    Hello Art,

My understanding is that the problem is a problem on the side of Gmail and is linked to the way that Gmail sends his images online when you use the EAS Protocol.

  • Mail app: can't see the IMAP shared folder in iOS10

Since I updated my iPhone to iOS10 I see the shared folder of the IMAP in the Mail application. IOS9 until the Mail app displays all folders shared IMAP that you were able to subscribe. It was dependent on the setting of the IMAP path prefix. Even I have try different settings I don't recognize any different behavior.

I have found no comment from Apple for this.

Someone at - he noticed the same problem? Is there an attempt to solution?

Same question, very exasperating.  I noticed one thing was that if you delete the account and start over, shared folders are there, at least initially.  If you leave the app and come back later, they are gone.  I suspect that a prefix is stored in the application state that prevents later shared folders to be seen.  I noticed that other applications also have problems, see the shared folders, including by aircraft and shipping, though.  I really liked having access to those from before this update - difficulty please!

  • Mail.app crash at startup

Suddenly, mid-afternoon Friday, my Mail.app started crashing on my laptop whenever I start it (Mac Book Pro, 2010), and today when I turned on a mac mini it started doing the same thing.

When I open the app it begins to get the mail, and before the finish mail synchronization with the server, it crashes. No matter if I try to interact with him or not (for example, try to view a message already downloaded), 10-45 seconds after its opening, it crashes. Have not been able to get it remains open since Friday, even for a minute.

I'm under the last 10.11.4 El Capitan update on both. I updated the mac mini to this version of el cpitan, on April 23. Crash did not begin until today, April 30, so I don't think that it has nothing to do with the update.

Please launch the Console application in one of the following ways:

☞ Enter the first letters of his name in a Spotlight search. Select from the results (it should be at the top).

☞ In the Finder, select go utilities ▹ of menu bar or press the combination of keys shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.

☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.

    Step 1

For this step, the title of the Console window should be all Messages. If it isn't, select

SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ all Messages

in the list of logs on the left. If you don't see this list, select

List of newspapers seen ▹ display

in the menu at the top of the screen bar.

In the upper right corner of the Console window, there is a search box to filter. Enter the name of the application crashed or process. For example, if Safari has crashed, you would enter "Safari" (without the quotes).

Each message in the journal begins with the date and time when it was entered. Select the messages since the time of the last fall, as appropriate. Copy to the Clipboard by pressing Control-C key combination. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command + V.

The journal contains a large amount of information, almost everything that is not relevant to solve a particular problem. When you post a journal excerpt, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.

Please don't dump blindly thousands of lines in the journal in this discussion.

Please do not post screenshots of log messages - text poster.

Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.

    Step 2

In the Console window, clear the search box, and then select

DIAGNOSIS AND diagnostic USE information reports ▹ user

(not diagnose them and use Messages) in the list of logs on the left. There is a disclosure triangle to the left of the list item. If the triangle is pointing to the right, click it so that it points downwards. You will see a list of reports of incidents. The name of each report begins with the name of the process and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report on the process in question. The content of the report is displayed at right. Allows you to copy and paste to validate all of the content, text, not a screenshot.

I know that the report is long, perhaps several hundred lines. Please report all this anyway. If the report is only a few lines, make sure that you have disabled the search box.

If you don't see any report, but you know, he had an accident, you have chosen diagnostic and using the list of Log Messages. INFORMATION on the USE of DIAGNOSTIC AND choose instead.

In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you change the UUID ' anonymous, ' a long string of letters, numbers and dashes in the header of the report, if it is present (it cannot be). "

Please do not post other types of diagnostic report - they are very long and rarely useful.

When you post the journal excerpt or the accident report, you might see an error message on the web page: "you have included content in your post that is not allowed", or "the message contains invalid characters." It's a bug in the forum software. Thanks for posting the text on Pastebin, then post here a link to the page you created.

If you have an account on Pastebin, please do not select private in exposure menu to paste on the page, because no one else that you will be able to see it.

  • iOS 9.3.1 Mail App crashing on the main window - a SOLUTION. Can be linked to rogue/spam email

I had a problem with Mail crashing several times today and was close to restore my phone but am happy that I stumbled upon a solution until I did it!

I'll copy / paste of the other post I made on the discussion board:

I had a problem this morning with the Mail App unexpectedly crashing when opening on my 5s iPhone running iOS 9.3.1 (last updated).

In case someone knows something similar, I found a solution that was remarkably easy.

Trying to open a mail, the app would show the display of messages for a fraction of a second, and then the crash. Nothing worked - quit smoking and a retry of the app, reboot / hard re-boot of the iPhone, leave all specific applications, disabling of e-mail accounts, settings etc.. I was beginning to think that I have to do a hard system restore, but thank God I have not, as it is a major PITA and I found the unexpected solution.

In any case, I noticed that I could get in Mail by opening one of my emails from the Notification screen. Everything seemed fine, but if I close this message to return to the main window of Mail, the application crashed once more. The main window is appeared to be the culprit. I noticed that several new Spam messages were visible on this screen this morning.

So here's how I found the solution: my computer, I myself sent a priority email, which came on my screen of notifications. By using this link directly to open the message, Mail worked fine again. Then by using the arrows to zip directly from a message to a message, I worked my way through the new emails, including the unrecognized Spam I deleted. Once they were gone, I back-arrow in the main screen of Mail and Voila! No more crash.

