the following in a Terminal:

    sudo killall -KILL appleeventsd

or, Alternatively, quit appleeventsd , in the activity monitor.

Maybe your problem is related to this.

  • After the installation of Sierra, calendar does not work

After installation of Sierra, when you open the calendar on my Mac, missing entries and the screen is frozen with the comment 'Moving calendars to the server account.' I signed that I the cloud to see if it would help, but I still have this problem.

Hello and welcome to Apple support communities, Stanley Star.

If I understand your message to the right, at the opening of the calendars for the first time after upgrading to Mac OS Sierra, you are missing calendar events and the app is frozen with a message saying "moving to Server account schedules. Calendars, this is one of my apps used on my Mac, so I certainly understand the importance of having the opening and operating as usual. I'm happy to help you to turn it on again!

Icloud and a signature was an excellent step to try. Here are the steps I recommend to do next:

    1. Check that the date and time are correct in your Mac by following the steps in macOS Sierra: set the date and time on your Mac.
    2. Close the present calendars on your Mac. If you are also reminders, close that as well as reminders and schedules work together. If the calendars close normally, will not force close it by clicking the  in the upper left corner of your screen, select force to close, select the calendars in the list of open applications, and then click the button close Force.
    3. Go to System Preferences > iCloud and uncheck the boxes next to the calendars and reminders.
    4. Restart your Mac.
    5. A times restarted, open again your calendar application, select "Calendar" in the Apple menu bar in the left corner of your screen, select "Add an account", choose iCloud and sign in with your Apple and the password.
    6. Give your calendar some time to sync and charge all your data. Once it is loaded successfully, and you can see all your events, open the reminders and do the same steps for signing in iCloud there are also well.

Thank you for using communities of Apple Support.

    Take care.

  • After update to Sierra, Mac does not connect to the ReadyNAS device

I have two Macs at home - an iMac and a MacBook Pro.  I also have a ReadyNAS device, which acts as a time for both Machine.

I've updated the iMac to macOS Sierra.  The upgrade went smoothly, no error reported.  However, once it was up, I found that the iMac has questions is authenticating with the ReadyNAS via AFP (and / or he would authenticate, then delete the connection) and also not able to connect to the service of Time Machine on the ReadyNAS device.

To be sure it wasn't the ReadyNAS, I went to my MBP - it still works under OS X 10.11 and shows all the problems.  AFP shares are accessible without problem, and Time Machine works as expected.

Has nothing changed with Time Machine or AFP protocols under macOS Sierra, which could cause this?

The ReadyNAS is a ReadyNAS Pro 4, running 4.2.28. firmware, if it is useful.

Thank you very much for your help!

AFP is not used by Sierra. Try using SMB instead, if your NAS supports. Or contact the technical support of the manufacturer for assistance.

  • Finder does not display files

    Hello

For three days my finder no longer works correctly.

I see my 'applications' and "all my files", but the rest of "documents", "desktop" and "House" no longer show files.

I tried to move the file 'com.apple.finder.plist '. But it does not help.

    MV ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist ~/Desktop/

When I restart the finder to economy mode works. Then when I restart normal mode new finder works the perfect first time. But after several times the same problem persists...

    Can someone help me?

    My OS: Yosemite

    Best regards

    Jeroen Kolk

I back up all user data and reinstall os x.  Consider installing installation instead of El Capitan.

    Ciao.

  • Finder does not remove the files?

I deleted a lot of videos (files) because they were in my photos, then, even after having emptied the Recycle Bin and rebooted the computer files appear again and are able to play when you type 'Movies' in the Spotlight (order space) search. When I click on the file need me to photo but it does not appear, so, how can I get the files to display.

From the Photos app, click on "Albums" on top, then "recently deleted".

If you want, double-click recently removed to enter the album, then 'Delete All' at the top right.

Just as you shouldn't use Finder to remove music, etc., located in iTunes, you should also not use Finder to remove photos or videos that are found in the Photos (or iPhoto) application.

  • Find does not work in 40.0.3

Quick search does not, at all, and while Ctrl-F or Edition > search will open a narrower search bar as usual, a cursor can not be placed in or he finds any text I type. The search bar includes no switches highlight all and match case, but neither works. It also includes closing switch (x), that works. See attached screenshot of this page with open bar.

Thank you! When I restarted in safe mode, Find worked normally. Then, I closed Firefox and restarted in normal mode; Find continues to operate normally. Only downside, is that I could not restore my previous session - not great, given in particular that find didn't work in this session. Thanks again!

  • Finder does not

Hi everyone, I hope someone can help me with this problem of finder, I have.  This isn't my folder view... Please see computer and problem details below.

    Data sheet:

Product name: Mac Book Air, 13-inch, mid-2013

Processor: 1.7 GHz Intel Core i7

    Memory: 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

    Storage capacity: 499,42 GB

    OPERATING SYSTEM: OS X 10.9.2 (13 C 64)

    Version of the Finder: 10.9.2

    Problem:

When I opened my Finder window, it does not show me all the files or let me click on the screen and select anything.  It's as if the display area is messed up, when I open another application, it takes on this background applications, and when I move it off the screen, it shows the dock...  Please see the attached picture.  It works when I use other applications to open the Finder, as the selection of files to download online...

    Duration:

This problem started about 3 weeks ago and at first, I would just restart the Finder and it would work, but now his continually opens with this problem and the recovery does not seem to resolve.

    What I tried:

    -Relaunch the Finder

    -Restart the computer

    Any advice help, thanks!

    May be a corrupt .plist.

Make a backup, preferably 2 backups on 2 separate drives.

Go to Finder and select your user folder. With this Finder window as the windshield, select Finder/display/display options for presenting or order - J.  When the display options opens, check "show the library folder. This should make your visible user library folder in your user folder.  Select the library. Then go to Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist.  Move the .plist on your desktop.

Relaunch the Finder by restarting the computer and test. If it works fine, delete the plist for the office.

If the same, return the .plist to where you have it since, by crushing the latest.

Thanks to leonie for certain information contained in this.

  • problem of time machine Airport: finder does not

    Hello

I use a time capsule from the airport. The connection works fine.

However, I was doing a few files "organized" in the records of the airport and all of a sudden the finder would not respond. I tried to 'Force quit' the finder and start again or turn off 30 seconds time capsule, but the result is the same for a few days now. When I return to my main folder in capsule, automatically the finder is unresponsive and I have to restart the finder.

One of the reasons could be that when I was doing 'organized' files (like move one folder to another, etc.) he too complicated (large files) and then the thing all jammed.

Anyway, if you guys might have a solution for me, this would not lose all my files I appreciate.

Thank you very much for your time.

    All the best,

    Florent

PS: I'm using an Imac, Yosemite, version 10.10.03

Nothing will fix itself without some spoil your files... Something has stuck at halfway between the two and is now corrupted. Unfortunately, Finder can not work around the problem... If you did this correctly, you can use disk utility to solve the problem... but you cannot run disk on TC utility because it is a network drive.

You have three choices I see...

One that suits that I listed last.

1 make the cleaning of the Terminal file. It's hard I think because you do not know which files you were moving around in time. And work of the terminal is for real experts or you can do more damage than you started with.

    2. use a windows computer connected to the CT... that sounds crazy, I know, but you will not crash explore like you do finder. Fix up (remove all the files that are half way moved). If you have been for example copy of records. (travel is not a method Apple uses... so what do you mean by moving?)

Delete the moved folder... Make sure you have all the files elsewhere of course.

    3. There is a way around that could save...

In airport utility go to the disk tab and select archive.

You need to connect a Mac to format USB stick capacity equal or superior to all the files on the TC, including backup (tell me, you need not backup)... you can't be selective. And start archiving. Once you have it on a hard drive which you can then plug your computer... you can run the utility disk on it and fix the problems before opening finder... Once you have done this... Erase the zone folder on TC and copy it to the back of the USB drive repaired. This method may work best... it will cost you a USB... BTW, which is how you should have done this...

Now the rap on the fingers. You can stop reading now...

NEVER USE A NETWORK DRIVE TO YOUR HAND WITHOUT A BACKUP FOLDERS.

When you handle files... do you not understand that each file must be copied TC - computer - TC. If you do more wireless... corruption is inevitable.

All the key files should be on the local drive... A USB plugged into the computer is fine... but active faster the better... libraries and files will end by corrupted if you use files on a network resource and access more wireless... even on ethernet, it can not not... but more wireless, it's inevitable. Apple didn't build protection in the TC to work as a file server. You use software designed for local use.

Always save... If this happened and you had the worst backups that could happen is that you need to clear the TC and copy the files back.

Keep this and you will eliminate not only a few files but loads of them... maybe all.

A time Capsule is not designed for running your files of overload... Plug in a USB key or faster in particular the iMac is great hassle since you can use in powered car and hide behind the computer... The TC is for your TM backups. Dragging files to it... you have now no way back up since the TC cannot save itself and Time Machine backup network drives impossible.

    End rap.

  • Police on MacOS Sonata - works does not correctly

    Hello

I just downloaded and installed the file Sonata Standard OpenType via FontBook under Mac OS 10.9.2. So far the police does not work properly in MS Word format or Apple Keynote - I get letters standard qwerty rather than musical notation. Someone at - it ideas on fix/troubleshooting?

    Thank you!

Not sure if the "SonataStd.keylayout" file that is included in the download package would be useful. I can't find a way to open this file (the system tells me that there are no applications available to open the file).

    Without a doubt.

Place this file in ~/Library/Keyboard Layouts