So, apparently, there are messages that can crash the Mail app on iOS 9 simply by being visible in the main window. Be aware of this and if this happens to you, with Mail blocks instantly whenever you open it, try this approach before restoring your system software.

You could also try resetting your e-mail account. First close your Mail application completely from the window of the selector app by double clicking the Home button and drag the email preview pane up until it disappears from the display. You may need to search the mail pane covering scribbles to the left. Then go to settings > Mail, Contacts, calendar > find your e-mail provider and click on the account. On the next page, delete the account. Then perform a forced reboot. Hold down the home and Sleep/Wake buttons simultaneously for about 15-20 seconds , until the Apple logo appears. Then go to settings > mail... and to add the account.

  • Mail app does not match

Hello. I have a Macbook Air, and I've recently updated to El Capitan. After this update, both my accounts on my Mail App suffer error account: "unable to connect. There may be a problem with the mail server or the network. Check the account settings or try again. "I see all my emails since then, but I can't send or receive e-mails. I tried checking and uncheck "automatically detect and manage account settings, and the mailbox refresh button doesn't seem to do anything. Help, please.

Please read this message before doing anything.

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It is unlikely to solve your problem. Don't be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.

The test is intended to determine if the problem is caused by a third-party software that loads automatically at startup or logon, by a device, by a police conflict or corruption of system files or some system caches.

Disconnect all devices wired except those required to test and remove all the expansion cards from secondary market, as appropriate. Start in safe mode and log on to the account of the problem.

Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or an earlier version, or if a firmware password is defined, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can not do this. Ask for additional instructions.

Safe mode is much slower to boot and run as normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things work at all, including an audio output and a Wi - Fi connection on some models. The next normal boot can also be a bit slow.

The login screen is displayed even if you usually connect automatically. You need your password to log on. If you have forgotten the password, you will have to reset it before you begin.

Test in safe mode. Same problem?

After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and make sure you always have the problem. View the results of the test.

  • Windows 8 Mail App - for Gmail accounts, how to remove archive button?

I have some Gmail accounts, I'm trying to make it work in the application Mail in Windows 8.  The problem is that if I press the button Delete in the top right of the app, it sends my e-mail message to the trash in Gmail, where he get permanently deleted after 30 days.  I want to remove the button to simply remove the element from its current location and "archive" instead (not go in the trash).  I need this so that I can keep the search of old messages history.

I checked in my Gmail settings (on their site) and on the tab "transfer and POP/IMAP", I already have ' auto clear on ' and 'Archive' message when a message is marked as deleted.

Plus, I saw that other support posts here who say the default by pressing the button Delete for them is the exact opposite of what I see (they say archives instead of cops).  I am completely confused about it since that's what I want, but don't see anything else to try to get it.

Can someone please give some insight on how to get this working?  I have my iPad Mail app works very well in this regard.  But this question, it is difficult to make the switch from my Surface Pro.

    I found a solution!

    It's pretty simple.

    1. go in Gmail settings - labels

On the right side of the screen, you can select records show in imap.

    2. remove the ckeckmark then in bin/basket

Now, the trash will not be displayed in imap (as the Win 8 messaging application) e-mail applications.

    3. now, go to the windows mail application 8. If you still see a Bin or Trash, folder synchronization (right-click - option to the left)

    4. open the charms bar (drag in from the right side of the screen or move your mouse cursor to the top right of the screen and then down). Go to settings - accounts - choose your gmail account. Scroll to the bottom of the settings panel

You will now see an option of folder in which you want to use as trash! See attached picture

    5. choose [Gmail] \All Mail as the basket

Fact! Now when you delete an email it will be archived.

Impossible to believe there is even a solution, I couldn't find one on the web, he found by chance. Hope this will help a lot of people. Now if only Microsoft and Google that would place in their official faq...

  • Windows Mail App on my new computer laptop

I got a new laptop with touch screen of Windows 8 (which I am learning to use), but when I click on the Mail app, he gave me my mail from my Google e-mail address. I also use another email from my ISP, Comcast, and I wanted that appears when I click on the mail app.  A few weeks ago I tried to add my Comcast email address to the mail app but I didn't have the right settings to put in, but it seems that set this e-mail account which does not work with the Comcast name.  Today, my husband, who is more computer than me, savvy said he had the right settings to configure my laptop computer on the new Comcast e-mail account. He was able to set up the e-mail account of Comcast properly by 'Add an account', however, I can't select to have my delivered email "as items arrive" only every 15 minutes or more. So I thought that maybe there because of a conflict with the first non-functioning email account Comcast because I can put this one to download the new email "as shipments arrive.  So I tried to delete the first Comcast, but I am unable to remove it without changing the settings from my PC because it says, ' this is a Microsoft account that allows you to log in to the Windows settings and synchronize with other computers of your. I don't want to screw up anything with my settings on the laptop.  So now I have 3 accounts is displayed when I click on 'settings' then 'accounts '. The first has a blue mail icon and white with the name of Comcast (it offers nothing for me), the latter also named Comcast as my husband put up and running but won't allow me to get mail 'as shipments arrive', with a black envelope icon and others with the Gmail icon which also offers a mail to me and that will allow me to download new mail 'as shipments arrive.

I can't get email that shipments arrive on my Gmail account.  Is there anyway that I can delete the email account that does not have Comcast? Or is it possible to add parameters to the first Comcast account so that one works and one delete my husband added (but it's the only Comcast that works so I hesitate to do).  Please explain in simple terms that I will have to just fix myself. I really appreciate any help you can give me.

It worked! And so simple! Thank you very much for your help!
